I’ve noticed more trans people that don’t voice train or try to speak in a way that may help them “pass” better, & as someone who Got Tired of changing my voice and kinda just stopped a few years ago, it’s a validating thing to see :)
#I’m an afab dude with quite a high pitched voice generally. & I don’t like my voice & would love it to be low#But I just don’t have the energy to change my voice Pre-T#There’s other reasons too like that I worked in retail until recently and I don’t rly pass so it was easier if I presented a bit more fem#It felt safer if I could lower the likelihood of customers thinking I’m trans. So I played up the more “feminine” parts of my personality#And if I was using my high pitched voice all the time at work then it just got exhausting trying to switch back & forth#So I just stopped cause it was too much of a hassle#But I often have this dumb worry that it means I “deserve” to get misgendered if I’m not putting all this energy into trying to pass#Which I would never say about anyone else ofc#So seeing more trans peeps who don’t try to change their voice is a good reminder that we’re allowed to just exist & still deserve respect#And that if someone thinks we should act in a certain way- then that’s their own problem. Not ours.#Lgbt#trans#transgender#pre testosterone#pre transition#we don’t owe “passing” to anyone!! I don’t have to fit into anyone’s idea of what they think a trans person should be like!#<3
