"Lucien Greaves" on the Oklahoma City Bombing and bad PR
Via The.Satanic.Wiki
On Sept. 11, 2003, future co-owner of The Satanic Temple Doug “Lucien Greaves” Misicko, his friend and collaborator Shane Bugbee, and Shane Bugbee’s wife Amy Stocky hosted a 24-hour Internet radio stream with guests and callers to mark the release of their new edition of the proto-fascist manifesto Might Is Right. This is an excerpt from that recording.
CW: terrorism, praise of white nationalist violence, misogyny
Full transcript:
Shane Bugbee: Yeah, no, but that Waco- that Waco chunk was given to us by a guy in Waco. One of the survivors had half his body burned off, that we just played. And that's something that a doc, a gentleman doing a documentary had done. And he couldn't get it released, couldn't get it played anywhere. Nothing. And he basically just gave it to those- the fine folks at the Branch Davidian. And, um... that was it. They distributed to who they thought was trustworthy and such, and I wanted to disseminate that information for you. I'd like to hear if anyone is listening. Get on the chat boards at RadioFreeSatan.com. Leave a voicemail message at RadioFreeSatan.com. I think the number is... I'll get you the number in a second.
Amy Bugbee: A major person who did help pass around Day 51 was Tim McVeigh.
Shane Bugbee: Yeah, exactly. That was one of the people that gave it to and we're trying to live to- some people call McVeigh a terrorist and American terrorist. I call him an American hero. Okay?
Amy Bugbee: That's right. And I just finished reading American Terrorist, Timothy McVeigh story, and it's... fascinating. It's really a shame and the major- the thing that he was most upset about what the Oklahoma City bombing was the fact that the children dying outshined what the message was he was trying to convey by blowing up the building. And it's a real shame. He said, if he would have known that there were- there was a daycare center in there, he would have picked a different target because of that.
Doug Misicko: All right, that was the biggest mistake. And of course, it was easy for the media to take that away.
Shane Bugbee: What was the biggest mistake?
Doug Misicko: The fact that there was kids in there.
Shane Bugbee: That was your... you consider that a mistake?
Doug Misicko: Well, it's a PR mistake.
Shane Bugbee: Who gives a fuck? They're cops' kids. The only thing that would be better is if the cops were inside that building as the kids in the fucking wives got to watch their fucking husbands burn like pigs.
Doug Misicko: True, but he didn't generate any support.
Shane Bugbee: He wouldn't have no matter what he does he could fire a gun up in the air, he's gonna get arrested and treated like an asshole.
Doug Misicko: Nonetheless, anytime a cunt like Janet Reno runs amok and pulls a Waco, you're gonna produce hundreds of more McVeigh's or people that McVeigh mindset it's like they say about Iraq now. Or Afghanistan. You know, whereas you might have had one Osama bin Laden, now you have legions.
Shane Bugbee: Now when you talk about "bad PR", the real powerful folk don't give a fuck about bad PR. You think the- the Bush folks or people that go into Ruby Ridge and slaughter a pregnant woman, slaughter 14-year-old kid, shooting them two times in the back, all that bullshit? They didn't give a fuck about mowing down those kids at Waco. They did that shit so incredibly intense. Man, we saw this video where they've got- they've got infrared cameras above Waco and they're showing guys with M-16s sharpshooting in where the kids and women are running out. The fucking cop- and the army guys are shooting at these kids and- they don't give a fuck. They don't give a fuck about bad PR, do they?
Doug Misicko: Yeah, they figured they can cover the PR. You look at...
Shane Bugbee: Nah, it's about fear. They fucking scared everyone in the fucking listening again.
Doug Misicko: People don't believe it'll happen. Why do you think Junior's crew now is trying to buy out radio?

You may have missed this in my previous substack but I want to share again for those that do not understand the roots of Harris’s JOY and UNBURDENED camapaign slogans. The roots go along the same path as traitor Joe Biden’s Build Back Better.
STRENGTH THROUGH JOY
UNBURDENED
AND let us not forget that she is NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN and you need to write or call your US Rep and Senators and DEMAND they expose this usurper. Do not let them tell you because she was born here she is a NBC. That would mean that every anchor baby (which Kamala is) would be eligible to be VP or President and that is NOT true. I don’t believe she is even a citizen because her parents (both foreigners) were in America on TEMPORARY student Visas and not “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” Neither of her parents ever became US citizens. Her mother is dead but her father is alive and is still a citizen of Jamaica. And a self avowed Marxist.

Infrarealism Manifesto
Manifesto of Infrarealism
——-
GIVE IT ALL UP AGAIN
first infrarealist manifesto
“It’s four light hours to the confines of the solar system; to the closest star, four light years. A disproportionate ocean of emptiness. But are we really sure there is only a void? We only know that there are no stars shining in that space. If they existed, would they be visible? And if there existed bodies that are neither luminous nor dark? Could it not be that on the celestial maps, the same as on those of Earth, the star-cities are indicated and the star-villages are omitted?”
— Soviet science fiction writers scratching their faces at midnight.
— The infrasuns (Drummond would say the happy proletarian fellows).
— Peguero and Boris alone in a lumpen room having premonitions of the wonder behind the door.
— Free money.
*
Who has crossed the city and had, as the only music, the whistles of his fellow man, his own words of wonder and rage?
The handsome guy who didn’t know
that chicks’ orgasms are clitoral
(Look around, shit isn’t just in museums.) (A process of individual museumification.) (Certainty that everything is named, revealed.) (Fear of discovering.) (Fear of unforeseen imbalances.)
*
Our closest relatives:
snipers, country boys who smash up cheap cafés in Latin America, people who fall apart in supermarkets in their tremendous individuo-collective dilemmas; the impotence of action and the search (on individual levels or good and muddy with aesthetic contradictions) for poetic action.
*
Little bright stars eternally winking an eye at us from a place in the universe called Labyrinths.
— Nightclub of misery.
— Pepito Tequila sobbing his love for Lisa Underground.
— I suck it, you suck it, we suck it.
— And the Horror.
*
Curtains of water, cement or tin separate a cultural machinery that serves as the conscience or the ass of the dominant class from a living, annoying cultural happening, in constant death and birth, ignorant of the greater part of history and the fine arts (everyday creator of its insane history and its hallucinatory fine artz), body that suddenly feels new sensations in itself, product of an epoch in which we approach the shithouse or the revolution at 200 kph.
“New forms, strange forms,” as old Bertolt said, half curious, half cheerful.
*
Sensations don’t arise from nothingness (the obvious of obviousnesses) but from conditioned reality, in a thousand ways, as a constant flow.
— Multiple reality, you make us sick!
So it is possible that on the one hand one is born and on the other hand we’re in the front row for the death throes. Forms of life and forms of death pass daily through the retina. The constant crash gives life to infrarealist forms: THE EYE OF TRANSITION
*
They put the whole city in the nuthouse. Sweet sister, tank howls, hermaphrodite songs, diamond deserts, we’ll live only once and the visions, more complicated and slippery every day. Sweet sister, hitchhiking to Monte Albán[i]. Unbuckling their belts to water the corpses. It’s something at least.
*
And the good bourgeois culture? And academia and the arsonists? And the vanguard and its rearguard? And certain conceptions of love, nice scenery, the precise multinational Colt sidearm?
Like Saint-Just[ii] said to me in a dream I had a while ago: Even the heads of aristocrats can be our weapons.
*
— A good part of the world is being born and the other part is dying and we all know that we all have to live and we all die: in this there is no middle road.
Chirico[iii] says: thought needs to move away from everything called logic and common sense, to move away from all human obstacles in such a way that things take on a new look, as though illuminated by a constellation appearing for the first time. The infrarealists say: We’re going to stick our noses into all human obstacles, in such a way that things begin to move inside of us, a hallucinatory vision of mankind.
— The Constellation of the Beautiful Bird.
— The infrarealists propose Indianism to the world: a crazy, timid Indian.
— A new lyricism that’s beginning to grow in Latin America sustains itself in ways that never cease to amaze us. The entrance to the work is the entrance to adventure: the poem as a journey and the poet as a hero who reveals heroes. Tenderness as an exercise in speed. Respiration and heat. Experience shot, structures that devour themselves, insane contradictions.
The poet is interfering, the reader will have to interfere for himself.
“erotic books full of misspellings”
*
The THOUSAND DRAWN-AND-QUARTERED VANGUARDS OF THE SEVENTIES are our ancestors
99 flowers open like an open head
Slaughters, new concentration camps
White subterranean rivers, violet winds
These are hard times for poetry, some say, sipping tea, listening to music in their apartments, talking (listening) to the old masters. These are hard times for mankind, we say, coming back to the barricades after a workday full of shit and tear gas, discovering/creating music even in apartments, spending all day watching the cemeteries-that-expand, where they hopelessly drink a cup of tea or get drunk on pure rage or the inertia of the old masters.
HORA ZERO[iv] are our ancestors
((Raise arsonist kids, get burned))
We’re still in the Quaternary Period. We’re still in the Quaternary Period?
Pepito Tequila kisses the phosphorescent nipples of Lisa Underground and heads off for a beach where black pyramids sprout up.
*
I repeat:
The poet as a hero who reveals heroes, like the fallen red tree that announces the start of a forest.
— Attempts at an ethic-aesthetic are paved with betrayals or pathetic survivals.
— And it is the individual who could walk a thousand kilometers but inevitably the road will eat him.
— Our ethic is the Revolution, our aesthetic is Life: one-and-the-same.
*
For the bourgeoisie and the petite-bourgeoisie, life is a party. They have one every weekend. The proletariat doesn’t have parties. Just funerals with rhythm. That’s going to change. The exploited are going to throw a big party. Memory and guillotines. Sensing it, acting it out on certain nights, inventing edges and humid corners for it, like caressing the acid eyes of the new spirit.
*
Movement of the poem through the seasons of rebellion: poetry producing poets producing poems producing poetry. No electric alley/the poet with his arms separated from his body/the poem moving slowly from his Vision to his Revolution. The alley is a complex point. “We’re going to invent it so as to discover its contradiction, its invisible forms of negation, even to clarify it.” A journey of the act of writing through zones not at all favorable to the act of writing.
Rimbaud, come home!
Subvert the everyday reality of modern poetry. The chains that lead to the poem’s circular reality. A good reference: Kurt Schwitters. Lanke trr gll, or, upa kupa arggg, happens in the official line, phonetic investigators encoding the howl. The bridges of Nova Express are anti-codifying: let him scream, let him scream (please don’t go pulling out pencils or little notebooks, don’t record it, if you want to participate scream along), so let him scream, to see the look on his face when it’s over, what incredible thing happen to us.
Our bridges to unknown seasons. The poem interrelating reality and unreality.
*
Convulsively.
*
What can I ask of present-day Latin American painting? What can I ask of the theater?
It is more revealing and more evocative to stand in a park devastated by smog and watch people cross the avenues in groups (that contract and expand), the avenues, where drivers as much as pedestrians feel the urge to return to their hovels, when the murderers come out and the victims stalk them.
What stories are painters really telling me?
The interesting void, fixed form and color, at best a parody of movement. Canvases that will serve only as bright advertisements in the rooms of engineers and doctors who collect them.
The painter adapts to a society that is every day more of a “painter” than he is, and there he finds himself disarmed and registers as clown.
If painting X is found in some street by Mara, that painting acquires the status of an amusing, communicative thing; in a salon it’s as decorative as bourgeois wrought iron garden chairs/a question of the retina?/yes and no/but it’d be better to find (and systematize according to chance for awhile) the unleashing factor, class-conscious, a one hundred percent deliberate deed, in juxtaposition to the values of “work” which both precede and condition it.
The painter gives up his studio and ANY status quo and fills his head with wonder/or takes up chess like Duchamp/a self-taught painting/And a painting of poverty, free or rather cheap, unfinished, collaborative, of questioning participation, physically extended and spiritually unlimited.
The best Latin American painting is that which is still being made at unconscious levels, the game, the party, the experiment that gives us a real vision of what we are and opens us to what we can be; the best Latin American painting is what we paint in the greens, reds, and blues on our faces, to recognize ourselves in the incessant creation of the group.
*
Try daily to leave everything behind.
May architects give up the building of inward-looking scenes and open their hands (or make fists, depending on the place) toward that outer space. A wall and a roof acquire utility not when they’re used just for sleeping or avoiding rain, but rather when they establish, for example, from the everyday act of dreaming, conscious bridges between man and his creations or the momentary impossibility of these.
In architecture and sculpture the infrarealists start from two points: the barricade and the bed.
*
The true imagination is that which destroys, elucidates, injects emerald microbes into other imaginations. In poetry and in whatever else, the entrance into the work has to already be the way into adventure. Create the tools for everyday subversion. The human being’s subjective seasons, with their gigantic, beautiful, obscene trees like experimental laboratories. Watch, glimpse parallel and heart-rending situations as a giant scratch on your chest, on your face. Endless analogy of gestures. There are so many that when new ones appear we don’t even notice, even though we’re making/watching them in front of a mirror. Stormy nights. Perception opens by means of an ethic-aesthetic carried to the limit.
*
— Galaxies of love are appearing in the palms of our hands.
— Poets, let down your hair (if you have any)
— Burn your nonsense and start loving until you come up with priceless poems
— We don’t want kinetic paintings but enormous kinetic sunsets
— Horses running 500 kilometers an hour
— Squirrels of fire hopping through trees of fire
— A bet to see who blinks first, between the nerve and the sleeping pill.
*
Risk is always somewhere else. The true poet is the one who’s always letting go of himself. Never too much time in the same place, like guerrillas, like UFOs, like the white eyes of prisoners serving life sentences.
*
Fusion and explosion from two shores: creation like a decisive and open graffiti by a crazy kid.
Not at all mechanical. Scales of amazement. Somebody, maybe Bosch, smashes the aquarium of love. Free money. Sweet sister. Visions frivolous like corpses. Little boys jerking off from kisses until December.
*
At two in the morning, after having been at Mara’s house, we (Mario Santiago and some of us) heard laughter coming from the penthouse of a 9 story building. They didn’t stop, they kept laughing and laughing while below we slept propped up in various phone booths. There came a moment when only Mario was still paying attention to the laughter (the penthouse is a gay bar or something and Darío Galicia had told us that it’s always watched by the cops). We made phone calls but our coins turned into water. The laughter continued. After we left that neighborhood Mario told me that actually no one had been laughing, that it was recorded laughter, and up there in that penthouse, some stragglers or maybe a single homosexual had silently listened to that record and made us listen to it.
— The death of the swan, the swan song, the last song of the black swan, IS NOT in the Bolshoi but in the intolerable pain and beauty of the streets.
— A rainbow that starts in a grindhouse theater and ends in a factory on strike.
— May amnesia never kiss us on the mouth. May it never kiss us.
— We dreamed of utopia and woke up screaming.
— A poor lonely cowboy that comes back home, what a wonder.
*
Make new sensations appear—Subvert daily life.
O.K.

FLOEMA>Sonia Dias GEOGRAFIA DOS SONHOS >Beth Barone
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Infrared (IR) 4.0 and 5.0 are on the horizon today. These technologies work on the same medium, wired, or wireless, which has taken both China and India forward, like in IR 3.0. India had the additional advantage of having IT and mobile technologies in their genes. Perhaps such genes ensure most of the world chiefs of such companies being Indians, and also most writing software or algorithms in the world being Indians.
China has also invested huge monies on these technologies, but only Indian-advanced digital country collaboration can change the world like it was changed during 1980-2017 by US-China collaboration. With its newfound power, the Chinese are also loudly stating that they are very powerful and will shortly take over the world. Acquiring more power and the land area has also been in the Chinese genes for thousands of years, with dynasties like Great Qing and Mao being revered today.
Technologies being on the horizon, the developed world, which includes China now, will try its best to stop the natural advantage of China, which has invested heavily in new generation technologies and India, which has new digital technologies in its genes to take these extremely disruptive technologies further.
We have to recognize that the first American action in 2019 was to negotiate a settlement after the 2015 Manifesto. But these failed due to the public reaction against China and its involvement in the Corona crisis being very strong, almost reaching limits that will lead to a similar position, whoever in the US wins the election.
There is also a very strong reaction against BRI, first opposed by India, and then Japan.
Mao is still celebrated in all Chinese minds for all his expansionist and aggressive approach and is also a cult figure for Xi Jinping, who said in his speech to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, that when the CPC Central Committee set off from Xibaipo to Beijing on the morning of March 23, 1949, Mao Zedong said: “Today is the day to go to Beijing to take the exam. The practice has proved that our party has achieved excellent results in this historic examination. At the same time, the exam is not over yet and continues. Today, all the work our party unites and leads the people to do is the continuation of this examination.”
According to Xi, a series of achievements have taken place, but some officials have developed a sense of pride and complacency and believe that the party’s ruling position is now stable and we can sit back and relax and enjoy the blessings on our merits. As a result, some people could not control their own hands and became corrupted and stood against the people; some people did not want to be enterprising, were greedy for enjoyment, and lost their fine traditions. Xi is, therefore, far more aggressive domestically and internationally.
In the future, China will employ millions of American workers and dominate thousands of small communities all over the US. Chinese acquisition of US businesses set a new all-time record last year, and it is on pace to shatter that record this year. Smithfield Foods acquisition is an example. Smithfield Foods is the largest pork producer and processor in the world. It has facilities in 26 US states and it employs tens of thousands of Americans. It directly owns 460 farms and has contracts with approximately 2,100 others. But, now, a Chinese company has bought it for $4.7 billion, and that means that the Chinese will now be the most important employer in dozens of rural communities all over America.
Due in part to many countries’ massively bloated trade deficit with China, the Chinese have trillions of dollars to spend. They are only just starting to exercise their economic muscle. It is important to keep in mind that there is often not much of a difference between “the Chinese government” and “Chinese corporations”. In 2011, 43 per cent of all profits in China were produced by companies where the Chinese government had a controlling interest.
Chinese involvement is massive, and no analyst is precisely able to assess China’s part in US manufacturing and business chains — e.g. last year, a Chinese company spent $2.6 billion to purchase AMC entertainment, one of the largest movie theater chains in the US.
But China is not just relying on acquisitions to expand its economic power. “Economic beachheads” are being established all over America. For example, Golden Dragon Precise Copper Tube Group, Inc. recently broke ground on a $100 million plant in Thomasville, Alabama. Many of the residents of Thomasville, Alabama will be glad to have jobs, but it will also become yet another community that will now be heavily dependent on communist China.
And guess where else Chinese companies are putting down roots? In Detroit, where the local American industry is facing existential threats. Chinese-owned companies are investing in American businesses and new vehicle technology, selling everything from seat belts to shock absorbers in retail stores, and hiring experienced engineers and designers in an effort to soak up the talent and expertise of domestic automakers and their suppliers. After being bailed out by US taxpayers, GM is involved in 11 joint ventures with Chinese companies.
China seems particularly interested in acquiring energy resources in the US. For example, China is actually mining for coal in the mountains of Tennessee. Guizhou Gouchuang Energy Holding Group spent $616 million to acquire Triple H Coal Co. in Jacksboro, Tennessee. At the time, that acquisition really didn’t make much news, but now a group of conservatives in Tennessee is trying to stop the Chinese from blowing up their mountains and taking their coal.
China is also planning to build entire cities in the US just like they have been doing in other countries. Right now, China is actually building a city larger than Manhattan just outside Minsk, the capital of Belarus. There are many such projects in many countries with Chinese precision implementation abilities.
As an overall economy, China is now in aggregate the leading manufacturer of goods in the entire world, it uses more cement than the rest of the world combined, is now the number one producer of wind and solar power on the entire globe, it produces three times as much coal and 11 times as much steel as the US does. To keep a futuristic hold on the NextGen economy, China produces more than 90 per cent of the global supply of rare earth elements, and has acquired enormous reserves, is now the number one supplier of components that are critical to the operation of any national defense system, it publishes substantial scientific research articles and is expected to become number one in the world very shortly.
Again, to control and monopolize on infrastructure in the world, it now has its own ports and industries all over the world and has launched its own BELT and ROAD scheme.
China understands that US and EU can’t decouple easily and they can’t do much harm militarily in the Asian region, so why not create a win-win situation economically as well as militarily because they understand that rivalry with the western world is going to increase — so, first, establish supremacy in the Asian region.
On the issue of American or Chinese supremacy, the jury is still out, but no one can forget the way the Americans destroyed Japan after the Pearl Harbour bombings and the entire Soviet power without firing a bullet, nor can they forget the destruction of Germany and its reconstruction after the Second World War.

fruit leftovers to leather, plastic to gravel, these brands giving the earth a second chance
we might be fascinated with development and growing tech. yet these all about new features coming from the future might blind you from the idea of keeping the earth sustainable enough to conceive it all.
Tumblr media
some people believe that designing today is more than just ideas and innovation because the natural element we have today is apparently no longer as prosperous as it was long ago.
can we give the earth a second chance? to breathe in a greener breeze, and to heal from overly dense cities?
from turning a discarded fruit into the leather fabric, zero cotton denim jeans, and from plastic to gravel, some manufacturing company has inspired us by giving a second chance for waste materials to be useful again through a circular economy approach.
fruitleather rotterdam
a rotterdam-based biotech company has revealed a new form of sustainable innovation by converting leftover fruits and vegetables into a durable leather-like material.
Tumblr media
the overall process is eco-friendly and is inspired by discovering more than 3500kg waste food when the founders pay a visit to the biggest outdoor market in the netherlands. led them to the idea of converting these unfortunate waste food to functionally appealing home appliances such as furniture, car seats, handbags, and clothing.
zero cotton isko division
meanwhile, the leading ingredient brand and the first denim producer in the world to be recognized with the nordic swan and eu ecolabel certifications, isko™, has conveyed a sustainable denim fabric that uses 100% renewable fibers.
Tumblr media
the jeans will look, feel, and fit like a high-quality denim you purchase on the branded store! but of course with less environmental impacts of cotton.
also read:
news: towards zero design waste, the introduction
towards zero design waste, sustainable manifesto from the global brands
the strategies you need to know when pursuing zero design waste
the fabric is composed of bio-based viscose (vi), lyocell (cly) and modal (md) which sourced from trees and mixed with post-consumer recycled (pcr), (pcr) polyester (pet) and lycra.
rec-nir black by ampacet corp.
ampacet corp introduced an innovative solution to black plastic pigment issues.
Tumblr media
the black masterbatch solutions are near-infrared (nir) which will make them transparent when entering sorting scanners, enabling them to be reused, repaired, and recycled to prevent them from going straight to the landfill from recycling facility.
recycrom by officina +39
creating a long-lasting color on your textile fibers can also be sourced from sustainable method!
officina+39, introduces a full range of sustainable dyestuffs collected from waste-clothes and manufacturing waste.
Tumblr media
through a sophisticated production process that only uses natural chemicals, fabric fibers are crystallized into a very fine powder that can be used as a pigment dye. brands can collaborate with the company to make custom dyes from their textile waste.
arqlite plastic gravel by arqlite
a buenos aires-based recycling technology company had discovered an innovative solution to recycle food packaging and film plastic into gravel to support environmental local construction and landscaping markets.
Tumblr media
what differentiates their work than the other is that the technology is far from the concept of the traditional recycling system. require only a little of cost, the system is told to be capable of recycling any kinds of plastic - even for the ones that are considered non-recyclable.
primaloft® bio™ by primaloft
primaloft introduces a sustainable sleep through its high-performance synthetic fiber solution, which can be used for insulation for wearable outerwear, bedrooms' sleeping bags, and mid-layers.
Tumblr media
the material is sourced by 100% post-consumer recycled and biodegradable materials and is designed to endure multi-year usage.
instead of being discarded, the material can also be chemically recycled, giving it a continuous life.
so the concern as to how to make the "uncured" planet slowly revitalized can actually be manifested in many small ways. because a pearl of wisdom ever said that it takes a small step to make big impacts, so does how we try to correlate this to the highest level of self-awareness.
Tumblr media
the duty is all ours, as an individual, and as living beings who still need to be genuinely-sheltered on the green and watery planet.

Health safeguards in place as NegOcc bus trips resume May 18
#PHnews: Health safeguards in place as NegOcc bus trips resume May 18
BACOLOD CITY – The Vallacar Transit, Inc. (VTI), operator of Ceres Liner and Tours buses, is implementing health safeguards to protect passengers and bus personnel once it resumes trips in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, on May 18.
Jesideth Marquez-Seballos, legal and media relations officer of VTI, said on Thursday that all bus units have been checked for road-worthiness and are ready to travel on Monday.
“Our president and chief executive officer, Leo Rey Yanson, wants to ensure the safety of all passengers. Necessary measures and strict policies will be implemented to help combat the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19),” she added.
The VTI halted the operations of Ceres buses here on March 30 after all forms of public transport were suspended in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City as part of the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine.
As community quarantine measures will be eased after May 15, bus trips can already resume trips from Bacolod to other parts of the province.
As part of the safety measures, Ceres buses will only pick up passengers at the terminals, where infrared body temperature scanning will be implemented.
Pick-up points will be set up for passengers who are far from the terminals.
“A passenger found to have a fever, or who has high temperature will not be allowed to board the bus,” Marquez-Seballos said.
The bus firm will also impose the “no face mask, no ride” and “no standing” policies, and will place a footbath on the stairs of every bus unit.
Hand washing areas will be established at the terminals and pick-up points.
“We will require the riding public to wash their hands and wear a mask before boarding the bus,” she added.
Marquez-Seballos said they would also require passengers to write their names, address, and contact numbers in the manifesto in case of need for contact tracing.
At the terminals, passengers will be asked to sit on the bench one seat apart from one another.
Meanwhile, for the safety of drivers, the driver’s side or the front area of the bus will be closed to passengers.
Drivers and conductors will be given personal essentials to protect themselves.
The number of passengers on each bus will be limited to ensure observance of social distancing and bus seats that should not be occupied will be marked with a red “X”.
Marquez-Seballos said passengers could expect a slight increase in fare rate due to social distancing, adding that the new fare matrix would be posted inside the buses.
The new fare rate provided by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in its Memorandum Circular 2020-017 took effect last May 1.
“We hope for cooperation from the riding public. While we respond to the transport need of Negrenses, their safety is also the company’s top priority,” she added. (PNA)

Subsumption Architecture: How iRobot Enabled Scrum
A simple definition of Subsumption Architecture can be found at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subsumption_architecture. However, as usual, Wikipedia has a very watered down version of reality. It is like hearing the story fourth hand where the understanding gets weaker and weaker as is goes from person to person. You will get a much clearer picture by reading from someone working in the area - see Mobile Robot Control.
In the early 1990's, I leased space for a couple of years to the inventor of the Subsumption Architecture. Rodney Brooks and his graduate students rented space in my office to start up iRobot. So I was taught directly by Brooks and his team using the real robots as demos of what he was saying. They robots often escaped from their lab and ran in and out of my office on a regular basis. Getting it directly from the source is always a more vivid and accurate experience. Take a look at Brooks' papers on scholar.google.com, for example, http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/1087032/
On Friday afternoon, Brooks would come by to check on his team. My developers would be having our traditional wine and cheese tasting so we could talk over a glass of wine. One Friday I said to Prof. Brooks, "Explain to me how the robot (Ghengis Khan at the time) works. It's very interesting when it runs into my office trying to hunt me down with its infrared sensors."
Brooks said, "First you need to understand that for 30 years we have been trying to build an intelligent system at MIT AI Lab and it has been a total failure. The best we have been able to do is a smart chess program. So I am taking a radically different approach with the subsumption architecture. This robot has no central processor. Each leg has a chip that can move a leg. There is a chip in the spine that coordinates the legs. A neural network chip in the head figures out what to do. Before you turn the robot on the chip is blank. There is no database. The world is the data and all data is created by sensors." They would show me the blank chip, plug it into the head, turn the robot on. It's legs would start flailing like an octopus and it would roll upright, then stagger around like a baby learning to walk until a few minutes later it was scurrying around the room.
I said to Brooks that this reminded me of the really slow programmers I had back at the banking company on 101 Main Street in Cambridge across from the MIT Sloan Business School. We were located at 238 Broadway in a legendary building (which no longer exists) where Symbolics and many of the early AI companies started up. I said to Brooks, "I bet if we gave the slow programmers some simple rules like the robot and every day they got together and synchronized their neural networks they could boot up into a supersmart, very fast team. Do you think that would work?" Brooks said, "I don't know, why don't you try it?"
The next year I joined Easel Corporation and I got my chance. Scrum booted up just like the robot.
So Scrum arose from deep immersion in the work of primary researchers in robotics and computer science theory, primarily at MIT and Bell Labs, but also from complex adaptive systems theory based on supercomputer simulation of evolving cells during my 11 years of research at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
It has always interested me to see people trying to tweak Scrum without understanding the subsumption architecture. It is like a cave man coming upon a smartphone and trying to fix it.
I remember a VP of Engineering in Silicon Valley who told me around the time of the Agile Manifesto meeting, maybe before. "Scrum is the biggest thing that has hit the valley since the invention of the computer chip!" It was designed to solve the problem of Moore's law which was causing exponential increases in computing power, while software development productivity was growing linearly. Today with continuous deployment multiple times a day off a single code branch like they do at Google and elsewhere we are seeing orders of magnitude improvement in productivity, something I tried to explain in my Agile 2005 research paper on "The Future of Scrum."
The latest iteration of this kind of thinking is in self-driving cars. In 2016 I upgraded my Tesla to the latest version with the new NVidia smart board and expanded sensors. This is a $500 box that is a compressed version of a $50M supercomputer from the year 2000. And Elon Musk says programming it requires thousands of developers but only a few years of iterations. It would not be possible to build this without the combination of the hardware chips and agile methods. Meanwhile Google is still stuck with smart cars in a laboratory environment. They are not agile enough.

The 10 Best & Worst of Automotive Tech in 2018
Because there's too much going on to wait for December.
Tumblr media
We love Top 10 lists, but it's the 10 Worst lists that really get our hearts pumping. A lot of automotive "journalists" pull their punches so as not to endanger those sweet, sweet junkets. I don't have that problem. I was blacklisted years ago by just about everyone. Am I too honest? Maybe. Too unpredictable? Probably. But I say you can't trust someone who hasn't said something negative about someone. If everything was great, cars wouldn't need warranties. If software-based tech functioned as promised, I wouldn't have a column.
Here's my list of the 10 Best & Worst in Automotive Technology in 2018. Feel free to disagree.
10. Most Embarrassing New Mobility Strategy Implosion
Cadillac Book. WTF is going on at GM? With $1B invested in Cruise Automation to develop self-driving Chevy Bolts, you'd think CEO Mary Barra would have the nerve to support Cadillac's Book subscription service until it found its feet. But no, they pulled the plug just under two years since launch. What went wrong? Was it the pricing, which started at $1500, then rose to $1800? The marketing? NYC as the first market? The wonky Book app? The departure of Melody Lee, who really seemed to get it? The concept itself? Rivals like Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche who have recently launched competing services should take notice. An unlimited PR budget ≠ profits, let alone cash flow.
9. Most Disappointing Technology from a Car Company We Love
Volvo Pilot Assist. I love Volvo, and so should you. Every new Volvo is so cool, they make their malaise era cars cool too. I would drive one in a heartbeat. The look. The feel. Who doesn't love clean design? The Nordic school really gets it. Polestar? Awesome. But there's a problem. Volvo — the original car brand built on safety — isn't leading on driver assistance systems, otherwise known as ADAS. Volvo's ADAS suite is called Pilot Assist. The Automatic Emergency Braking is good. The lane keeping, display, and transition warnings? Not so much. What's going on? Volvo should own this. Instead, Tesla leads on lane keeping and Cadillac on safety and driver monitoring. Come on Volvo, you can do better.
8. Best Tech From a Company that Needs Better Management
Cadillac SuperCruise. Where Volvo is falling short, Cadillac is killing it on driver assistance. I remember when people made fun of GM for failing to deploy SuperCruise, which marinated in R&D for years before Tesla released Autopilot in late 2015. But one drive in a SuperCruise-equipped CT6 made it clear: GM's R&D had done its job not only correctly, but brilliantly. SuperCruise includes Seeing Machines' driver monitoring system (DMS) — an infrared camera pointed at the driver — solving Tesla's biggest omission, and adds a class-leading, steering wheel mounted mode indicator. So what's Cadillac's problem? GM management. SuperCruise should have been an option on everyCadillac two years ago, if not every GM vehicle. Why isn't it? Because GM's attention and money is being showered on their self-driving division Cruise Automation, whose cars will only see limited deployment next year, maybe. SuperCruise is GM's killer tech, and every day they don't deploy it they're squandering their lead. Come on, GM.
7. The How-Not-To-Market-Your-Cars Trophy
BMW. I'm a BMW guy. Always have been. But Klaus Fröhlich, BMW development chief and board member, sure does make it hard. When asked about the E46 CSL being "the last real 3 series," he replied "I do no want to hear that shit any more." But it gets worse. Fröhlich's words are a noose: "First thing and this is for me the most important thing; you can drive fast and completely relaxed. You don't feel how fast you are." When it comes to driving, feedback is everything. That means feeling. Who doesn't want to know how fast they're going? Passengers. Who wants to feel how fast they're going? People buying The Ultimate Driving Machine. Fröhlich is the wrong man, in the wrong job, saying the wrong things. Let him retire.
6. Best Electric Vehicle On The Market Today
Tesla Model S. Yeah, yeah. Everyone wants to talk about the Model 3. Do I love it? Sure. But the Model S—the original premium EV that invented the segment and woke up an industry—is better than ever. Six years and countless invisible hardware and software updates later, it's still light years ahead of everyone else for EV and driver assistance tech. Cadillac's SuperCruise equipped CT6 still runs on gas, and the upcoming Porsche Taycan's ADAS suite is unlikely to touch Tesla Autopilot. By why the S over the Model 3? You can get a great used S for the price of a loaded Model 3 Performance, and the S is quieter, more comfortable, has more storage, rides better, has a better sounding stereo, has a traditional dashboard, a bigger/better GPS display, and Tesla's killer situational awareness display. I'd take a base S over a 3 any day. I recommend getting a Model S now, before Tesla swaps out the interior for the 3's, and loses what makes human driving an S something special.
5. Best Autonomy Car On The Market Today
Any Jeep. Forget autonomous cars. We want autonomy cars, as in cars that increase our freedom. What is autonomy anyway? It's liberation from boundaries, which are the only thing the self-driving lobby can promise. As I said in my recent op-ed Autonomous Cars? We Want Autonomy Cars, "get in a prepped Jeep with some jerrycans and you've got more autonomy than most of the humans ever born." A vehicle that can go anywhere, anytime is what people really want. If it can drive itself part of the time, great. Who cares how safe it is if it actually limits where you can go, because you're no longer allowed to own a car with a steering wheel? I'm all for safety, but not at the expense of human autonomy. Would you like to know more? Follow the Human Driving Association and read our manifesto.
4. Dumbest Use Of The Word "Autonomous"
David Pogue. Beware anyone called an expert, especially a technology expert, and especially a technology expert writing about cars. The latest outrage? "Tech critic" David Pogue's article "What it's like to use Tesla's newest self-driving car technology" is PR journalism at its penultimate, surpassed only by the garbage from the Tesla shills at Electrek. It's impossible to know if Pogue actually drove the car. He claims to own one, but there's no evidence in the article that he does. He gets so much wrong—from language to functionality—it would be better for his reputation if he didn't. There's so much to pillory here I'm going to devote an entire article to Pogue's article, so let's move on.
3. Worst YouTuber Most Likely To Inspire Self-Driving Apocalypse
Alex Choi. When the self-driving lobby gets moving on trying to ban human driving, there'll be no shortage of videos they can present to a Senate hearing demonstrating why. At the top of the list? Youtuber Alex Choi, who nearly kills a passing motorcyclist on Mulholland Highway while... being Alex Choi. As the founder of the Human Driving Association, I'll be the first to say there are people who shouldn't be driving. It's a privilege, not a right. And people like Choi are unlikely to keep it in the future. If you believe in freedom, Choi is one of those who should shunned, because he's not on our side.
2. Worst Performance From A Car Company Executive, Part 2
BMW's Klaus Fröhlich is just the gift that keeps on giving. My friends in Munich need to muzzle this guy or fire him. Every time I see his name, he is hurting BMW's brand. The latest outrage? This story: Electric Cars Will Always Be More Expensive Than Gas Cars—in which he says exactly what you think he did. If he's right, what is accomplished? Nothing...except he sounds like someone who doesn't understand EVs at all. Tesla has shown that EVs don't need to be cheaper than ICE to sell and that people will pay UP from ICE to own a Tesla, but not necessarily other EVs. Not that BMW would know or understand that, since their EV strategy is dead on arrival no matter what happens, at least for the next few years, during which the Porsche Taycan will do what BMW failed to. And if Fröhlich is wrong—and EVs do eventually become cheaper than ICE—he was just another legacy industry exec who missed the boat. FYI, when cars were invented, they were more expensive than horses. But people still preferred cars. Products don't exist in a vacuum, and big company execs should understand that better than Fröhlich.
1. Most Despicable Fansite For A Major Car Company
Electrek. For those who don't give a s**t about Tesla, consider yourself lucky, for you've been spared exposure to one of the most toxic of modern media outlets, the news/fansite Electrek, whose existence is an intellectual and moral blight on those who like the cars, or believe in the vision. Helmed by bald-faced shill Frederic Lambert, Electrek will spin any story to make Tesla—in which Lambert is admittedly long—look good. Lambert never met a fact he wouldn't omit, or clickbait headline he wouldn't run if he could get $TSLA a little higher for the day. Lambert's history is well documented here and here, but the most bizarro chapter in the Electrek saga happened when Lambert turned against Musk for dropping the price of the Model 3 Performance by $4000...two months after Lambert bought one. Lambert got dismantled by his own fans for his hypocrisy, then again by long-time critics, then he doubled down, then reversed himself again to get back in Musk's good graces. To call Lambert a whore is an insult to those who chose sex work because they lack a better alternative. Lambert has a choice, and always chooses the low road. Lambert is the gift that keeps on taking, a bad actor in a show he doesn't understand, occupying a secondary role anyone could, if only they were willing to work for less than the perks of living off the star's discarded script. There are a lot of reasons to root for Tesla, but there is one big reason to pray for their failure, and that's to prevent people like Lambert from being financially rewarded for lowering the informational bar and gutting ethics. If you think I'm being harsh, you're wrong. I LOVE Tesla. Not because I'm blind to their failures, but despite them.
What else might attract my love or ire in 2018? We'll find in two months.

“A Cyborg Manifesto” by Donna Haraway looks at the way a cyborg crosses boundaries. Boundaries of human/animal and machine, good and bad, and control and chaos. She questions the rigidity of identity politics and the institutions surrounding gender and race.
In “Dreams in Infrared: The Woes of an American Drone Operator” Nicola Abe examines two drone operator’s experiences with piloting for the military. One, a young man names Brandon Bryant has been diagnosed with PTSD and expresses regret about killing people through drones. He felt himself losing his humanity and still struggled with this after leaving the military. The other drone operator, a young woman with two kids felt differently about the experience and viewed being a drone operator with pride because she felt she was helping the soldiers on the ground in Afghanistan.
I had previously heard about drones used in war, but I had never thought about who was piloting them and where they were. It was surprising to me that drone pilots are often stationed in the U.S. even if they’re drones are thousands of miles away. This seems to both bring war closer to home as well as seperate it further. It brings war closer because the pilots carrying out kills are here in the U.S. and are able to go home to their families at night. But pushes it away because war becomes less human and more like a video game in which a button ends a life.
