how long does it take you to come up with meenah's fish puns?

I just throw them in as I go! Whenever I'm writing her dialogue or narration, some part of my brain is keeping track of how long it's been since last time I put one in there, and whether the words I'm currently writing could be punned. Every so often I end up like, looking up boat or fish terms to see if I can make a more out-there pun work, but generally it's pretty quick by now!

#ask time!#It helps that at least once or twice in canon Meenah makes a pun and then somebody is like :? and she has to clarify #that gives me the leeway to do the same thing. because sometimes I do a pun and I'm like hoo boy 8T #don't know if people will be able to parse that one. but anyway there's like a handful of easy fallbacks that just keep the frequency up #things like 'sand' for 'stand' or 'send' or 'sound' and 'whale' for 'well' and 'eel' for basically any 'vowel-L' sound etc etc #those single-syllable replacements (replaicements) are the bread and butter. and then rarer words and more syllables sprinkled in
