I think when it comes to relapses it really depends for me. Mainly because yes, i get it shows how a character can fall and still get back up again type of deal and learn from it, but if it’s something like really serious (depending on the subject matter) then you’re gonna have to convince me why this character wants to get better and how they’re going to try their damn hardest to make sure they don’t fall again (if that makes sense).

I guess this can correlate with the whole therapy speech thing too. If you’re told to something once, you’re obviously not going to be perfect at whatever it was you weren’t before. It takes time and practice, and yeah the character could fail from time to time, but as long as the characters actually learns from it and makes actual effort to take steps forward, than that’s more believable than they instantly become the “perfect” character or something.

Idk that’s my opinion on those two topics, they make or break a fic for me.

Btw for people who don't know what squicks are: 'Squicks' are just personal preferences that someone doesn't like. Nothing wrong with em it's just not your vibe. (Exp: Like how all my friends HATE tomatoes but I am tomato eater forever)

anyway long ramble list:

Can't read big blocks of text without breaks very well, and I dislike when characters (esp main characters that are talking in every chapter/scene) have bolded or italicized dialogue. I think it's fine for special reoccurring characters but it genuinely messes up with reading flow for me when it comes to taking in information if used too much

If I'm reading a fic specifically for a monogamous romantic paring, I don't care for the 'past lover interest reappears' trope or one of them currently has one, or the love triangle that results in one of them being like 'oh but i love them both i can't possibly choose!' *cough twilight cough* it just makes the relationship feel disgenuine and icky. zero stars. Any mention of a character's past relationship usually makes me just click out, just personally not here for that

-^^^ to go with this, big fan of the 'misunderstanding where someone thinks there's a love rivelry but the third person never had a chance.' Like to the main pairing there's only eyes for each other and that's all they care about, there's just some third person who's there and causing problems (either because someone in the pairing is jealous of the third person thinking they're gonna steal the other when it's not, or the third person thinks they're a love rival when in reality they're not even thought about) *cough Tyren cough*. I think there's a lotta comedy to have with this. Bonus points if it brings main pairing closer together

When characters have linear character development and recovery. I prefer my characters to realistically relapse and bit a little bit of a hypocrite as they develop from start of story to end. Failing and falling short and again makes the final result much more satisfying when they're healing

When characters use 'therapy speak' or otherwise react perfectly 'acceptable' to stressful situations. Again, I prefer realistic depictions of characters under stress, and work out becoming better under that stress rather than just One Big Thing Happen and suddenly they're never going to react negatively or lash out again because another character told them It Was Bad and To find Better Coping Mechanisms.

Unhappy endings. (Or open ended ones) Sorry for hurt/no comfort lovers but none of my fics will have unhappy endings. I like my stories to have people that go through absolute hell and still come out on the otherside

The ace in me doesn't care for fics where physical attraction is a large part of the ingredients that gets the pairing together. Not saying they can't admire each other when the sunlight hits them or wearing a nice outfit but just not a fan of reading about how 'sexy' a character is to another. Probably why I usually blast all my characters with the aspec beam

So who’s Penelope’s spouse? How did they meet? What is their relationship like?

When Penelope first met Ulysses, I like to think it was during their teens or something, the croc having been rescued from Anchordeep during one of the Lamb’s crusades. Ulysses was already an orphan before heretics raided his village, but he still lost friends he knew and cared for, but there’s not much he can do now. So to keep busy, he helps with the cult’s farm work, and when he’s a bit older, he starts going on missionaries.

I think it’s at this point Penelope starts noticing the gentle giant, especially since he usually hangs out with her Uncle Leshy in the fields. After some pushing from her siblings, the two of them end up becoming friends first before actually getting into a relationship of sorts. It’s like a crush -> friends -> lovers type of deal ya know? Very sweet, nothing angsty gonna happen whatsoever :]

Anyways, thank you sm for being so interested in the shitten lore, it’s so fun drawing them and brainstorming any new ideas for them!

Okay so, as mentioned before, Penelope is the youngest out of her siblings:

Eldest - Scylla:

Works as the head enforcer of the cult, changing enforcer from simply making sure people were loyal to the cause to protecting the cult from any heretics that possibly find their way into the campground and wish to seek harm. This was implemented by the first enforcer Gremar, who was Scylla’s teacher, and Heket (she just seems like the type who would definitely do that, despite her being the ex-diety of Famine).

The responsibility of keeping the Cult and her family safe weighs heavily on Scylla’s shoulders. Especially when you’re at war with another cult who just so happens to have one of the crowns that went missing.

Middle - Thanatos:

Works as the Undertaker of the Cult, but he would tap into medicine (and possibly learn more about science, fascinating over things that have yet to have been solved). His mentor was probably Kallamar In this sense, since he’d probably be the cults medic around this time. Thanatos also deals with harvesting the corpses whenever they are needed for rituals.

Death isn’t uncommon, especially if you’re the son of its Deity. However, ever since the Lamb’s ascension, there hasn’t been a resurrection since Penelope became Preistess. The morgue has started getting fuller than usual.

Youngest - Penelope

Penelope is the Priestess of the Cult, being appointed after the Lamb’s ascension and leaving the cult to Death’s domain (which imma start referring to as the underworld). This position was previously taken by Narinder as head Priest, but when the Lamb left, he followed. She often tries connecting to the Underworld, to try talking to them again, but her prayers have yet to be answered. But she knows they still watch over them, via rituals, so there is some semblance of hope she’ll be able to make contact.

But that needs to wait, for now Penelope needs to catch the new crown bearer up to speed, and help them however possible. Though it is a bit harder when the due date is near.

If you're lamb is so plauged by guilt, why did they kill Narinder in the frst place?

Okay so, i'm probably going to do my thoughts injustice because I'm terrible at explaining things but here we go.

I think the whole reason they killed Narinder was out of anger and betrayal, after believing that their bond at that point meant something more than just vessel and patron. It doesn’t help that Narinder kinda knew about their feelings towards him (since the lamb is an open book) and leaned a bit into that idea just to get better results outta them.

Now as to why the Lamb brings him back is more out of longing(?) for before. But even when Narinder’s revived, it actually makes the situation kinda worse due to the hurt and anger they both have against the other. It’s not too long until they have to separate (somewhat willingly) for a period of time to actually calm tf down and gather their thoughts before they finally reunite again and are able to be civil with each other.

That’s all I’ll say since I want to explore it more with comics I have planned and currently writing atm. Anyways, I know I’m very confusing when it comes to this AU but I hope this helps! :]
