Style appreciation post:
Luisa Casati
Luisa, Marchesa Casati Stampa di Soncino(23 January 1881 – 1 June 1957), was an Italian heiress, muse, and patroness of the arts in early 20th-century Europe. She was said to walk around Venice at night with her pet cheetahs, naked but for a fur cloak. For the first three decades of the twentieth century, the fabled Marchesa Luisa Casati (1881-1957) triumphed as the brightest star in European society. Possibly the most artistically represented woman in history after the Virgin Mary and Cleopatra, the portraits, sculptures and photographs of her would fill a gallery. In a quest for immortality, she had herself painted by Giovanni Boldini, Augustus John, Kees Van Dongen, Romaine Brooks and Ignacio Zuloaga; sketched by Drian, Alberto Martini and Alastair; sculpted by Giacomo Balla, Catherine Barjansky and Jacob Epstein; and photographed by Man Ray, Cecil Beaton and Baron Adolph de Meyer. She frightened Artur Rubinstein, angered Aleister Crowley and intimidated T.E. Lawrence. As muse to the Italian futurists F. T. Marinetti, Fortunato Depero and Umberto Boccioni, she conjured up an elaborate marionette show with music by Maurice Ravel. Accompanied by her pet boa constrictor, she checked into the Ritz Hotel in Paris, where it escaped. Considered the original female dandy, Léon Bakst, Paul Poiret, Mariano Fortuny and Erté dressed her. She adorned herself with the jewels of Lalique and directly inspired the famed 'Panther' design for Cartier. Her parties and appearances at others became legendary–at one celebration in her Venetian palazzo, Nijinsky invited Isadora Duncan to dance; Picasso attended a soirée at her Roman villa; while she costumed herself as a living artwork inspired by Dali for another. She was a subject of intrigue to Marcel Proust and the Comte Robert de Montesquiou. She whirled through Parisian nightlife, making an unforgettable impression on Colette, Elsa Schiaparelli and Coco Chanel. She was the only woman ever to astonish her lover Gabriele D'Annunzio, one of Italy's most notorious and revolutionary writers.

Ok i’m gonna go out on a limb and claim july 21st is their unofficial death date, simply because it’s the date with the most significance. (Yes, i checked every movie and tv show on his wikipedia page). It also just sounds like a sunset curve number.
But because i’m weird, i looked up July 21st on wikipedia and here’s what I found:
Birthdays
Ernest Hemingway was born on this day in 1899. I mention Hemingway bc he wrote a book called The Sun Also Rises, which has a scene at a bar in Paris where the character Jake is mad at a group of gay men. Kenny is gay, so this could’ve been an F.U. to Ernest Hemingway lol
It’s also the birthdate of Isadora Bennett, who was a publicity agent for modern dance theater. (1900)
The next one is one of the most compelling. Norman Jewison was born on this day in 1926. He was an actor, director, and producer. He got nominated for several emmys, most notably for the film of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, aka one of the most famous musicals of all time!!! He directed and produced it. But get this: HE DIRECTED, PRODUCED, AND WROTE THE MOVIE FOR JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Another very iconic musical.
Sir Jonathan Miller was born on this day in 1934. He was a theater and opera director, among many other talents, including being a freaking medical doctor who specialized in neurology. He was in a comedy revue in the 60s called Beyond the Fringe.
The birthdate of Kim Fowley in 1939. He was the manager for the band The Runaways, the band that sings “Cherry Bomb”.
(1946) Birthdate of Timothy Harris, an author, screenwriter, and producer. He wrote the screenplay for Space Jam (yes, Space Jam) with his friend Herschel Weingrod.
(1948) Famous singer Cat Stevens was born on this day.
ROBIN WILLIAMS was born July 21st 1951. Yeah this takes the cake.
(1953) The birthdate of Eric Bazilian, a singer, songwriter, musician, arranger, and producer. Wrote songs for Ronnie Spector, LeAnn Rimes, Ricky Martin, the Scorpions, Jon Bon Jovi, and Journey.
(Also 1953) FREAKING JEFF FATT aka JEFF FROM THE WIGGLES (the purple one who was always sleeping and my personal favorite) was born on this day.
(1955) the birthdate of Norman Epstein, a bassist who played with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Birthdate of a Dutch singer named Taco. Not kidding. (Also 1955)
(1957) bday of John Lovitz, a castmember on SNL from 1985-1990.
(1970) Michael Fitzpatrick of Fitz and the Tantrums
(1971) Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg’s daughter, Charlotte was born on this day. She’s a French-American actress, singer, and songwriter.
Bob Marley’s son, Damian. (I’m getting lazy so im not gonna describe anything anymore unless it’s extremely significant)
Paloma Faith, a singer.
Actress Juno Temple
These next ones are deaths
Death date of Ruth St. Denis, a dancer
David Garroway, the founding host and anchor of the Today Show.
Jerry Goldsmith, a composer who most notably wrote scores for Star Trek movies
John Baldry, a singer
Mako, an actor
John Heard, the actor who played the dad in Home Alone and Home Alone 2. He passed on this day in 2017 in Palo Alto, which is Kenny’s birthplace.
That’s all folks!
Okay JATP fandom I have a question: how much time do we think passed between when Luke ran away and the guys died?
We know Luke ran away around Christmas time and the guys were 17 when they died. We also know Luke was 17 when he ran away and I’ve been assuming he has a fall birthday (?) so he’d have to have died before then. But they’re all wearing coats when they die which makes it seem like they died in the wintertime but some of the Unsaid Emily flashbacks have spring vibes to me ? I just cannot figure out a timeline for this y’all please send help
#i spent way too long on this#jatp#julie and the himbos#julie and the phantoms#jatp theory#kenny ortega#sunset curve
