SE Staffel 1 Rewatch (Folgen 71-74)

Die Szene in der Alexandra und Atze über Sterne reden ist so schön gemacht, was vor allem an der Musik liegt, die ist toll. Ausnahmsweise sehr passend und nicht Jailhouse Rock oder sowas 😅 aber den andern geht das mit den beiden nicht schnell genug... Können sie bitte aufhören, sich einzumischen? Lasst Alexandra und Atze das doch bitte in ihrem eigenen Tempo machen! (Der Kuss auf die Wange und wie sie dann näher zusammenrücken ist aber auch einfach maximal süß 🥹)

Wie Iris, Nadine und Antje die Briefe von Wilhelmine und Isabella lesen und deren Geschichte aus den 30ern erfahren. Auch super schön 🥹 (nur Briefgeheimnis sagt ihnen wohl nix^^) Ich find es nur seltsam, dass sie ausgerechnet den letzten Brief ins Jahr 1933 gesetzt haben, die ganze Geschichte aber nichts mit dem Nationalsozialismus zu tun hat. Ich hätte gedacht, dass die beiden Freundinnen sich über ihre politischen Ansichten so endgültig und unwiderruflich zerstritten haben. Aber nein, es war natürlich wegen eines Mannes. Was auch sonst 🙄 (sorry, finde Eifersucht als Motiv immer maximal langweilig)

Marc verdächtigt Pasulke, dass er ihn und Oliver um das Geld für die Briefmarken, die sie ihm gegeben haben, betrügen will. Und er nennt ihn "der Typ". Marc, nein! Das ist ja schon fast Blasphemie! 😠

Das Gespräch von Frau Seifert und Frau Riemann über die Träume ihrer Töchter und ihre eigenen Träume hittet glaub ich echt nochmal doller, wenn man erwachsen ist und mit etwas Abstand auf die eigene Jugend und die Beziehung mit den eigenen Eltern zurückschauen kann (und bestimmt auch nochmal anders, wenn man selbst Kinder hat). Frau Seiferts Position ist da so toll! Sie sagt, dass sie Veras Wunsch an die Kunsthochschule zu gehen, unterstützt, obwohl ihr diese Welt fremd ist und ihr die Jobaussichten eigentlich zu unsicher. "Wir haben doch alle irgendwelche geplatzten Träume - aber die werden doch nicht automatisch weitervererbt. Wer sagt denn, dass unsere Kinder nicht besser sind als wir? Oder mehr Glück haben?" Vera kann sich so glücklich schätzen, dass ihre Mutter so ist 🥹

Antje hat Angst, sitzen zu bleiben und macht sich so einen Druck, dass sie ihr "letzte Chance"-Referat natürlich auch direkt noch verhaut. Die Arme. Und dann rennt sie in den Wald (dramatisch!) und wir lernen: SE führt wichtige Gespräche seit 25 Jahren im Wald. Damals saß man aber noch oben auf Bäumen und nicht so lame auf einem Baumstamm am Boden^^

Finds so witzig, dass Alexandra und Tom immer diejenigen sind, zu denen alle kommen, wenn sie irgendeine Frage oder irgendein auch nur annähernd technisches Problem haben, und die beiden können einfach ALLES und kennen sich mit ALLEM aus. Convenient 😅

Pätzold und Weber verlassen zum Jahresende die Schule und gehen nach... falsch, nicht nach Köln, nach Stuttgart. Bin stolz auf SE, dass sie sich eine zweite deutsche Stadt ausgesucht haben^^

Wolfert ist grade ultra anstrengend. Ich glaub, der braucht dringend Urlaub. TW: Blood and insanity mentions

New Intentions: Olive Frascherson learns the life of a teenager at Goldeneye Academy making new friends in the way. Being some of them George Beard and Harold Hutchins. Then, she meets again with her twin sister, Isabella Frascherson and her childhood friend, Daniel Layvers, who is now the vice president at the student council. Just when everything goes right, she soon meets Mr. Krupp, the new principal and a kid named "Candy", president at the student council. She, along with her new friends live different adventures to defeat monsters who seek for destruction and villains who seek for domination. Will they make it with Captain Underpants's help? Mexican AU: It's almost like Captain Underpants but what if instead of being in Piqua was it in Guadalajara? What if instead of Jerome Horwitz, it was Primaria Itzani? and What if instead of having a few villains, they would fight all of Mexico's current problems in society? Next Gen: George and Harold after marrying Lisa and Billy and had their children respectively. Just like 6 years after the 12th books events, specifically with Nik Beard and his new best friend, Kei Hutchins revive Captain Underpants making a new invention and bringing him to life so that he watches over the city, visits them to their new treehouse and save the school (If they're unlucky, the whole city or planet) from evil Tied Up Obsession: Harold Hutchins, after being saved from a group of bullies by Erica Wang become best friends, until after 2 years of knowing each other, Erica leaves Jerome Horwitz temporaly, which leads Harold to meeting George Beard, but at second 0 that he met George, a series of murders have been going on! Will Harold solve this case with the few friends he has? Happy Tree Underpanty Comics: When nothing interesting happened, Jerome Horwitz received an invitation to unknown lands, which Mr. Krupp couldn't say no to, due to the fact that it was obligatory. Resulting in George, Harold, Mr. Krupp and the rest of the school be in Happy Tree Land and meeting new students from there and somehow being in wholesome, crazy, dangerous and bloody situations that can't come in handy easily. Genderbent: Meet Gwen Beard and Harriet Hutchins! Gwen is George's genderbend self and Harriet is Harold's. Remember that now, because in this AU, it's most likely in the books, but the genders are all bent!

Cheng Peng and Lei Wang (CHN) have withdrawn from both of their assignments - the Grand Prix de France and the Cup of China. At the Cup of China, they are being replaced by Yuchen Wang / Lei Zhu.

So I noticed a strange little thing that probably only will be interesting for me. Still, I gotta share it, because I don’t know what else to do with it. In that scene in the magic trick shop in Good Omens s2 ep4, the shop owner mentions a man, William Ellsworth Robinson, who got killed doing the bullet trick in 1918. Robinson used the stage name Chung Ling Soo, pretended to be from China, and claimed to have been the pupil of Albert Taen Arr Hee, a known magician/ acrobat/ tradesman from China. I have been hyperfocusing on Albert Taen Arr Hee and his family for three years, mostly because I looked for a possible connection to my family tree, and then I ended up falling down a bottomless rabbit hole. 

You see, Albert Taen Arr Hee was part of one of the very first Circus troups from China that toured USA and Europe. Also, he had an adoptive sister, Achuen Grace Amoy Eaton, or, she was most likely sold as a child to his parents, Tuck Quy and Wang Noo. Tuck Quy led this group of Chinese jugglers and acrobats that toured the world. While Albert stayed on as a circus artist and later became a tradesman, Grace escaped the circus life, married and moved with her family to Canada. She was the mother to the well-known authors Edith Maude Eaton (“Sui Sin Far”) and Winnifred Eaton (Onoto Watanna). 

You can see how I could so easily fall down this rabbit hole, right? This family had so many intriguing stories to tell.

Oh, and Albert married Frances Poolman, the sister to Isabella Poolman, or Bella Freeman, who was a coffee shop owner, brothel madam and fence, who supposedly devoted her life and money to tracking down the Whitechapel murderer. Because she had been familiar with one of his victims. Bella was prosecuted a number of times for running a disorderly house. She ended up very rich, apparently.

Oh, and Albert founded the stores of China & Japan Goods TAEN-Arr-Hee, in Berlin and Dresden, around 1880, and his sons took over, and that’s a whole other story. 

Anyway. I just never expected to stumble over the mention of this magician Robinson, who more or less was connected to all of these other stories (and more). I shouldn’t be surprised, of course. Neil Gaiman knows how to sprinkle his stories with interesting anecdotes and historic facts like these.
