So You Need To Buy A Computer But You Don't Know What Specs Are Good These Days

Hi.

This is literally my job.

Lots of people are buying computers for school right now or are replacing computers as their five-year-old college laptop craps out so here's the standard specs you should be looking for in a (windows) computer purchase in August 2023.

PROCESSOR

Intel i5 (no older than 10th Gen)

Ryzen 7

You can get away with a Ryzen 5 but an intel i3 should be an absolute last resort. You want at least an intel i5 or a Ryzen 7 processor. The current generation of intel processors is 13, but anything 10 or newer is perfectly fine. DO NOT get a higher performance line with an older generation; a 13th gen i5 is better than an 8th gen i7. (Unfortunately I don't know enough about ryzens to tell you which generation is the earliest you should get, but staying within 3 generations is a good rule of thumb)

RAM

8GB absolute minimum

If you don't have at least 8GB RAM on a modern computer it's going to be very, very slow. Ideally you want a computer with at least 16GB, and it's a good idea to get a computer that will let you add or swap RAM down the line (nearly all desktops will let you do this, for laptops you need to check the specs for Memory and see how many slots there are and how many slots are available; laptops with soldered RAM cannot have the memory upgraded - this is common in very slim laptops)

STORAGE

256GB SSD

Computers mostly come with SSDs these days; SSDs are faster than HDDs but typically have lower storage for the same price. That being said: SSDs are coming down in price and if you're installing your own drive you can easily upgrade the size for a low cost. Unfortunately that doesn't do anything for you for the initial purchase.

A lot of cheaper laptops will have a 128GB SSD and, because a lot of stuff is stored in the cloud these days, that can be functional. I still recommend getting a bit more storage than that because it's nice if you can store your music and documents and photos on your device instead of on the cloud. You want to be able to access your files even if you don't have internet access.

But don't get a computer with a big HDD instead of getting a computer with a small SSD. The difference in speed is noticeable.

SCREEN (laptop specific)

Personally I find that touchscreens have a negative impact on battery life and are easier to fuck up than standard screens. They are also harder to replace if they get broken. I do not recommend getting a touch screen unless you absolutely have to.

A lot of college students especially tend to look for the biggest laptop screen possible; don't do that. It's a pain in the ass to carry a 17" laptop around campus and with the way that everything is so thin these days it's easier to damage a 17" screen than a 14" screen.

On the other end of that: laptops with 13" screens tend to be very slim devices that are glued shut and impossible to work on or upgrade.

Your best bet (for both functionality and price) is either a 14" or a 15.6" screen. If you absolutely positively need to have a 10-key keyboard on your laptop, get the 15.6". If you need something portable more than you need 10-key, get a 14"

FORM FACTOR (desktop specific)

If you purchase an all-in-one desktop computer I will begin manifesting in your house physically. All-in-ones take away every advantage desktops have in terms of upgradeability and maintenance; they are expensive and difficult to repair and usually not worth the cost of disassembling to upgrade.

There are about four standard sizes of desktop PC: All-in-One (the size of a monitor with no other footprint), Tower (Big! probably at least two feet long in two directions), Small Form Factor Tower (Very moderate - about the size of a large shoebox), and Mini/Micro/Tiny (Small! about the size of a small hardcover book).

If you are concerned about space you are much better off getting a MicroPC and a bracket to put it on your monitor than you are getting an all-in-one. This will be about a million percent easier to work on than an all-in-one and this way if your monitor dies your computer is still functional.

Small form factor towers and towers are the easiest to work on and upgrade; if you need a burly graphics card you need to get a full size tower, but for everything else a small form factor tower will be fine. Most of our business sales are SFF towers and MicroPCs, the only time we get something larger is if we have to put a $700 graphics card in it. SFF towers will accept small graphics cards and can handle upgrades to the power supply; MicroPCs can only have the RAM and SSD upgraded and don't have room for any other components or their own internal power supply.

WARRANTY

Most desktops come with either a 1 or 3 year warranty; either of these is fine and if you want to upgrade a 1 year to a 3 year that is also fine. I've generally found that if something is going to do a warranty failure on desktop it's going to do it the first year, so you don't get a hell of a lot of added mileage out of an extended warranty but it doesn't hurt and sometimes pays off to do a 3-year.

Laptops are a different story. Laptops mostly come with a 1-year warranty and what I recommend everyone does for every laptop that will allow it is to upgrade that to the longest warranty you can get with added drop/damage protection. The most common question our customers have about laptops is if we can replace a screen and the answer is usually "yes, but it's going to be expensive." If you're purchasing a low-end laptop, the parts and labor for replacing a screen can easily cost more than half the price of a new laptop. HOWEVER, the way that most screens get broken is by getting dropped. So if you have a warranty with drop protection, you just send that sucker back to the factory and they fix it for you.

So, if it is at all possible, check if the manufacturer of a laptop you're looking at has a warranty option with drop protection. Then, within 30 days (though ideally on the first day you get it) of owning your laptop, go to the manufacturer site, register your serial number, and upgrade the warranty. If you can't afford a 3-year upgrade at once set a reminder for yourself to annually renew. But get that drop protection, especially if you are a college student or if you've got kids.

And never, ever put pens or pencils on your laptop keyboard. I've seen people ruin thousand dollar, brand-new laptops that they can't afford to fix because they closed the screen on a ten cent pencil. Keep liquids away from them too.

LIFESPAN

There's a reasonable chance that any computer you buy today will still be able to turn on and run a program or two in ten years. That does not mean that it is "functional."

At my office we estimate that the functional lifespan of desktops is 5-7 years and the functional lifespan of laptops is 3-5 years. Laptops get more wear and tear than desktops and desktops are easier to upgrade to keep them running. At 5 years for desktops and 3 years for laptops you should look at upgrading the RAM in the device and possibly consider replacing the SSD with a new (possibly larger) model, because SSDs and HDDs don't last forever.

COST

This means that you should think of your computers as an annual investment rather than as a one-time purchase. It is more worthwhile to pay $700 for a laptop that will work well for five years than it is to pay $300 for a laptop that will be outdated and slow in one year (which is what will happen if you get an 8th gen i3 with 8GB RAM). If you are going to get a $300 laptop try to get specs as close as possible to the minimums I've laid out here.

If you have to compromise on these specs, the one that is least fixable is the processor. If you get a laptop with an i3 processor you aren't going to be able to upgrade it even if you can add more RAM or a bigger SSD. If you have to get lower specs in order to afford the device put your money into the processor and make sure that the computer has available slots for upgrade and that neither the RAM nor the SSD is soldered to the motherboard. (one easy way to check this is to search "[computer model] RAM upgrade" on youtube and see if anyone has made a video showing what the inside of the laptop looks like and how much effort it takes to replace parts)

Computers are expensive right now. This is frustrating, because historically consumer computer prices have been on a downward trend but since 2020 that trend has been all over the place. Desktop computers are quite expensive at the moment (August 2023) and decent laptops are extremely variably priced.

If you are looking for a decent, upgradeable laptop that will last you a few years, here are a couple of options that you can purchase in August 2023 that have good prices for their specs:

14" Lenovo - $670 - 11th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD

15.6" HP - $540 - 11th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD

14" Dell - $710 - 12th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD

If you are looking for a decent, affordable desktop that will last you a few years, here are a couple of options that you can purchase in August 2023 that have good prices for their specs:

SFF HP - $620 - 10th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD

SFF Lenovo - $560 - Ryzen 7 5000 series, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD

Dell Tower - $800 - 10th-gen i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD

If I were going to buy any of these I'd probably get the HP laptop or the Dell Tower. The HP Laptop is actually a really good price for what it is.

Ohh the precinct! It is going to be a major case of "don't know what you've got until it's gone" for that entire building only so so much worse because Aizawa and Nedzu are both going to end up involved.

Because yeah, they're never going to find someone of Izuku's skill level to replace him, and especially not with the pay/hours/abuse he tends to put up with. So, like you said, workload/budget/etc all that would have to take a hit to replace him.

And that's before Nedzu puts a black mark on them as a whole and then Gran finds out just how bad shit is because you called it, he's also gonna be pissed.

Like, RIP Tsukauchi and Sansa, you both might want to straight up move.

Once Aizawa is able to get Izuku home with him? Oh Izuku is gonna settle into this new domesticity (with some anxiety but full enthusiasm) meanwhile Aizawa has a kill list and no regrets.

Kurusu Kazuki

28 years old, assassin

Birthday: 16th May

Voice actor: Toyonaga Toshiyuki

Lives with his colleague and buddy Rei, and looks after his daily needs. When working with Rei, his responsibilities are mostly arranging the contract, gathering intel in advance, and setting up the plan for execution. Excellent communication skills. Fond of women and gambling. Good at cooking and cleaning, and periodically chides Rei for his sloppy lifestyle. Was married in the past, and his wife was pregnant, but she died as a result of some shady business dealings. As penance for this, he sends part of his earnings to his wife’s younger sister, but she refuses to accept it.

Suwa Rei

25 years old, assassin

Birthday: 10th August

Voice actor: Uchiyama Koki

A man of few words. Usually doesn’t even bat an eye when Kazuki comes staggering home. Outstanding physical ability; at the top of the field in hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship. There is a drastic contrast between his ON (professional) and OFF (private) modes - at home, he just shuts himself in and plays games. Born into a large mob family, he received special assassin training from his father ever since his childhood. Unable to escape the conflicts in his family, he has no understanding of normal parent-child relationships.

Unasaka Miri

4 years old

Birthday: 8th November

Voice actor: Kino Hina

A truly lively, innocent girl who fears nothing. Showed up at a hotel in search of her father, and got caught up in a gunfight, but was rescued by Kazuki. Her father was a prominent human trafficker and a mafia boss; he was killed by Kazuki and Rei as one of their mission targets. Her mother was the boss’s lover. Miri’s favourite food is the hamburg steak her mother makes; she has no idea that she has been abandoned. An affectionate child, she calls Kazuki “Kazuki-papa”, and Rei “Rei-papa”.

Kugi Kyutaro

32 years old, cafe owner

Voice actor: Morikawa Toshiyuki

A go-between who coordinates jobs for Kazuki and Rei. Usually puts on a friendly demeanour as the owner of the cafe “Mistletoe”. Keenly perceptive, and remarkably well-informed. Knows a lot about Kazuki and Rei’s pasts, but for some reason, has never intervened, and keeps their relationship squarely within the limits of a business transaction. Generally acts like a kind older brother, but when a job goes wrong, will also readily discard all that to be completely businesslike. A reliable partner to Kazuki and Rei, but keeps them on their toes.

Ogino Ryo

Age unknown, assassin

Voice actor: Madono Mitsuaki

A killing machine who has murdered many people without a trace of emotion. He’s destroyed numerous organisations with his massive physique and overwhelming strength, and travels all over in search of work. Acquainted with Kyutaro. He is connected with the incident in which Kazuki’s wife died, but Kazuki is unaware of this.

Unasaka Misaki

34 years old, bar hostess and singer

Voice actor: Mori Nanako

Miri’s mother. After an affair with Miri’s father, who was a mafia boss, she had Miri as a single mother. Has bad luck with men, and leads a wild life.

Hanyu Anna

24 years old, daycare employee

Voice actor: Terui Haruka

A staff member at “Blue Sky Daycare”. Has a calm and gentle personality. The children call her “Anna-chan”. Not good at playing the piano.

Kurusu Yuzuko

25 years old at death

Kazuki’s beloved wife. Passed away in an incident while pregnant.

Izumi Karin

22 years old, student

Voice actor: Hasegawa Ikumi

Yuzuko’s younger sister. Was sincerely delighted by her sister’s marriage to Kazuki. Plans to go abroad to study fashion in France.

Rei's father, and the boss of the organisation. Ever since Rei was a child, he drilled the techniques and mindset of an assassin into him. As head of the organisation, he shows no mercy even to family.

A member of the organisation. Taught Rei how to use firearms and handle missions.

I am Chiaki Nanami, the former Ultimate Gamer and now a member of Future Foundation, 14th division. Currently, I'm doing a few side quests. Most of which are locating and rescuing survivors, as well as calming down everyone that's temporarily living in the 'safe houses' the Future Foundation has set up. My main quest however...

Is to locate and save the Remnants of Despair behind my organisations back. I guess this is treason, but I can't stand the thought of having my former classmates and friends mercilessly slaughtered. Chiaki is snapped out of her thoughts by the ringing of her cellphone. "H-Hello? This is Ryota Mitarai, a member of the 10th division. Is this Chiaki Nanami?" Ah, it's Mitarai-kun. "...Yes, this is Chiaki Nanami. What are you calling for?" There's a pause and a bit of rustling coming from the other end of the phone. "Ah, um, are you... alone right now? I-I have some... confidential stuff to talk with you about. I'd rather not risk the wrong person overhearing..."

She quickly looked around to make sure she's really alone before responding, "...Yeah, it's just me. I know what you want to talk about... I think." An audible sigh could be heard from Ryotas end. "O-oh! Tha-that's good... I guess I don't need to explain myself then?" Chiaki made to nod before realizing he can't see her. "...Yep. It's about the Remnants, right? You don't want them to get hurt, either... right?"

"Y-yeah... I d-didn't know them all as well as you did but... E-everyone I did meet where all... wonderful and nice people... m-mostly..." His voice trailed off at the end, but... Chiaki knew what he meant. Tsumiki-san... "...And I... I want t-to... make up for everything I've done. I-it's all... a-all my fa-fault a-any-nywa-way-" No longer able to keep it together, he broke out into sobs. "...Mitarai-kun. It's okay, it's not your fault. Enoshima-san made you do it, right? So she's the one who did wrong." Comforting -or dealing with emotions in general- has never been Chiaki's strong suit. Because of that, she even struggles with dating simulators or any game that relies on reading social cues and the emotions of the characters despite her title of 'Ultimate Gamer'.

Ryota had a long pause, the only sound from his end being the quiet sobs he couldn't stifle. "...M-moving on... I called you because I... found some intel on Remnant action. Two of them have reportedly been seen lurking around close to the ruins of Hope's Peak Academy." Around Hope's Peak...? That's where I'm at, too... "I-I'm afraid I don't know which ones though... If you plan to search for them you should be careful. T-the reports say they don't seem to be doing much, but they're p-probably just waiting for the perfect time to strike."

"...Do you have any specifics of where they frequent? It's gonna be tough to search the entire surrounding area for just two people."

"U-um, well, o-one of them seem to be staying c-close to the school... They don't seem to wander around much. N-not to the point it's been noticed at least... As for the other one... Let me see... Oh! Looks like they commonly lurk about the Reserve Course department and some of the nearby housings." The Reserve Course department? Is it... Hi- ah, Kamukura-kun...? If it is, I need to find him quick. ...Oh, but... Since he's not brainwashed, saving him might be difficult... Hi- Kamukura-kun is the first one, and probably the strongest one too... He's totally the 'final boss' of the Remnants. Oh wait, Enoshima-san should be the final one... Guess Kamukura-kun would be the second-to-final boss, then... Or maybe third? There's Ikusaba-san too, after all...

"...Um... Nanami-san?" Snapped out of her internal final boss rant, she remembered she was, in fact, still in a phone call. "...Oh, sorry. I was thinking." Ryota awkwardly laughed. "Ah, um, it's fine... W-was my intel helpful?" Having to stop herself from nodding again, she settled for a simple, "Mhm. Very helpful. I'll head out to look for them soon, since I'm in that area anyway." Chiaki felt a chill suddenly run up her spine. She could feel eyes on her. "...Actually, I should head out right now."

"R-right now? Isn't it a bit too dark out...?"

"Yep. Right now. Gottagobye-"

"Nana-!" She hung up. The feeling of being watched is never pleasant, and it's even worse when you're speaking about delicate topics in hostile enviourments. The eyes never seemed to stray from her even as she got up and went ahead on her search.

As unpleasant as it was, she got the feeling whoevers watching her didn't mean her any harm.

The adjusted description is: "After a character to which Sparks 'n' Splash is attached uses a Skill: Deals 2 Pyro DMG to their team's active character. Usages: 2."

Adjusts the description of Talent Card "Sin of Pride" in Genius Invokation TCG.

The original description was: "If a friendly Electro character has Crowfeather Cover attached, their Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst deal +1 additional DMG."

The adjusted description is: "When Kujou Sara is active and has this card equipped, all allied Electro characters with Crowfeather Cover will deal +1 additional Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG."

Adjusts the number of Elemental Dice required for the Event Card "Katheryne" in Genius Invokation TCG: the required dice has been reduced from 2 Elemental Dice of your choice to 1.

Adjusts the effect of the Elemental Burst "Nereid's Ascension" generated by Character Card "Sangonomiya Kokomi" in Genius Invokation TCG.

The original effect was: "Deals 3 Hydro DMG. This character gains Ceremonial Garment."

The adjusted effect is: "Deals 2 Hydro DMG. Heals all allied characters for 1 point. This character gains Ceremonial Garment."

Arca Company Barracks, Triple Zero (Coruscant)

After the black op on Coruscant where they pretended to be on leave, Omega Squad didn’t have a lot of proper days off. Getting back on Triple Zero mostly meant for them, getting quick fixes with bacta, updating their HUDs with new perks and replacing damaged equipment. Sometimes they had a proper debriefing with General Zey and his aid, Alpha ARC trooper Captain Maze, but it was usually Ordo’s who collected Niner’s reports. By the same occasion, they could exchange some very off-grid intel. Love letters for Darman and Atin, snacks from Kal Skirata and Bardan Jusik.

Niner usually kept himself busy with familiarizing himself with updating procedures and getting ready for the next mission, Fi, on the other hand, didn’t have much to do. No girlfriends to wait for him, or care, he felt pretty lonely during those times. Which was also a perfect occasion to annoy Ordo with his endless blathering.

Fi never fully understood why the Null ARC trooper tolerated him. That’s true, Ordo saw Fi saving a bunch of police officers on Coruscant a couple months ago but that didn’t explain why he let the vein on his forehead pulsate with irritation. The commando’s intuition was usually good about guessing when to stop pushing buttons  but with the Null, it was hard to predict.

That’s why when Fi received a direct message on his ‘pad from his brother, he didn’t know what to think about. The Null asked him to talk…privately. 

‘’ Wanna see me alone Captain? Should I have brought flowers and chocolate for this secret date? ’’ Fi said, joking his way into the private quarter and testing the water. 

‘’ ‘Wouldn't mind the snacks, ner vod. Want some caf? ‘’

‘’ Sure! Can you draw a cute tooka-cat in the milk? I love when people make fun patterns in their drinks! ’’

‘’ No snacks, no fun patterns.’’ Ordo answered, deadpan.

‘’ ‘Will remember that for next time! So… How can I help? ’’

‘‘Sit. Please.’’

‘’Okay… ’’

Ordo poured a very hot and high quality smelling jug of caf, gave one mug to his brother and took a sip in his before developing.

‘’ I would like to ask you how do you cope. ‘’

Fi looked at the Null ARC with wide eyes. Clearly, he didn’t expect that question.

‘’ What do you mean? ’’

‘’ I’m not asking, how are you today, I’m asking you how you manage to stay cheery and smiling all the time. I see how you are with your squad. Always lifting them up.‘’

The commando stopped playing with the spoon in his mug and looked at the wall, slightly unfocused. 

‘’ I just do, Captain. I have to keep going.’’ he said with a tone of voice that was not entirely convincing.’’

‘’ I wish I could learn to be more carefree. ‘’

‘’ Oh.’’ Fi said,  tasting his drink appreciatively. ‘’ ‘Telling you the truth sir, I am not. Quite the opposite. I care a lot. ‘’ 

‘’ So. How do you cope then? ’’

The trooper stood up and walked a few steps in the room, his face showing a very neutral expression. 

‘’ I don’t. ‘’

‘’ Vod.’’

Not knowing what to do, the Null also stood up and joined the commando on his side of the office. 

‘’ I know I have some gaps in understanding social cues, but I had no idea… ‘’ he said softly.

‘’ Because I’m good at masking it. Remember Kamino? I couldn't afford looking all sad and moody, what would have happened to me? Depressed clones are not fit for duty. ‘’

‘’ I know that.’’

‘’ What I truly feel doesn’t matter to anyone. ‘’

‘’ It matters to me and to Kal’buir. ’’ 

‘’ And to my squad I suppose. That’s why I don’t want to be a burden for them. If I can make them smile, at least I can help them in a way. We all lost our pod squad. We are a patchwork one, as Delta would say.’’ 

‘’ Delta are di’kute. They don’t understand what you lads have been through.’’

‘’ I still don’t wish any of them to go missing. It feels like… I’ve lost a part of myself in Geonosis.’’ 

‘’ I don’t know how I would react if I was to lose one of my five close brothers, Kal�� or you. Please stop calling me sir and Captain between us, just call me Ordo or vod.’’

‘’ Thanks then… I didn’t know I was counting this much for you.’’ 

They both stayed in silence for a while, drinking awkwardly till Fi finished his caf.

‘’ It’s not that I lie or pretend to be cheery you know… I just want you to know that. I do it because it’s who I am. My duty sort of speaks. Who will make the squad smile in the darkest hour if not me? How can I expect to have something to look forward to if not the next joke popping in my mind to have a laugh? Without those funny bits in our lives, we have nothing left as a being. ‘’

Ordo took a deep breath and looked his brother in the eyes for a long moment. 

‘’I think I have some leftover biscuits. Want me to share with you? Want more caf? ‘’

‘’ Certainly! Let me draw a fun pattern in the milk then! I’m not a super barista artist, but I can manage to make my ideas understandable. ‘’

‘’ Help yourself. ‘’ said the Captain. Fi drew something with the spoon and put some extra spices tactically. Then he turned to his bigger brother with a sparkle in the eyes. ‘’ That’s no cute tooka-cats… That’s a fierfek d* …’’

‘’ … And fit for duty, sir! I mean, Ordo! ‘’ He interrupted him and smiled mischievously.

(Fem) Izuna Uchiha

(It occurs to me that I've never done a text post on Izuna herself. Everyone connected to her, sure, but not her. Let's fix that.)

Izuna was born February 10th and was 24 when she died, leaving behind a wife and twin daughters.

Her mother died in childbirth, hemorrhaging from the strain of delivering five children in as many years. Tajima would blame her for the death and treat her accordingly.

She doesn't remember most of her brothers, having lost them too young to have even really formed memories of them. Madara often tells her stories of her brother (and her mother), but Izuna doesn't really care all that much, unable to bring herself to mourn the loss of people she never really knew.

(She'll never tell him that though, not wanting him to know how truly heartless she can be)

Growing up, her true father figure was her maternal uncle Yuki. Even after she was forced to be a boy, he would always refer to her as his little girl when they were alone.

At first, being called a boy was hard and made her want to curl up and cry whenever it happened. She struggled not to cry when her hair was cut off and her mother's hairpins (the only thing Izuna had of her) were sold off.

However, over time she would get used to it and become mostly indifferent to what people called her. She would only ask that Madara and her wife, Asa, refer to her as a woman when they were alone.

She, like her mother before her, had a summon contract with the cats. The two she summoned most often were Shiro and Kuro, the twins who kept her brother safe and warm when he was born during a storm of the century blizzard.

She would pass the contract down to her daughters, only one would sign it though. It would be passed down the line until it reached Mikoto herself, who also didn't want to sign it and would instead offer it to her husband. Shiro, at least, would be a frequent sight among the Uchiha for the next few decades. Kuro, however, was a bit rougher and would get annoyed at being summoned unless offered something (most often fish) in return.

(The exceptions to Kuro's general standoffishness would be Izuna, who's presence he enjoyed, and Itachi, who would never sign the contract but would always be a kitten to him.)

Fighting Tobirama was always a thrill for her. Knowing that someone could actually go toe-to-toe with her and potentially kill her was exhilarating.

(Asa would worry when she knew Izuna was fighting the Senju, but winning against Tobirama would make Izuna horny like nothing else, so she also enjoyed it to an extent.)

Medical ninjutsu was one of Izuna's favorite things to learn. She knew it was woman's work and she should be insulted by it, but something about holding a person's life in her hands (and not because she was capable of killing them herself) was amazing, and she continued her lessons with Yuki despite her father's opposition.

When Izuna was sixteen, Tajima would die until "mysterious" circumstances, and Madara would forever be suspected of the death. The truth of the matter was that Tajima was abusive where Izuna was concerned, her never being able to live up to his expectations or get past the fact that she supposedly killed her mother, and while he was choking her one day, she accidentally cut his throat with a kunai (she was expecting him to dodge). When Madara came upon the scene, he would insist on taking the blame to protect her (this was also how Madara awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan, something Izuna would never understand).

Izuna's own Mangekyo would activate when she was fifteen after someone she called a friend was caught delivering intel to a rival clan. The two would fight, Izuna's true gender being revealed after a lucky shot to her chest, and he would end up dead after attempting to assault her.

She would love Asa like no other. The pair would mutually agree that seeing other people was fine, but Izuna would only use this to have the occasional fling seeing as her heart truly did belong to her wife.

Izuna would end up pregnant at nineteen, giving birth when she was twenty, and give birth to twin daughters, Saya (named after her mother) and Sayuri (named after a friend Izuna had in her youth that was killed far too soon).

She would be a doting mother to her girls and loved them more than she ever imagined possible.

Despite dying when they were only four years old, she would at least get to start training them on the ways of being a shinobi despite hoping Madara wouldn't send them to their deaths at too young an age.

Both would take after their mother in their own ways with Saya leaning more into Izuna's medical abilities while Sayuri inherited her fighting abilities.

Thanks to Tobirama's speed, she would also be a fairly fast person in her attempts to keep up with him. Her genjutsu was her strongest ability, but her ninjutsu and taijustu were both well above average as well.

Her favorite sparring partner was Madara, but she also enjoyed fighting her wife (even though they both knew Izuna had to go easy on her or Asa would never win)

I say neutral because I mean- I am not entirely sure how things would go due to variables of- Tsu-chan is not exactly a canon character in the sense that I cannot use canon to accurately depict events and how scenes unfolded between characters. Some scenes obviously had to change in the event of her being female. I do see the potential though.

That disclaimer out of the way, let's get started on my thoughts!

A few parts may be copy pasted from the last one that I answered for Tsu-chan, because… it would make my life a bit easier lol. These things get long so I’m sure I can be forgiven for that.

Just like when I answered the Xanxus x Tsuna one, I personally do not like Hibari x Tsuna for the same reason as before. The shippers always make him the most uke to have ever uke. The megaladommed of ukes. I hate it. Tsuna is made to be a fearful lil dude and pretty timid but he’s not actually like that. He has some back bone to him. He knows when to take a stand. Moreover, he would at least put up a bit of a fight. He’d be panicking at the very LEAST, but not just crying through everything. Bruh.

So, with that, we have the contrasting Tsu-chan as I like to call her. We’ve established before in a ‘how do I see your muse’ kinda meme that happened a while back. [x] Linked for reference. I enjoy the fact that she has more fight in her in the form of sass/sarcasm. She’s more willing to just take charge initially as opposed to Tsuna who normally takes a more nuanced neutral stance at first before he finally decides ‘okay I need to act’. I am going off on a limb to assume that some of this can come about due to the fact that Tsu-chan is a woman.

She likely had people who doubt her ability to take charge and to lead a massive famiglia like the Vongola. Not to forget that she was quite young when Reborn first came into her life to train her to become the 10th. Women in general are usually told to just be pretty and it is best to be subservient to a degree. Just let the men do all the work, or to simply listen to men as that’s their place. That is a mentality that a lot of places tend to have though things are better in more modern times and in some countries.

I think, Tsu-chan had to take the stand and had to prove herself time and time again to the point where she’s just so used to having to prove herself that it resulted in her faster and stronger response to altercations than Tsuna did. He has a more passive kind of attitude to things but she does not. She’s also seemingly more ambitious than (M)Tsuna likely was. That’s the vibe I get. She may be respectful towards others, but she can easily take it back. She will take shit from NO ONE. It isn’t to say that (M)Tsuna doesn’t have fight in him. It isn’t to say that TYL him didn’t have ambitions either. However, canon him was always shown to be more gentle and passive until you went over a line and then he acts. Then everything he was holding in comes forth and he’s a force.

Tsu-chan, I have the gut feeling, has a much lower threshold, than (M)Tsuna. Also possibly had less insecurity issues than that of (M)Tsuna. I cannot speak to all iterations of how you write her, but at least based off the premise of our interactions, Tsu-chan had a childhood friend and one she got along well with.

Haru is such a positive bean (THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!!) and she’s such a caring and supportive person (THE BEST WAIFU OF MY LAIFU!!!!!!!!) and so I think that as opposed to (M)Tsuna who didn’t have friends, she would certainly have a bit less of the sociability issues that he had. From this, you could say that she has more emotional intelligence than he does. This may turn into her having a stronger sense of self, which then means that she’s more willing to assert herself. So, from a younger age, she was PROBABLY (I’m just guessing) more willing to be honest and speak up than (M)Tsuna was.

From the backstory tinkering that I had to do when I took on Yamamoto as a muse [x] linked for reference, these changes do make an impact on things, even if a bit small in some aspects. Hibari, as we know, is very fond of Namimori. Anyone who breaks the rules or sullies the sanctity of his beloved Namimori is gonna die, plain and simple. Initially, he doesn’t like her that much when he realizes who she hangs out with, the loud one, and the one that needs to get bitten to death on the daily. (How dare he smoke on premises!) Yamamoto is okay in his book. Additionally, Reborn is quite the interesting little baby, so he adjusts his opinion of her slightly. She at least can survive on the day to day basis. He does really detest it any time she does her lil ‘stripping act’ as he probably terms it. Public indecency is no good and it disrupts the order of the school. A repeat offender. It’s Reborn’s fault but--- still a repeat offender.

Due to her presence in school, Namimori has been hassled a lot. Let this guy rest and enjoy his school life in peace!! But nooooo because she’s here, his beloved school gets turned into a fighting ring, students get targeted for their teeth, students go missing for months, etc. He gets SO CROSS with her, I swear to god.

Still, as we know from TYL arc, he does come to respect her and he has acknowledged her fighting abilities. As a person who appreciates strength and finds fun in a challenge, that is something that would catch his attention and amuse him. He just likes capable people, really. If she is capable in fighting, or leading a mafia, or anything else, that can catch his attention. Anything that can cause him to respect someone, even minutely is a good thing. I honestly haven’t really seen Tsu-chan interact with a Hibari much at all, so I can’t really say—but my gut feeling is telling me that even if she’s the boss she still treats him with respect. I feel like she never truly loses the respect for him as a senpai, but will still exercise her right and authority as boss over him if absolutely necessary.

I doubt it happens all that often though. If you know how to talk to Hibari properly, it won’t ever need to come to that, and I’m sure she’s smart enough to figure it out. It’s quite important to him that she wouldn’t treat him like she’s above him and is his boss. He would much prefer it to be like she acknowledges what the ranks may be, but she still sees him as something similar to an equal and treats him as such. A part of it is his pride, and another part of it is his strong sense of independence that would prevent him from truly seeing her as his boss in a true sense. I have always had the feeling that he merely sticks around because it’s sometimes amusing (the engaging fights) and because their ideals align just right. He wants to keep Namimori (his territory) safe, and she also wants to protect everything and everyone near and dear to her. So having similar goals is a way for them to join forces so to speak.

It does parallel the fact that Alaude did create the Cedef which is more or less an independent entity that’s still affiliated with the Vongola. He’s really a cat who is like I’m not one of you, but sometimes I work with you for the sake of what needs to get done.

Given what I think I know about her, I think she would respect his individualism and wouldn’t push him to see her as his boss. I don’t think she really cares for that? Sure, she acknowledges him as her Cloud Guardian and it would be important for her to ensure that he wouldn’t betray anyone in the Vongola and it is important to be able to ask him to go on certain missions—and that’s the extent of it. She doubt you portray her in a way where she feels the need to exercise power over another person to feel superiority. I think she moreso would choose to collaborate with others based off trust and faith.

IF I am right in thinking Tsu-chan is like that, then it’s important to him because his sense of self is very important to him. He cannot be chained and refuses to be chained according to someone else’s ideals. He will choose for himself what he wants in life and he is quite picky about those that he allows to be in his circle. He is a bit prickly //motions to Dino and Kusakabe. Even those pretty close to him aren’t spared from the tyranny that is his blood-thirsty tonfas. Still, he does have some level of care for those that he’s allowed to stay around him.

I’m not entirely sure for what reason she would have to like him… perhaps it’s his stubborn nature that is admirable. Man was poisoned with something that can take down and elephant and Hibari really said FUKKA YOUUUU I BITE THIS TOWER TO DEATH!!!!!!!! Even though he had broken bones, he was still able to move with Gokudera until they got to where Mukuro and Tsuna were and could still try to fight. That is an incredibly stubborn person who is full of a lot of drive and will power. That is really admirable.

I AM A BIASED BITCH- HE IS ALSO JUST REALLY PRETTY AND ATTRACTIVE. MAN WASN’T VOTED #1 ‘I WANT THIS MAN AS MY HUSBAND’ IN JAPAN FOR NO REASON!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH

If you look past his violent tendencies, he actually has shown signs of being considerate towards others and having some level of compassion. He can be gentle, especially to his lil animal friends. It is what I call DANGEROUS GAP MOE and that’s a powerful thing.

As for Hibari, I think he could be drawn to the fact that despite the fact that she never wanted the life of being in the mafia, she eventually had to accept it and she made the best of the situation what she could. She made the most out of her life and she continues to strive to do more and do better. As a stubborn mule, it’s super difficult to force Hibari into doing anything he doesn’t want to do, but for the greater good, she accepted the task of being a Vongola boss and she is taking the initiative to change things to fit what SHE wants. This aspect not only shows a level of drive of making sure that she can forge her own happiness, but it also shows that she’s willing to step down for the greater good and that’s a really big sacrifice that many aren’t willing to take.

It takes a lot of courage and heart to do such a thing, and I think that though he can’t understand it, he finds it respectable of her. She strives to do her best and even though she faces adversity due to being a woman, she doesn’t let that hinder her. She fights for what she believes in, she fights for others, and she’ll defy anything that goes against her morality. He’s seen for himself how powerful her will is, and how her stubbornness can rival his own- so he respects her for that in the TYL.

I don’t know if you’ll have it where she sometimes shows a bit of the canon fear that Tsuna does towards Hibari, or if she’ll rather take on a more teasing nature with him or what. I sadly do not have any material to go off to really speak more concretely about how a ship between them would go. How she interacts with Hibari is quite important to how he would view her.

Teasing him can be okay, but to a point. It depends on how and how often. Depending on the type of teasing, it’ll just piss him off or turn him away. Only some types of teasing (ie ones that would spark fighting spirit) is something that catches his interest. It amuses him. Fighting back against him also has good sides and bad sides. If she fights against him in a way to appeal to her own standards and morality, that’s something he can respect. IF she tries to fight against him as a way to exert control or power over him that would royally PISS HIM OFF and he won’t stand for it. He hates to feel confined and controlled. Like a cloud, he is a free spirit. If she teases him in a way that it feels like she’s looking down on him or doing so in a way that’s like ‘you can’t even fight back because I’m your boss’ that would also piss him off.

These are just examples, I don’t actually think Tsu-chan would do that. This is mostly to explain how he’s quite the fickle guy, and if you don’t go about it the right way, he can instantly be turned off from a person, and when that happens he’ll never go back. Once you’ve been put in the ‘this person is a monkey’ list, you aren’t ever getting out of it- so give up on romancing him.

I feel like maybe it could work, a ship between them. It honestly truly would depend on interactions. If they were to be a couple, I think it would be interesting. He quite frankly doesn’t give a shit about politics or rules. If he decided to love someone, that’s that. Literally anyone can try and tell him ‘but she’s your boss, you ca-’ clean up on aisle fuk u. As a lover, I do think Hibari is the type to be quietly supportive. He would support her in whatever she wanted to do, and have faith in her abilities to see things through. If she had decided on something, he won’t argue against her and instead just support her. He values his independence and self-governance, so he would give her the same right.

He wouldn’t try to force anything upon her. HOWEVER, he does seem to have some traditional values/interests from what I’ve seen, so he would be pretty strict on some matters. He’d be strict about not showing too much PDA out in public or instance. He would be very clear about the level of intimacy that either party can show to others. He wouldn’t stand for anyone getting too close to her or vice versa, he wouldn’t allow anyone to get too close to himself. He’d get extremely irate if she were to get too close to someone. Euro-style greetings like kisses on cheeks and stuff is fine, by the way. It’s anything that feels like she’s getting too close to another person that may vaguely feel like cheating territory, he’d never stand for it. Unforgivable to him.

Will state that I don’t say this as a means to suggest I think she’d cheat or allow someone to touch her without her permission. I mostly explain this to focus on the fact he’s VERY TERRITORIAL. He does have a bit of a jealous streak, as well as a tendency to enjoy marking his territory. He just enjoys the act of marking what’s his because it’s his. It doesn’t mean he is insecure about a relationship or thinks she’d cheat. HE simply just enjoys the feeling and knowledge of: this is mine. Consider him like a greedy dragon, honestly.

If she can’t handle that, Hibari is not for her lol.

Though, I will state that people sometimes forget that he too has a silly side to him. He’s quite sarcastic and such, and he’s a bit rude. He does have some traditional mindsets, but the biggest aspect about him is: HE DOES WHAT HE WANTS AND HE FOLLOWS HIS OWN RULES.

If he personally thinks some rules are stupid, they don’t exist. So some traditional values may get thrown out the door, but some other values he will keep iron clad.

My fingers are starting to hurt so I’ll stop there. There’s not much I can really say because I honestly don’t know how the two would interact.

This is to preface me saying because I have no actual interactions to base off of, I have no way of being able to come up with cute ideas between them. Sorry again, gonna have to make due without that section again.

-now there's another point there's a couple battles in New Jersey.
