Stories about ritualistically sacrificing someone every so many years so an old god can have a spouse always has me curious why they have to keep feeding old gods spouses. Is the old god unable to keep their spouse alive? Are they unhappy with the spouse and demanding new spouses? Do they all live and just share the same house somewhere? Infinite spouses in infinite rooms?

The same person over and over who keeps dying and being reborn.#And the old god keeps finding them.
