One: awsome art. Phenomenal. I adore it.
Two: watch me go a lil' insane over this episode.
Because, this was an early 2000's kids show so what it did was give us a funny, silly back and fourth between dannys hero personality and his lazy teenage boy one ampt up to 11. That was fun. We enjoyed that.
HOWEVER. It really could have been an opportunity to explore dannys' internal dialogue and thoughts on his situation. After all. This was a visual media. We don't have the luxury of the main characters' internal narration like in a book. An episode like this could have been the PERFECT setting to really get into how danny feels about all this.
His 'hero' half, diven by duty. The part of him that feels like he HAS to protect Amity bec this entire thing is his fault. The part of him with all his bravery, his courage, his kindness and selfless nature.
His 'cool' half. The teenage boy who doesn't see how any of this should be his problem. The part that's bitter about what happened to him. The part that's scared and scorned and wants to be selfish. The part of him that just wants to be a normal kid and feels robbed of it by something that wasn't his fault!
I know we somewhat got this, but it was overshadowed and masked by the insane amount of slapstick and tough-in-cheek humour. Makeing the two comedic caricatures of dannys different facets instead of actually giving voices to his conflicting mindsets.
I just think it would have been fascinating to get an actual, serious back and forth between the two as well as the silly push and pull they did through the episode.
identity crisis swap au where the ghost is fun Danny and the human is super danny
