i haven't done playlists in a long time, but I'm doing this one for my friend @ghostlydarknight, with some songs from the genre

Arash featuring Rebecca Zadig - Temptation 2005

"Temptation" is a 2005 major hit single by Iranian-Swedish singer Arash featuring Rebecca Zadig and taken from Arash's self-titled debut album. The music for "Temptation" is from "Baila Maria", a Spanish tune recorded by Ishtar Alabina featuring Los Niños de Sara in 1996. "Temptation" in its own right has been subject of many covers and in a number of languages.

"Temptation" was first recorded by Swedish singer Rebecca Zadig with additional lyrics and rendition vocals featuring Arash, who started his career performing under his mononym Alex. The first version had English as main vocals by Zadig featuring Arash that interpreted some additional Persian language lyrics. "Temptation" was re-released as a song mainly in the Persian language, this time crediting Arash as the main vocalist, and Rebecca Zadig was reduced to a featuring role. This release became the definitive version and was Arash's third successful consecutive single after "Boro Boro" and "Tike Tike Kardi" (poll #137). The song credited to Arash made it to number 2 on the Swedish Singles Chart, and also charted in Germany, Switzerland and Finland.

In 2005, a Russian language version of the song was made by Arash with the Russian girl group Blestyaschie. The song titled "Vostochniye skazki" (Eastern fairytales) was credited to Blestyaschie featuring Arash. In 2006, the South African cover boyband Hi-5 covered the song in Afrikaans under the title "Versoeking". It was a main single and the title track of their album. In 2015, the Dutch group Wing-Men covered the song in Dutch under the title "Verleid Mij", and released it as their debut single.

idk if this applies to other Ethnic Moms(TM) but a characteristic of a jewish mom is that she fucking roasts the SHIT out of something about you while on the phone with her friends/your relatives and with you in the room, but it’s like, somehow not done out of any malice

anyway as y’all know my host-mom in argentina, Silvia, was an argentinian jew and literally no one but me in my program could have withstood this combination and come out alive.  she was like my mom but 1000000x more dramatic and a chain smoker, also she had 3 sons and she told me weekly that i was “the daughter she never had” (what else would a jewish mom do other than assign you a role that will make you feel guilty and always be impossible to fulfill?) so like, instantaneously we were all too familiar with each other lmao 

anyway the point of it all is that apparently this particular jewish mom thing is universal because whenever i was home she was constantly on the phone with people talking about me, and one of her favorite topics was “AHAHA MY AMERICAN ACTUALLY LIKES CRISTINA!!!  LMAOOOO!  I LEAVE THE WEEKEND NEWSPAPERS AT HER PLACE AT THE TABLE BEFORE SHE WAKES UP SO SHE CAN READ ABOUT CRISTINA!!!  HAHAHAHAH LMAO” and i would just have to sit there and take it because that’s the way u gotta do it

in that way she made my own mom, who just sent me a few WSJ articles about how cristina was bad for the economy, look like a total jewish mom amateur

TESTAMENT's ALEX SKOLNICK Teams Up With ARCH ENEMY's ALISSA WHITE-GLUZ For Cover Of QUEEN's 'We Are The Champions'

TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnick has teamed up with ARCH ENEMY singer Alissa White-Gluz to record a cover version of the QUEEN classic "We Are The Champions". A quarantine-style video for their rendition of the song can be seen below.

Regarding how the collaboration came about, Alex says: "Last spring, when lockdown 'challenges' were all the rage, we'd been among more than a dozen musicians and singers answering [QUEEN guitarist] Brian May's call in a wonderful, elaborate all-star video in tribute to first responders ([go] back to last spring to see the full version, with a different vocalist singing each line). For this we created a straight through 'jamming' version, with her voice straight through and remixed by yours truly (not easy, but a fun challenge!).

"This is a special video posted on both of our Patreon accounts (thank you, patrons!) as a gift during the holidays. Now we are announcing it as it is available to view for all. Enjoy!"

Skolnick joined TESTAMENT in 1985 at the age of 16 and stayed with the band for eight years before leaving in 1993 and going on to study at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. He rejoined TESTAMENT as a full-time member in 2005.

In addition to playing with ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO and TESTAMENT, he has worked as a sideman with such artists as vocalist Ishtar of the French band ALABINA and Jewish folk singer Debbie Friedman. He has also guested on an album from RODRIGO Y GABRIELA.

Three years ago, the ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO — comprised of Skolnick, Zebroski and bassist Nathan Peck — released "Conundrum", its first album since 2011.

TESTAMENT's latest album, "Titans Of Creation", came out in April 2020 via Nuclear Blast.

Alissa has spent the last few years working on her long-awaited solo album, to be released via Napalm Records. The effort is expected to include contributions and collaborations with past and present members of ARCH ENEMY and KAMELOT, as well as MISFITS guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein.

Alissa said in a 2017 interview that the idea for a solo project came about as a suggestion from ARCH ENEMY's former lead singer Angela Gossow, who has been managing the band's career for a decade and also oversees Alissa's personal affairs.
