@booklindworm replied: Oh so that's what you mean by "a canon". You don't mean "a canon" as in a collection of published works, but "a collection called canon by Disney". Please, in the future, consider that there are people with a different understanding of the word. I do know that the Disney canons and also the movie canons don't include Gray Jedi, but honestly, it's not correct to say no canon does. The tOR canon - including not just SWtOR but also KotOR and KotOR II and a series of books
[Part II] and comics is also a canon, even if it's not one that you'd like to recognize.
It is more than just canon I don't want to recognize as you say. I admit I never finished all paths of tor (the gameplay wasn't for me, but i keep meaning to finish watching a play through because I liked the story) and it has been years since I played kotor (like middle school lol). But, as far as I remember, even in tor and kotor canon, grey jedi just don't exist? If this is wrong, please give me screenshots because I would like to see it (honestly!) But afaik, there is exactly 1 use of the term in The Stark Hyperspace War comic, it described Qui-Gon, and even then it is very vague and could mean anything honestly. Here is another awesome post about grey jedi and why Qui-Gon isn't one.
There are characters who are not quite jedi, but I don't recall any referring to themselves, or being called by others, grey jedi. In researching to see if I missed something I found Jolee Bindo from kotor who says he sees things "only in gray" but that is not the same as him saying he is a "grey jedi". Apparently he even says he is not a jedi at all? "I'm neither a Jedi or your master."
And no offense, but this was a vague vent post on my own blog with no searchable tags. It need not be all inclusive to everyone's understanding of the word canon. I love discussing my blorbos with people but this tagless post was not intended to be an all exclusive analysis. I don't expect this post to be seen by anyone but my very small number of followers. But yes, you are right, in the future, when making posts I intend to be seen by a lot of people, like my meta posts, I will endeavor to be specific.
I hate grey jedi as a concept, but that would be fine. People are allowed to have headcanons I don't like and write fics/art with them. That is whatever.
But when these fans insist that grey jedi are canon. That annoys me so much.
