Four times Iwaizumi said I love you, and one time Oikawa beat him to it.
Iwaizumi is a lot of things. Gruff, tough, strong, brave, but all of that pales in the matter of embarrassing his best friend and he's learned a special trick. If saying 'I love you' makes Oikawa even more of a whiny brat, then that's just what Iwaizumi will do. A series of one-shots following Iwaizumi from confession through his and Oikawa's life together.
It's absolute, complete fluff nothing else.

Hajime glanced down at the purple plush Tooru had shoved into his arms.
âWhat is this?â He raised an eyebrow up at his best friend, carefully turning the creature around. It was soft but there were spines going down itâs back and itâs smile kind of looked like Kageyamaâs.Â
âItâs Gengar!â Tooru chirped, grinning wildly for some reason. Hajime wondered if the Pokemon was supposed to be something special, he was never a big fan of Pokemon and didnât really know what a Gengar was. âItâs for you! Itâs a ghost type and loves to sneak up and bully people, just like Iwa-chan.â
Hajime grabbed it and chucked it at Tooruâs head, catching it when it bounced off as his best friend squawked and fixed his hair immediately. Tooru scowled at him and crossed his arms angrily at him.
âWhat?â
âYouâre such a shit, Oikawa. Why do I want a Pokemon just for you to make fun of me? Itâs stupid, and itâs grin creeps me out-â
âYouâre right,â Tooru cut him off, turning away before Hajime could see his eyes and see if he was actually upset. âI should have gotten you Machamp, because heâs a big muscled idiot like you, no brains at all. You would have gotten along with him perfectly.â
âOikawa-â He called after him when Tooru stormed out, heading towards the ice cream cart across the street. He rolled his eyes with a sigh, gently rolling the purple creature over to look it in the eyes. Tooru had already bought it so he couldnât exactly put it back, but he didnât really care for ghosts whether creatures or real. He wasnât sure if Tooru was actually upset, or just trying to trick him into apologizing for insulting Pokemon but either way a few minutes to calm down would be best.
âOh hey, there you are.â Matsukawaâs voice came from behind him and he turned to see him holding one of the expensive life size pokemons. He held it up proudly. âIâm going to hit Hanamaki with this and see if I can knock him down in one blow.â
âWhat the fuck is that?â
âOh! Itâs a Goomy, it was the first Pokemon Hanamaki ever caught when I lent him my game, yâknow, when I got him addicted.â Matsukawa frowned for a second and Hajime couldnât blame him, Hanamaki had gotten way into the game for a few months and almost had to be dragged to practice because he wanted to catch all the Pokemon on Matsukawaâs game. âBut I see you have a Gengar, is it for Oikawa?â
âHuh? Why would it be for him?â Hajime said, then frowned at his own protectiveness of the plushy, he was already attached to the damn thing. Stupid thing.
âGengar is Oikawaâs favorite Pokemon.â
âThatâs an understatement,â Hanamakiâs voice cut in as he walked up, a large green dinosaur in his hand. He turned to Matsukawa and gasped, eyes wide. âThey said they sold out of him though.â
âI pre-ordered him, just for you.â Matsukawa said, eyes soft and then smacked his best friend with the purple and pink plush. Hanamaki didnât fall but he did burst into laughter, holding out the green dinosaur pokemon for Matsukawa.
âFunny, I pre-ordered him for you too.â Hanamaki said and Matsukawa cooed, quickly switching the two and squeezing the dinosaur. Hanamaki glanced over at Hajimeâs confused expression. âMeganium, itâs the final evolution of Chikorita, the first Pokemon Matsukawa ever got. His game got corrupted so he wasnât able to transfer her to the newest game where you can play with her, but now you can play with her all the time.â
âHanamaki, marry me.â Matsukawa said into the plushâs neck and Hanamaki laughed, cheeks red.
âI intend to, but after college.â He teased then turned to Hajime before Matsukawa could say anything about that. âSo, is that for Oikawa then?â
âUh⊠No, he gave it to me⊠Why does he like the little gremlin? Cuz it looks like Kageyama?â He frowned down at the purple monster and tried not to feel like he was hurting itâs feelings.
âI mean, maybe. But Oikawa told me that in the old games the Pokedex, the tool that tells you about the Pokemon, it said that Gengar plays tricks because itâs lonely and wants someone to be itâs friend forever. Apparently he felt so bad he decided that he was going to be itâs best friend forever and wonât trade them for anything. I even offered to give him a legendary in return for just one of his Gengarâs and he nearly had a heart attack at the idea of trading them.â Hanamaki explained and Hajime blinked, something warm blossoming in his chest.
He hadnât thought about it in years, long since forgotten since Oikawa had latched onto his side. How many times as a kid had he purposely harassed Tooru to try and get him to pay attention to him? How many times had he pranked him hoping Tooru would come out of his house and they could play together? How many times had Tooru jumped in front of him to yell at the older kids when Hajimeâs pranks had gone wrong and swear he wasnât going to leave him? When had they switched places?
He smiled at the purple creature, an idea forming. He did promise his mom he would confess before they graduated highschool, and this would get Tooru to forgive him for insulting his favorite Pokemon, it was perfect. He turned to Matsukawa and Hanamaki, rolling his eyes when they gasped at his smile.
âCan you two nerds help me with something?â
âOikawa!â The tall brunette glanced over at him, two cones held in his hand as he tilted his head at Hajime. So not too upset, and any left over hurt was immediately washed away as he looked at Hajimeâs chest.
âIs that a baby carrier?â Tooru squealed with laughter at the sight of Gengar carefully tucked into the baby carrier and held to Hajimeâs chest. He didnât even notice Hajimeâs hands behind his back.
âI didnât want to drop him!â Hajime insisted, frowning down at the little guy. He was way too attached to the little bastard already and he blamed Oikawa. âCome on, shit head, quit holding up the line.â
âOh right, sorry!â He smiled at the person behind him and skipped ahead with both of their ice creams. âWhereâs Makki and Mattsun?â
âI told them weâd meet them at the outside cafe around the corner, I donât think anyone is going to let them come inside with their child sized toys.â Hajime said, fondly remembering the two walking down the street together and beating each other up with their Pokemon.
âI mean, probably not⊠I suppose I should forgive you for being mean to Gengar⊠after all⊠You are taking very good care of your new child.â Tooru said, glancing back and snickering again. This time his eyes did catch on Hajimeâs arms being held behind his back. âWhat are you hiding Iwa-chan?â
âOh nothing⊠Just a gift for someone.â The effect was instantaneous, Tooru lit up like a christmas tree, bouncing on his heels.
âIs it for me?â
âWho knows?â Hajime hummed, turning so Tooru couldnât peer around and look. Tooru huffed, eyes narrowed and he jumped forward trying to move faster than Hajime and look behind his hands.
âYou know! You bully! Let me see my gift.â
âWho says itâs for you? Maybe itâs for Kindaichi. His birthday is coming up.â
âYou already bought him a new set of volleyball shoes and tickets for all you can eat Barbecue.â Tooru said, and Hajime paused mouth hanging open slightly.
âHowâd you know?â
âBecause I know you Iwa-chan, I know everything about you.â Tooru said proudly, head held up haughtily. He smirked down at Hajime who rolled his eyes. He didnât know everything, but he would in a minute.Â
Suddenly, doubt formed in Hajimeâs stomach. Sure, Tooru wouldnât throw him to the side and never talk to him again but they were going to different colleges and maybe Tooru didnât feel the same. Or didnât feel like putting his career in danger just toâŠ
âHere.â Hajime said before the anxiety could build too much. He held out the silver Pokemon and watched Tooru nearly drop the ice cream.
âHoly shit⊠Iwaizumi Hajime, do you even know what youâre giving me? Shiny Eevee is a limited edition⊠Sheâs so expensive, like⊠Holy shit Iwa-chan.â Tooruâs eyes were alight, wide and gentle like he was afraid he would blink and it would all be a dream. Then they moved to meet Hajimeâs and Hajime couldnât help but think of how beautiful they were. How beautiful Tooru was always. With his dumb antics and dumb hair and pretty face and his brain that somehow managed to outsmart everyone and yet insisted on aliens. Hajime loved it.
âI know, Hanamaki nearly cried when he saw me go to the register. I think my wallet really did cry.â
âThen why-â
âBecause itâs you.â He held out the Pokemon again, taking the cones from Tooru as he gathered up the large plush. âEevee can evolve into almost any type right? Well, you can be anything you want, anything in the world. Youâre special and you deserve a Pokemon as special as you are.â
âHajime.â Tooru murmured and Hajimeâs heart skipped a beat. He angrily told it to shut up, they hadnât even confessed yet. âOh she has a collar, did you buy her a special collar Iwa-chan?â He tilted his head as he moved to look at the metal piece.
I love you.
Tooruâs mouth fell open and he gaped at it for a second and Hajime had a flash of pride for finally managing to surprise his captain. He glanced up at Hajime and then back at the Pokemon and Hajimeâs heart stuttered at the idea that he would refuse it, or worse, laugh it off.
âI love you.â Hajime said, wishing he wasnât holding ice-cream so he could hide behind his hands, or even behind the Gengar at this point. âI mean, who doesnât. But really⊠I⊠I know you get a lot of confessions and I didnât mean to confess today, I meant to do the button thing but then I was thinking about Matsukawa telling Hanamaki to marry him because of the dinosaur-â
âWait Mattsun said what?â Tooru interrupted, confusion clouding his features and Hajime waved him off.
âIâll explain in a minute, anyways I realized youâre going to get a lot of confessions as soon as we graduate or even in college and youâre going to fall in love with someone unless youâre dating someone. And I canât really compete with Daichi-â
âI canât believe you still think Iâm trying to date Daichi that was clearly a ruse to piss off Tobio-chan.â
âWait what-â
âDuh, I told him I was going to be his new dad and he was going to have to call me Kindaichi and Kunimi big brother, I thought he was going to have a heart attack.â
âStop bullying him Tooru- Ugh I am trying to confess here! This is terrifying.â
âSorry, sorry, keep going Hajime. Iâll say yes when youâre done.â Tooru said, settling on his heels, head nestled on the top of the Eevee.
âThank you- Wait.â He glared at him, watching his best friends lips twitch up despite him doing his best not to smile. âI hate you, I take it back, I take it all back, die alone.â He spun and immediately arms wrapped around his waist and a head was burrowing into his shoulder.
âNo~ Keep going Iwa-chan, itâs so sweet and youâre so sweet and cute.â Hajime glared and kept walking, ignoring Tooruâs complaints and attempts to hold him back. He managed to break free after a second, turning the corner and handing the two ice creams to Hanamaki and Matsukawa. Tooru came around a second later, pouting and eyes creased in the way that told Hajime he thought he really messed up.
Hajime sighed and rolled his eyes, this was the man he fell in love with ages ago. He reached up and squished his cheeks and kissed him lightly.
âIâm completely in love with you.â Hajime said, and turned, plopping into the seat and grabbing the ice-creams back from the two stricken volleyball players. He heard the squeal before Tooru was slipping into the chair next to him and pressing up as close as he could, kissing his cheek.
âI love you too Hajime, and Iâm going to date you forever so you better be prepared.â He declared and stole a cone before Hajime could lick it, smiling at Matsukawa and Hanamakiâs looks. âSo whatâs this about marriage you two?â
Hajime rolled his eyes, watching his best friends flush and stutter out excuses. He lifted an arm and wrapped it around Tooru, feeling him lean into his side like he was meant to be there. He smiled softly and pressed his lips into Tooruâs hair to hide it. All this because of a stupid purple monster.
Two
Working in the library really wasnât how Hajime intended to spend his afternoons after school. Sure, it was fun being able to help the librarian and the students find materials and he loved being surrounded by books. However, it also meant he had to deal with every single idiot who spilt beer, marijuana, and other unspeakable liquids in his books. He didnât think he could ever be a librarian, which was good because he was studying Aerospace engineering, but the librarian in charge loved him after he threatened a senior who returned a beer covered textbook and they came back the next day with a brand new copy for a âdonationâ.
He closed his own textbook as a girl came towards the desk, a handful of books clutched in her hands. She flushed terribly when he held his hands out to take them and he couldnât help but be reminded of all the times girls would try to confess to Tooru in school only to squeak and run away. Of course, heâd gotten his own admirers but most of them had been fellow athletes and had quickly realized neither of them had time if they wanted to be the best at their sport.
âH-Hi.â She seemed so small that Hajime flashed back to the manager of Karasuno and wondered if she had gotten lost. Except she had been blonde hadnât she? She must have been, Matsukawa had teased Yahaba about having a thing for blondes.
âHi, checking them out?âÂ
âWhat- no- I mean yes, checking the books out.â She said when he held up the books curiously at her denial. âI⊠Iâm studying Psychology and I have a report due.â
âOh? Huh, about what?â
âAbout how society affects how psychologists report their findings.â She said, relaxing as they got to a topic she was more comfortable on. Now that they were talking, she seemed really familiar and he wracked his brain for her name.
âYou might want to grab this book too then, it covers a lot of different values at the same time as Freud started his psychoanalyzing.â He said, grabbing a book from the returned pile. âHe might have been a bit of a cocaine addict, but his work did change how psychology was used.âÂ
She paused and glanced at him as she flipped the book over. âYou know a bit about psychology?â
âOne of my best friends wanted to be a Psychologist for a while, before he realized that meant dealing with people and decided to become a baker instead.âÂ
âThose are completely different things.â She laughed, grinning at him and it hit him where he knew her.
âDid you go to Johzenji?â He asked and her face blossomed pink again.
âHow did youâŠâ
âYou were the manager right?â
âYeah, Hana Misaki⊠I know Terushima caused a lot of trouble for you but-â He waved it off.
âIs that why you were nervous? I wonât blame you for Terushima if you donât blame me for Oikawa getting into a fight with him.â He snorted, pressing down a grin when she groaned at the memory. Terushima had decided to flirt with Oikawaâs so called protege and Yahaba had flirted back, causing Oikawa to go into unnecessary protective mode. He called it âDoing his job as a Captainâ the team called it âMom modeâ.
âHonestly I think Terushima did it just to fight with Oikawa, I am so sorry about that-â
âReally, really, itâs fine, I think Oikawa enjoyed being able to fight him too, normally Yahaba throws the first punch so Oikawa doesnât get half a chance.â
âYahaba always tries to fight people bigger than him and I have to protect him!â Tooruâs voice was half shrill, lips twisted in a pout as Hajime turned to look at the volleyball player. He was always a bit wild when people called him out on his overprotective behavior. âI remember you punching that junior last week for flirting with Kunimi.â
âI remember you shutting the fuck up.â Hajime flushed, angrily scanning the books out and handing them to Hana as she laughed softly. Tooruâs gaze landed on her and twisted from jealous to curious in a few seconds, before she could even notice.
âHana Misaki? From Johzenji?â He asked, smiling his normal fake smile when she nodded, eyes wide with surprise. Her fingers tugged at the books nervously as if she could sense the possessive feelings roiling under the surface of Tooruâs mask.
âYes, hello Oikawa.â She tried to give him a smile, glancing at Hajime as he groaned and leaned over the counter to punch Tooruâs shoulder gently.
âWe were talking about Psychology, she has a report due.â
âOh! You mean like Makki was doing?â Tooru brightened immediately, an almost real smile on his lips.
âExactly, asshole. So quit being a jealous turd.â
âI am not a jealous turd, that would involve anyone being able to take you away from me. And Iâm adorable.â
âYes. You are.â Hajime said simply, a growing smirk on his face as Tooru immediately turned red and started to bluster and turned away, stomping away to a table. He laughed and turned to Hana. âWorks every time.â
âClearly. So you two finally got together?â
âIf I had a hundred yen for every time someone said that to me,â He shook his head, eyes settling on Tooru and softening immensely as the volleyball player pulled out his books and notes. Tooru glanced over and stuck out his tongue, childish despite his accomplishments and Hajime knew heâd do anything to keep him that way. To keep him away from the way the world weakened and darkened the souls in it, heâd do anything.
âYeah, weâre together.â He finally finished, glancing up at Hanaâs knowing look and trying not to get embarrassed.
âIâm glad⊠and a little jealous⊠Ah you probably donât want to hear it.â
âGo ahead, Iâm curious. Besides, no one else is here and my replacement doesnât come in for another thirty minutes.â
âWell.. I mean⊠Just the way he looks at you, heâs looked at you for as long as I can remember seeing you on court. Itâs like⊠youâre his rock and you look at him like heâs your sky. Iâve never had anyone look at me like that⊠Itâs dumb because I mean, Iâm only a first year in college, I havenât even lived that long. But⊠You two⊠Itâs like someone took a soul and split you in two. Youâre your own people, but you fit together perfectly and itâs⊠just⊠nice to know that couples like you exist. Meanwhile Iâm going to die alone because Terushima has scared off every woman this side of Japan.â Her voice flattened at the end, and she looked tired but also mildly amused as she thought back to her Kohai. Hajime laughed and shook his head.
âNot every woman, uhâŠâ He dug around for a pen and paper, scribbling a number down. âKiyoko Shimizu, give her a text. Tell her I gave you her number and sheâll introduce you to a few others. Thereâs a group of us who go out to the bars on the weekend and crash together at my place afterwards, if nothing else you can get a crap ton of free drinks out of it.â
She took it hesitantly and glanced at Tooru who was scribbling at something angrily and broke his pencil, staring at it like it betrayed him.
âHe lets you bring a bunch of girls over?â
âItâs amazing how nice he is once he hears the word lesbian.â Hajime pressed his lips together to stop a laugh from escaping. âAsk Kiyoko, sheâs put him in his place a few times. She could probably get even Ushijima to bow to her power, sheâs terrifying.â
âSounds like my kind of woman.â She tucked the paper carefully into her book. âI think thatâs your replacement, you have a good day Iwaizumi⊠and if you ever want to talk Psychology I definitely could use the study help.â She waved the books at him and headed out, passing Moniwa as he skipped in and hurried behind the counter.
âThanks for covering the first part of my shift Iwaizumi, I thought Futakuchi was going to eat Kogane if I didnât intervene.â He shook his head tiredly and held open the gate that led to the main part of the library. âGo on, I think Oikawa thinks Iâm going to seduce you into giving away Seijoh secrets.â
Hajime rolled his eyes, knowing the thought had probably crossed Oikawaâs mind and grabbed his books. He snuck his way around the library, careful not so alert his boyfriend as he laid his books down on the edge of the table. Oikawa was engrossed in a physics book and didnât even notice until Hajime was sliding his arms around his neck and hugging him from behind.
âYouâre a dumbass.â Hajime muttered in his ear, pressing a soft kiss to Oikawaâs forehead. âYou were totally jealous.â
âYou are gorgeous, of course Iâm jealous when a pretty girl comes up to you.â He huffed, looking away but Hajime could see his lips twitching up as Hajime glided soft kisses down his neck. âStop it, Iâm mad at you.â
âNo youâre not.â Hajime laughed, quiet and rough, the way he knew made Oikawa shiver and glow with pride knowing he was the only one who got to hear it like that. Oikawa hummed for a second then leaned back until his head was resting on Hajimeâs chest and he could smile at him. A real smile, the kind that made Hajimeâs heart skip a beat and his brain work ten thousand miles a minute thinking about their futures together.
âNo, Iâm not. How could I be? Youâre perfect, and you quite literally asked me out⊠doesnât mean I donât worry.â He admitted softly and Hajime kissed him. A gentle, loving brush of lips as he reached over and pulled the other chair closer and sat in it. Hajime took Tooruâs hands and tangled their fingers together, pressing a kiss to each knuckle.
âOikawa Tooru.â He said softly, looking up at him. He thought about what Hana said, about looking at Tooru like he was the sky and he tried to channel that. It wasnât hard, Tooru was his best friend, his partner, his love and every glance felt like falling in love all over again.
âY-yes?â Tooruâs cheeks glowed red and Hajime loved it, loved being the one to put that there. Loved that he could take Tooru from his snow-white skin to a cherry tomato and tease him and Tooru would never move from his arms.
âI love you.â He said simply, watching Tooru groan and lean over to hide his face in Hajimeâs shoulder.
âYouâre embarrassing! So embarrassing!â Tooru insisted, squeezing Hajimeâs hands and sighing softly. Hajime just shrugged, letting Tooru hide in his shoulder and humming softly.
âI love you still.â He said, lips twitching when Tooru whined again.
âI love you too Iwa-chan⊠even if you are a butt head.â
âSure, darling,â Hajime felt Tooru shudder and knew he was red again at the nickname. âLetâs study huh? And Iâll make dinner tonight.â
âYou spoil me⊠Iâm going to get you back for it, just you wait, Iâm going to say I love you first one day and youâre going to be so embarrassed and Iâm going to laugh.â Tooru declared, but sat up, keeping on hand in Hajimeâs and pushing his books over, settling against him.
Three
Tooru was tired, bone achingly tired. Everything hurt. His head, his feet, gods his knee felt like it would be worthwhile to chew off, and worst of all his ass hurt. Stupid Kuroo and stupid Bokuto knocking him down, they never checked to make sure there wasnât anything they were knocking someone on. Thank the heavens Aran was there to pull them off, Oikawa was sure he was going to die under their combined weight.
Now he was home and didnât want to do anything ever again. Ever.
He glanced around, pouting when he saw that Hajime wasnât home yet. He was probably still at the library, getting in extra hours to cover his half of the rent and still be able to afford unnecessary amounts of Godzilla merchandise. Or as Hajime said âTotally necessary Godzilla merchandise.â
The apartment was homey, comfortable with a nice couch in front of a tv with a table that was more footrest than anything at this point. The shelves around the walls were decorated in pictures of the old team and random merchandise, from Final Fantasy Chocobo statuettes to Hajimeâs failed attempt at felting a godzilla that Tooru absolutely refused to let him throw away. It was rather clean, considering both of the boys had a habit of dropping everything on the couch and then losing all of their stuff twenty seconds later when they needed it. There was a small desk off to the side, covered in papers from Hajimeâs engineering designs and whatever doodle Tooru decided would annoy him the most. (Despite lacking all artistic ability, given a pencil and a ruler Hajime could actually draw decently, as long as it was only technical designs of course.)
Tooruâs own desk was in his room, and was drowning in textbooks and scattered notes and a single volleyball that he had been using as a pillow the last few nights. Hajimeâs room was empty except for a bed that was always made in case of a fight, or more commonly, one of them had to pull an all nighter and didnât want to keep the other up. Not that it stopped Tooru from just wandering in at four am and laying on his boyfriend for an hour until he had to get up. Sometimes it was just nice to be held for an hour, atleast Tooru thought so.
Tooru looked blankly into the kitchen from the couch and thought heâd rather sleep for the next century before he cooked dinner. He let his volleyball bag fall to the floor, barely making his bookbag land on the couch before he turned and stumbled into his room. The floor was still covered from the pillow fight that Hajime had started that morning and Tooru decided that was good enough.
He collapsed onto the pile of pillows, grumpily kicking at the blankets as they caught on his shoes. He barely managed to make it cover his shoulders before he was passed out, snoring happily onto the pillow nest.
When Tooru woke, he was tucked carefully into his bed and his shoes and clothes had been removed. It took him a moment to realize what was wrong and he gently patted his chest and legs, sighing in relief when he found his boxers still on. It wouldnât be the first time he stripped naked in his sleep and his clothes always seemed to find themselves in the strangest places, like the microwave. Thankfully, if he was still wearing boxers that meant that Hajime had moved him.
He sat up.
Hajime.
He scrambled out of bed, cursing as pain shot up his knee, it was aching again. He glared down at it and swore that as soon as cybornetics were available he was replacing the thing. It wasnât as bad as earlier and he could walk on it without major pain, but the residual ache was getting annoying.
Tooru took a breath trying not to be annoyed as he leaned against the doorway opening the door and breathing in the rich scent of food. His mouth watered almost immediately and he groaned, stumbling his way into the kitchen.
Hajime was standing there, stirring slowly and reading a book in the other hand. He glanced over and smiled and Tooru felt like melting into a puddle at his gorgeous boyfriend. His brown eyes were shining with amusement as Hajime looked over at him and put the book on the counter, covering the pan with a lid and making his way over. Tooru leaned into his strong hold as soon he was able too, winding his arms around him.
âItâs my turn to cook dinner.â Tooru sighed, nuzzling his neck and breathing in the smell of sandalwood that came from Hajimeâs skin. He loved how he smelled, it was so unfair. Tooru had to spend his days around sweaty nasty people (like Bokuto no matter what Akaashi said, Bokuto needed a shower before hugging anyone) and Hajime smelled like a fancy shop.
âYou were tired.â Hajime said, fingers gently stroking through Tooruâs hair and Tooru could imagine if he was a cat heâd be purring up a storm right now. Still, he pulled his head back and frowned at his boyfriend. He couldnât help the guilt that welled up in his stomach and he swallowed anxiously.
âYouâve made dinner three nights in a row⊠Seriously, you could have woken me up Haj. Iâm sorry, Iâll make dinner tomorrow,â Tooru insisted, grumping when Hajime shook his head.
âTooru, you nearly cried when I picked you up off the floor. Youâre tired and youâve been pushing yourself extra hard these past couple of weeks. I can let you rest a bit more while the seasonâs going. Now when finalâs come and they give you time off, then you can make it up to me.â Hajime teased him and Tooru kissed his nose, smiling at the sprinkle of pink that spread over his cheeks. Hajimeâs lips were spreading into a small smile, tiny and unintended and in Tooruâs opinion, the best smile he was capable of. It was one that Hajime never meant to give but it meant he was so happy and relaxed that it slipped out and Tooru would literally do anything to see it every day.
âPinky promise?â Tooru hummed and Hajime laughed, kissing him and murmured against his lips.
âPinky promise.â He finally let go of Tooru, just long enough to lower the heat on the pan and stir it a little. Then he turned and gave Tooru a look that made him a little weak. The curve of a smirk on his lips, eyebrow raised, and a dangerous glint in his eyes that made Tooru sure Hajime knew exactly what he did to him.
âI can think of something that you can do to make it up to me right now though,â Hajime purred and Tooru was about to complain about atleast getting a pillow for his knees when Hajime turned and pressed a button on his phone. Soft music echoed from the phone and Tooru let out a peal of laughter, rolling his eyes.
âWhat?â Hajime asked, arms crossed. Tooru just shook his head, leaning against the door frame as the laughter shook him. Hajime huffed and glared at him until Tooru held out his hands and made a grabbing motion with them.
âYouâre just⊠gods⊠youâre just amazing.â Tooru laughed, wrapping his arms around Hajimeâs neck and leaning in to press their foreheads together.
âThatâs why youâre laughing at me? Because Iâm so amazing.â Hajime deadpanned, sliding his own arms around Tooruâs waist.
âBecause I get to step on your feet.â Tooru said, teasingly tapping his feet with his own and Hajime snorted, pulling him closer and tilting his head up to kiss him sweetly. Tooru didnât bother to pull away, kissing back as Hajime swayed them to the music.
âTooru, youâre the worldâs biggest dumbass.â Hajime murmured against his lips, smiling when Tooru squawked in fake offence. âAnd youâre the love of my life.â
âUgh.â Tooru groaned, burying his face in his shoulder as Hajime laughed. As many times as heâd been able to embarrass his boyfriend and turn him shy, he would never be bored of it.
âI love you. I love youâŠ. I love you.â Hajime said, spinning them slowly and listening to the ever growing groan. He pecked his cheek and said it again, moving to take his hands and kiss them too, repeating himself as Tooru whined and kissed him to shut him up.
âStop it, youâre a bully⊠I love you too.â Tooru said after a minute, pouting cutely and Hajime couldnât help himself.
âI love you.â He whispered, looking him in the eye and Tooru rolled his eyes, a smile on his lips.
âOne of these days, I swear. Iâm going to make you a mess, just like you do me.â
âYou make me a mess every time you smile. Itâs like the world disappears.â
âWho is giving you lessons!â Tooru blurted, whining and collapsing into his chest as Hajime laughed and rubbed his back. âYou are too smooth, youâre going to get so smooth you break up with me and marry someone just as smooth⊠like⊠like Akaashi! Or Suga-chan! Or orâŠâ He frowned then looked at him, eyes wide.
âYouâre going to fall in love with Kai-chan and Kuroo is never going to let me live it down. And I canât even be made because heâs adorable and sweet and I love Kenma-chan so much?â Tooru gasped, and Hajime wondered if Tooru was purposely being a shit or if he genuinely was concerned that Hajime was going to run off with Nobuyuki Kai. Then he decided he didnât care.
âTooru, do you love me?â
âWhat? Of course I do. Completely in love with you.â
âAnd you know I love you right.â
âWell yes, right now-â
âTooru.â
âYes you love me.â
âYou remember what you said when I confessed? Iâm going to date you forever. I agreed. Iâm not going anywhere idiot. Iâm going to love you forever and youâre going to be sick of me by the time we get to the afterlife youâre going to beg me to marry Matsukawa so you can hang out with Hanamaki.â Hajime said seriously, lips twitching when he saw Tooru trying not to laugh at him. Tooru shook his head, then sighed and smiled, leaning in and kissing him long and deep.
âHow is it that even when youâre saying something ridiculous like that, youâre still able to make me fall even more in love with you.â
âDuh, Iâm your partner. Weâre meant to be, like the stars in the sky, fish and water, Daichi and horrible teammates, snow and antarctica.âÂ
âOh Iâm so telling Daichi you said that- Wait does that include me?â He gasped, offended and Hajime kissed his cheek, letting go and moving to the stove to stir the pan. âOh nice try, get back over here and finish my dance and tell me the truth.â
Hajime just laughed, blowing him a kiss and focusing on the meal.
Four
Hajime considered himself lucky, most of the time. He had a great boyfriend, amazing friends, a nice apartment, a decent job, and he was well on his way to graduating at the school of his choice. Then, Tooru got ahold of alcohol.
Tooru wasnât the worst alcoholic. He was just⊠worse.
Tooru had three moods when handling alcohol. Clingy mother, slutty, and marrying Hanamaki. Out of the three, the clingy mother mode was probably the most dangerous. If he didnât have someone to pay attention to, he would often have to be wrestled from his phone before he called up whoever his thumb hit first and started asking about their dinner.
It wasnât too bad the few times heâd dialed Bokuto or Ushijima, both who were willing to humor him and discuss a proper meal. Kuroo on the other hand got so much enjoyment out of the panic that Tooru caused when he thought he was without dinner that even Kenma and Yaku had to get involved.
Slutty was just Tooruâs normal mood, ramped up. Hajime really didnât mind that one, especially when half the time Tooru passed out before anything happened and Hajime could seduce him into going home before they reached the clingy mother mode. Or, if someone else was the designated driver, he got to have fun with his boyfriend.
Marrying Hanamaki was probably the most troublesome. Of course, if you asked Tooru, heâd remind Hajime that he was notorious for drunkenly buying plants and crying through a divorce statement when Tooru took away his credit card. If you asked Hajime, heâd tell Tooru to shut up about that.
Hanamaki and Matsukawa were great friends, and they only harassed Tooru a little bit after any drunken misadventures. However, during the misadventures they were almost as bad as he was and it was in their nature to harass and bully Hajime at any moment. They claimed that it was their duty to protect Tooru as their captain, but Hajime just knew they got off on watching him suffer.
Tooru, on the other hand, absolutely adored his friends and despite the constant bullying of his boyfriend and teammates Tooru considered Hanamaki and Matsukawa to be the best people on earth and refused to bully them. Hanamaki and Matsukawa were well aware of this and abused it.
âBabe, we should get a cat.â Tooru stated one night when they had all gone out to drink, staring at the empty shot glass in his hand.
âI donât want a cat,â Matsukawa grumbled before Hanamaki laughed and ruffled his hair.
âHis other babe, the one he goes home too.â Hanamaki teased Hajime, who just stared him down as he drained the beer in his hands. Hanamaki blinked in surprise before giggling and leaning against his boyfriend.
âTooru, why do you want a cat?â Hajime finally sighed, waving down the bartender for another beer. Tooru hummed and flopped onto Hanamakiâs shoulder, pouting at Hajime.
âBecause. Cats.â
âThatâs not an answer.â Hajime frowned at the beer, the fuzz in his head making it a little hard to think. He was pretty sure it wasnât an answer, he wasnât completely certain but if he let Tooru know it then he would lose the argument. Which argument that was, heâd already forgotten.
âBut babe, I can name her princess and-â
âWho said weâre going to get a girl?â Hajime interjected and Tooru gave him such a look of disbelief Hajime was almost sure heâd sworn or said something insulting.
âThe only dicks Iâm touching are my own and yours, not a catâs.â Tooru said dryly, blinking in surprise when Hanamaki and Matsukawa both jerked with laughter, Matsukawa spilling alcohol on his lap. âIwa-chan why are they laughing?â
â... Dicks.â Hajime said simply, leaning backwards unsteadily as Tooruâs hand smacked at his face.
âDonât be mean to them, theyâre your friends.â He complained and Hajime batted his hand away.
âYou said a dick joke! Youâre such a brat.â
âI did? HuhâŠâ He pouted at Hajime, reaching over to tug petulantly at his shirt. Gods, he was cute. He was so absolutely adorable and Hajime didnât know how heâd gotten the cutest damn boy in the world. He couldnât help it, leaning over and sloppily kissing his forehead.
Tooru turned a brilliantly beautiful shade of pink and giggled, tugging Hajimeâs shirt and trying to turn away when Hajime tried to kiss him again.
âNo~ Iâm trying to make a point Hajime!â
âYouâre beautiful.â It slipped out before Hajime could quiet himself and he could hear his friends mocking him to each other. Then Tooruâs eyes met his and he decided he didnât care. âYouâre the most beautiful person in the universe.â
âH-a-j-i-m-e.â Tooru complained, shaking his head. Then he paused and leaned in to kiss him lightly. âYouâre distracting me, besides⊠youâre absolutely stunning⊠Iâm lucky you decided to love me.â
âNo Iâm-â
âOkay, you two, I love you both but donât start that again.â Matsukawa interrupted, arm reaching around Hanamaki to gently push Hajimeâs face away from Tooruâs. Tooru scowled immediately, crossing his arms and turning to glare at Matsukawa. âCats, Tooru?â
âOh! Iwa-chan! We should get a cat! I can name her Princess and hold her and love her and brush her and feed her⊠and her name will be Princess because sheâll be perfect like me⊠and a Princess⊠like me!â Tooru said, obviously proud of himself for that string of thought before he was grabbing Hanamakiâs drink for himself. Hanamaki didnât mind, only occasionally sipping at Matsukawaâs drink.
Hajime sighed and shook his head, taking a drink of his beer and vaguely wondered why he hadnât gotten wine like Matsukawa. Then he caught Tooru greedily drinking Hanamakiâs sweet liquor and remembered that Tooru was addicted to any sweet alcohol.
âTooru, we canât get a cat.â He finally said when Tooru started to wiggle unhappily in his stool.
âWhat? Why not? Weâre adults, we donât have to ask my mom.â
âWe donât have anything for a cat, you donât even know how to clean a litter box.â Hajime said logically, but he knew he was fighting a losing battle when Tooru steeled his gaze.
âI can learn anything I need to, and I can be a perfect owner.â He insisted and Hajime sighed, not particularly against a cat but deciding to get an animal while drunk was a terrible decision.
âYou can ask Kindaichi!â Hanamaki said and both Matsukawa and Hajime shouted as they heard the name. It was too late. Tooru perked up immediately, his foggy gaze the clearest it had been since they started drinking. Mother mode activated.
âKindaichi? I havenât talked to him in so long, I wonder if heâs doing alright. He was really worried about that history final and of course trying to be a captain, and heâs so cute when heâs all huffy and worried about Kunimi- Haj, Hajime, whereâs my phone? Baby, whereâs my phone I want to call Kindaichi.â Tooru asked, reaching over to check Hajimeâs pockets. Hanamaki grabbed the phone that was on the bar and started to offer it to Tooru before Matsukawa snatched it and shoved it in his pocket before Tooru turned around.
âOh!â He turned and without even blinking at the rudeness of the action, stuck his hand into Hanamakiâs pocket and pulled out the pink haired manâs phone. âThanks Makki! I bet Kindaichi really misses us, he always worries too much⊠He needs a hug, Iwa-chan, you should hug him more⊠We should all hug him more, and then we can hug Kyoken-chan. Yaha-chan says he doesnât bite people when they hug him anymore, oh and Shi-chan says he got a new boyfriend and I have to make sure heâs being treated right.â
Hajime leaned to the right and caught Matsukawaâs gaze, mouthing âShi-chan?â Matsukawa just shrugged. There were three people that could be, and knowing Tooru he could mean all of them.Â
Hajime licked his lips, watching Tooru chatter as he tapped away at Hanamakiâs phone. He needed to intervene before Tooru started randomly harassing their kohai and terrifying them, but without upsetting Tooru who was emotionally unstable when drunk. He might have been the most badass person Hajime knew while sober, but after a few drinks that went out the window faster than a demon out of hell.
Hajime blinked when Tooru flipped the phone upside down and then turned to quietly lay it on the bar. The three of them watched him curiously as he stared at the device and said seriously.
âI have no idea how Makkiâs phone works.â He pressed his lips together looking pouty before his lip quivered. Tooru blinked rapidly, turning to look at Hajime as tears built up on his eyes and panic built in his chest. âDid I lose my phone because Kindaichi doesnât want to talk to me?â
Hajime had no idea where he got that, but was mentally banning Tooru from anymore of Hanamakiâs drinks. He reached out and took his hand, patting them as his drunken brain tried its best to kickstart itself into thought. Matsukawa, more sober than all of them, had the absolute worst thought as he grabbed Hanamakiâs phone.
âTooru! Iwaizumi will get you a cat.â The curly haired accountant blurted and Tooru gasped excitedly, his mind too intoxicated to focus on more than one thought at a time.
âI am not getting him a cat, Mattsun, Iâm drunk.â Hajime blurted and Tooruâs face crumpled as Hajime realized Matsukawa was trying to help.
âFine, then I will buy you a cat!â Hanamaki blurted, wrapping both arms around Tooru. The other two looked at Hanamaki in growing apprehension, Hajime mentaly swore he was never going to drink with these two again, as Tooru hugged Hanamaki back and nuzzled his shoulder like he was a cat himself.
âIwa-Chan, Iâm breaking up with you. Me and Makki are going to get married because youâre a butt head.â Tooru declared and Hanamaki blinked numbly before shrugging. Hajime cursed quietly, marrying Hanamaki mode active.
âCan we bring Mattsun too?â
âYes! We and Mattsun, Iwa-Chan, me and Mattsun and Makki are getting married⊠Youâre not invited! Because⊠BecauseâŠâ The words tangled on his tongue and Hajime sighed.
âBecause Iâm a butthead?â
âYes!â Tooru reached over and patted his cheek and Hajime glared at Matsukawa who shrugged at the turn of events. âWe are⊠broken up! I love Makki now and forevs⊠and Mattsun too, I guess.â
Mattsun twisted slightly in his seat at that and wrapped his large arms around both of them, head resting on Hanamakiâs shoulder. Hanamaki giggled and kissed him, only to break away and let out a snort laugh as Tooru planted a kiss on his cheek. Tooru brightened at the laugh and did it again, starting to giggle with him.
Hajime glared harder at Matsukawa who just stuck out his tongue and slid off the stool, holding a hand out to the other two. He gave a flourished bow and both of them dissolved into laughter, teasingly patting his hand and pretending to take it.
âWell now, my darlings, the time has come to head home, may I lead you to the car?â Matsukawa asked and Hajime had to give him props for managing to capture both of their attention at the same time.
Hanamaki nearly fell from his stool as he stood and tried to take Matsukawaâs hand. Matsukawa just stepped forward and held him steady, pressing a kiss to his forehead. Tooru gasped and pointed.
âHajime, did you steal Matsukawaâs move and use it on me?â Hajime debated informing him that he and Tooru had gotten together first so any moves Matsukawa was using, he had learned from them. Unfortunately, Tooru had already decided he was heart broken and turned away, stumbling off his seat and Matsukawa was quick to catch him before he tripped. Both of them were leaning against Matsukawaâs chest, trying not to sway and even he was starting to be affected by the weight of both of them.
That didnât stop him from teasingly stick his tongue out at Hajime as he gently guided both of them around to head toward the door. Hajime knew from experience if he didnât stop them, not only would he have to pick Tooru up from their apartment but also that Tooru would be upset that Hajime didnât have his back while he was inebriated. Hajime had long since given up the battle of explaining that Tooru was just as safe with those two as he was with Hajime himself. Tooru just got grumpy anytime he didnât wake up in Hajimeâs arms, which was flattering, but annoying when Hajime was too sober to not just follow Matsukawa and crash with them. Not even mentioning that Hajime was already lonely with Tooru gone, he wanted his best friend back to lay on in bed.
So now he had to find a way to get his boyfriend back. Then it hit him, the perfect way to get Tooru back.
âTooru!â He called, throwing a few bills on the counter and moving after them. He stopped as they exited the doors, Tooru turning to him curiously as he tried to get his phone back from Hanamaki. Matsukawa looked just as curious, if a bit smug that he hadnât managed to lose his boyfriend to his buddy. Hajime was going to kick him.
âI love you, Princess.â He said, holding his arms open. The effect was almost immediate. Tooru let go of Hanamaki and jumped into Hajimeâs arms, giggling when Hajime stumbled slightly before holding him, happily kissing him. His lips tasted like liquor and cherries and he kissed back.
âI love you too Iwa-Chan! Forever and ever and ever and ever.â Tooru declared, letting himself be lowered to the earth and hugging him tightly, happily cocooning his boyfriend. Hajime snorted and stroked his hair, rough fingers sliding through the soft brown curls.
âThought you loved Hanamaki forevs.â He teased, sticking his tongue out at Matsukawa when the accountant flipped him off. Tooru hummed and nodded but tightened his hold on Hajime.
âI do~ but Hajime is my heart! And my boyfriend and my bestest friend andâŠâ He paused as if considering something before he kissed Hajime again. âAnd Iâll always be Hajimeâs.â
Hajimeâs heart melted immediately and he kissed back, waving off Matsukawaâs taxi. They only lived around the corner, and Hajime didnât mind a little bit longer trip home if he could hold Tooru a while longer.
âHey Tooru?â He asked when they were close to home and Tooru was cuddled up against his side, half asleep as they waited for the final street sign to turn green. Tooru hummed and blinked blearily up at him.
âIf we get all the supplies, we can get a cat.â
âAnd name her Princess?â
âAnd name her Princess.â Hajime agreed, leading them home.
And One Aain
Tooru loved to surprise Hajime, but more than anything he enjoyed beating Hajime at his own game. Especially the one Hajime had been playing since he confessed. The one where Hajime did everything in his power to trick Tooru into thinking he was going to be an ass, and then said he loved him and destroyed Tooruâs ability to do anything but think about his stupid boyfriend. Or said he loved him first just so he could point and laugh about his bright red cheeks and Tooru was going destroy him now.
There was only one thing Tooru had left in his arsenal after years of dating, well, okay. There were two, but Hajime probably wouldnât be able to get off the ground laughing if he caught Tooru in tutu again and Tooru still had flashbacks to getting stuck in the damn thing even after nearly twenty years after the incident. So he had one thing left to do, one thing he knew he had to do before Hajime got the jump on him and made him cry.
He planned it for the one event he knew Hajime definitely wouldnât think about doing anything else, a celebration for the acceptance of Hajimeâs designs and employment at the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency.
Hajime had tried for years to finally get this and Tooru couldnât be more proud of him. Theyâd put nearly everything else on hold, even moving halfway across the country (and Tooru had the worst four hour commute to his team) so Hajime could apply for an internship and gain the experience he needed to come back to Tokyo and get his dream job. Tooru almost teased him about being more excited to get into space than he was, but decided it could wait a few more days.
Tooru and Hajime were both dressed up nicely. Hajime was in a soft navy blue tuxedo with a small purple lily tucked in his breast pocket and Tooru wound his arm around his waist. Without even thinking about it, he leaned down and nuzzled his cheek until he could whisper in his ear.
âDo you think Nishimoto would notice if I ate all the oysters before he could get to them?â He murmured, a proud smile growing as Hajime pressed his lips firmly together to quiet the laughter building in his chest.
âYouâre horrible.â Hajime murmured back, but Tooru could see the light in his eyes. They were bright under the stars, almost glowing amber and Tooru pressed a sloppily dramatic kiss to his cheek. Immediately the gorgeous eyes were narrowed with false annoyance and Tooru yelped as Hajimeâs hand dug under his suit jacket and grabbed his boxers, yanking them up into a wedgie.
âIwa-Chan!â He howled, shoving his boyfriend forward and hiding behind him as he fixed his pants. He kneed Hajimeâs ass, glaring at the tongue sticking out at him and focused on fixing his mint green jacket.
âWhat, idiotkawa?â He purred innocently and Tooru rolled his eyes, kicking out at him again until Hajime grabbed his arm and yanked him too close to kick. He reached out and snagged something before his hands were in Tooruâs hair.
âWhat? Iwa-chan! No, donât put bugs in my hai-â
âTooru,â Hajime said, his voice the silky loving way that made Tooruâs knees weak and his stubbornness melt away. âItâs not a bug, you wouldnât let me buy you a flower on the way in.â
He held up his phone, snapping a photo before Tooru could school his features into a less sappy look. Then he turned the phone around, showing Tooru the soft white petals of a gardenia that now were tucked carefully into Tooruâs brown locks. Hajime pulled the phone back before Tooru could snatch it and delete the compromising evidence of his own weak heart, and promptly saved it as his background erasing the previous picture of Princess splayed out on her back on their pillow.
Tooru almost cooed at how sweet his boyfriend was, but he was on a mission. He wrapped an arm around his waist and tugged him forward, pulling him towards the food table. Hajime went willingly, rolling his eyes at Tooruâs eyes narrowing on the food like a dogâs.
A flash of silver hair made Hajime spin, eyes trying to find them.
âDid that waiter look like Yahaba?â He asked curiously, looking over at Tooru. For a second, panic flared behind brown eyes before it was smothered with a cool neutral look. Tooru shrugged and turned to grab a plate.
âNow now, Iwa-chan, I know you miss our kohai but why would they be here of all places?â Tooru teased and Hajime narrowed his eyes on his boyfriend but this time he could have sworn he saw pink hair and he twisted.
âWas that Hanamaki?â Hajime asked, then glanced over at the muffled answer. Tooruâs cheeks were stuffed with milk bread and he looked genuinely curious. There was a moment where he fought the way his throat didnât want to swallow, then Tooru coughed and swallowed.
âWhat baby?â He tilted his head innocently and Hajime decided he probably was seeing things. He knew Yahaba had been taking odd jobs and he might have signed up for this event and didnât want to appear in front of his senpai, but there was no reason for Hanamaki to be here at all.
âForget about it.â He shook his head, grabbing his own plate and filling it up. The speeches and ceremony had already ended so now it was just a meet and greet between Hajimeâs new coworkers and the ones financing his plans being put into motion. Most of them had been heading home when Hajime had seen them earlier, but the event still seemed well packed and the catering service was bringing out fresh foods.
It wasnât a bad thing, but Hajime really wasnât sure when it was going to end and when he could go home. He really just wanted to lay on the couch with his boyfriend and his cat and watch some dumb drama that would leave Tooru gasping in surprise and unable to comment on his boyfriend studying his face.
Speaking of his boyfriend. Tooru was still stuffing his face, somehow managing to look decent and wonderful even after his eighth pastry. His eyes were alight almost unnaturally, dancing over the crowd as if dissecting each one of them. He leaned back, settling against Hajimeâs shoulder and leaned up to whisper in his ear, the sugary sweet scent on his breath making Hajime want to ban him from sweets.
âSheâs having an affair with the waitress.â Tooru whispered, and Hajime almost smacked him. Then the waitress came by again, a hand gently sliding over the womanâs waist as her husband turned away.
âNo.â Hajime gasped and Tooru grinned.
âOh yeah. And the husband is the one me and you walked in with that dancer, remember in Kyoto?â Tooru purred and Hajime looked away before he gave it away. He did remember the man and how much heâd begged Hajime and Tooru not to tell his wife. WellâŠ
âOh, this is the best.â Tooru giggled, leaning down to nuzzle at Hajimeâs cheek. âI havenât been surrounded in this much drama since I helped my Dad at his business parties. You have to take me to every event now, babe.â
âWho else am I going to take dumbass?âÂ
â.... Koushi.â Tooru said after a long moment and Hajime had to think it over before finally nodding.
âYes, okay, if you and Daichi were both working, I would take him with me. But only because you said I couldnât bring Kai.â
âBecause, he. Is. Beautiful. And. a. Good. Person. I canât compete with that, Iwa-chan. We both know Iâm a bitch.â Tooru said dramatically, blinking down at him like he couldn't believe Hajime had forgotten that very important aspect of their relationship. Hajime honestly couldnât believe that Tooru thought heâd want anyone else.
âYouâre a dumbass.â
âIwa-chan! Stop being mean!â Tooru yelped, tugging petulantly at his jacket as Hajime wrapped his arm around his shoulders and pulled his head down enough to kiss him.
âNever. Youâre stuck with me forever, dumbass.â Hajime murmured against his lips, almost breaking into a smile at the happy cheer Tooru let out before stealing another kiss.
âOh! Iwa-Chan, letâs go sit down.â Tooru said, bumping their hips together and almost losing Hajimeâs plate. Hajime turned to snap at him before catching sight of blonde and black hair behind Tooru. Kyoutani?
He was so distracted he didnât even notice Tooru pulling him along and putting their plates down at a table. Tooruâs hands were poking and prodding him but Hajime didnât notice, looking around and staring at the suddenly much thinner crowd. He could only recognize two or three people and they were heading to the parking lot, however the catering service was switching out plates with fresh food and they were lighting candles at the long table in the middle of the field.
Something was going on. Knowing Tooru, he might have decided to marry Tobio off against his will again. Hajime almost turned to ask Tooru, but there was another flash of bumblebee hair and he spun, eyes widening as he took in his old team. Their team.
Every single one of them. Matsukawa, Hanamaki, Yuda, Sawauchi, Shido, Watari, Yahaba, Kyoutani, Kindaichi, Kunimi. And they were holding a giant banner that read âTurn around, Ace.â
He turned but Tooru was missing. Until he looked down and saw his boyfriend on his knees. His breath caught as he stared down at his best friend, his partner, the love of his life before him.
Tooru gave him a smile, the real kind that set Hajimeâs heart on fire and made him want to kiss him senseless. Tooru was opening a velvet box, holding out a ring for him.
âIwaizumi Hajime. You are the beat in my heart, my best friend, youâve been my partner since the moment I was born. Every time I wake up with you is like a new promise of a lifetime together, a thousand lifetimes wouldnât be enough to show you how much I love you. But I do. I love you, Hajime and I want to spend the rest of our lives together showing you. I want to see your smiles, your frowns, I want to soothe your anger and drive your passion, I want to be the one you turn to always. Will you, Iwaizumi Hajime, do me the most amazing honor of marrying me?â
Hajimeâs mouth didnât work and his eyes were blurring with tears as he mumbled uselessly. All he could see were those eyes staring up at him with understanding and so much love. They were completely full of adoration and Hajime couldnât do anything but cry for a second. He pulled himself together and took a breath.
âOf course⊠Stand up, idiot.â Hajime managed to push out, waiting until Tooru managed to get the ring on his finger before he was tangling a hand in his hair and pulling him down into a kiss. He kissed him again and again, holding him as close as he could and laughing when he felt Tooruâs own tears of joy hit his face.
âIâm so glad you said yes,â Tooru said, kissing him softly. âShi-chan said he would beat you up if you said no.â
âNo I didnât!â Watariâs voice called and that was all the warning they had before they were being tackled by the team. Arms were everywhere and Hanamaki and Matsukawa were doing their damndest to kiss both of them. Yuda was openly sobbing into Shidoâs arms as he hugged Tooru and Hajime laughed, bright and loud. He didnât even try to stop as he took in his team.
They had grown up so well, from accountants to vets, they were making their dreams a reality. Yet, here they were, before him at one of the most amazing times of his life. His team and in many ways, his family. Even when they had pulled away, they would always come back together. His family.
He scooped up Kyoutani and Kindaichi, hugging them tightly even as Kindaichi squeaked and Kyoutani patted his arms. There was only a second before Hajimeâs arm was being forced away from Kyoutani and Watari was diving in for a hug too, laughing at Hanamakiâs loud insistence that it was his turn.Â
âActually! Heâs mine!â Tooru said above the din but Matsukawa and Sawauchi both tackled him to rub his hair and coo about the sweet proposal.
âAs fun as this is, Iâm hungry. Letâs eat.â Yahaba said once he and Kunimi had disentangled themselves from the pile. Kunimiâs gaze was soft and there was a smile on his lips and Hajime considered that a bigger win then Tooru managing to propose before him.
Hajime laughed, rubbing the top of Watariâs head as they started to stand. The team broke apart for a moment, hurrying to the buffet table and moving to sit at the long table. Tooru screamed for Watari to stop and nearly tackled him down before rubbing his head.
âFor good luck.â He explained, grinning when Hajime shoved him off the ex-libero.
âYou donât need luck, youâve got me.â Hajime said, grabbing his jacket and pulling him down into a kiss again.
âAnd youâre all I need.â

September 2019 Lucky Treat!
Well here we are guys, finally! As it turns out, I was supposed to get this on my birthday (the 15th) and it came, but at the time I was taking a nap because I was gone most of the day and I felt really tired when I got home. So they showed up around 6pm but nobody answered the door, and since I had to sign for it they left.
This isnât the first time this has happened, I somehow miss foreign packages I need to sign for <_< my mom and I argue over this every time, and as I expected it didnât come the next day. I wasted 2-3 hours stalking the front door and not leaving the room at all for anything. So yesterday morning we picked it up, but it just wasnât a good day to try to post this.
Itâs also the reason why my next review hasnât been posted but you can expect to see that later today. So for now, letâs focus on this!
As a reminder I wonât be reviewing these items due to them being sent for free. Iâll just be showing them and giving my opinions.
(Note the Kawaii Box Iâm supposed to review in the background...)
Okay, so as you can see this is exactly how it arrived. I initially assumed it would be one large box, so I was actually relieved to see it consisted of 2 medium-sized boxes. Both were light weight and easy to carry.
Japan Haul, for anyone unfamiliar with the name or new to the blog is the online store belonging to the branding that makes Tokyo Treat, YumeTwins, NMNL. You can find a lot of the box items, as well as some unique items on there, which is why I try to recommend you check it out if youâre ever interested in the items from those boxes. There wasnât any special papers or anything in the box, but each of them had an âorder summery sheetâ and a sheet of protective Styrofoam on the bottom.
Before I begin I wanted to mention that usually thereâs a âvalueâ depicted in the information or picture for the Lucky Treat, but this one didnât have it. On each box it says their values were 1000yen, so combined I think that might be $200.00? I donât know much about foreign currency so donât quote me on it.

Mew Plushie & Vulpix Plushie
Anyone who reads this blog knows that I am OBSESSED with Vulpix/Rokon- it was the reason I just had to have this box, and it hasnât left my side since I opened the one it was inside. It was true love from the day we met; I have various Vulpix items, including a smaller plush from a KFC promotion when I was a kid, a couple toy items, stickers, coloring book pages, and several TCG cards in both English and Japanese~
About a year or so back they were featuring Vulpix (normal and Alola) in Japanese merch. Iâve always wanted to visit Japan, but that was probably when I wanted it the most.
The plush is pretty big (although I know in comparison to the Mew it doesnât look it), itâs the perfect lap size~ Itâs also very soft, with fluffy material for the hair and tails that is a combination of rose swirls and tufts. The tails are one solid piece with lines between them to give them the feel of individual pieces, but the curled portions are separated. I love love love love love it~
--------
So as you can tell, Vulpix isnât the only plush we got in this months box :3 in fact we got a handful more to go- including this really big Mew Plush. Currently this is the second biggest Pokemon Plush I own, itâs a few inches taller than the piplup I won at the fair a few years back, but smaller than the Meowth I got when I was a kid.
This plush is made from the same fabric as the vulpix but lacks the fluffy hair accents. The sewn details are perfect, itâs feet are properly stuffed and a little floppy, while its super-long tail is sewn to the back, so I assume it would dangle if I cut the strings. Heâs great for hugs.
Flaaffy Plushie & Mini Eeevee Plushie
We got 2 more Pokemon plushies, including this very small Flaaffy plush~ Itâs like the Vulpix in which it has normal plush fabric, and slightly softer fabric for the wool on its neck and head. Itâs stitching and details are great, itâs a really good quality plushie.
According to its tag itâs part of a Pokemon Fit line. I never heard of it so I donât really know what it contains- but I think itâs adorable how out of the 4 Pokemon itâs normally the biggest, and here itâs the smallest. It fits in the palm perfectly.Â
------
Our final Pokemon plushie is an adorable, fluffy Eevee. I really like Eeevee and its eeveelutions, and I really liked playing Letâs Go Eeevee! so this was a lovely surprise; now if only I had some items to make it match mine~
Itâs well made and very cute and sweet looking, and according to the tag this came out last year- probably for Letâs Go Eeevee :P Itâs a big bigger than Flaaffy, but still fits in the palm nicely. I canât decide if I like its fluffy neck fur or huge tail more~
Kopiyo Friends Cushion
This is our last plush-based item in the box, an adorable cushion themed after an adorable birdie. From Kopiyo Friends there was a variety of various birds you could get in this set, but for Lucky Treat it was this specific... parakeet? It looks like the ones I used to have when I was little, so Iâve been calling it that.
Itâs a good size for a pillow (head, lap, legs, etc) and itâs stuffed enough to feel marshmallowy squishy, and it stretches a little bit. It was very comfortable, and it makes for a nice secondary pillow you can cuddle with.
Solgaleo Figure & Mewtwo Mug
If you guys couldnât tell this box was almost entirely Pokemon oriented :3 and to go with our plushies, we have a Solgaleo figurine from the latest handheld Pokemon games (until sword and shield comes out anyway). Itâs from the Moncolle-EX collection of Pokemon figures... and thatâs pretty much all I can say other than itâs paint quality is great. Iâm not sure about the figure quality itself because I wonât be removing it from the packaging. I might give it to my friend, who bought this version of the game.Â
-----
Now this next item goes with the Mew I got, and I think they were both made to celebrate the upgraded/updated Mewtwo Strikes Back movie. I know my picture quality of this sucks, but I was kind of on a time crunch at this point... and by that I mean, I had cats going crazy in the background trying to get in my way and play with the boxes <_<
The mug has a very detailed, mood-setting picture for the movie. I have to admit itâs not really my style (CUTIEcrates probably says it all right?), but I do like it as a Pokemon fan and Iâll find a use for it.
Gengar Mask & Pokemon Memo
Now this is an item perfect for this time of the year, as well as when I clean or when the allergies hit (where was it during summer when I needed it?!). I did have one mask from a really old DokiDoki, but I have no clue where that went.
I love Gengar (at this rate itâs easier just to say every Pokemon in this box are ones I like, nearly), so this is a cute, funny little item. Itâs a nice, padded mask with two layers of filtered-like fabric over the part covering your nose and/or mouth. Iâm not really sure if they serve a purpose (maybe filtering dust or scent or something?) but they have a nice clean smell.
----
We canât forget the stationery items now :3 and to go with all of our Pokemon goodness we have a notepad with 4 sets of 8 different designed papers! They easily tear apart and come from the Pokemon World Market series, featuring the various Pokemon from various regions hanging out and having fun.
Pokemon World Market Re-Ment & Colorful Ramune Blind Bag
Iâm assuming the Pokemon World Market is a current series/collection :3 because next we have an adorable re-ment set. I miss getting re-ments in the boxes, so this was very exciting. Like the notepad, these were based on various regions foods, Pokemon, and activities. Such as the one I got, the Kanto region, having a bike, a Poke Flute, and a Pokemon Doll. Each one also includes a map of the specific region.
If you were curious, here are what the others had:Â
2. Squirtle Watering can, toy, milk, manju/dorayaki?
3. Torchic, Rice cracker, Pokeblock storage, and what looks like an envelope and ticket.
4. Piplup, helmet, shovel, what looks like chocolate, and Poffins.
5. A Pokedoll, a ferris wheel toy, and ice cream.
6. Pokedoll, food, skates, and the girl trainers hat.
7. A book or magazine with Snorlax, a toucan measuring piece(?), a bowl or fruit in a box, and an Alola Exeggutor pen with base.
Now compared to the others, mine feels pretty simple. But the detail on each piece is amazing; I could look at re-ments all day~ I really wish I could display mine, but I just donât have a safe place or any room for them at the time. As much as I think a re-ment subscription box would be fun, Iâm kinda glad they donât have one of those :P Iâd be in trouble.
-------
Now, this is a Tokyo Treat special box, of course there has to be a couple food items~ and first up is a Pokemon, Wobbuffet bling bag candy tin, which features 6 different designs that feature Wobbuffet interacting with various Pokemon. Theyâre all so cute!
But lookie lookie, did you notice which one I got~? The special mystery one :D Iâm not sure if that was intentional or not, but I thought it was a fun additional surprise.
There are 3 flavors of candy, including a blue ramune/soda, yellow... I think lemon (but it could be banana? It doesnât taste like it though), and a pinkish-red one that I couldnât identify. It might be cola, because it tastes like a nasty cola Japanese candy DIY I tried a couple years back- one of the only cola flavors I didnât like. But the candies are pretty good, even that weird might be cola one.
Pokemon Nori Chips & Dragonball Super Candies
Given the few Non-Pokemon items in the box, I was surprised to see this Dragonball themed candy. These come in a tin-like piece similar to old-style Japanese fruity hard candy. Iâve seen them several times but never had them before- and let me tell you, itâs a picnic trying to open these! Youâll definitely want a pen or scissors or a cornered object or something, nails are not recommended though. But maybe mine are just wimpy. The good news is that you donât have to worry about them spilling.
Anyway, these are just cute orange spherical candies with a simple orange-ish flavoring to them. Itâs not overly sweet or tangy, so itâs good if you like a mild candy.
-----
To kick up the snacks, we also have some curry-flavored Nori Chips/Seaweed. They come in this adorable Pokemon tin featuring Pikachu and some other impressive pokemon, and the inside is lined by pleated paper. The tin is 71.0 calories.
The seaweed/nori is thin, but in 2 layers, with curry flavored powder/substance between them. If you donât like the taste of curry or seaweed you probably wonât like these, but if you do then you will. I actually really like eating seaweed as a snack, and curry is pretty yummy so I really like them x3 theyâre not spicy, but it seems to pick up heat the more you eat of them. Theyâre also very crunchy.
Pokemon Tote
We also have some fun apparel, including a Pokemon Tote by the brand Outdoor Products, which has been in business since 1973 apparently. It includes a rainbow variety of colorful Pokemon from a few different generations making a variety of poses. I think thereâs 2 per Pokemon. The bag also features a velcro strap to hold it shut, and itâs a medium-big size, so it would come in handy for a lot of stuff.
Pokemon Mini Bath Towel
To go with the Pokemon World Market collection, we also have this adorable and colorful mini-bath towel featuring all the different regions Pokemon having a fun time playing and checking things out at their respective hangouts x3
Despite the name, this thing couldnât be fit into a single picture without losing a lot of detail, so I had to settle for this. Itâs very soft fabric, Iâm very eager to begin using it because itâll go great with that set of Pokemon wash clothes I got a few months back.
------
Okay guys, that will be it for now! What did you think, was this Lucky Treat good? I really wish the other subscribers could have won this too because it was very fun and exciting- I still canât believe i won it!
However, I did notice an item is missing. There was also supposed to be a pair of Pokemon Socks that I didnât find in either box. I checked multiple times, and I couldnât find anything to say the item was removed from the box, so I donât know what happened. I messaged them about it, but because this was entirely free, I donât actually mind the mistake. It happens... of course, if it had been my Vulpix then heads would roll.
Just kidding :P Anyway, Iâll keep you guys updated on that. Until later, remember to hug a Pokemon!

Ways to Say I Love You
Pairing: Wonho x Reader Word count: 2,040
You arrived back home to your empty, spacious apartment that you shared with your love, Shin Hoseok. He wasnât home, but this was not new at all. You kicked off your shoes at the entrance and dragged yourself further into the small living room that had a stunning view onto the city. You walked over to the even smaller kitchen and put the groceries on the counter.
You decided to cook for Hoseok. You knew, he will arrive home late at night, but you wanted him to eat well. He was working extremely lot these days and you knew, if you didnât give him food, he might as well forget to eat at all. He always kept saying that you should eat well and healthily but sometimes he needed a reminder that he has to be healthy too. You made his favorite food, ramen, which always cheered him up and warmed the both of you up. You smiled to yourself knowing, that he would eat ramen at any given chance. Sometimes you even wondered if he likes you or the food more.
You cooked in the dim light as the sun was about to set, and the motorwayâs lights started to light up the bustling city. You hummed to yourself, the sweet scent of fresh vegetables already lingering around the room and soon conquering the whole apartment. The feeling of living together was still new to you, due to the fact that you were mostly alone. There were small pictures of you and Hoseok all over the house that always made you feel warmer but that couldnât be compared to the feeling of hearing his laughter or his warm arms wrapped around your torso to hold you securely. You softly smiled to yourself as the simple thought of Hoseok made you cheer up and make you feel warm.
He was the one whom you could always count on. He was the light of your life, the feeling you get when you open your first present on Christmas morning or the sweet welcoming embrace after returning to home. This is what Hoseok was, your home. That was why your apartment feels so distant from your heart. It wasnât your home without Hoseok.
You quickly glance over the corner of the counter where an Eevee plush with a Bunny plush is guarding your every move. Hoseok put them on the counter to take care of you while he is gone. He did this a lot. When he went on a tour he kept hiding notes everywhere around the house that you accidentally found when you were doing housework. You never deliberately looked for them, even if you guessed they were there. Hoseok handwrote them all and his cute handwriting always made you smile. Sometimes it were cheesy pickup lines, or some reassuring questions about your well-being or rarely, small I love you-s. You put all of these into a small box that you kept in your bedside drawer and, however, he could simply just reuse those notes for you to find, he always finds time to write new ones for you.
Hoseok was caring, but that was not enough to describe it. You know that if anything would have happened while he was on the other side of the world he would jump head first onto a plane to come back to you. You did everything in order to repay for the love that he gave to you. You cooked for him a lot, you texted him when he stayed too late and stayed up until he came home so that you can give him cuddles. Hoseok loved it. He loved all the small things you did for him, that you did not even notice. He loved when you fiddled with his hair while he laid his head on your lap after a tiring day while smoothly whispering about what happened with the two of you. He loved that you always listened, and stayed up with him when he was crying due to the piled up stress. You always let him to talk and never interrupted him, and as it was the normal behavior, you never thought how much it meant to Hoseok. But whatâs more, You meant everything to Hoseok.
As the water was boiling with the ingredients you reached out for your phone to call Hoseok, or at least to text him. You didnât want to bother him with your calls so you only send a quick text about how is he doing and when is he coming home. He almost instantly replied and his answer concerned you. He said that he is still working on a song that is not coming together, and you knew it was a warning sing. You just knew that Hoseok was having a difficult time so you instantly called him up. After two rings, he picked it up.
âHey?â He asked and his voice was clearly exhausted. You sighed sadly as you stirred the soup. The sweet scent and the sour sound of Hoseok gave you mixed feelings but he was your main priority, and you already felt sad.
âHow are you holding up?â You asked sweetly trying to smile but you were worried, that he is overworking himself, again.
âI amâ good.â He replied after a short pause and you know he was trying to hide it. It was already getting late, and today he left before dawn. You knew that he was far from okay.
âStay there, Iâm going to pick you up.â You replied without hesitation and he sighed softly not even trying to fight against you. He deep down understood that he needed a rest to get more inspiration but he felt like disappointing his fans if he does not continues working every second every day.
âOkayâŠâ He said and took a deep breath. âIâll be waiting for you but⊠be careful on the roads.â He said and you both hung up. The food was quickly done, and you turned down the stove and hurriedly slipped onto your slippers. You rushed out of the apartment towards your car. You did not want to miss a minute with Hoseok. You wanted to cheer him up or at least calm him down as soon as possible.
You quickly reach the studio, where Hoseok was working. Luckily you could rent an apartment fairly close to his workplace so he could come home and back whenever he wanted. You waited for him in the car while he got ready after your message. The streets were already lit up by the lamp posts and the people on the streets all started to scatter and leave the cold streets for the warmth of their homes. Hoseok quickly arrived and he slid onto the first seat planting a soft kiss on your cheek.
You looked at his tired eyes and the dark circles below it that he tried to hide with makeup but were slightly still visible. His lips were chapped and his whole posture was slouched. You took a deep breath and patted his thighs before quickly kissing his lips and then his nose. Then you turned on the carâs engine and drove back home.
âThank you.â He said quietly on the way home after a few minutes of calming silence when all you could hear was each otherâs breathing. You saw his tense body let loose a little and his eyelids already falling. That was the effect you had on Hoseok. You calmed him down like nothing else could. With you on his side he felt like everything was finally at place and in peace.
You drive home and help him up the stairs into your apartment. Finally, the apartment feels home. It feels welcoming and warm. It is more cheerful and more colorful. As if with Hoseok on your side, your world is complete. He fills up every missing piece in your life. He completes you and you complete him as cliche as it sounds, but this was the reality.
Hoseokâs eyes lit up as soon as the two of you enter. He keeps his head high and inhales the scent that has now completely filled the whole apartment. You sweetly smile up at him and nod with your head when he turns towards you with big eyes. He leaves you in the hall and rushes over to the kitchen in a heartbeat. You let out a small laughter before following him and catch him happily inspecting the pot on the stove.
âI made your favorite.â You say leaning on the doorframe of your kitchen then Hoseok turns around and envelopes you in a big hug sweetly planting small kisses on your neck that makes you shiver.
âI love you.â He whispers into your neck his warm breath sends shivers down your spine as you pull him closer into the embrace. âYou are so⊠warm.â He says sweetly burying his face further into the crook of your neck.
âI love you too.â You whisper too as if you were afraid to wake up someone. You never want to let go, but you eventually do when the growing hunger gets unbearable. You sit down across the tiny table to eat and you both share your day.
When you finish Hoseok tells you to stay seated as he does the dishes quickly. You walk over the living room and sit down to watch a movie together, that you havenât done in a while due to your jobs. Hoseok follows you a few minutes later and lays down on the couch with his head on your lap. You smile at him as he cuddles up to you like a small puppy and you stroke his hair. The movie starts but none of you really pay attention. Hoseok softly mumbles small things that he has forgotten to mention before during dinner.
He talks about Kihyunâs vocal that he sang today that will make his song perfect, or how Hyunwoo bought them all meat to eat during lunch and how nice it was from him. He also adds that he wants to be caring too and invite the members for lunch too. You tell him that he cares a lot and that the members knew how much he loves them. He continues on about how Changkyun tried to cheer him up today and said that he shouldnât work till late night and how bad he felt when he couldnât keep his promise. Or how Jooheon inspired him with the song but it is still not perfect and that he feels the pressure but Jooheon praised him and he was so happy. Or how he talked with Hyungwon in their studio before he left because he wanted to make sure Hoseok will be okay but they ended up talking for an hour. Or how much Minhyuk cheered him up with his jokes today too and how he always smiles and he knows, thanks to him, that everything will be fine. He says he is grateful for his members and he wants to stay by their side and support them too. You listen and try to make a small braid in his hair. His small confession cheers you up as you all thank to the members mentally that they are always there for Hoseok, when you canât be.
âBut⊠I am mostly grateful for you.â He says and you freeze for a second before he continues. âYou keep me sane on these insane nights. You call me up when I stay in late and take time to cook for me or to pick me up. You give me a lift and bring me up when I fall on the floor facedown. You save me every day and you donât even know⊠thank you.â He says and hugs your thighs closer to him. His soft confession turns into mumbling as his eyelids grew heavy and you smile down at his peaceful figure before saying:
âI love you too Hoseok, you donât even know how much⊠Iâll tell it to you tomorrow⊠for now: Good night.â You say leaning down to kiss his cheek and he is already fast asleep. You and Hoseok⊠you are probably what people would call soulmates.

Look what I bought today! Originally I wasnât going to buy her (I was only going to buy a small fluffy Eevee plush) but then I saw her and the store people were like someone bought Donald so now no one wants her and I was like D:
I donât know why anyone would buy Donald without Daisy but I knew I had to save her.
In other news, the store people tried to tell me that itâs a âclassicâ Daisy and I was like âhaha no itâs actually from the newest Mickey Mouse Shortsâ
âoh? but weâve had her for a long time now!â
âoh that would be because the Shorts premiered...in 2013....â
