Title: Breathe
Music: Lauv - Breathe
Anime: Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara
Why is it good?: I'm not familiar with this anime but this video, with a good editing that well matches music and lyrics, narrates with care the drama of the main character, whose world has lost its colours, her pain and suffering as well as how finally she finds them back again.

Yuri Romance Light Novel from the Creator of 'Adachi and Shimamura' Licensed in English
On Friday, Yen Press announced that it has licensed the Yuri drama light novel series My First Love's Kiss (Watashi no Hatsukoi Aite ga Kiss Shiteta) and will release the first volume in August 2024. The series is written by Adachi and Shimamura creator Hitoma Iruma and illustrated by popular Yuri artist Fly (Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki).
The publisher describes the series:
Takasora Hoshiâs life is upended when a girl from her class named Umi Mizuike and her mother temporarily move into her familyâs cramped apartment. From the outset of this arrangement, Takasora finds herself annoyed by Umiâs behavior...and her good looks. And though the two girls initially agree to avoid interfering with each otherâs lives, Takasora canât help but start to wonder where Umi keeps wandering off to at nightâŠ
My First Love's Kiss is connected to Iruma's high school Yuri series Adachi and Shimamura, with crossover characters appearing in later volumes. However, unlike that series, its story is more bittersweet and gloomy.
The light novels began publication in Japan in January of 2022 under ASCII Media Works's Dengeki Bunko imprint. The third and final Japanese volume was released in December of that year.
Hitoma Iruma is a Japanese author best known for his series Ground Control to Psychoeletric Girl and Adachi and Shimamura, both of which received anime and manga adaptations. He frequently collaborates with Bloom Into You creator Nio Nakatani, working with her on the Bloom Into You spin-off series, Regarding Saeki Sayaka, and the original light novel works End Blue and Shoujo Mousou Chuu.
Fly is an illustrator known especially for her Yuri artwork and for illustrating Bottom-Tier Characters Tomozaki and Chasing after Aoi Koshiba, as well as creating Kemono Friends and providing the character designs for P.A. Works' Iroduku: The World in Colors. Fly has also contributed artwork, cover illustrations, and manga for several anthologies, including four volumes of Syrup (Licensed by Seven Seas), the first Bloom Into You Anthology (Seven Seas), and Ă©clair (Yen Press).
You can check out My First Love's Kiss when Yen Press releases the first volume in English this August.

Tentative List of Submissions
Until the list of submissions is finalized, I will be accepting appeals for/against any of the shows on this list. SEND YOUR APPEALS THROUGH THIS BLOGâS SUBMIT PAGE. Appeals left in the replies or sent to my asks/DMâs will now be ignored.
By the way, I donât follow a set standard in determining whether a show is underrated or not. I may keep in mind MyAnimeList ratings, but ratings are not absolute.
Some shows may have low stats on MAL, yet have strong voting power on Tumblr. Some may be popular in their home country but are not so well-known in English fandoms. (Tumblr is a site where most users are USAmericans, so the voting power is mainly with them. I have to consider this.)
Red - at risk of being removed
Blue - formerly accepted, but changed to pending/rejected upon an appeal/further review
Violet - formerly under rejected/pending, but now accepted
Green - newly-added
Orange - Triggers not stated. If youâre the submitter, please edit your submission in the form. Alternatively, you can add them to the Triggers Sheet (non-submitters can also help). If the show has no triggers, please still edit the form/sheet and check the âNoneâ option so that Iâll know that you didnât just forget. Thank you!

All shows that didnât remove their pending status before Oct. 20, 8pm EST have been moved to Rejected.
Rejected
If no reason is stated, then that show has been rejected simply because itâs not considered underrated.
Angel Beats
Assassination Classroom
Astra: Lost in Space - insufficient/unconvincing propaganda
Buddy Daddies - one of the popular recent anime. Also has 390k tag followers on Tumblr
Cap Kakumei Bottleman DX - Propaganda contains too many spoilers. Also lacks triggers
Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card - Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the most popular shoujo. And since anime with multiple seasons are counted as one, the year the first season was released is what will be checked. Season 1 of CCS was released in 1998, so itâs disqualified from this tournament.
Death Parade
Delicious Party Precure - This show is apparently part of an extremely popular franchise. The propaganda for it was also not enough.
Dr. Stone - One of the recent mainstream anime. Ranked #54 on MAL for popularity with over 1 million members.
Inazuma Eleven GO
Kyoukai no Kanata - Has over a million members on MAL, rated by over 500k people, and is ranked #122 in terms of popularity. Also has 9.7k tag followers on Tumblr, which is very high compared to the other accepted shows
Kyousou Giga - insufficient/unconvincing propaganda and lacks triggers
Mekakucity Actors - the anime itself isnât popular, but Kagerou Project, the Vocaloid music video series which it is based on, is extremely popular. #kagerou project has 14k tag followers.
Meganebu - insufficient/unconvincing propaganda and lacks triggers
Monthly Girlsâ Nozaki-kun
Noragami - Ranked #47 in Tumblrâs Top AniManga Fandoms in 2021
Odd Taxi - won several awards during the 6th Crunchyroll Anime Awards as well as won against the iconic The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in this poll with over 3k votes.
Planetarian - insufficient/unconvincing propaganda. Also lacks triggers.
Kekkai Sensen
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai - Doesnât have that many fics on AO3, but it ranks #52 on MAL in terms of popularity and has over 1M in both MAL users and members. Also has 1.4k tag followers on Tumblrânot a big number but still indicates an active fandom.
ShoujoâKageki Revue Starlight - Although itâs rated low on MAL, itâs apparently quite popular on Tumblr. It won against the very popular Sailor Moon in another poll tournament with over 9k votes.
Tai Chi Chasers - Submitter either made a mistake or outright lied about the year this show was released. They stated 2011, but the actual year is 2007. Thatâs before 2010, which disqualifies it from this tournament.
Tian Guan Ci Fu/Heaven Officialâs Blessing - made it to Tumblrâs top AniManga fandoms. It was ranked #14 in 2021 and #16 in 2022.
Vatican Miracle Examiner - insufficient/unconvincing propaganda

How Toriyama/Toyotaro salvaged "End of Z"
Let me start this post with a personal confession that may or may not be unpopular: I have very little interest in Dragon Ball DAIMA. I have slightly more than I used to after Akira Toriyama's death since I am naturally curious to see what the last Dragon Ball related material he ever produced is like, but otherwise it still looks like just a different take on Dragon Ball GT, my least favorite Dragon Ball series, except that more characters than just Goku turn young and it's the Demon Realm that's being explored instead of space. It also doesn't help that the head writer, Yuko Kakihara, makes me nervous - she's done fine work as an episodic script writer on anime such as Fresh Pretty Cure, My Bride is a Mermaid, and Pokémon Journeys, and she was fantastic as the head writer of IRODUKU: The World in Color. But in terms of shows closer to what Dragon Ball DAIMA seems like, she was head writer on that god-awful Stitch anime that Disney stupidly allowed to be made. Worse still, she was the writer of Digimon Adventure Tri. So you can understand why I have reservations.
Point is, I consider Dragon Ball DAIMA to be a sideshow, regardless of what its merits may end up being. For me personally, it's the manga/anime trilogy of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super that really counts the most. And as tragic as the circumstances behind the end of Toriyama's involvement on the latter are, I am highly impressed what he and his mangaka protégée Toyotaro were able to accomplish. With three major steps, they have substantially retconned the notoriously underwhelming ending of the original manga series and DBZ anime, known as "End of Z" among fans, in a way that makes a satisfying closure.
The first step was way back in Dragon Ball Online. Toriyama was involved back then in canonically mapping out the future of the Dragon Ball world, long after Goku, his friends and his family have passed away. And a major part of that was how Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Pan affected that world for the better in their adult lives. Gohan in particular has a masterful end to his long struggle between being a fighter and being a scholar by becoming a scholar on ki fighting techniques, publishing a study that makes it widely possible for humans around the world to master ki control and gain flight and energy blasts. It's a perfect outcome for him.
The second step was through Toriyama's involvement in the new movies and Super series. End of Z now cannot happen the way it was presented in the original manga and anime. There are way too many discrepancies, from character appearances, the lack of certain characters who it would make little sense not to be there, and details like "none of Goku's friends saw him for 5 years before then" which have now been completely contradicted. Obviously the 28th Budokai where Goku meets Uub and takes him under his wing for training is still canon, but that event is now free to transpire in a far more plausible and satisfactory way than the famously rushed, haphazard and OOC way in which it was depicted before.
The third and final step was the last collaboration between Toriyama and Toyotaro in the Super manga. The final three chapters they worked on together were an epilogue to the story of the Super Hero film, actually tying its plot together with the side plot featuring Goku and Vegeta on Beerus' planet. Perhaps responding to prevalent criticisms, the movie had already made a major point of showing how the world can still be successfully defended by the Z Fighters even without Goku and Vegeta being there. And in these three chapters, the point is carried even further by having Goku test what the new generation is capable of, a theme that's even reflected in the final chapter's title, "Passing On To The Future". This completely recontextualizes End of Z. Originally made as a laughable attempt to salvage the "Goku passing the torch" direction with Uub in place of Gohan after Toriyama botched it so badly with him, now it makes Uub only the latest in a large field of fighters that includes Gohan. Now it's Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Pan, even Broly of all people, who are being gathered as Earth's next line of defense once Goku and Vegeta finally expire. Uub will join that group. (Oh, and being Namekian, both Piccolo and Dende will still be around to assist, of course.)
So while the narrative of Dragon Ball may have peaked with the Cell Saga, now the Majin Buu Saga -> Battle of Gods Saga -> Resurrection F Saga -> Universe 6 Saga -> Future Trunks / Goku Black Saga -> Universe Survival Saga -> Broly Saga -> Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga -> Granolah the Survivor Saga -> Super Hero Saga -> End of Z together create a worthier follow-up than just the Majin Buu Saga -> End of Z was back in the day. Certainly not perfect, even when leaving the loose ends out of it (so Freeza's just gonna stay loose out there with a new ultimate form?), but feeling much closer to a fully realized ending.
Thank you, Toriyama. You made it up as you went along right to the very end, but as usual, your remarkable creative talent managed to make it all fit together. You are deeply missed.

I was also thinking alongside the lines of an Umineko AU, where magic is actually real. The era of sorcerers and witches and alchemy and beasts are still generally assigned to being myths. It's still in regards to everything Ushiromiya and Rokkenjima and Beatrice.
I was thinking that magic would still be prevalent in ways similar to the anime Iroduku: A World In Color, or maybe something like Encanto where it runs in family lines and individuals have gifts. Or maybe Kinzo did something, who knows.
But Witches and Sorcerers magic, alchemy, is something long-forgotten and even rumored to have not actually existed - not like they do in stories. Which would further obscure Beatrice's heart in the Meta from Battler - because magic does exist, even if there's no one left that knows if Beatrice's magic is the real deal and killed everyone-
(Speaking of which, I wonder where exactly Meta-Battler's memory cuts off? At the airplane, in the cousins' room in the guesthouse? We never see him question in the vn where they are, I don't think. Does he assume Beatrice just ripped him through space and time to torment him with her games? Not to mention we know Rosa appears and is getting forcefed her family at the end of one of the episodes? Where does she go, after? Where does everyone else go? Are they just lurking in corners, out of sight?)
At the same time though, so much of Umineko is trying to pierce through the veil of magic - not to tear out the guts of the story, but to see the heart hiding underneath. In utilizing literal magic in the plot, even if things like occult black magic and sorcerers and witches and demons are deemed myth or legend, if writing with canon-context, wouldn't it clog the narrative?
Also, it's a rule in mysteries, isn't it? To not actually use supernatural creatures/abilities - including magic? At least, not to hand wave how the crime occurred and pull a solution out of thin air. Though, in a world where traces of magic exist, regardless, Sayo probably wouldn't use it? She wants someone to stop her, Battler to solve the mystery. Her murders - though not anyone else's, arguably - following the rules of a who-dunnit, how-dunnit, why-dunnit mystery.
Rambling here, sorry.
Putting this on anon, because I'm slightly afraid of offending anyone.
Honestly I think it all would really depend on the specifics of the AU and how magic would interact with the existing story to enhance or change it. If it ended up not really changing much, that wouldn't be interesting, but maybe it could. For example, maybe different types of magic are gendered, so 'witches' are generally supposed to have 'feminine' magic (healing, connecting with nature, emotions) and witches that have 'masculine' magic (controlling the elements, summoning powerful demons, etc.) is considered to be heretical or evil. Maybe Rosa encouraged or tolerated Maria's interest in magic at first, but as the abuse continued and Maria grew to be interested in 'unsuitable' magic that intensified the abuse and lead to a cycle. Just an example I'm throwing out - I'm not the best with magic worldbuilding.
Magic being 'real' would probably impact a lot of the metaphors about magic as love, understanding, illusion, etc. though. You'd have to work with that a lot to try to figure out what to do to replace it with in such an AU. In Umineko proper, magic is sort of real but also sort of not, existing in a gray area where you can interpret it either way.
As for using magic in a mystery, Knox doesn't explicitly forbid it. The rules relating to the supernatural are "It is forbidden for supernatural agencies to be employed as a detective technique." and "It is forbidden for unknown drugs or hard to understand scientific devices to be used."
The first relates to the detective, so as long as Battler himself (or Erika) doesn't use magic to suddenly just know things, all is well. As for the second, it doesn't explicitly mention magic, but it mentions similar deus ex machinas. So long as the magic is explained, it should be able to be used as part of a mystery. Van Dine, however, does explicitly forbid supernatural methods of murder/crime. So take that as you will. (Van Dine's rules are very strict compared to Knox.)
It's really about, if you want to make an AU and you think you'll have fun with it, go ahead. I feel like people feel the need to put so much thought into AUs but people can just have AUs, whether they're really meaningful and significant or just fun, which is meaningful and significant in its own way. I have tons of AUs that are just... fun. And that's nice.

Catching up with Bravern and yeahhh Youhei Azakami is fast becoming one of my favourite seiyuu. He has such a smooth voice. You can totally get why he originally auditioned for HiMERU in Enstars.
Not that he isn't good as Rinne, he totally is, and Rinne must be such a fun role to do, but you should hear him in other roles too. He doesn't usually sound like that. :D For example, I liked him a lot in Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions, it was both funny and cool role. Kuuya in Aquatope on White Sand too (recommended anime btw! I'm a bit of a P.A. Works fan, they have a very nice catalogue and they've made one of my favourite anime too: Iroduku: the World in Colors).

Hi everyone! Figure since I'm getting a bit more active on here I should actually make an introductory post. You can call me Atari or Polaris, and my pronouns are he/they. I'm a neruodivergent genderqueer-transmasc who believes fully in acceptance of all good-faith identites. Radqueers, pedos/"MAPs", transid, TERFs, abliests, sysmeds - this doesn't mean you. I support everyone who's identity isn't harming someone else. This also means I am very strongly against any fakeclaiming and in support of educated self-diagnosis. I'm an adult and in uni studying game design :)
I don't have a hard DNI but I block liberally. Radqueers, transphobes, ableists, and other bigots should stay away. Don't try and pick fights here.

Anything queer, really
I do tend to reblog more serious activism posts, so if that isn't your cup of tea this blog might not be for you. It's also terribly unorganized. I might tag all the serious posts as something at some point, I'll update this if that happens.

Do you have a comfort show, game, or book?
Game: obviously 14. I also like farming Sims like harvest moon/story of seasons, Rune Factory, and Stardew valley. I also love the Tales of series and Fire Emblem.
Shows: I usually keep up with seasonal animes and usually there is one or two that brings me comfort. This season it is The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady and Tomo-chan is a Girl. Some all time classics for me are: The World God Only Knows, Laid-back Camp, Wave, Listen to Me, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, HoriMiya, Senyuu Girl, Tada Never Falls In Love, Violet Evergreen, and Iroduku: The World in Colors. I watch a lot of romance animes because my husband is all about them and it's one of our activities with each other.
Thanks for the ask @lookbluesoup

xiv. komunikasi.
saya suka kutipan-kutipan berikut:
i decided to stop limiting myself based on false presumptions.
even if it hurts, even if it won't come true, precious feelings will never disappear. (episode terakhir itu SANGAT indah.)
i'm sure we met in order to put the color back in each other's futures. (AAAAAAAH. XD)
