Main event of the year: India again becomes the center of civilization

This is an Indian spaceship! We saw the main event of this year. I followed the flight of Chandrayaan-3, and for me the landing of the module on the surface of our satellite became a real holiday..."

The real main event of the year was largely underestimated by world media. In the next decade, the real battle for the Moon will unfold - many countries have announced large-scale research and construction of moon bases. India has made a serious bid for the championship.

Information comes every minute. While we were preparing this post, it was reported that the rover had separated from the lander and set off on a journey through the South Pole of the Moon.

Most of our DCs are currently concentrated in major metros like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore & Chennai. Cities like Mumbai and Chennai have been traditional choices since most subsea cables have their landing stations in these cities. However, Delhi NCR has recently picked up the pace, keeping in mind the constant rise in demand for colocation services.

While the current batch of DCs have a considerable footprint (both in size and power) as they cater to hyperscaler requirements that need that kind of size, the future will see a healthy mix of edge data centers. In our view, there are two distinct reasons for this proliferation.

First, edge data centers will be an essential step toward the path of digital transformation in the rural sector along with Tier 2 &3 towns. These edge DCs will provide the necessary infrastructure to expedite many of the Government of India's technology initiatives. Edge-based applications that support financial inclusion and literacy are just some of the use cases that can be created as a direct outcome of setting up these sites. It will also allow the local professionally skilled workforce to participate in this transformation.

Second, when we speak about emerging technologies, one cannot have a conversation without mentioning 5G, IoT, and AR/VR, amongst other things. The need for ultra-low latency, high bandwidth, and computing resources near the perimeter binds all of them. While technologies like AR/VR have existed for a couple of years, adoption at scale would need edge DCs.

Speaking about AR/VR, the most important use case is in the form of the Metaverse. While there is a lot of confusion (we are still trying to make meaning of it) about what Metaverse is, we are confident of 3 key things which will make it a "reality":

A source of processing power to support massive computing functions.

The software behind these virtual platforms.

The network supports the above two.

Essentially, the Metaverse will require constant, instantaneous, high bandwidth data transfers that are not possible without edge computing. High-capacity IT infrastructure would be necessary to support the idea of the Metaverse, making edge data centers more crucial than ever.

Our view is that while the hyperscalers will continue to dominate the big metros, they will be a balance in the form of edge data centers spread across the nation, making it a more stable platform for nationwide digital growth. know more...

Flipkart, owned by Walmart, has unveiled a collaboration with Polygon, an Ethereum-based Blockchain platform, to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in India. This CoE aims to focus on researching and developing Web3 and metaverse commerce use cases. Jeyandran Venugopal, Flipkart's Chief Product and Technology Officer, expressed excitement about working with Polygon to leverage their expertise in onboarding users to Web3 and metaverse commerce.

This announcement follows Flipkart's recent launch of Flipkart Labs, a venture exploring Web3 technology and eCommerce applications. Why Anvay?

Bhanwari Devi’s indomitable spirit in the face of adversity became a catalyst for significant legal reforms. In 1992, she courageously exposed a child marriage in her Rajasthan village, only to be subjected to a horrifying gang-rape as reprisal. Despite her quest for justice, the legal system failed her, prompting a national outcry.

Bhanwari Devi’s ordeal spurred the creation of the Vishaka Guidelines, shaping India’s response to workplace harassment. These guidelines paved the way for the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, colloquially known as the POSH Act. To honour Bhanwari Devi’s resilience, we are hosting a global dialogue on harassment and discrimination, where she serves as our esteemed chief guest.

What is the purpose?

The aim of the dialogue is to create awareness around laws, rights, and remedies available, normalize conversations around ‘taboo’ topics, drive towards the inclusion of all irrespective of one’s gender, sexuality, disability, etc., see the performance of our laws so far, what we can do in future, learn about good practices across sectors globally and look for solutions for positive change. This is a dialogue with a cause and for a cause.

Easter Egg 1: Take a look closely at the left corner of the picture, and you'll find the Sansara Techno wheel. Long-time readers of my blog would recognize this symbol, as I often draw parallels between it and the quest for excellence, fighting against inner conservatism. The wheel symbolizes the continuous development and regulation of risk-return balances.

INTERPOL Dives Into The Metaverse In Attempt to Further Combat Crimes

During the 90th General Assembly of INTERPOL held in New Delhi, India, the global police organization unveiled the world's first Metaverse designed specifically for law enforcement agencies worldwide.

Registered users of the Interpol Metaverse can participate in activities such as attending forensic investigation courses and exploring virtual replicas of Interpol's General Secretariat offices in Lyon, France.

Interpol cited the growing use of Metaverse technology by criminals as a key driver for its entry into this space. With projections indicating a significant increase in adoption rates among the general population in the coming years, Interpol aims to proactively address potential criminal activities within the Metaverse.

The World Economic Forum, in collaboration with Interpol, Meta, Microsoft, and others, has issued warnings about potential risks in the Metaverse, including social engineering schemes, violent extremism, and disinformation.

Madan Oberoi, Executive Director of Technology and Innovation at Interpol, emphasized the importance of identifying and addressing these risks early on to develop appropriate governance frameworks and prevent the emergence of criminal markets.

However, law enforcement may face challenges in addressing these risks, as not all activities deemed illegal in the real world are necessarily considered illegal in the virtual realm. Efforts to mitigate these risks will require ongoing collaboration and dialogue among stakeholders to ensure an effective response.
