Sorry it took me an entire month to get to Issue 62, but I’m finally able to talk about it (and all the other stuff that got revealed between last time and now), so I’ll get right into it!
So Amy decides to take that relic Rouge found back to Knuckles on Angel Island, and the two set out to put it back in its rightful place together (which they succeed in doing).
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Clutch calls Mimic over and proposes a plan to him involving him sneaking into Restoration HQ and gathering materials and weapons from Eggman’s broken bots, and he accepts the offer.

Later, a guy named Duo walks into Restoration HQ and requests to join the new Diamond Cutters team while they were already talking about adding new members, so they decide to give him a chance, unknowing of the fact that Duo is actually Mimic in disguise!

That’s it for Issue 62, but we got quite a few solicits in the past month, including Issues 65 and 66 as well as small teasers for Issues 67 and 68, which are set to come out in September, October, November, and December...
The misadventures continue! It's Knuckles vs. the Babylon Rogues! They have stolen a relic from Angel Island, so Knuckles enlists the Chaotix to track them down. But the Chaotix have a super important date to keep: dinner with Vanilla and Cream! The pair are busy preparing when they get two very unexpected and stinky visitors...
Knuckles will stop at nothing to get the Angel Island relic back from the Babylon Rogues! The Chaotix will stop at nothing to help Knuckles! Except maybe a dinner invitation from Cream and Vanilla, who are busy fighting their own battle after a pair of unexpected guests stop by. I really hope they don't ruin the beautiful gelatinous dishes Cream and Vanilla worked so hard to make!
Surge & Kit return...to join the Restoration?!
Sonic & Tails explore a mysterious cavern.
It was also revealed that we’ll be getting an Amy 30th Anniversary special in September as well as a Halloween special in October, and we may or may not also be getting a Knuckles (...and Fang!) 30th Anniversary special next year.
Cool, sweet, and pink! All words that describe our absolute favorite hedgehog. That's right, step aside, Sonic, and have no fear, Amy Rose is here! Ian Flynn, Aaron Hammerstrom, and Reggie Graham are back for another Classic Sonic special! And this time, Amy’s doing the saving! After Metal Sonic interupts her picnic, Amy uses her Fortune Cards as a guide to free her friends and stop Dr. Eggman. Can she save the day and still get back in time for tea?!
Trick or treat, it’s Charmy Bee...t! It's "A Very Chaotix Halloween" as Vector and Espio take their little buddy out in search of sweet rewards. Little do they know, there's a monster stealing candy from all the kids! Fortunately, there's no mystery the Chaotix Detective Agency can't solve, especially when they've got a little help from Sonic and Tails!
We also got the full list of everyone doing covers and writing stories for 900th Adventure, and in addition to Richard Elson doing a cover for it, it’s also been revealed that one of Sonic the Comic’s main writers Nigel Kitching will also be writing a story for it, which is also really cool.

#JackedKirby - Xemnu, The Hulk BEFORE The Hulk! 💥💥💥 I have an irrational love for Jack’s early monster and sci-fi work at Atlas/Marvel in the late 50’s/early 60’s... it’s just so awesome and the creatures are great! But anyone remember that time Kirby drew a Hulk before The Hulk was even created? 💥💥💥 This is Xemnu The Living Hulk, the creature of the month in Journey Into Mystery #Issue62 from November of 1960. This alien monster had the “Hulk” moniker before Bruce Banner... and an 11 foot tall frame to back it up! Xemnu has mind control powers to go along with his bulky frame, and he used them throughout the two part story in the JIM issue. Great! 💥💥💥 I’ve been thinking of Xemnu a lot since he has been prominently featured in the most recent Immortal Hulk run by Al Ewing (writer) and Joe Bennett (artist) as seen in Pic 3 of this post... and done masterfully by Alex Ross for the cover of that series (pic 4). Three current creators who were obviously influenced by and love The King’s creations! 💥💥💥 #JackKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #Xemnu #XemnuTheLivingHulk #JourneyIntoMystery #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #IGComics #ImmortalHulk #AlEwing #JoeBennett #AlexRoss #60sComics #ComicsOfThe1960s https://www.instagram.com/p/B_7xi-rBXV4/?igshid=ej1yxokgfsf5

A double dunt of haunted castles tonight, for our Halloween post.
First stop is Castle Fraser, the most elaborate Z-plan castle in Scotland and one of the grandest 'Castles of Mar'. Originally known as Muchall-in-Mar most of the castle , as it is today dates from 1575 and completed in 1636 but there was an earlier castle long before this. As usual it is claimed to be the most haunted castle in Scotland, but there are many that compete for this prize.
Legend has it that a young princess was once staying at the castle when she was brutally murdered while asleep in the 'Green Room'. Her body was dragged down the stone stairs, leaving a trail of blood stains. As hard as they tried, the occupants of the castle could not scrub out the stains, and so were forced to cover the steps in wood panelling, which remains today. It is said she still stalks the halls of the castle during the night.
Over the years many residents have reported seeing her ghost throughout the castle. Visitors and staff members have heard apparitional piano music, voices and whispers have been heard in the empty hall. Witnesses have seen Lady Blanche Drummond's ghost who died in 1874. She appears in a long black gown her ghost has been seen in the castle grounds and on the staircase. The kitchen staff have reported hearing the sound of children laughing and singing, only to find that there were no children at this castle.

The second story is from Fyvie Castle.in Aberdeenshire, the earliest parts of this stronghold date from the year 1211, some sources say it was built by William the Lion, other royal connections are,King Robert the Bruce held a court here and Charles I lived here as a child.
Fyvie Castle is haunted by the spectre of Lilias Drummond who was starved to death by her husband ,or died from a broken heart, there in 1601. Legend has it that Liliasís ghost carved her name on the stone window sill of her husbandís bedroom on the night that he took a new bride. The writing can still be seen and the green-ghost of Lilias appears when time bodes ill for the owners of Fyvie. The castle, just north of Aberdeen, is also reputedly haunted by a dead drummer and a haunted trumpeter play their instruments when death is approaching.
Another story is told that in 1920 during renovation work, a skeletal woman was discovered behind a bedroom wall. On the day her remains were laid to rest in Fyvie cemetery, the castle residents started to be plagued by strange noises and unexplained occurrences. Fearing he had offended the deceased woman, this castle's Laird had the skeleton exhumed and replaced behind the bedroom wall, at which point the haunting ceased. It is said that there is a secret room in the southwestern corner that must remain sealed, lest anyone entering meet with disaster. It is not clear if this is the same room in which the woman's skeleton was found. There is also an indelible bloody stain, two apparitions and two curses associated with this place. One of the curses has been attributed to the prophetic laird, Thomas the Rhymer.

#JackedKirby - Lightnin’ & The Lone Rider!!! 💥💥💥 Before Jack got his start on comics he went to work for Lincoln Features Syndicate working on various comic strips that varied from humor to westerns. One of these strips was an old West Tale called Lightnin’ & The Lone Rider, which ran in publications throughout most of January and February of 1939. As was the case with most comic strips back them, they were often bunched together and repackaged as comic books at a later date. 💥💥💥 This particular strip would go on to appear in Famous Funnies later in 1939. The full page ad announcing the upcoming run (Pic 1) appeared in #Issue61 from August of 1939. The first strip appeared in #Issue62 of Famous Funnies from #Issue62 from September of 1939. (Pic 2/3) 💥💥💥 In the pinup we get an interesting look at a Very young Jack’s style when it comes to westerns... I really love the masked figure and his whites out eyes, something that would become a staple of Jack’s in the future! The strip itself contains some elements of Jack’s artistic style that would become well known later on... but you can see he is developing and growing as an artist and is on his way to what he would eventually become. It’s always great to look back at some of these earlier works to see how much raw talent Jack had... and how much better he would eventually become! 💥💥💥 PS- The name Kirby used on this strip and a few others from that time period as “Lance Kirby”, one of the few aliases he sported before he settled on Jack Kirby!!! 💥💥💥 #JackKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #TheLoneRider #LightninAndTheLoneRider #LincolnPublications #ComicStrips #30sComics #ComicsOfThe30s #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #IGComics #IGComicCommunity #IGComicFamily #ComicsOFIG Thanks to the Kirby/Simon blog on the @kirbymuseum webpage for background info for this post!!! https://www.instagram.com/p/BnmgbkSHapq/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ucvzhl5yu818
