I’m moving next week. Wednesday. Today was finally an Ikea day. Since we have to split the kitchen, I opted to get new stuff. He can keep the old ones. They’re brand name so it balances. I get new but Ikea, he gets old but Iittala and Arabia. Win-win imo.
I got these ink splotch plates that I think are pretty cool. They also had this blue stoneware looking dishware set that was sooooo pretty but the sizes of the plates and bowls were all wrong.
Only brand thing I really want is Fiskars because I’m so done having to sharpen new knives so we gotta find an outlet store that sells 2 grade quality cheaper. They’re basically valid to sell stuff except they might have some nicks on the handle plastic or something. Good but not perfectly pretty. Also, cheese... slicer? I know juustohöylä is not a thing in many countries so this thing
It slices cheese. You don’t need a steady knife hand, the slicer does it for you. It’s handy. It’s a normal, everyday thing here.

#design #interiordesign #dodatkizadom #serving #bowl #kastehelmi #iittala #iddoma #ostaniteradovedni (at id:doma) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEHCnqjF1C8/?igshid=1gdqmwgaw1b3k

Glass provides a rich field of exploration for Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. Its processes of manufacture and variety of possible texture, color, and opacity have inspired a range of objects and furniture that test the abilities of the skilled glassworkers involved in their production. The "Erkkeri" vase is handblown into steel molds by Iittala Glassworks, while "Fleur" references the iron rods used by these craftspeople, joined to a delicate blown-glass bowl.
Don't miss "Circus: Bouroullec Designs," now on view.

Shop - Mid century Iittala Festivo candlestick. Design by Timo Sarpaneva, signed to base £75 DM or comment sold to purchase Timo Sarpaneva originally designed the Festivo candle holder as a wine glass for himself. His goal was to be able to fit an entire bottle of wine into a single glass. The result was a rough surfaced, ice-like glass with the bowl and base sections blown separately. One day when noticing the base sections sitting on their own in the factory, they were inspired to turn them into candle holders-- and so the prototype of a new classic was born. In production since 1967, the Festivo series has become a true icon of the Finnish home Timo Tapani Sarpaneva (31 October 1926 – 6 October 2006) was an influential Finnish designer, sculptor, and educator best known in the art world for innovative work in glass, which often merged attributes of display art objects with utilitarian designations. While glass remained his most commonly addressed medium, he worked with metal, wood, textiles, and porcelain. Sarpaneva has entered homes around the world through his industrial design of upscale, artistically conceived items, including cast-iron cookware and porcelain dinnerware. His work was among the key components that helped to launch Finland's reputation as a trailblazer of design . . . .
