we know EA interfered a lot with veilguard, i definitely do attribute the "sanitization" of the setting directly to EA's meddling, i even think to some extent taash's quest and the corporate representation feel of it all was influenced heavily by EA and not just weekes. and i think a lot of the companions being so shallow and their quests feeling half-baked is also mostly due to time constraints and rewrites/cut content-- the writers genuinely did do the best they could with what they had, and i feel for them and their frustrations. but. there are also just a lot of really bad decisions made elsewhere, too. like i said the racism has always been present in these games and it's always been a problem, it's literally baked into the worldbuilding, though i can definitely agree that some of it was potentially made worse specifically in veilguard due to constant rewrites and the loss of context and cohesion, but like... it was always there to begin with... and it's not "unfair" for players to point this out.
both things can be true-- EA absolutely fucked these people over, and we shouldn't be speculating conspiracy theory-type shit about the writers hating fans or whatever when we know. we know EA interfered, we know there were creative differences, we know they ruthlessly laid off a lot of the people that poured their blood, sweat, and tears into this game! EA is both stupid and actively malicious, they get no sympathy from me. veilguard absolutely is a casualty of the current state of the gaming industry. and i also think there were a lot of poor writing decisions made independently of that as well, that are fair to criticize and question. a lot of these problems are the same problems we've seen in every single DA game, and this consistency makes it clear this is not just an issue with corporate overreach.
but i really feel for everyone involved with making this game, this shit was clearly a very long and tiring fight, i can't even imagine the kind of constant corporate shitstorm they had to deal with for ten fucking years, and personally there is no NDA in the world that would keep me from talking shit. so these guys are stronger than me lol
#sorry i know these are just silly posts on tumblr dot edu but its important to me that people know im mostly being flippant#in some of my negative comments#like i dont think the writers are evil or whatever theyre just humans with biases that are very apparent in some of the things they write#and i also understand they got shafted big time and no one deserves the treatment they got#i could never be a narrative designer or writer in the gaming industry i would be so sickkkkkkkkkk#i follow this one author. the guy who wrote warm bodies. and he sent out a newsletter recently about how he was working on#a huge gaming project for a UK based company#and then the game got scrapped and they sealed all of his writing in a vault to just Never be released#oh i would be on the NEWS!!!!!! i couldn't do it. these people may be insufferable at times but they have my respect#for dealing with this shit. i could never#da posting

I see people continue to lose their shit over printed fanfiction - and yes it's obviously illegal and yes most of the time it's not even the actual people who wrote that fanfic who sell the prints (which is EXTRA scummy) but I keep wondering....
Is it really different from selling fanart prints, stickers and other merch? Why does the community accept doing art commissions of licensed characters, but printed fanfictions (assuming they were done by the actual writer) are where everyone is losing their shit and worries about legal repercussions?
Like, I see fanart sticker sets with stolen artwork on Amazon, but printed fanfic will bring down the legal hammer on fandoms? I just don't really see it.
#i dont think it's that big a deal#i mostly hate that fics are sold by people who didn't write them#but other than that...#SJM could never sue anyone for selling fics because otherwise Anne Bishop will sue her lmao#fandom woes#idk i feel fanfic writers alweays getting a lil shafted#u are allowed to make money with fanart#but not fanfics for some reason#iono#maybe im just salty because i wished we could have the openly chill fandom culture that Japan has#where you can sell your fancomics and fanfic no problem#where the industry even actively looks for talent at these events

| Combined post #4 | Decent horror movies featuring sentient objects as killers
Inanimate Object Characters List | Entry: 43
Finally we arrive at the movies that I've seen. Starting with those that I thought were decent enough to have been made into movies, but if someone would shittalk the shit out of them, I wouldn't be surprised.
Down/The Shaft (2001)
This is the American remake of De Lift (English ver. "The Lift") from 1983 made by the same Dutch director, Dick Maas.
I'm not sure if it's only the middle elevator being bloodthirsty and it takes partially control of the neighbouring elevators at some moments - or that all of them are killers. I personally like the first idea better, though, so that's what I'll stick to.
It's way less realisic than the original and lacks its charm, which is why I think the movie alright, but not worthy of its own post.
Down/The Shaft simply doesn't beat the original masterpiece.
Character: homicidal elevator(s?)
Movie: Down/The Shaft (2001)
2. Rubber (2010)
This movie is weird af, but at least the creators acknowledge it and I respect that. It's about a car tire making people's head explode. And then he falls in love with a woman. The ending is mind boggling, too, but I won't spoil it. Oh and also, a group of people watch it like a movie from afar with binoculars. Yeah, it's as absurd as it sounds, but if you're crazy like me, it may be worth a watch.
Character: Robert
Movie: Rubber (2010)
3. Killer Sofa
I don't know if I would put this one on third or fourth place, but since the list is already in the correct order of time w.r.t. release dates, I'm keeping it that way. So here we have a murderous "sofa", which is, for the record, a recliner and not a sofa. Moreover, actually it's a human possessing a recliner and the body is literally still stuck within its cushions, but it counts nonetheless.
This is the second time a human became a chair. Wow.
Character: Frederico Olsen [chair form]
Movie: Killer Sofa (2019)
4. Slaxx (2020)
Lastly, we have this movie that would have been the result of Hollywood and Bollywood having a (low-budget) baby. Mostly, there is one thing that I really did like about this movie why it made it to this list and not the previous one, which is [SPOILER ALERT] the way in which Keerat became the pair of pants. It's absolutely brilliant, because she literally BECAME the pants by falling into the blades of the cotton field equipment. It obviously doesn't make sense if you'd apply real logic, but for fictional logic, IT KINDA DOES.
Character: Keerat
Movie: Slaxx (2020)
--
PS: this post excludes the tag "things", "frederico olsen" and "keerat", because there were other - more relevant - tags I had to include.

finished abstract #2 and I'm actually quite pleased with it. I feel very evil typing things that seem so nonchalant on the surface but are going to end with "and that's why the SE Asian textile industry is exploitative and how the mining industry is in some ways complicit from the Bronze Age until now and all of you let this happen by not talking enough about how nitrates work."
If I could get away with it I'd love to do a 'this is where your polyester shirt comes from and why I'm going to beat them off your backs with a wet noodle' except this is the mining history section not an oil and gas history section.
Also apparently nobody is filling up the coal section mining history lectures :( I could do a third abstract I guess. Kill three birds in one lmfao. Just do the whole mining songs too and focus on the east coast. I think one professor who rambles is taking that slot though so honestly he can just go off I suppose lol.
#I'm honestly not sure if I've made the scope of the abstract bigger or smaller by spanning it across time. More work for me that's for#sure lololol. I love it though~ :3 I'm excited.#ptxt#It would be fun to take a list of random completely unrelated things and tie them back to the mining industry tbh.#Honestly though if I don't do music next year; I have a book on the history of the steam engine on my shelf and I'd love to talk about that#Did you guys know that the steam engine was for mining?#Hoist shafts my beloathed#Honestly the history of the hoist shaft itself is fucking awesome

Top 5 Reasons to Choose the PTO Shaft L-11 6X6 Without Cover for Your Equipment: SBJ NIRMAL PRODUCTS
Introduction
When it comes to powering your equipment efficiently, choosing the right PTO (Power Take-Off) shaft is critical. The PTO Shaft L-11 without a cover is becoming a preferred choice among equipment owners for its robust design, reliability, and unmatched convenience. But why is this model worth considering? Let’s dive into the top reasons why it stands out.
What Is a PTO Shaft?
A PTO shaft is a critical component that transfers mechanical power from a tractor or engine to another piece of equipment, such as a rotavator, baler, or mower. It ensures seamless operation by efficiently transmitting power where it’s needed most.
These shafts are widely used in agriculture and industrial machinery to perform various tasks, from plowing fields to operating conveyor belts.
Overview of the PTO Shaft L-11 Without Cover
The PTO Shaft L-11 is an innovative model designed for efficiency and durability. Unlike traditional PTO shafts, it forgoes a protective cover, which adds a unique set of benefits for certain applications. Built with high-quality materials, it ensures optimal performance even in demanding conditions.
Top 5 Reasons to Choose the PTO Shaft L-11 Without Cover
Enhanced Durability
The PTO Shaft L-11 is built to last. It’s crafted from premium-grade steel, making it resistant to wear, tear, and corrosion. Whether you’re using it in dusty fields or industrial environments, its robust construction ensures a longer lifespan compared to conventional models.
Improved Power Transmission
With the L-11, you get superior power transfer efficiency. Its design minimizes energy loss during operation, making it an excellent choice for heavy-duty tasks. The uncovered structure allows for better cooling, ensuring consistent performance over extended periods.
Cost-Effective Solution
Why spend more when you don’t have to? The L-11 without a cover is often more affordable upfront than covered models. Additionally, it requires less maintenance, saving you money in the long run.
Easy Maintenance
Keeping your equipment in top shape is easier with the L-11. Its open design allows for quick inspection, cleaning, and repairs. You won’t have to deal with the hassle of removing and reinstalling covers, which reduces downtime significantly.
Lightweight and Convenient Design
The uncovered design of the L-11 makes it lighter and easier to handle. Whether you’re attaching it to a tractor or another piece of equipment, the process is straightforward. Its lightweight nature is particularly useful for mobile machinery.
Safety Considerations
While the L-11 is highly efficient, operating an uncovered PTO shaft requires extra caution. Always keep loose clothing and hair away from the shaft, and ensure the equipment is turned off during maintenance.
Industries That Benefit from PTO Shaft L-11
The versatility of the L-11 makes it ideal for several industries:
Agriculture: For tasks like plowing, tilling, and harvesting.
Construction: To power machinery like cement mixers and pumps.
Forestry: Perfect for operating wood chippers and saws.
Conclusion
The PTO Shaft L-11 without a cover is an excellent choice for those seeking durability, efficiency, and affordability. Its lightweight and easy-to-maintain design make it a top pick for various industries. While it requires careful handling for safety, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.
FAQs
1. How do I ensure safety while using the PTO Shaft L-11 without a cover? Always turn off the equipment before maintenance and keep the area clear of any loose items.
2. Is the PTO Shaft L-11 suitable for all types of equipment? It’s compatible with most machinery, but ensure it matches your equipment’s specifications.
