The name of Isdera is derived from the German words Ingenieurbüro für Styling, Design und Racing. The company was registered in 1982, she released two models created based on the prototype CW311: this is an open Isdera 033i Spyder and coupe Isdera Imperator 108i. The cars were assembled by hand to order, although the basic wage was the engineering for third parties. Supercar of the second generation was supposed to be the same Isdera Commendatore 112i with a spatial frame and the Mercedes V12 engine (408 HP). But with the announced price of 485 thousand dollars it does not matter: he managed to make only two copies.
The last Imperator came from stocks in 2001 (circulation amounted to only 30 copies), Spyder has gone down in history yet. In 2006 Schultz has attracted the attention of an unusual retrocam Isdera Autobahnkurier 116i, under the very long hood which is engine V8, but the world saw only one instance. In recent years, Isdera making ends meet thanks to a few third-party orders, and that was engaged in the service and restoration of their old cars.
But the company recently announced the relocation of Hildesheim in the new headquarters, which is located in the town of Sochi, near the Franco-German border. And on the welcome sign at the entrance to the territory is an unusual inscription: Sinfonia Automotive AG, Isdera Group. What does it mean?
Sinfonia is an investment Fund located in Hong Kong. In the automotive world he has already managed to “mess”, urging the wedges to the small manufacturers of exotic cars. For example, two years ago the Fund tried to buy a bankrupt company Wiesmann, although in the end it fell to the British. With Steroi Hong Kong financiers were more fortunate, and now Sinfonia became the new owner of the company Eberhard Schulz. At the head of the automotive division Automotive AG Sinfonia rose Freeman Shen — a former top Manager of Geely, at the time, who led the takeover of Volvo.
And future plans became known a few days ago. Chinese news Agency Xinhua reported that Isdera entered into a cooperation agreement with a local company WM Motor, also known under the name Weltmeister that German is translated as “world champion”. This firm was founded last year and is headed by the same Freeman Shen. He was able to attract over a billion dollars of investment, launched the construction of a plant with a capacity of 200 thousand cars per year, and in 2018 the company should start mass production of electric vehicles. Their development and fine-tuning will deal with Isdera.
Interestingly, the firm WM Motor has already become a member of the scandal: in the Internet appeared the image of the prospective models which has been seriously retouched photos of production cars from other manufacturers. The Chinese then were quick to say that have nothing to do with these collages. On these models, the Motor WM is not known, although on the company website there is information about the machines on the “second platform”! Supposedly the electric car called the AG2020 (the year of production) will be able to accelerate to 60 km/h in 2.2 seconds, to pass on a single charge of 1200 miles (1931 km at the moment) and to compensate for the charge in just half an hour.
It is unclear just what this initiative can help Isdera, which has long been engaged in the development of new cars with electric cars and not had Affairs. But this seems to be the case when the label Engineered in Germany more important than anything else. And Eberhard Schulz this cooperation should help to return to his hobby.
