"Moon is a good sister" is a common sentiment in the rain world community. To be honest, i have never seen a single post that talks about her in a critical way. That made me decide to share my observations and thoughts on why i think she is not a good big sister.
I'll start off saying that i like Moon with all her issues and quirks. If you are a fan of Moon, and consider any post that criticizes her "an attack" on your favorite character, please do not interact with this post. Discussions and additions are welcomed.
The main topic that needs to be addressed is her behavior in the situation with Pebbles (all the way from Spearmaster to Saint). Was Moon a good sister or was it just a facade?
The reason why she calls herself that way
It is stated in the Light Blue Industrial Complex broadcast that Moon chose the name Big Sister Moon because of her seniority status above Five Pebbles.
Evidently, Moon openly presents herself as his older sister both inside the local group, as well as outside of it.
Her attitude towards Five Pebbles
Moon doesn't know a whole lot about Pebbles, aside from his mental state that she learns about through the received neuronflies. The gifts from Pebbles' structure are not something she minds at all, on the contrary this behavior is encouraged.
In Rivulet's campaign, she reassures the slugcat to not make his situation worse by bringing her new neurons.
Still, she continues to accept them without any protest.
For the first time after their long separation Moon sees Pebbles only after the end of Rivulet's campaign. If the player visits him again after finishing the main story, they can see new projections showing the two playing some board game.
It is unknown whether they have talked to each other or not. But If i had to guess, their conversation must've ended shortly, turning into a silent game.
During Saint's campaign Moon doesn't express any interest in Pebbles nor does she try to see his state for herself. Her overseers do not spawn in Silent Construct and his collapsed chamber. The only way for her to discover that he's alive is by bringing his Music Pearl.
Her reaction indicates that she hasn't checked on him for a long time for unspecified reasons.
Was Moon a good big sister for him?
The situation between them can seem complex and confusing. It's hard to tell who's truly right or wrong.
I'll pose an analogy:
Imagine Pebbles getting a hold of a grenade. Moon is standing in close proximity. She doesn't make any attempts to see what he's got in his hands or what his plans are. He pulls the pin out, still holding the safety lever. He keeps slowly loosening his grip on it, putting Moon's life in danger, as well as his own. Moon tries to talk to Pebbles, disrupting his focus. When Pebbles almost lets go off of the lever and tries to throw the explosive away, Moon stops him. The grenade goes off, Pebbles gets heavily injured and Moon ends up in a coma.
Would a responsible older sister beat around the bush for so long in a situation that is threatening to not just her but also her younger brother? Obviously, no.
Moon is not a good sister, she's only trying to present herself as one. She's created a semblance of a great big sis, when in reality she's unsuccessful at that.
She wasn't
Did Moon have her chance to stop him before everything has gotten out of control? Yes. Suns brings up exactly that in one of the broadcasts, pointing out her seniority privilege.
Moon did not care about Pebbles' endeavors or interests. She's noticed the problem only when it had put at risk her own life.
Even after she has acknowledged the deadly danger, she kept on stalling. She wanted to talk to Pebbles and "shake him out of it".
As if what Pebbles is doing does not pose any danger at all. As if Pebbles is some disobedient, naughty puppy, whom, once scolded, is going to settle down. It feels like she looks down on him. She cannot imagine Pebbles doing something serious and important, therefore it must be easy to make him stop whatever it is that he's doing. If Moon legitimately was a good sister, she would've immediately stopped him and only then tried to talk.
Besides, Moon has demonstrated an odd demeanor towards Pebbles in the final Rivulet broadcast. At first her words sounded like something a genuinely good sister could say. But that shifts after Moon, almost jokingly, says how protective she is as his Big Sis. When in reality everything points at her carelessness.
Of course people could say that she's just excessively kind. But even if she was acting out of goodness of her heart, she's made a mistake. Instead of understanding and accepting Pebbles' personhood, she treated him only as her little brother and nothing more.
In conclusion, Moon's attempt to keep the face of a wonderful sister has led to a catastrophe, proving that she has failed as a Big Sister.

finished my profiles for medic and sniper for my bushmedicine fic series, thou giveth fever! ^u^ this covers some vague backstory and general info about them, and fun lil moodboards! html credit
very long text version under the cut!
Michael "Mick" Mundy
pronouns: he/him
dob: January 19th
country of origin: Australia
mercenary alias: Sniper
current employer: TF Industries (RED)
primary inventory
Sniper rifle (stock), SMG, kukri (razorback and cozy camper used intermittently). Carries a thermos for coffee and small snacks (jerky, granola bar, etc). Keeps herbs for improvised healing. Wears shooting glasses with prescriptions in them; nearsighted.
fighting style
Ideally prefers long distance [sniper rifle], also adept at close-range combat [kukri]. Would rather fight alone, moving from vantage point to vantage point. Assists team by calling out incoming BLUs from respawn and taking out flanking enemies.
hobbies
taxidermy, grilling, canning/preserving, botany, playing saxophone, bar games (billiards, darts, shuffleboard), hunting, bonding with his owl, horseback riding, reading (poetry, non-fiction, romance), sharpshooting, journaling, leatherworking
Prefers being on his own and doesn't like to rely on others, but will gladly lend a helping hand if you ask him. He is constantly honing his skills and places a lot of personal value on how useful he is to those around him. Sniper is sexually repressed and emotionally immature, absolutely awful at processing and understanding his own feelings.
height: 6'3" (190.5 cm)
build: "dad" body
hair: brown (mullet)
eyes: light brown
background; The following is a mix of my own personal headcanons, canon events, and my interpretation of them. This feeds into my fic series, Thou Giveth Fever.
life before Teufort (pre-game or comic events)
Sniper grew up with his parents in the Australian bush and has spent his life honing his skills as a hunter of man and beast alike. Had a strained relationship with his parents for most of his life after leaving home to work as an assassin (later mercenary). Grew up as a social outcast and prefers working alone to this day. Devotes himself completely to his work and cared little for establishing relationships (romantic or platonic) while on his travels, keeping to himself and living in a custom-converted camper van that his father had given him before he left home.
Took up big-game hunting and taxidermy as side hustles between bigger jobs and has a lot of respect for life and death. Educated himself on being a survivalist (building upon what his father had taught him growing up in an unforgiving rural area) and amassing a large knowledge of herbal remedies and tactics that helped him become the efficient hunter he is today.
employment with RED team (events of Team Fortress 2)
Works with his team by pinning and picking off BLU mercenaries at choke points and calling out enemy positions to his teammates. Moves from tower to tower as matches progress and dislikes being on the ground, but will go where he needs to in order to get the job done. Doesn't mind getting his hands dirty for the sake of the job and will do so without complaints.
Originally reluctant to join a mercenary team, Sniper eventually grew to enjoy the company of all of his coworkers, specifically Engineer, Demoman, and Spy, along with Scout. They drink together in their off time, often having to drag Sniper out of his van to do so, but he's thankful that they do. When he's not in the mood for being social (most of the time), he can be found in his camper van, or outside bonding with his Western Screech-Owl, Ser Hootsalot.
after the team's disbanding (during - post-comics)
Sniper discovers that he's been adopted and is swiftly betrayed by his biological parents. He is fatally shot by Classic Team's Sniper and was brought back to their base, where he bled out and died. He [dreamed, hallucinated] that he finally gets his parents' blessing, expressing his want to stay with them in heaven. They tell him that he's still got a lot of people that need taking care of, and Sniper wakes up on Medic's operating table, having been brought back to life by the doctor.
After the team gets back together, Sniper is still left to deal with his family home after the death of his parents (having been interrupted by Miss Pauling recruiting his help in locating Australium) and, while unbothered by the revival itself, struggles with what to do with himself when he had been ready to die and then was... denied that. By a teammate who he seldom ever spoke to, who was working with the enemy at the time, no less!
-------
Dr. Ludwig
pronouns: he/him
dob: June 23rd
country of origin: Germany
mercenary alias: Medic
current employer: TF Industries (RED)
primary inventory
Medigun, syringe gun, ubersaw. Has no other medical supplies on hand other than his medigun and prefers to travel light. Carries a notepad and pen, and a water bottle to stay hydrated. Always wears his glasses.
fighting style
Best in close-knit groups or with powerhouse classes. Is deceptively athletic and can keep up with any teammate with ease. Sadistic and loves getting his hands dirty! Very capable and physically strong.
hobbies
baking, watching movies, learning new things, botany, reading (non-fiction), tending to his doves, practicing medicine, playing violin or accordion, sewing, listening to classical music, equestrian dressage
Enjoys working as a team and doesn't mind giving assistance when needed. Is a complete and total wildcard; likes being underestimated and knowing his own strength. Medic knows (and values) his own worth and has no problem letting others know that they need him, not the other way around. Very emotionally in-touch with himself.
height: 6'2" (187 cm)
build: burly
hair: black, gray
eyes: blue
background; The following is a mix of my own personal headcanons, canon events, and my interpretation of them. This feeds into my fic series, Thou Giveth Fever.
life before Teufort (pre-game or comic events)
Medic was an only child born to a well-off family in Germany. Not much is known about his past, and he likes it that way! He was a rebellious, unruly child who was impossible to contain, being passionate about things that personally interested him, and very little else. He cared for his parents, but never found himself missing them when he'd left home, or when they passed. Charismatic even in his youth, he had no trouble getting what he wanted, though seldom ever found himself caring about the emotional aspect of relationships, romantic or platonic. He wanted to do what he wanted, when he wanted, and had no desire to get swept up in people!
Devoting himself to his own strange, morally dubious scientific endeavors, Medic found himself signing on to work for Teufort Industries so that he could further develop what he called Uber science on the company's dime, while being given willing-and-eager test subjects for his every medical whim.
employment with RED team (events of Team Fortress 2)
Naturally, Medic spends most of his time conducting research on the science of his uber technology. He isn't a doctor because he has a medical license or for some higher-calling to help the sick and needy... he's in it for himself and his own gain, first and foremost! That doesn't mean he's heartless; Medic can be kind and sensitive, and even with his lack of social graces (despite what he'll tell you!), his teammates still regard him as a good coworker, even if they don't know much about him. You'll never know which side of Medic you'll get, and if you want consistent healing, it's best to be good to him; he can hold one hell of a grudge!
There's nobody's company that he cherishes more than his best friend Archimedes, a dove that he stole and would be the first member of his small dule. The good doctor is never focusing on only one thing at a time, and is quite the workaholic; nothing brings him more pleasure than medicine! In his (very little) spare time, he enjoys having tea and conversation with his best friend Heavy, and baking pastries and breads! Likes keeping his hands busy and his mind sharp!
after the team's disbanding (during - post-comics)
When RED team disbanded, Medic was unfazed and quickly sought out another means of funding his experiments. Such was life as a scientist! As it turned out, Classic Team was in need of a Medic and hired him on full-time, all expenses paid. If he healed them, they were content to leave him to his devices in his free time... whatever he got into, they were happy to be none the wiser. It was thanks to this carelessness that he was able to find Sniper's body after he'd been killed by Classic Sniper, quickly beginning to revive him.
1.3 billion dollars and twelve hours later, Sniper was alive and well again! Truly a medical miracle! Medic dubs him as his greatest achievement and distracts an interrupting Classic Heavy so that Sniper can escape and meet up with the rest of the team. When the mercenaries all returned to Teufort, things resumed as normal, though Medic found himself wondering if his greatest achievement was having any troubles readjusting to life after, well, death. He wanted to pry (he's very nosy, after all!), but decided to leave it be; if Sniper wanted to discuss something with him, he supposed he knew where to find him.

this product contains : dubcon (kinda) 2 possessive wild boys, female reader, mention of female genitalia, tiny mention of readers fam, oral (reader receiving), titty sucking!!, fingering
you should really start listening to your father more often, you realize, as you look around and realize that you are not back at the campsite.
“remember to take the map with you, and go with someone when you leave the campsite!” he had warned, and of course you in your prideful glory brushed him off, you could handle going to the bathroom by yourself.
stupid. dumb dumb dummy you thought, internally beating yourself up.
right now you looked around, all the trees looked the same, and your flashlight wasn’t industrial size, and didn’t help with sight. cheap thing it was. it honestly felt like a cliche horror movie. your phone was dead and even if it did work you were in the middle of nowhere with no service. all you had was a bag with toilet paper, pads and tampons, water, a flashlight, a first aid kit and toothbrushes and toothpaste. you suddenly felt scared. you were lost, in the woods of the highlands in the middle of nowhere.
there was the sound of something snapping in the woods around you. you jumped. another snap of a stick on the other side of the woods. you wheeled around, flashing your weak flashlight as if it could protect you.
you heard a growl and whimpered.
“oh god please don’t hurt me.” you squeaked. the bushes rustled, and something took a step out. you screamed, throwing your flashlight.
“ah- ow!” a deep voice exclaimed.
“oh god oh my god please don’t kill me please! i’ll- i’ll hurt you i’ll choke you with a tampon!” you yowled, switching from begging sadness to fiery threats.
“of course you scared her.” a deeper voice called from behind her and you whirled around, falling on your ass as you squealed. the flashlight that had fallen on the ground shined brightly on the two figures, revealing two men.
the first man, who was rubbing his head as he was the one you threw the flashlight at was.. beautiful. he had nice curly black hair and dark eyes. he had two moles above his brow, and his face was set with a deep pout. he also had a pair of fluffy white ears atop his head and a thick spotted tail swishing behind him.
the second man was big, burly with large muscular arms and a broad chest. he had short brown hair that was tinted with what seemed to be the color of moss, and there were a few small flowers in his hair. his eyes were olive green and his face was straight and square. he was so geometric. he had dark floppy ears on his head as well as large horns that had vines and other herbs hanging from them, seemingly tangled in them. they both glared at each other, and then looked down at you. the one with the black hair sighed, the hand that was rubbing his head moved to reach out to you.
“i’m sorry for scaring you, i didn’t mean to. i just saw you were panicked and i wanted to help. i’m sakusa.” he said, his white ears pinned to his head as his face flushed pink.
you took his hand, standing up, still silent in shock. the other man huffed, dragging his foot against the ground.
“i’m ushijima. i also came to help. you’re lost.” he said, the last part wasn’t really a question, it was a statement. that’s when you found your voice again.
“yeah.. i um.. i don’t know where my campsite is.” you murmured, avoiding eye contact with both of them. you could feel their heavy eyes on you, and you held back from squirming.
sakusa stared at you with dilated pupils, you smelled nice. fresh. clean. his nose twitched. he wanted to rub his face against your neck and your face and your entire body. his instincts insisted he take you to his home and lay you in his nest of furs and feathers and keep you there until you smell like him entirely. you could scratch his ears and rub his belly. he could keep your safe and warm with his own body heat. he clenched his fists to tether himself to reality, to control his urges.
ushijima thought you looked like a doe, lost in the woods all alone. you fiddled with your hands, biting your lip nervously. ushijima wanted to bite your lip himself. he wanted to pick you up and carry you away, keep you warm nestled in his arms, the thick hair on his chest perfect for you to nuzzle in. you seemed like you would fit perfectly against him. he could carry you on his shoulders to pick the fruits in the trees, lay you on his back when he was in his animal form and nap with you as you helped take leaves out of his thick coat. he blinked himself out of his dreams as you stared at them both wide eyed.
they glanced at each other, seeming to have a little staring contest before both nodding, begrudgingly.
“we’ll take care of you, sweet one. we’ll keep you safe for the night.” sakusa said in a honey sweet tone, as you carefully nodded. him and ushijima both took one of your hands, and ushijima took your bag. you didn’t know what to say really as they led you to a cave, watching you with sweet eyes.
“there’s no furs or blankets, we’ll keep you warm.” said ushijima as they watched you sit down on the cave floor.
they sat on either side of you, their warm bodies emanating heat. you were still sort of dazed from the whole situation as you laid down. sakusa hugged you from your left, as ushijima did the same from your right. the yak’s large hand squeezed your hip, making your stomach tingle. the snow leopard nuzzled against your neck, purring. the vibrations from his bare chest made your heart thump.
two kind strangers have helped you when you’re lost in the woods and are even keeping you warm. yet all you can do is think with your cunt?! you internally berated yourself. two kind strangers. two insanely attractive large hot strangers. both of whom were pressed against you like there was no room when you were all in fact in a very large cave.
you squeezed your legs together, using all your willpower to try and calm your nether regions, as sakusa’s clawed hand rubbed circles on your stomach, only covered by a thin tank top. you were hot, you were sweaty. you weren’t wearing a bra. you shuffled around in your laid down position, your shorts riding up to reveal more of your thigh and just the slightest glimpse of your ass. black panties. you didn’t notice but the two wild boys.. no, wild men, did. ushijima breathed in sharply, steeling himself. sakusa parted his mouth just slightly, the scent of your hidden treasure making his eyes roll back in his head. the two looked at eachother. they wanted you so bad. they could tell you wanted them too.
slowly, slowly, sakusa used his hand to bring your face to his. ushijima’s hand that was on your hip moved lower, tracing shapes on your shorts. you shivered. the straight faced yak smirked just slightly. you looked at sakusa innocently, plump lips just mocking him with the way they parted to huff out a short breath.
his self control was in shreds. sakusa kissed you, making your lidded eyes fly open in shock as you jumped. you didn’t know what to do, barely comprehending as you kissed back.
sakusa’s catlike tongue poked around your mouth. tasting and rubbing against your tongue, the strange texture of his tongue giving a brand new sensation to you. ushijima wanted your attention too though, as his big hands went up your shirt, his rough palms cupping your breasts. you squealed into sakusa’s mouth as he moved his lips from yours. your lips were puffy and spit slicked and it made sakusa purr. ushijima squeezed your breast’s and you moaned.
“we want you. do you want us?” ushijima said, levelheadedly as if his hands weren’t kneading your tits.
“mm-mhhhm yes oh-!” you said, squeaking. when you said yes, ushijima tugged on your nipple, making you squeak.
sakusa purred. he dragged your shorts off, as you lifted your hips so he could wiggle them off, throwing them somewhere in the cave. ushijima rid you of your shirt. all that was covering you were your panties, and soon those were gone as well. you were laid bare beneath them as they took your body in with glazed eyes.
your breath came short and fast as they observed you, then slowly moved. ushijima kissed your lips, once again cupping your breasts and playing with your now erect nipples.
sakusa lowered himself until he was at the same level as your drooling cunt. he gave a tentative lick and your leg twitched, and he proceeded to bury his nose and mouth into your folds. you squealed into ushijimas open mouth, as the yak swallowed all your moans hungrily. his mouth moved from your lips to your tits as he took your right nipple into his mouth, tugging and rolling the other one between his pointer and thumb. his warm mouth around your nipple made you squirm, as you tangled your hand into his hair and tugged. he groaned. ushijima sucked harshly on your nipple then lazily dragged his tongue over it.
sakusa was deep in your pussy, lost in the taste and scent. he swallowed your juices greedily, pushing his tongue in and out of your throbbing cunt. his nose rubbed against your clit, making you close your legs around his head. that made him feel even better as the feel of your thighs enclosing him, making him stay down there, felt heavenly. his sandpaper tongue twisted and slurped your cunt, before he brought a finger into your pussy too, then another. he pumped in and out of your pussy rhythmically, as he continued to suck and kiss and practically make out with your pussy.
both of them stimulated your most sensitive areas, and soon heat built up in your stomach as you clenched your fists. your moans grew louder as you approached your high.
“‘m gonna cum, ‘m gonna cum-“ you chanted, eyes rolled back. that made ushijima and sakusa work harder, sucking and licking and doing whatever they could to bring your orgasm closer. they succeeded.
“cumming! cumming cumming cumming-“ you repeated as the knot in your stomach snapped and a wave of pleasure crashed into you. you let out a silent scream as your body went rigid, yet you began to twitch as ushijima and sakusa didn’t stop.
“i just cummed- i can’t-“ you started but when you lifted your head you were met with two animalistic stares.
they were not done. this was going to be a long night. you squealed as the overstimulation crossed with a second orgasm. in the dim light of the cave, you could see something thick bulging out of both of their pants.
well, at least you weren’t still lost in the woods.

Instinctual stack: sexual
Sx is about having a strong awareness of your own genetic fingerprint. Whether it’s sx-dom or sx-aux. An intuitive grasp of how to present the ME-ness, or the SELF-ness. Also neuroticism with being considered sexually attractive hence shooting yourself in the foot when there’s someone you actually like. An sx-user likely has a precise explanation of what a tattoo expresses in terms of being deeply personal. An sx-blind might explain they simply liked it, or how it was a rite of passage of sorts (thereby having connected to their weak sx).
It’s not about “looking pretty” or “looking sexy”. Cher (sx/sp) wearing crop tops throughout her entire career, when it wasn’t fashionable whatsoever. Amy Winehouse (sx/soc) and her fifties pin up look singing jazz when neither of that was fashionable. Kate Bush (so/sx) whose expression and musical style paved the way for others. In a way, sx is about expressing your genes. As a rule of thumb, sx-blinds are more attractive in the conventional sense compared to sx-dom: Henry Cavill and Sam Heughan sp/soc and David Bowie or Mick Jagger sx/soc. Megan Fox is not an sx-dom, rather soc/sp with a lot of movie industry sexy going on, compare with P!nk sp/sx.

Nobody knows Maurice Tempelsman these days, but once upon a time he was hot shit both in terms of political connections and conspiracy fodder. Getting out of Antwerp in 1940, his dad was prominent in the diamonds industry, which meant he had an in to all sorts of mining concerns especially around Africa. At the same time, his family’s firm ended up hiring Adlai Stevenson as a lawyer. Stevenson was the Democratic presidential candidate in 1952 and 1956 chosen by the Roosevelt wing of the party, so of course he made all sorts of political connections. Finally, in 1950, Tempelsman managed to sell the Pentagon on buying diamonds for defense applications in bulk from his company, bringing him into the military-industrial complex.
Tempelsman worked heavily in the Congo. George Wittman, CIA case officer, was his representative there until 1963. He was replaced by Marc Garsin, a boisterous Belgian agricultural engineer with a big moustache. In 1976, Garsin was replaced by Larry Devlin, the CIA’s station chief in Kinshasa until he was forced out by pressures related to the Church Committee and the House Select Committee on Assassinations.
Garsin said some really wacky shit when he was finally pinned down for an interview in January 2005, which was strangely truncated, poorly formatted, and spread across multiple sources:
Q: You were working with Maurice Tempelsman until when?
Garsin: 1982 . . . I enjoyed every minute of it. After Africa they [Tempelsmans] sent me to South America. That was much better. Peru mostly. Chile. I was there of course when there was a revolution! I’ve got great fond memories to speak about Messr. Pinochet. . . .Let me tell you that the Allende years were not the sweetest years you could imagine. . . . Tempelsman was quite involved with the Kennedys.
Q: It’s been said that Maurice Tempelsman was also seeing Madeleine Albright. . . .
Garsin: That must have been after my time. In my time it was Jackie. She was a lovely woman. . . . And she loved Maurice. She really loved him. . . .
She learned her trade the hard way. Campaigning. . . . She was so good at it.
Who am I? . . . But when I was in the room with her — I was number one. She was fantastic at doing that! Pushing your guy up. . . . She knew how to do it. She was a great woman!
Maurice had this crazy way of always asking questions. And one day we had the Russians for lunch. The Russians were here to buy wheat. New York was in a terrible financial state at the time and Maurice asked the Russians —
“What would you advise New York to do?”
And the Russians said, “If you don’t have the money, don’t spend it.”
And I had it here [thinking to say], “If you don’t have the wheat, don’t eat.”
And Maurice knew me very well, and he knew what was coming. And Jackie was there. He looked at me as if to say, “Shut up!” He didn’t say it but he didn’t have to say it.
At his place I met nearly every Senator, every member of the House — for lunch the ones important. And I tell you something, there is not one who had it! The people who are governing us are idiots. Believe it or not. . . . Tempelsman had the biggest fundraiser [and I was introduced]: “Mr. Garsin from Kinshasa”. And they’d say — “Where’s Kinshasa?” People who were in charge of foreign affairs! At a time when there was a big business [in Africa] . . . Where’s Kinshasa. . .
Solarz. You remember Solarz? He was a member of the House from Brooklyn. He asked, “Where is Kinshasa?” He was a member of the foreign affairs committee.
It’s a bunch of zeroes! It’s a bunch of zeroes! All of them. The only one who made me laugh was Koch. . . .
Q: Sally Quinn was on Charlie Rose after the inauguration talking about how George Bush may have a “learning disability”. . . .
Garsin: Clinton was not better you know. I know people who told me. I’m not going to tell you who told me — but they said I’ve been a friend of this guy for 15 years but I’m not going to vote for him.
And you go abroad and it’s even worse. Even worse! Politicians. All of them. More than 50% of the House in Belgium after the war were checked for collaboration. And those people are trying to teachs us morals? Perfectly crooked . . . My son for a while was living in Holland. You can’t live in that country anymore.
Q: Drugs.
Garsin: If you’re robbed you’ve got to say thank you. It’s not going to last. It’s not going to last. We’re going to see a binge one of these days like in Chile.
Q: What do you think about all the security now here in the US? Overreaction?
Garsin: What’s the opposite solution? . . . I don’t know. I don’t like to get a bomb every time I cross the street. Something has to be done. But what? How?
Q: Organized crime. William Colby, former Director of the CIA before he died, said it’s possible that organized crime is “calling the shots” at all levels of government. And then he died mysteriously.
Garsin: It’s obvious.
But when they speak about torture, it’s hypocrisy! It’s been going on for years. I was talking to a Frenchman, a veterinarian who was taking care of all the animals for Mobutu. Mobutu had a zoo at the time. . . . He told me — “We did that in Algeria. We tortured people.” And he was the sweetest guy I ever met. . . .
And I asked him, “How can you do that [torture]?”
He said, “I promise you you’d do it.”
“I would do it? Why?”
“You know that the guy knows something that’s going to kill your friends — you’ll do it.”
I’ve been thinking maybe he’s right. I don’t know. He was the sweetest guy you could imagine. And you realize — he said to me, “I torture people” . . .
Tempelsman was doing business in the Congo on behalf of American Metals Climax, which exported copper and diamonds from the colony. Part of this involved aiding Moise Tshombe’s Republic of Katanga, a breakaway province that declared independence about three weeks after the anti-colonialist leader Patrice Lumumba was elected Prime Minister. Part of this involved an interesting deal involving Congolese uranium. In a meeting on July 27 1960, Lumumba announced to the American Secretary of State Christian Herter that he was willing to sell his country’s uranium to the highest bidder, whether that be America or the Soviet Union. At the time, Soviet sources of uranium outside of its country had through diligent work been curtailed, resulting in a limited supply of nuclear weapons relative to America’s stockpile. Suddenly, Leon Tempelsman and Son reported in September that the Pentagon wanted to do a deal for diamonds worth tens of millions, a strange commodity given that they had already stockpiled more than enough for years.
Perhaps the strangest part of all has to do with the CIA’s “executive action” program, a euphemism for assassination. Officially, the CIA initiated ZR/RIFLE in the fall of 1961, with the groundwork being laid in the spring of that year. The term is important. The CIA piggybacked on the State Department’s network of communications around the world, often in the form of telephone cables hooked up to machines that could encode and decode various messages. In order to ensure a degree of secrecy, even within these messages references to operations and people were never written directly. Instead, people were first given pseudonyms, and then they were given “crypts”. Consisting of two letters referring to an area of operations or sometimes a type, they were followed by a single word. What this word would be depends on who was naming it. Often, it was the young women the CIA used as typists around the world, resulting in names like LI/PSTICK referring to phone tapping and surveillance around Mexico City. Other times, CIA station chiefs (GS-13s, current salary $84,546.00 to $109,908.00) would compete to name things in a way that would be popular among readers as they were shared out loud at CIA HQ (as told by John Stockwell). LI was the digraph for Mexico. LI/TEMPO-1 was the nephew of Mexican president Gustavo Diaz Ordaz. LI/TEMPO-2 was Ordaz himself. LI/TEMPO-8 was Mexican president Luis Echeverria Alvarez, and so on.
ZR was not a digraph for a country. It referred to CIA Directorate of Operations, formerly the Office of Operations, also known as Staff D. because of a memo from 9 Dec 1946. Here’s a document the CIA wrote up for the Church Committee on ZR/RIFLE:
Why were they interested in QJ/WIN? This was the codename for a group of people hired for “sabotage and assassination” activity in Eastern Europe in the early 1950s. They were recruited by QJ/BANNER-1 Arnold Silver, head of the Luxembourg station, and thus placed under the digraph associated with that country. QJ/WIN-1 was assigned the pseudonym Jose Marie Andre Mankel, likely real name Jose Moise Czeschlak. QJ/WIN-1 had a long history of smuggling, including 3 convictions for narcotics, and was a typical choice for moving material. He hired a pilot for the Tempelsman job on November 21 1960, DM/LIVID-1. However, he was also the subject of a cable that was by far the earliest slugged ZR/RIFLE on November 1 1960, simply specifying that his identity was not known to Mobutu Sese Seko. The Church Committee ultimately concluded that he was used for a “one-shot assassination attempt”, which they found odd given his normal area of expertise. Ultimately, the bulk of the ZR/RIFLE program was targeted in a completely different area of the world: the order to kill Fidel Castro came down a year later in November 1961, 6 months after the program’s head, CIA agent William Harvey, had begun to hire mafia figures like Santos Trafficante and Meyer Lansky. Many of these figures were ultimately fingered repeatedly in the Kennedy assassination, leading to questions of whether QJ/WIN-1 had anything to do with it. There’s no record of just how Czeschlak got into the Congo, but there’s a decent chance Tempelsman could have helped given his own role in the program. And who is that pictured with Tempelsman on the tabloid cover, a woman who he was involved with at the very least from 1980 to 1994? It’s JFK’s widow, Jackie Onassis. Could this Holocaust survivor have committed the ultimate cucking?
On the board of executives for American Metals Climax with Tempelsman was Harold Hochschild, who also worked with him at the African-American Institute. This will be important later.

How effective lubrication of conveyor chain can impact process efficiency even at high temperatures?
Chains in drives and conveyors are highly stressed components in production lines as they typically endure harsh operating conditions like high temperatures, high load, dusty environments etc. High friction is encountered during the force introduction and force transmission in the direction of transmission. Lubrication plays a critical role in the efficient working as well as long life of chains. Failure of the lubricant to form a parting film to reduce friction can cause premature wear of the pins and bushings and adversely affect chain life. Additional problems due to poor lubrication include chains jumping off the sprockets, undesired noise, corrosion, chain failure and ultimately affecting production schedules.
Optimum and timely lubrication schedule results in better performance and can ensure long-lasting life for these critical power transmission equipments.
However, quality of the lubricant and its application procedure also has an impact on the service life of the chains. Lubricating oils with optimum viscosity and excellent penetrating property, efficiently lubricates the pins and bushings of chains, providing sufficient lubrication to reduce friction and wear. Detergency properties in the chain oil helps to flush out wear debris and contaminants helping in smooth engagement of the chain with sprocket. Hence, effective chain lubrication is the key to keep chains of drives and conveyors operational ensuring production reliability without extensive maintenance effort.
Below is a case study to illustrate how effective lubrication can enhance operational reliability of conveyor chains operating at high temperatures.
Customer: A leading manufacturer of aluminium containers with two production facilities located in South India. The particular unit and production lines are dedicated to produce aluminium cans for packaging segments of soft drinks, perfumes, cosmetics, pesticide industries etc.
