tfw you sign your soul over to an eldritch fear deity in order to regain some semblance of control over your own life (tma au)
nobody understands how fucking crazy i am about this au. its tormenting me. also epel is here as well he's corruption he has a lot of worms in him sorry in advance
closeups + design notes + au jamil fun facts under the cut!
(tw some body horror stuff? eye stuff)
design notes
his hair jewelry has been replaced with spider silk cocoons / string. also very obviously spider themed hair gem thing
spider eyes! both in the way of he has 8 human eyes and actual spider eyes on his neck
web tattoos. they spin outwards and grow in a kind of mesmerizing hypnotic pattern when he uses his powers
his braids now form a spiderweb pattern. hes also prematurely greying a little LOLL
his belt chains form a spiderweb pattern as well
he has piercings! an erl piercing across his nose bridge and four piercings on each ear
his pants are based off the spider-tailed horned viper-- a snake whose tail has evolved to look like a spider so the birds it feeds on will mistake its tail for prey
au jamil notes
his backstory pretty much remains the same honestly
except when he's around 11, instead of getting poisoned and falling into a coma, he gets trapped in a buried-aligned artifact that he touched while cleaning one of the asim treasure rooms
nobody could find him for weeks and kalim was really tearing up the whole estate about it because he insisted that jamil would never run off or disappear without a reason
jamil escapes the buried by taking the assistance of the web (he does it in the way of "i don't know what's going on but this thing is reaching out to help me and i don't want to die so fuck it" but he's still accepting the web into his life regardless)
after two weeks they find him covered in cobwebs and dust in the treasure room and he gets scolded for making everyone worry
he doesn't even bother trying to explain to people what happened to him because he knows it's too unbelievable for them. he spins a lie and he's surprised by how natural it is to just Lie to people
jamil's powers as an avatar of the web manifest visually as him "pulling strings" out of people's eyes. like unwinding their irises like they're spools of thread. if you've seen the prev post on web!jamil you know what it looks like
if he leaves the iris-strings half unwound they become very suggestible, very easily manipulated
however if he yanks out the iris-strings fully, he can turn the other person into a complete blank slate. no thoughts head empty. basically an empty cocoon of a person. he tends not to do this because 1) it's very conspicuous and 2) it renders the victim completely useless to the web
he has to concentrate very hard to do this and he can usually pull on only one person's iris-strings at a time
#twst#twisted wonderland#twst tma au#jamil viper#epel felmier#tw trypophobia#tw eye horror#heartscribbles#i hope you guys know how crazy i am about this#also i might expand on corruption!epel in another post#i just thought itd be fun. to fill this apple. WITH WORMS!#jamils trying really hard not to think about how spiders are bugs#hes latching onto the fact that spiders eat most bugs to avoid thinking too hard about his own spider theming

what pairings are you planning on doing?
Iris Law / VVD / TAA
If I ever finish. Can’t quite get it over the line and I’m more sure why. (Work its work and cleaning.)
Trent/Jude.
Sort off? Trent is barely in it. Harry is a neglectful captain. Anthony’s pissed off he’s not playing. Cole and Adam are playing uno (this may made it sound fun and breezy).
Jude/Anthony. Not demons. Neither of them. Narry a demon in sight.
I’m really really hoping Bruno doesn’t get traded because I have some ideas for him as well
And then the ones I will probably finish. Jobe /Dan and Jude’s obsession.
Mily /Ben/Martin. Whatever it’s not like he’s going to call. (He calls). Anyway she’s absolutely not going to fuck him (She totally fucks him).
Erling /Alex. I’d like to tidy up the one that I posted here where Erling is absolutely a normal human child and flesh it out and post it. I have many plans. I am wildly disorganised.

( au verse: world's end - dystopia/apocalyptic. )
— — — — ☣ DAYS SINCE LAST EVENT: unknown ☣
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? Truthfully? No one really knows. Blame is getting pointed everywhere all while no one is accepting the claim of the virus outbreak, so everyone and anyone is paranoid.
— WHERE THE STORY BEGINS: Lourdes was called back into military service three months after the outbreak started to crop up on the east coast of the United States. Upon re-entering the Marine Corps, she was promoted in rank and her unit was deployed with a heavily armed convoy to safely transport US Diplomat's to Camp David when the convoy was ambushed by people wanting extra supplies and then those people were overrun by the infected, along with the diplomats ( and their families ) and she was the only survivor of her unit. Passing out from the adrenaline rush, Lourdes woke up a few days later by herself in a fortified hardware store with a few guns, two or three months worth of extra ammo, a machete, and a rucksack.
— SAFE ZONES: Areas that have been fortified by groups or individuals after being cleared of the undead so that those wandering in need of rest / somewhere to stay can be safe.
Iris Island – Somewhere off the coast of North Carolina ( permission granted by sloane madison-pierce )
Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut | was moved onto an anchored floating raft & only accessible by a rope bridge. The survivors calling this safe zone home leave part of the bridge in the water until they can determine that you aren't being followed / chased.
Perryton, Texas | moreso near the border of Oklahoma. This safe zone doesn't trade often with outsiders but if they do? You'll end up running for them to get supplies til the leader decides to release you. They have UV lights ( lamps, flashlights ) here to scare off the infected.
Sisters, Oregon | From a population 2,100 down to 650 when the outbreak hit. Survivor's in this safe zone steal from other towns, ambushes convoys & murder outsiders. They also have one of the largest trading posts in the country, no one knows where the other is.
— TYPES OF INFECTED: Aside from the standard type of zombie that will chase you down, there are special types of infected roaming around that are worse than the rest.
Spitter
Screamer
Night Hunter

added, 10/18/2022 headcanons: ☣: Fairhope, Alabama has three types of additional "special" infected - demolishers, howlers,& sleepers. ( sleepers tended to be hunched over and looked like they were sleeping - make fast movement, loud noises, or getting too close in proximity and they WILL wake up. | Demolisher. | Howler. ) ☣: most stores were overrun in regards to regular clothing, so a lot of survivors ditched "regular" undergarments in exchange for swimwear. ☣: Lourdes has a leftover charcoal grill in her safe house ( in Fairhope ), along with a pot for boiling water that she collects in left behind plastic gas jugs. ( She will put the swimsuits in the boiling water for a few minutes and then let them dry over the shower rod in the bathroom. ) ☣: Demolishers show up just after sunset and drop off a Screamer in one spot, before shuffling off to another location to put Howlers down. It is safer to stay inside or remain completely unseen if you're out past sunset! ☣: All of the Northeast, along with three states in the southeast ( West Virginia, Virginia & District Of Columbia ) experience winter – heavy snowfalls & lots of ice due to no one being around to clear it away. Most, if not all survivors use the snow to boil down for drinking water. ☣: Salt water doesn't freeze over - please be mindful of the banks of any harbor area. Irradiated sea creatures ( otherwise known as Mirelurks ) dwell there. Their nests are easily spotted by the dinosaur sized eggs in the ground, and they will attack if you approach the nest / they spot you in the open. Their approach is easy to detect – the scuttling can be heard on the ice. ☣: Weather is VERY unpredictable – obviously. Rain can happen for a month straight, sometimes longer – or it can be that way with the heat. "Mild" seasons like spring and autumn last only a week or two in between the rainy season and the hot season. The south doesn't get snow, that's more up north – but it will be as cold as a desert in the south no matter the "season" during the night. ☣: Some national parks are still overrun with infected – mostly Glacier, Zion & Death Valley – the others aren't as overrun but there are plenty of decomposing bodies / rotting bodies still around. Because maintenance of the parks completely stopped, trails and buildings have become overgrown by plant life and some animal life as well. ☣: Pregnancy/having babies is at a steady decline; that's no surprise. One would think because now there's no mass produced protection - the numbers would be growing. Definitely not the case while in the middle of an apocalypse; food shortages / proper nutrition, proper medical care, clothing, not to mention the undead around almost every corner. A fair number of women who have survived the outbreak have figured out that mother nature has decided to take its course -- allowing animal life to reproduce but let human kind take a back seat for now. ( Most mother's do not survive childbirth now, and sometimes the babies don't either. )
added; October 20th, 2022 — York, Nebraska ! – population, 3k. — This safe zone is a HAVEN for those who have nowhere else to turn. No ulterior motives here, everyone helps everyone out. A twelve foot tall fence surrounds what remains of York University, guard towers having walkways attached to them that go six feet out to patrol at night — with UV lights dangling under each walkway. All manner of infected roam the streets here – including spitters, screamers, demolishers, feral ghouls, howlers, night hunters, and whatever else irradiated beasts roam freely. By choice — men and women live separate from each other, as they interact plenty throughout the little community these survivors share. ( however, just because they live separately doesn't mean anything stops them from being intimate – many know of couples who sneak off to the abandoned clock tower at the far end of the old campus or some of the old classrooms. ) Weapons are allowed here but only used outside the walls of the safe zone. Disputes are handled by fighting — unless it's two older citizens, they are usually given duties that will keep them apart if they are too old to fight. Sometimes, citizens end up leaving this safe zone because the fighting doesn't always quell the fighting. With law enforcement and the penal code utterly abolished, weed / cannabis grows legally in York safely. — The weed grown in the York settlement has two classifications; A: half the potency, will still get you high but not make you too high where you can't complete tasks. B: full potency, also laced with remnants of magic mushrooms — leaves users in a high for days sometimes a full week. not suggested or even given to first time users.

Hi, I was wondering if you have any recommendations for poems or books that explore the idea of the garden or nature as a character itself, or in which it has a magical or positive force? Something similar to its presence in The Secret Garden or Wuthering Heights? Thank you so much xx
Absolutely I do! It usually requires an adjustment for me, cognitively, to understand that the presence that lingers in a book is not human nor articulate, yet have a life of their own. In any case, I’d recommend you check out these, with some of them depicting nature in a soothing light and other using it as an ominous symbol (poetry and prose) :
Rebecca, Daphné du MaurierThe Wild Iris, Louise GlückAnne of Green Gables, L. M. Iris Erlings’ delicate drawings are inspired by the works of modernist sculptors
Iris Erlings has created MYND, a Risoprinted zine that depicts works by the illustrator’s favourite modernist sculptors including Jean Arp, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. “I’m really interested in sculpture and form, but I’ve only ever been good at making 2D images,” says Iris. “I decided I wanted to make drawings that represented the materiality, texture and physicality of these beautiful works. On top of that I mainly sourced referenced photos that came from old catalogues from around the 60s, where the image quality and high contrasts added another layer of texture to the sculptures.”
