Looking through my insurance plan and in tears with how they handle infertility vs abortion.
Your payment
Abortion $0
Diagnosis and treatment of cause of infertility 15%
Tubal litigation, IUD, injectable contraceptive $0
IUI 50% limited to 6 procedures per lifetime
IVF 50%, limited to two procedures per lifetime
Abortion is unlimited.
Even pregnancy and maternal care isn't at a $0 dollar rate it's at 15% and mind you I have one of the best insurances and they are still restrictive on fertility treatments.

Oh, Kris.
Requiescat in pacem to your inbox. Lux perpetua luceat eis. I need to read chapter 1 again because all I could really focus on last night was that fs/n anon was going to absolutely lose their shit and I was sorry I couldn't see it happen in real-time. :D On the IVF thing... even though I know that, in addition to fanfic medicine and fanfic family law, HC probably has fanfic health insurance rules but I can verify that IVF in the UK is covered by the National Health Service for eligible people. Depending on the rules of the NHS integrated care board where you live, the NHS will cover between 1-3 cycles of IVF (I know people who actually moved because their local NHC ICB only covered a single cycle).
In Jade's case, she wouldn't qualify for IVF coverage under the NHS unless she'd gone through six cycles of artificial insemination and six cycles of intrauterine insemination* without conceiving, which can run into the thousands of pounds per cycle. Or she received a diagnosis that she would not be able to conceive without assistance... which would be kind of bad, since most of the reasons a 25-year-old would be automatically referred for IVF are not things I'd wish on Jade. (*The requirement for IUI was repealed in 2022.)
That said, for people who conceive, even with the [expletive]-[deleted] Tories gutting healthcare funding over the past 15 years, pregnancy care in the UK is still free through the NHS. Even private healthcare for pregnant and birthing people costs about a third as much in the UK compared to the U.S.
All of which to say, assuming Jade qualified for NHS care (by having UK citizenship, for example), it's not implausible that she would look at costs of having a kid in the UK vs the US and decide to go for it.
That said... I do find it a bit weird that Jade went from one co-dependent relationship to being a mom in the space of two years. Not that I'm suggesting that there might be other reasons someone decides to have kids almost immediately after breaking up with their partner and moving to another country... I just find it interesting that in one chapter, we see Jade being both extremely frustrated and upset with constantly feeling responsible for Kit and... *checks notes* mother to a toddler.
Huh.
RIP to my inbox is right! (i love it though)
This is all SUPER interesting re: the NHS system.
As for Jade's moving from one co-dependent relationship to being a mom in the space of two years...yeah, that will come back. that will be addressed. don't worry.

IVF vs. IUI: Which Fertility Treatment Is Right for You?
Trying to start a family can be one of the most exciting as well as challenging experiences in life. Couples might face a lot of difficulties when trying to conceive.
If you are one among those facing challenges, you must have heard about two popular fertility treatments: In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intrauterine Insemination (IUI). Understanding the differences between these treatments can help you make the right choice for your situation.
What Is IUI?
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), also known as artificial insemination. It involves placing sperm directly into a woman's uterus to improve the chances of fertilization. For fertilization, the sperm  is naturally passed  through the cervix and into the fallopian tubes.
How IUI Works
The initial step in IUI involves monitoring the woman’s menstrual cycle which helps in determining the best time for insemination. This can be done with the help of blood tests.
The sperm is collected from the male partner or a sperm donor. Then the healthiest sperm is separated from the rest using laboratory processing.
The doctor places the sperm directly into the uterus using a thin, flexible tube called a catheter.
When Is IUI Recommended?
IUI may be recommended in situations, including:
If the specific cause of infertility cannot be identified.
When there are minor issues with the sperm, such lower motility or count.
Success Rates of IUI
The success rates of IUI vary depending on several factors, including the woman’s age, the cause of infertility, and how many cycles of IUI have been attempted. The success rate of IUI will decrease with age:
Age 20–30: 17.6%
Age 31–35: 13.3%
Age 36–38: 13.4%
Age 39–40: 10.6%
Over 40: 5.4%
What Is IVF?
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a complex procedure where it involves retrieving eggs from a woman’s ovaries and fertilizing them with sperm in a laboratory. The fertilized eggs called the embryos are then placed back into the uterus.
How IVF Works
The first step is stimulating the ovaries that will help to produce multiple eggs. It can be done by using hormonal medications. Monitoring regularly through blood tests will help track the development of the eggs.
The eggs are retrieved once they are ready using a minor surgical procedure. A thin needle is guided through the vagina into the ovaries to collect the eggs.
The mature eggs are combined with sperm usually using a technique called ICSI, where sperm is injected into the egg to create embryos.
As the fertilized eggs grow into embryos, they are observed and the healthiest among them are chosen for transfer after a few days.
The selected embryos are then transferred into the uterus using a catheter. If successful, one or more embryos will implant in the uterine lining, leading to pregnancy.
When Is IVF Recommended?
IVF may be recommended for:
When there are significant issues with sperm.
If there exists damage or blockage to the fallopian tubes.
Severe cases of endometriosis can affect fertility.
Women over 35 years may have a lower chance of conceiving naturally.
If a woman has experienced multiple miscarriages.
Success Rates of IVF
The success rates of IVF can vary widely based on age, the reason for infertility, and the quality of the eggs and sperm. Generally, the success rates vary from 30-50% per cycle for women under 35, decreasing with age.
Make the Right Choice
The choice between IUI and IVF is influenced by a number of factors, such as:
Firstly, understanding the cause of infertility is important.
Younger women may benefit more from IUI, while older women may need IVF for better success rates.
IVF can be more expensive when compared to IUI, so budget may play a role.
Consulting With a Fertility Specialist
To figure out which treatment works best for you it is advised to contact a fertility specialist. They will help by conducting tests, explaining the possibilities, and guiding you through the benefits and drawbacks that are associated with every type of treatment. It is important to ask questions and express any concerns you may have. Having an excellent understanding will increase your confidence in your choice.
Both IUI and IVF offer hope to couples facing infertility. While IUI is less invasive and may be suitable for some, IVF provides a more comprehensive approach for those with specific fertility challenges. Understanding the differences, success rates, and recommendations can help you make an informed choice about which fertility treatment is right for you.
Remember that every journey is different, so it's critical to work closely with a medical professional to determine the ideal plan of action for you as you approach motherhood.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) vs In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): Key Differences Explained
Tumblr media
Introduction: For couples facing infertility, assisted reproductive technologies provide hope in their journey to parenthood. Among the most widely used treatments are Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). While both aim to enhance the chances of conception, they vary greatly in terms of method, complexity, and success rates. In this post, we’ll delve into the key differences between IUI and IVF to help you make informed decisions about the best fertility treatment for your needs, whether you're seeking the best IVF treatment hospital in India or affordable IUI treatment options.
Understanding Intrauterine Insemination (IUI):
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a less invasive fertility procedure where prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus, enhancing the likelihood of fertilization. The process involves collecting sperm from the male partner or a donor, which is then inserted into the uterus using a thin catheter during the woman’s ovulation window. This option is widely available at leading fertility centers, including those recognized for offering the best IUI treatment in India.
Key Points about IUI:
Minimally Invasive: IUI is a straightforward procedure compared to IVF, with fewer interventions.
Precise Timing Required: The procedure is done during ovulation to maximize fertilization chances.
Best for Certain Conditions: IUI is typically recommended for couples dealing with unexplained infertility, mild male infertility, or cervical issues.
Understanding In Vitro Fertilization (IVF):
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a more advanced and complex fertility treatment. It involves stimulating the ovaries to produce multiple eggs, retrieving these eggs, and fertilizing them with sperm outside the body in a laboratory. The fertilized embryos are then cultured and transferred back into the uterus. Many international patients travel to receive the best IVF treatment in India, where IVF success rates are competitive on a global scale.
Key Points about IVF:
Higher Success Rates: IVF often provides better outcomes, particularly for severe infertility cases such as blocked fallopian tubes or advanced maternal age.
Customizable Options: IVF allows for genetic testing, the use of donor eggs or sperm, and embryo freezing, offering flexibility for patients.
More Invasive and Costly: The procedure involves several steps, including hormone therapy, egg retrieval surgery, and embryo transfer, making it more expensive than IUI. However, IVF treatment cost in India is often more affordable than in other countries, attracting international patients.
Comparing IUI and IVF:
Success Rates: IVF is generally more successful than IUI, especially for complex fertility cases.
Cost Consideration: IUI is more affordable, while IVF treatment costs in India offer an attractive option for those seeking high-quality yet cost-effective fertility solutions.
Invasiveness: IUI is less invasive, appealing to couples seeking a simpler approach.
Customization and Flexibility: IVF provides a wider range of options, from genetic screening to frozen embryos, making it ideal for tailored fertility plans.
Conclusion:
Both Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) offer hopeful solutions for couples pursuing their dream of parenthood. Whether you're exploring IUI as a minimally invasive, cost-effective option or seeking advanced IVF treatments for complex fertility challenges, choosing the right treatment depends on factors like infertility causes, success rates, and budget. If you're looking for the best fertility hospital or considering the best IVF treatment hospital in India, it’s crucial to consult a fertility specialist who can guide you through these options, ensuring that your treatment journey aligns with your personal and financial needs. Embrace the possibilities and start your journey toward building your family today.

IUI vs. IVF in India: A Detailed Guide to Fertility Treatment Options
Introduction
Infertility affects a large number of couples in India, but advancements in assisted reproductive technologies (ART) offer renewed hope. Two of the most common fertility treatments are Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF). Both methods have helped countless individuals and couples achieve their dream of parenthood. This comprehensive guide compares IUI and IVF in India, outlining the key factors to consider when choosing the most suitable fertility treatment.
Understanding IUI in India
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a relatively simple and less invasive procedure. In IUI, prepared sperm (either from a partner or a donor) is inserted directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. The process aims to increase the chances of sperm reaching and fertilising an egg.
Key Aspects of IUI in India:
Less invasive: The procedure is minimally painful and does not require anaesthesia.
Affordability: IUI is a more cost-effective option, typically ranging between ₹10,000 and ₹20,000 per cycle.
Short procedure: It is a quick process, lasting around 15-30 minutes.
Donor sperm options: IUI can use either the partner’s or donor sperm.
Success rates: IUI has a success rate of approximately 10-20% per cycle, which depends on factors such as the woman’s age, sperm quality, and overall reproductive health.
Understanding IVF in India
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) involves a more complex process, where an egg is fertilised outside the body in a lab, and the resulting embryo is transferred to the uterus. IVF is generally recommended when IUI or other fertility treatments have failed or if there are specific fertility issues, such as blocked fallopian tubes or severe male infertility.
Key Aspects of IVF in India:
More invasive: IVF requires hormonal stimulation, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer, making it a more involved procedure.
Cost considerations: IVF is more expensive, with prices ranging between ₹1.5 lakhs and ₹2.5 lakhs per cycle.
Procedure duration: The entire IVF process takes around 4-6 weeks, including ovarian stimulation and monitoring.
Higher success rates: IVF offers higher success rates of 40-50% per cycle, depending on age, egg quality, and other factors.
Multiple options: IVF can include Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) or Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) to improve outcomes for specific infertility issues.

IVF vs. IUI: What's the Difference and Which Is Right For You?
In theory, trying to have a baby is simple: you find a partner, have unprotected PIV sex for a few months, and get pregnant. In reality, the process can be a lot more complicated for some people. You might have a same-sex partner, for instance. You or your partner might have a condition that affects your fertility, like polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS. Or you might be one of the roughly 12 to 15 percent of couples that experience infertility, defined as not being able to get pregnant after a year of trying. These are all reasons your doctor might mention IVF or IUI. These are both methods of reproductive assistance. In other words, they're meant to make it easier for you or your partner to get pregnant. They do that by placing sperm directly into the uterus (IUI) or by using sperm to fertilize an egg outside the body then inserting that fertilized egg directly into the uterus (IVF). They both have pros and cons, and a doctor can walk you through what makes the most sense for you and your unique situation. But making decisions about reproductive health can be stressful and confusing, so we asked a few experts what you need to know about these two popular options for people trying to conceive. --- Experts Featured in This Article: Jane Frederick, MD, is a reproductive endocrinologist and the medical director at HRC Fertility in Orange County, CA. Adrienne Neithardt, MD, is a reproductive endocrinologist at Boston IVF. Iris Insogna, MD, is a fertility expert at Columbia University Fertility Center. --- What Is IUI? IUI is an acronym for "intrauterine insemination." With this medical procedure, healthy sperm is placed in your uterus as close to the time of ovulation as possible, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Sperm can come from your partner or a donor. Having sperm placed directly in your uterus at or near ovulation (which can be determined through tests such as an ovulation predictor kit, or OPK) already increases the chances of conceiving. But doctors can take additional measures to make conception even more likely. "Many times, I add a medication called Clomid to make sure ovulation will occur," says Jane Frederick, MD, a reproductive endocrinologist and the medical director at HRC Fertility in Orange County, CA. Clomid works by increasing levels of the hormones that make eggs mature, causing ovulation. "It allows me to time the cycle," Dr. Frederick says. With IUI, "it's like having more horses at the gate," Dr. Frederick says. There's also a technique called "sperm washing," where individual, healthy, motile sperms are isolated from the semen before being used for IUI, in the hopes of further increasing the chances of fertilization. What Is IVF? IVF, which stands for "in vitro fertilization," is a little more complicated. It's done in cycles, per ACOG, that can include: * Obtaining an egg. Patients are usually given medication called gonadotropins to trigger ovulation and produce several eggs. Once the eggs are ready, they're removed from the ovaries with a needle. * Fertilization of eggs. The sperm can be added to the eggs in a lab, or a single sperm can be injected into each egg. * Embryo transfer. A few days after fertilization, one or more embryos is placed in the uterus through the vagina. Any healthy embryos that aren't transferred can be frozen and stored for future use. IVF is primarily done for women with infertility caused by damaged or blocked fallopian tubes, severe endometriosis, or other unexplained fertility issues, per ACOG. IUI Pros and Cons IUI is "less involved and less invasive than IVF," says Iris Insogna, MD, a fertility expert at Columbia University Fertility Center. Plus, if you're struggling to conceive, a lot of times your insurance will dictate that you need to try a certain number of cycles of IUI before you can move on to IVF, says Adrienne Neithardt, MD, a reproductive endocrinologist at Boston IVF.… https://www.popsugar.com/family/ivf-vs-iui-48947404?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr

IVF vs IUI Success Rates: Understanding Your Options
In the realm of fertility treatments, two commonly discussed procedures are Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). These options often come up when couples are exploring ways to achieve pregnancy. However, understanding the success rates of IVF versus IUI can be crucial in making an informed decision about which treatment is best suited for your needs. This blog post delves into the intricacies of these two fertility treatments, comparing their success rates and discussing factors that influence the outcomes.

Understanding IUI and IVF
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) involves placing sperm directly into a woman’s uterus around the time of ovulation. This process increases the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes, thereby enhancing the chances of fertilization. IUI is often combined with ovulation-inducing medications to stimulate the ovaries to produce more eggs.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), on the other hand, is a more complex procedure. It involves stimulating the ovaries to produce multiple eggs, retrieving these eggs from the ovaries, fertilizing them with sperm in a laboratory, and then transferring the resulting embryos into the uterus. IVF allows for greater control over the fertilization process and offers additional options like genetic testing of embryos and freezing embryos for future use.
Comparing Success Rates
When comparing IVF vs IUI success rates, it’s essential to consider several factors, including age, underlying fertility issues, and the specific protocols used. However, on a general level, IVF tends to have higher success rates compared to IUI.
Success Rates of IUI
IUI is often recommended as a first-line treatment for unexplained infertility, mild male factor infertility, or mild endometriosis. The success rates for IUI can vary, but they generally range from 10% to 20% per cycle. The chances of success can be influenced by:
Age: Women under 35 generally have higher success rates compared to those over 35.
Sperm Quality: The concentration and motility of sperm used in the procedure can impact the success rates.
Cause of Infertility: The underlying reason for infertility plays a significant role. For instance, couples with unexplained infertility may experience lower success rates compared to those with mild male factor infertility.
Success Rates of IVF
IVF is typically recommended for couples with more complex fertility issues, such as blocked fallopian tubes, severe male factor infertility, or those who have not succeeded with IUI. The success rates for IVF are higher than IUI, generally ranging from 40% to 60% per cycle for women under 35. However, these rates can decline with age:
Women Under 35: The success rate can be as high as 40% to 60%.
Women Aged 35-37: The success rate generally drops to around 30% to 40%.
Women Aged 38-40: Success rates are typically around 20% to 30%.
Women Over 40: The success rate decreases to around 10% to 20%.
Several factors can influence IVF success rates, including the quality of the embryos, the woman’s ovarian reserve, and any underlying health conditions.
This data is based on the internet but we offer the success rates in IUI 88% and in IVF 93%. Infact, our fertility doctors have 100% success rate in IVF and no IVF failed case was ever seen.
youtube
Factors Influencing Success Rates
Age: One of the most critical factors in determining the success of both IUI and IVF is the age of the woman. Younger women typically have higher success rates due to better egg quality and quantity.
Cause of Infertility: The underlying cause of infertility plays a significant role in treatment outcomes. For example, severe male factor infertility or tubal factor infertility may necessitate IVF for higher chances of success.
Treatment Protocols: The specific protocols used during treatment, such as the type of ovulation-inducing medications, the timing of insemination or embryo transfer, and the laboratory techniques used, can all impact success rates.
Lifestyle Factors: Lifestyle choices, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, diet, and stress levels, can also influence the success of fertility treatments. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential for optimizing outcomes.
Choosing Between IUI and IVF
Deciding between IUI and IVF can be challenging and depends on individual circumstances. Here are some considerations:
Cost: IUI is generally less expensive than IVF, making it a more accessible option for many couples. However, the lower success rates may mean multipleIUI cycles are needed, potentially increasing the overall cost.
Complexity and Invasiveness: IUI is a less invasive procedure compared to IVF, which involves more complex steps like egg retrieval and embryo transfer. Some couples may prefer to start with a less invasive approach like IUI.
Time: For couples who have been trying to conceive for an extended period or are facing age-related fertility decline, IVF may offer a faster route to pregnancy.
Success Rates: Given the higher success rates of IVF, couples with more significant fertility challenges may opt for this treatment for a better chance of achieving pregnancy.
Personal and Medical Considerations: Personal preferences, medical history, and the advice of a fertility specialist are crucial in making this decision. A thorough evaluation and discussion with a fertility expert can help couples choose the best path forward.

IVF vs IUI: Know Which One Is Better For Your Condition?
Interestingly, doctors usually suggest two common fertility procedures: IVF vs IUI. IVF stands for In Vitro Fertilization and IUI refers to Intrauterine Insemination. When choosing the best-assisted reproduction method, couples frequently find themselves at a critical point in their relationship and struggling with a decision. There are a plethora of options when it comes to dealing with reproductive challenges, and a significant portion of the population is still unaware of these options. People should make sure they fully comprehend the differences between these two processes to decide which is the best course of action for their particular situation.
IVF vs IUI – Important Things You Should Know
Tumblr media
To know the difference between IVF vs IUI, let’s start with IVF. Within the context of assisted reproductive technologies, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is a painstakingly planned process that involves removing or retrieving a woman’s eggs using a thin needle. These eggs then go through fertilization, joining sperm in a lab environment. After that, if the resulting embryo is found to be viable, it is carefully monitored before being carefully inserted into the woman’s uterus.
In the myths of IVF vs IUI, the methods used in intrauterine insemination (IUI), commonly known as artificial insemination, differ. IUI does not require the harvesting of a woman’s eggs, in contrast to IVF. Rather, the procedure comprises carefully cleaning the sperm of the male partner before inserting it into the uterus to fertilize it. After fertilization, the sperm travels via the cervix and up into the fallopian tubes by nature.
Pros and Cons of IVF vs IUI
Compared to IUI vs  IVF, IVF is thought to be a more dependable and effective procedure. IVF is a more recommended treatment because it increases women’s chances of conceiving more definitely.
The need for eggs is one of the main distinctions between IVF vs IUI processes. Fertilization occurs with just one or two eggs produced by the woman during the IUI technique. On the other hand, women must generate numerous mature eggs for the IVF process to be effective.
Medication that stimulates egg development and triggers ovulation is used to achieve this. None of the 10–15 viable eggs recovered may become pregnant, and in certain situations, more than one pregnancy may occur.
To improve the success rate of both IVF vs IUI surgeries, fertility medications must be taken. The minimal negative effects that these hormone treatments may cause are transient.
There are fewer stages involved in IUI because it is a less expensive and invasive technique. Before pursuing IVF, doctors typically advise a few rounds of IUI if all other parameters are within normal ranges. If IUI therapy doesn’t work, doctors advise couples to try IVF.
For women who do not experience regular ovulation, IUI may be beneficial. Men who have somewhat impaired sperm quality may also benefit from it as it increases the likelihood of fertilization. While PCOD, endometriosis, premature ovarian failure, blocked fallopian tubes, and other conditions that prohibit a natural conception can be treated with IVF, IVF treatment is also a popular choice among infertile couples who want to conceive a healthy child.
Transferring just one embryo lowers the possibility of numerous pregnancies through in vitro fertilization. The remaining embryos can be frozen and utilized at a later time. Premature births are not at risk with IUI, however after IVF treatment, low birth weight and premature birth are somewhat more likely.
