The Pain Before (Niragi x Reader) Part Ten
Part Nine, Series Masterlist, Part Eleven
The sun illuminated your room, the light spilling out through the window. Niragi woke to see your face, still peacefully resting. He was taken in by the way your hair fell in front of your face as your body slowly rose and fell in with your breath. He couldn't help himself as his hand rose from his side and swept a strand of hair from your face, pushing it back behind your ear carefully. It was almost as if you were home. You always knew you weren't welcome in the house of your family, but for the first time, it felt as if you had a home to come back to. A home to wake up to, a place where you could relax; free of judgment and wild accusations. His eyes fixated on yours as they fluttered open in a daze. "Oh... You're still here," your voice was as soft as a whisper, as gentle as a lovers would be. Niragi watched as the corner of your lips turned into a smile, and even the most powerful force in the world couldn't silence his thoughts. 'So beautiful, the way you wake up next to me...' You could've sworn you were awake, but the serenity you felt in the moment was enough to convince you otherwise. Your eyes wandered his face for what felt like forever, going over the little details you never noticed. He did look just like he did back then when he was like this; his hair fell so naturally around his face. His lips parted so gently and closed like the words he would've said wouldn't have been enough. You were so taken in you almost hadn't noticed his hand resting on your cheek, his thumb gently caressing your face. Niragi was normally a man of his word, although most of his words were more threats than promises. He'd kill who he said he'd kill, torment whoever he liked, and fucked whenever he wanted. The thoughts from the night prior crept toward him slowly, 'I can be that again tomorrow,' his thoughts echoed. 'That,' the self he had worked so hard on. His life in the other world wasn't what he wanted. It was rather lonely, he recalled. But here, he had made a name for himself. People were scared when they heard his name. He told you before, not to expect him to be there when you woke. Yet here he was, his mind focused on you entirely. With you, he felt his heart beat more rapidly than he would care to like. He could feel his expression soften as he lay by your side; waking up next to you was quite the feeling, indeed. He found himself unable to leave you when he woke first, your head still nuzzled into him. Your hand had crept its way into his shirt from the middle, forcing him to undo a few buttons in the early hours of the morning. Part of him screamed at him from the inside. He was being reckless, careless, even. 'This will be the end of me,' he thought. Yet his eyes kept pacing back and forth between yours in the morning light, his body couldn't help itself as it eyed his shirt still covering you under the sheets. He lifted your chin ever so slightly as your lips parted, barely being able to utter his name. All you felt was the warmth of his lips on yours, his hand reaching to cradle your neck into him. You couldn't help but fall into him, a pleasant hum running past your lips at the welcome surprise. Now, you were near certain you were still dreaming. Niragi could feel every muscle in his body aching, his other hand wandering over your shoulder, running down your arm, careful of the fresh bruises from the night prior. 'These bruises should be from me,' he thought. 'I should be the only one who gets to touch her, ever,' his lips began to push with more force, his tongue pressing through to meet with yours. He could hear the soft hums from you, his body aching to respond to them in its own way. His entire body froze the instant he heard the knock on the door, the last voice he wanted to hear echoing through past the door. 'That fucking snake,' he thought as his mind was clouded over in an instant with anger. Niragi can't remember the last time he got up so quickly, practically running to the door, his breath rising from his chest, he threw open the door.
Chishiya stared at him in silence, taking note of his appearance. His shirt was half open, no shoes, hair was untidy. He leaned to look past Niragi, his eyes catching you still in bed, Niragi's shirt barely covering your body. "The hell do you want?" Chishiya's eyes snapped back to Niragi, an unfamiliar feeling swelling in his stomach. "(Y/N)." Niragi could feel his mouth twitch in disgust as the blonde spoke, his eyes staring daggers. "She's busy," he closed the door before Chishiya could protest. Every time he saw that man, he got angrier and angrier. He turned around to see you fully sitting up, clutching his shirt around you. You were holding a hand to your lower lip, tracing over the heat that lingered. He sighed watching, walking over and sitting on the edge of the bed, pulling his shoes on. "How're the bruises?" You had barely noticed yourself until he spoke, finally taking a moment to look down at your body. "Oh... Th-they're fine, just a little sore..." You couldn't help but try and subdue the heat in your cheeks, the realization hitting you. 'Did we... Did Niragi kiss me?' You thought, wanting to ask. You watched in silence as he suddenly stood up, his back to you. "Good." Your breath hitched as you took in his demeanor; this was not the Niragi from moments ago. His voice held no concern when he spoke to you, "Try a little harder not to get killed." He didn't hesitate as he spun the door open, nearly slamming it behind him. The temperature in the room dropped almost immediately, shivers going up your arms. You looked around hurriedly ignoring the uneasiness you felt in your gut, looking for any clothes that weren't completely crusted with blood. Your feet stung hitting the cold floor, the cuts in your heels still fresh from the night prior. Your attention turned to the door as you heard a familiar knock followed by the door opening. "Sooooo, Kuina told me to come and get--" Chishiya stopped and stared at you for a moment, his words seemingly caught in his throat. His footsteps broke the silence as he came towards you, pulling his hands from his pockets. "(Y/N)... Are you alright?"
Chishiya waited for your reply as he searched your face, fighting his own concern. "Y-yeah, I'm fine... Why, what's up?" Your voice was soft in the morning, he noted. He lifted his hand up to your face and brushed your cheek, holding out his fingers for you to see. The wet tears glistened on his hand, making you bring your hand to your own face as well to wipe it, unaware you were crying. "O-oh, yeah... Sorry, I guess that would be concerning," Chishiya stared at you as you feigned a laugh, trying to shift the conversation. He thought on his words for a moment, catching you unable to look back at him. "... Did he hurt you?" Your head snapped up, "Huh?" Chishiya gestured and rose his brows to your dominant arm, particularly covered in bruises and small cuts that rose to your shoulder blade. "Oh, those... No, Niragi didn't hurt me. My game last night was..." you swallowed the rising saliva, feeling your stomach turn with unease. "Rough." Chishiya nodded slowly, unsure if he was going to believe you today. "Huh... Well, regardless, I wanted to..." He hovered over his words a bit more than usual today, watching you closely for any particular reaction. "Check on you. I tried to stop by earlier. You were busy." You could feel embarrassment creep up on your cheeks, "About that..." He took a step back and raised his hands in protest, "You don't have to defend yourself to me." You could see the corners of his mouth rise a bit as he spoke, "You can do whatever you want here, remember? I would go with someone a little less... Homicidal, personally." You watched his lips form a partial smirk, "But hey, everyone has a type I guess." You wanted to say he was wrong, that he didn't know what he was talking about. But you knew you couldn't. If Chishiya would ever be under a label, it would simply say "I'm right." "It wasn't... It's not like that," was the best thing you could say in your own defense. He nodded slowly, pursing his lips out, "Of course." He shoved a hand back into his pocket, "You know, if you don't get those taken care of, they'll get infected." You looked at your arm again, turning it over to get a better look. "Ann would yell at me if I went to her for something as little as this." You sighed, dropping your arm to your side. Chishiya quickly took a step towards you and grabbed your arm before you knew what was happening. He examined it carefully, gingerly going over even the smallest of cuts. His hand was a bit cold, but you couldn't help but feel like they had a care in the way they moved across your arm. "Regardless of size, even the smallest cut could be the death of you, depending on the one doing the cutting." You tilted your head in curiosity, looking at his eyes as they wandered over your arm. "Chishiya," he stopped his hand and glanced up at you as you said his name. "Sometimes you can say some weird stuff." You smiled and let out a small laugh, seeing his demeanor change into a rather confident one. "Everyone else is the weird one, I'm the only sane person here." He laughed with you for a brief moment, his eyes catching yours for a moment. "Stop by later. I'll help you deal with the cuts." You nodded and smiled, silently thanking him. If it wasn't for Chishiya and Kuina, you would actually be dead by now, certainly. Chishiya lowered your arm back to your side and took a few steps back, putting his other hand in his pocket. "Ah, before I go," he unzipped his hoodie and took it off, watching as you hid your face. Most of the men here were already shirtless, but it still razzled you to see someone who would normally be covered be bare like he was. He couldn't help but hide his smile as he took slow steps toward you. "You look like you need some new clothes." He raised his hand to touch the collar of what was Niragi's shirt, "These aren't really suitable. Rules are rules, you know. Hoodies, on the other hand," he stopped for a moment and licked his lips slowly, "Are perfectly acceptable. Just so you know." Chishiya grabbed your hand and held it out, placing his hoodie and enclosing your hand around it. "Just for now. Wouldn't want you breaking the rules. I'll have Kuina get you something." You swallowed your pride and looked up to see him looking at you intently. "Um, t-thanks I guess..." The corner of his lips rose just for a moment, "Be seeing you then." He took a few steps backward, eyes still studying you for a moment before he turned and left, gently closing the door behind him.
You couldn't help but sit on the ground where you stood, a leg outstretched. 'Why does everyone keep giving me their clothes?' You looked at the white hoodie in your hands, sighing to yourself as you closed your eyes. This morning, you were lying in bed with Niragi practically making out in your bed. Not even moments after, he got cold after Chishiya showed up at your door. They made each other near furious, one was just a lot better at hiding it. You laid your head back on the cold hard floor and stared at the ceiling. Last night, Niragi was taking care of you; bathing the dried blood off you, watching over you as you slept, holding you when you were cold. Then the moment is gone, and he's back to being cold like when you first arrived. You looked down at the hoodie still in your hands, its owner wandering into your mind. Chishiya didn't threaten you to wear it. He must have his reasons for giving it to you besides the obvious; he always had something else going on in the back of his mind. The only way to tell was by asking so that only left you with one rational course of action. You closed your eyes again, not caring you were still on the floor. You shut your brain down the best you could before taking a deep breath, hoisting yourself up from off the floorboards. You glanced in the bathroom, only seeing the bathing suit that was still coated in hardened blood by this point. You debated in your mind for a moment before finally settling. Tonight, you would go see Chishiya. But for now, Kuina's kindness was reaching out for you from the floor below.
Kuina dragged you to the bar, ignoring your protests over the blaring noise. "C'mon, it'll be fun!" She was careful to not grab you too tightly around your arm, but she dragged you along with her nonetheless. The lights were almost blinding, reflecting off the pool in various directions. "Here, try this one!" She handed you a small glass with red liquid inside, "What is it?" You questioned, Kuina clinking your plastic glasses together without answering. "Something fun!" You gave her a questioning look before taking a deep breath, "God, it's been a while." You hyped yourself and Kuina being there definitely helped as you both knocked back the sweet liquid in an instant. You could feel the gentle warmth go down easily as Kuina piped up, "Cherry bomb!" You tilted your head before she gestured to her cup, "You asked what it was!" You were surprised she would actually answer you. It wasn't long before you and Kuina delved more into the party at the Beach. It had genuinely been so long since you were able to have fun, you admittedly got a bit carried away with her. You were glad Kuina was a fruity drink person, it was another thing you had in common. As the night rolled on you found yourself and Kuina at the edge of the pool, a drink in hand and your body swayed gently with the music. Kuina's voice was still raised and she spoke over the music, "Sooooo, (Y/N), I noticed Chishiya left you with a preseeent!" She giggled over herself as you focused on her, "Nooo, it's not like that! People just keep throwing clothes at me!" You both laughed loudly, drawing some mild attention from those in the pool. It didn't take long for their attention to be drawn elsewhere thankfully. You tried not to hiccup through your next words as you spoke, "Chi.. Chishiya said that-- that shirts weren't allowed," you waved your hand in the air as you explained, "So--so he gave me his hood thing until you got me clothes!" Kuina covered her mouth as she laughed loudly at you, "Hood thing?! Oh, sweet, naive (Y/N), you really are a treasure!" The world seemed to spin around you and you tried harder to focus on your friend. "Ku-Kuina, I think... I think I've had a bit too much to drink." She continued to laugh as she watched your body sway harder, wrapping her arm around you. "Don't worry (Y/N), I'll get you back safely!" You grinned as she stood, tugging you up with her by the waist. "You're-- you're a good friend, Kuina!" The music poured on as the two of you made your way slowly into the lobby of the Beach, Kuina taking the first steps and helping you along. As you began to walk up the stairs, the lobby started to spin a bit more than usual. You could feel Kuina's hand around you tighten as your body began to slip from her, "Woah, careful!" You could hear your laugh echo throughout the halls, your mind blissfully unaware of the eyes peering at your back.
Chishiya sighed heavily at the knock at his door. He stood, walking over lazily and opening the door just a crack to peer through, "Yes?" He held his breath as he caught your body from hitting the floor, "What on Earth..." He could hear you laughing faintly before hoisting you up and leaning you against the wall in his room, his eyes scanning the hallway for people. "(Y/N), are you drunk?" You erupted with laughter as your eyes began to barely focus, "Chiii-shiii-yaaa!" He sighed to himself, "So, that's a yes. Come here." He gently grabbed you by the arm, attempting to lead you to the bathroom before he had to turn around and catch you from falling once again. "How much did you have to drink?" Your mind could barely form a response, "I... Kuina, and I, we had, like--" He cut you off as he lifted you up in his arms, surprising you. Just by looking, he didn't seem the type to be able to pick up a person. "If you were out with Kuina, then probably too much." He pushed open the bathroom door and sat you by the toilet, lifting the seat cover as you rested your head against the tub. "Just in case." You smiled drunkenly, "Awwww, you're so sweet!" You had a short-lived laugh as you felt your stomach start to turn, closing your eyes. "Oh, boy..." You reached out and grabbed the edge of the toilet, just in case. You opened your eyes as the light turned on, squinting as Chishiya held out his fist. "Take these. They'll help later." You did your best to steady yourself as you cupped your hands, Chishiya dropping three white capsule pills in your hands. You popped them in your mouth and swallowed, making a face at their plastic taste. "Ew..." He laughed while looking at you, "You're supposed to take them with water," as he held out a bottle. You hiccuped as you took it carefully, noticing the top was already off, "Oh... Yeah, that makes sense." You giggled to yourself as you brought it to your lips, the water refreshingly running down your throat. Chishiya sat down next to you, grabbing your free arm and bringing it to his lap. You were taken by surprise and tried to pull it back when he stopped you, "Careful. The disinfectant might sting a bit, okay?" You noticed he had a cotton ball in his hand, a clear liquid already absorbed into it. "Ohhh, okaaay." Your words were getting harder to say as your eyes started to fail you. The feeling didn't last long as you felt a sting on your arm, ushering your eyes open to be alert. Chishiya brought his hand back, studying your face carefully. "I told you." You both sat in silence for a while as he went back to carefully dabbing the open cuts on your arm, even after a day that still stung. Once your thoughts began to form a bit clearer, you spoke, "Chishiya," he stopped and glanced up at you, still holding onto your arm tenderly. "If I ask you a question, will you be honest?" He took his hand and placed it over his heart and clutched it, "You say that as if I lie." You licked your lips as you thought about your question. Even if you asked it, there's no guarantee you'll get an answer you'd like. "Are... Are you using me?" It was only for a moment that his expression changed, but you noticed it clear as day. He pursed his lips out as if he was thinking, "And if I was? What would I be using you for, hmm?" You opened your mouth, but nothing came out. He smirked at your reaction, swapping out the cotton ball for a new one. "I don't know." He looked up at you briefly before turning your arm over to aid the back, "That's what worries me..." You could feel his hand stop at your words and rest on your back. He placed your arm in your lap, his fingers lingering on your skin as he let go. Chishiya grabbed your chin gently and pulled your face towards him so he could look at you. "What if I just enjoy your company?" You stared at him for a moment, wanting to choose your next words carefully. You shook your head slowly, "I think... You only come around when Niragi is near. It's like... You're always playing a game, even when others aren't." Chishiya didn't seem displeased with this answer as he responded, "And tell me," he turned himself so he was sitting directly across from you, his hands now resting in his lap. "Where is Niragi now?" You shook your head, "I don't know." He raised his eyebrows in response, "I see. So, I'm here, and Niragi isn't, correct?" You nodded and paused, 'Why did I tell him that?' you thought. Chishiya noticed your hesitation and spoke first, "I do owe you an apology, (Y/N)." You looked at him curiously, "What for?" He sighed and grabbed your hand in his own, pulling out your arm gently and resting two of his fingers on your wrist. "Technically, I didn't lie to you. That part is important." You began to pull your arm away cautiously, "What do you mean, 'technically?' What did you do?" He promptly ignored your questions, following up with his own. "Do you feel sick? Any nausea, dizziness?" "No," you answered without a second thought. 'Wait, why don't I feel dizzy? I had so much to drink...' Your mind flashed back to the pills Chishiya gave you just minutes ago. "W-what did you do?" You asked louder, causing him to look at you fully. "I gave you some medicine. Scopolamine, to be exact. Nothing too special, not really a hangover medicine, more of an after-surgery medication that would reduce the saliva your produce. There are some parts of the world, however," he paused for a moment to let you absorb the information, "They say if you use it on someone not fully aware, they give information a lot easier. Some people call it, 'dragon's breath.'" Your eyes grew wide as you pulled yourself away from him, your back hitting the tub. "Y-you... You drugged me?!" Chishiya sighed to himself for a brief moment before standing up, his body leaning against the doorway, blocking it. "I didn't force you to take them. I merely offered. It's not lying, think of it as... Withholding the full truth." Standing up hurriedly, your body would've collapsed from itself if Chishiya hadn't caught you. "Woah, you might not feel drunk, but you still are. Be more careful." You could feel your heart quicken under him, your panic starting to rise. "Why? Why would you do this?" He held you upright and grabbed both your shoulders in an attempt to steady you, "It's not personal (Y/N)," his expression softened when he saw the panic in your eyes. "But for some reason, I can't read you." Your eyes furrowed in confusion as you watched his mind race. It wasn't easy to see, a normally composed man suddenly unsure of himself. "I can read every single person here. Most of them, exactly the same as the next," he licked his lips, continuing, "But with you, (Y/N)... Whenever I think about it, I can't seem to think rationally. It's incredibly bothersome." You tried to take a step back but couldn't, Chishiya's hands pulling you more toward him whenever you tried to push away. "If it makes you feel better, you probably won't remember this conversation tomorrow. Just," he seemed to lose himself for just a moment as he closed his eyes, thinking. "Trust me. I needed to know you're intentions." "My intentions? I had no intentions! My intention was to survive this fucking place and go home!" You could feel tears spill out of your eyes as you yelled, your voice cracking throughout. You began to sniffle, your body was still drunk indeed. "I-- I thought you were my friend!"
His arms dropped to his side as he let you push past him, nearly tripping as you ran into the hallway. He listened as your footsteps pounded away on the floor, all the way down to your room. He contemplated following you for a moment, stopping himself as he closed the door in front of him. Once again, you left his mind unable to react in the way he needed it to. The only thoughts he could muster were simple ones of regret, 'Shit.'

No but like
Real world Niragi would totally wait until marriage if that’s what you wanted cuz he loves and respects you too much to push you into anything you don’t want.
Even if you have intense make out sessions and get kinda hot and heavy, if he feels it’s getting too far he’ll just smile and be like “I’m at my limit, this is good for now.”
He’d 100% be the type to ask if it’s okay to touch you somewhere before he does, and his hands will shake completely as he does so until he builds enough confidence.
(for fem/trans readers)
If you let him do under the shirt stuff he’d completely struggle with your bra and just pretend like it’s okay if you keep it on cuz he can still touch you like this.
The man can solve difficult software issues but doesn’t know how a bra clip works.
100% would nearly have a heart attack on your wedding night if he sees you in lingerie.
This dude probably has asthma and would hyperventilate.
His heart would literally break at how beautiful you are and how this perfect being could have possibly chosen him to love.

hiya there! i love your work and i was wondering if i could request a Chishiya fic where its 3 times the reader almost kisses him and the one time he kisses them OR 3 times they almost confess their feelings and the one time Chishiya confesses his feelings. its up to you! :D
Thanks for you request! Here you go! 😉
Interrupted Confessions | Shuntaro Chishiya
{Alice In Borderland Masterlist}
{Main Masterlist}
Character(s): Chishiya (ft. Niragi, middle-aged woman from the second game, OC, Aguni, militants)
Summary: You and Chishiya keep trying to confess your feelings for one another, but something always seems to come between you when you finally get the chance
Warnings: drinking (reader), violence, mention of dying/death, guns, gunshots, panicking, mild angst
Word Count: 2.5k
*reader is gender-neutral
Chishiya wasn’t the best at expressing his emotions, especially when it came to romantic feelings. He appeared so confident and smug most of the time, but if someone was to even give him a bouquet of flowers or wink in his direction, his sarcastic remarks become caught in his throat and he doesn’t know how to react.
He could tell that you held romantic emotions for him. He was a people watcher, so he knows how people act when they feel that way. For ages, he tried to ignore the fact that you liked him, but as time pressed on and he began noticing you a lot more during games and at The Beach, he could slowly feel himself develop feelings for you back.
He knew he had to tell you soon enough, but every time he tried to open up to you, the world just didn’t allow him to have the chance.
************
1st Attempt
The first attempt Chishiya had at trying to express his interest in you was at The Beach.
It was a usual late night, everyone dancing and singing on the big patio of the hotel, allowing themselves to indulge in the delusional thoughts of being safe and sound, not having to worry about their lives for the time that the alcohol infected their hearts and minds.
You had had a few drinks, beginning to feel a little light headed yourself. You had dragged Chishiya down to the bar with you, convincing him to keep you company due to not being able to find Kuina or Usagi. Chishiya gladly went along, wanting to make sure you didn’t over do it and end up getting yourself hurt.
You sat on a stool at the bar, leaning on the wooden bench and staring down into your empty cocktail glass. Chishiya leant on the bar next to you, scanning the crowd of rowdy and social people. It was entertaining, watching people being drunken idiots.
He glanced over to you as you placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Chishiya,” you mumbled. “Have a shot. I feel bad for being the only one ordering. You’re making me look like an alcoholic.” You nudged a small glass filled to the brim with liquor in his direction, trying to encourage him to drink it.
Chishiya smirked as you looked at him pleadingly. He lifted his hand out of his white hoodie pocket and pet your head playfully. “No thanks Y/N. A matter of fact, I think you’ve had quite a bit.”
He could tell the intoxicating alcohol was beginning to get to you as he saw your eyes begin to gloss over. Your movements became a little more lazy and disorientated.
You pouted and looked into his piercing eyes that filled with the unfamiliar feeling of care and concern for you. “Just one more cocktail? We haven’t even been down here for long and you already want to leave,” you groaned, turning back to the bar to shout for the bartender.
Chishiya rolled his eyes and chuckled at you. You were lucky he liked you. If anyone else was to act the way you did around him, they would irritate him like no tomorrow.
Around half an hour later, Chishiya and you were strolling up the stairs to the roof, wanting to escape the chaotic ground level that pounded heavily as the bass in each song seemed to become more and more powerful, beginning to make your head hurt.
Chishiya and you giggled together as you tripped up the stairs slightly, being able to catch yourself before you face planted. Chishiya held a firm grip on your shoulders, making sure you don’t end up hurting yourself.
“You’re such a lil’ goose,” he laughed, turning his head towards you with a wide smile across his face, showing off his cute teeth. You smacked his cheek lightly, being embarrassed from his intense stare, considering how close his lips were to yours. “Shut up, you’re no better when you’re drunk. Last time you drank, I had to drag your ass up all these stairs like a baby. And you’re much heavier than you look.”
Chishiya laughed, and in a moment of bravery, he lifted a hand and gently stroked his knuckles across your face. Your skin was hot and soft under his touch, making him feel warm inside and gaze lovingly at you.
Silence took over the atmosphere, and you both stood still in the hallway together and stared into each other’s eyes. You weren’t sure if it was the alcohol talking, but the warm lights made Chishiya’s skin glow beautifully, and you didn’t think he had ever looked so gorgeous.
“Y/N,” he whispered. “Can I do something?” His heart was pounding so loudly, he was afraid you would be able to hear it through his chest. Why was he suddenly feeling brave?
You smirked and cocked your head to the side, pretending to not understand what he wanted. “And what would that be?” you questioned in a playful tone.
Chishiya took his arm off your shoulder and placed it against your other cheek, holding your face delicately in his hands so he could keep you looking at him. “This.”
Just as Chishiya was slowly leaning in to crash his lips onto yours, you both suddenly heard a deafening bang down the hall. The sound made you both quickly jump apart in fright, snapping your heads to see what caused the noise.
There stood none other than Niragi, having just kicked a young woman into the wall across from the room they came from.
“Locking doors I see? What exactly do you have to hide?!”
Chishiya and you stood completely still as you watched Niragi stride over to the woman and grip a fist full of her hair, pulling her up and making her scream in pain.
“Y/N, come on,” Chishiya said quietly next to you, sounding rushed.
You looked at him confused. “What? We can’t just leave her,” you said, stumbling after him as he dragged you by your wrist, trying to pull you away from the scene.
“It’s not our business. She went against the rules, we can’t defend her.”
That wasn’t true. He could easily take on Niragi to help the girl, and so could have you. But considering your state at the moment, and Chishiya’s main concern being your safety around Niragi, he just wanted to leave to get you safe again.
Your safety was more important than a small kiss or saving a girl who broke the rules.
*************
2nd Attempt
Chishiya’s second attempt to admit his romantic feelings towards you occurred at a game together.
The game was held in an apartment complex. Luckily, you two had managed to be put into the same group, meaning you could work together to survive. Two militants from The Beach also joined you, one of them being Aguni. Chishiya and you knew you wouldn’t receive any help from them, so you decided to just stick to you two for this one.
The game was a five of spades. The players had to find a safe zone to turn off a bomb within the time limit without getting killed by the ‘Tagger’.
As soon as the game began, you suggested to Chishiya to go to the top level, as you would be able to get a good view from there and be able to determine the Tagger’s patterns and habits to take note when searching for the unlocked door.
You both stood at the end of the top floor, having a clear view of the many levels and seeing all the players scattered in different positions.
You felt your heart sink as you saw a middle aged lady with a handbag on one of the middle levels. She was alone, looking around confused. It made you guilty that you couldn’t do anything to help her.
“As usual,” you heard Chishiya mumble beside you. You glanced at him and saw him scanning the players before continuing. “Everyone looks like they’re about to die.”
You blinked at his statement, looking back over the edge of the concrete railing. The vast sea of darkness that became darker the further it was away from the game made you feel empty. It purely just appeared like a black hole, waiting to suck you back into it’s depressive atmosphere.
“Sounds about right,” you responded to Chishiya.
Chishiya turned his head towards you, feeling his white locks become tangled together from the wispy wind. He examined your features as you stared over the area, admiring the way your skin glowed in the fluorescent lights. He looked down to your legs, hearing your shoe lightly tap anxiously on the ground.
He slid closer to you on the railing, placing a soft hand on your thigh to still your shaking leg and placed his chin on your shoulder before speaking softly. “Don’t be scared, I’ll protect you.”
You turned your head slowly towards him, seeing your lips only inches apart once again. You scoffed and rolled your eyes. “As if I need protection,” you teased.
Chishiya huffed, hiding his face in your hair in fear of you seeing the blush creeping onto his cheeks. You smiled at his movements. “You’re a bit clingy today, aren’t you?”
From that comment, Chishiya pulled his head back and looked into your eyes. His emotions were bouncing around his mind, making his heart beat quickly in confusion. Why couldn’t he just say it? Either of you could die at any time, why was he wasting time?
A piercing sound filled the air, and you gripped the back of Chishiya’s hoodie to roughly pull him to the harsh ground. Your reflexes went into overdrive as the gunshots rang. You glanced towards the hall on your right, in fear of seeing the tagger there. But luckily he wasn’t.
“Y/N, look.”
You looked towards Chishiya to see him standing over the railing again. You scrambled to your feet and stood beside him, following his line of sight.
A door a few levels down had several bullet holes around the sides of it. The tagger had tried to shoot someone there from a different level.
“He hasn’t done that yet. He’s trying to protect it,” Chishiya theorized. You nodded and pushed off the railing. “Come on, we don’t have much time left.”
You both quickly entered the lift and selected the floor the damaged door was on.
As you both stood in silence, Chishiya’s words that almost poured out of his mouth before still rang in his ears.
‘I’m clingy because you make me feel safe.’
When will he ever have the chance again to tell you that?
He promised himself that if you both survived that game, he would confess to you before your next game. Because who knows what the game makers would make you do next? For all he knew, it could get you killed, and he would never be able to get to tell you how he feels.
************ 3rd Attempt
Surprisingly, Chishiya wasn’t the one to confess his feelings first. You were able to bring enough courage together to say it to him, but it wasn’t under the best circumstances.
He always envisioned his confession to you as being sweet and loving. He dreamed of telling you how he felt underneath the stairs on the roof, like a cliché romance movie.
But he didn’t get that chance.
You and him were huddled together in the corner of a trashed room. Chishiya held you tightly against his chest, patting your head to try and ease your rapidly beating heart and nervous breaths.
“Shh,” he whispered, his voice shaking slightly. “It’s okay. This’ll be over soon, and we can leave. We can find somewhere else to go.”
Gunshots rang outside the door of the room you were hidden in. Chishiya felt you flinch at every bang, making his heart sink lower and lower. He hated not being able to comfort you, it made him feel sick almost.
The Beach had become a game arena. Aguni has demanded the militants to kill everyone on sight so he could find the witch the hard way. As soon as Niragi had yelled and shot several bullets to the ceiling, sending everyone into a sudden panic, Chishiya didn’t even give you time to think before grabbing your arm and dragging you hurryingly away from the lobby to hide from the militants.
So there you were, trying to make yourselves as small as possible behind a turned over table in the corner of a pitch black hotel room. Chishiya thought it was best not to hide in his room or your room because the militants would look there first to find you.
Chishiya lifted his face from the top of your head to glance towards the door. He sobbed slightly in fear as he saw shadows through the small crack at the bottom of the door. People were running back and forth through the halls screeching for help, trying to escape the murderous militants.
He felt you wrap your hand around his upper back and tuck your face into his neck, causing your tears to make his sensitive skin wet, not that he really cared.
He sighed heavily, trying to relax into your touch. It was deemed impossible to be calm, but having you there with him brought him more relief than anything else could’ve in that moment.
Chishiya placed his cheek on your head, snuggling into you and inhaling your scent. “I-I’m sorry,” you mumbled out.
Chishiya frowned at your apology. “Why are you saying sorry?” he asked.
“I-I’m sorry,” you cried quietly again. “I’m so in love with you Chishiya, and I’m so sorry that I’ve waited until now to say it. But I’m afraid if I don’t, I won’t get another chance.”
Chishiya felt his heart stop in his chest. Silence fell over both of you, but then Chishiya placed a soft hand on your jaw to lift your teary face to face his.
“You idiot,” he laughed, tears still streaming down his smooth cheeks. “You’re an idiot. You should’ve told me this sooner, I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to tell you the exact same thing.”
His words only made you sob harder, pushing your face towards him to share a desperate kiss. It was messy and emotional, but that kiss alone was enough to make both of you understand how much you truly cared.
Whether you both lived or died at that moment didn’t matter to either of you, all that mattered was that Chishiya finally crawled out of his shell to let you in, and you had finally been able to create the courage to express what you truly felt about him.
*****************
3 Months Later...
The breeze flew gently past your body, making your skin develop small goosebumps at the cold feeling. Your eyes scanned over the vast ocean of water in front of you, almost being blinded from the morning sun reflecting off the surface.
You glanced behind you quickly when you heard light taps of feet against the grassy ground. Chishiya walked away from the tent and rubbed his eyes. He sat next to you, but not without giving you a soft kiss on the cheek.
“Good morning baby,” he whispered into your ear. You smiled at the pet name, turning your head and placing your lips against his. “Good morning.”

An Iron Box - Just a Little Spark
@cheshiya @tenseoyong @szallejhscorner @something-more-original-please @ofsunsetsandpoetries @nek0dzuken @allozaur @serenzippity @hiqhkey
Helloo everyone! Just dropping this here. I suppose my old physics classes in school came in handy for this chapter XD
Please beware of typos/grammar errors/any other mistakes. I did try to comb through it, but after working strange hours, I'm struggling not to fall asleep so I might have missed a few.
Here is the AO3 link - and thanks for reading!!
------------------------------------------------------
I’d always enjoyed locking myself in a room and basking in the peace and quiet of my own company, but never before had the silence felt so grating. Kuina and (name) were both at a game, and there was little for me to do besides doze off on my bed, listening to the steady drip of the bathroom tap. And, of course, wonder about Niragi.
Right now, he would be inventing some creative way to scare (name), all because he disliked me.
Well, I can’t say it isn’t mutual.
For now, there was nothing I could do about him. Another matter had slotted into the picture quite nicely - the two from the Tag game, in particular, the boy. Arisu, I believe his name was. From the moment they’d brought him and that girl in, I recognised his face immediately, and knew I had found my new test subject for locating the safe. He was gullible, too kind for his own good.
Someone as soft as him would never survive out here anyway.
It wouldn’t be difficult, per se, to switch up the plan. All it would take is a little persuasion, but a carefully controlled persuasion nonetheless. There wasn’t much time left before Hatter was a dead man, and once the militants took over the Beach, there would be no going back.
Speaking of the militants, perhaps it’s time to make use of this opportunity.
Niragi wouldn’t be back for a while yet, and he was grouped with Aguni and Last Boss. With those three gone, it was the perfect opening to attack the castle while it was unguarded, so to speak.
Pocketing a pair of latex gloves, along with the wire cutters and screwdrivers I’d used to build the taser, I pulled up my hood and left the room. The games were well in progress, and with half the Beach out across Tokyo, the hotel was quiet enough for me to slip by unnoticed.
Although Niragi was a little smarter than I’d like to admit, he was still overconfident enough to assume that nobody would dare enter his room while he was gone. And sure enough, I was right. There was nobody around outside, and pulling on the latex gloves, I found that the door slid open. No traps, alarms, or barricades.
So predictable.
Inside, his room was disgusting. The bed resembled a heap of linen, and there were clothes everywhere, including several bikinis and a number of shirts. It was peculiar. If Niragi had this many shirts, why he insisted on wearing one that made him look like a giraffe was beyond even my comprehension.
‘Hmm, what to do…’ Shrugging my hands into my pockets, I took a stroll around the room, admiring the sheer mess of it all. Below the desk, I noticed a dribble of blood stains on the carpet.
Was this where it happened? Or maybe…
My eyes lifted to the bed, where I caught sight of something rather interesting. The bedside lamps on either side were hotel standard, designed with a sleek metal casing from bulb to base. They were sitting on the cheap wooden bedside tables.
All at once, an idea clicked into place.
‘Well, accidents do happen.’
Removing the first lamp from the wall, I unscrewed the plug and opened it up. It was easy to identify the neutral wire with its cerulean casing, the live from its brown casing, and the earth wire from its green and yellow stripes. Taking the wire cutters, I snipped through the earth wire. Then tracing the wiring back to the lamp, I unscrewed the case, snipped through the live wire and angled the exposed end against the metal case.
I took extra care as I screwed the plug back together and rearranged the lamp as it was, before repeating the process for the one on the other side. If the metal casing of the lamp didn’t give him an electrical shock first, the wooden bedside table would probably come in handy later on.
All it takes it a little spark.
And without a trace, I left the room just as it was. Niragi would be non-the-wiser until it was too late, and even though he’d know immediately that I was behind it, there would be no way of proving I was there.
Well… there was one way. However, it was easily fixable.
I took a little detour through the hotel, and headed down to the basement, bypassing the medical room and the generators, before locating the security room. I was always aware that there were cameras set up around the Beach, but I had never had enough interest to investigate it until now.
The room was small, with space for just a desk, a chair, and several monitors. Each monitor flickered between different spaces… the lobby… the former-restaurant… the halls outside the elevators… and interestingly enough, individual hotel rooms. While it came as no surprise that Hatter would be paranoid enough to set up cameras in each room, the thought of someone watching while I was unaware left me uneasy.
The central monitor changed, revealing the regular poolside party. Between the blur of skin, flip flops and swimsuits, was a familiar face. Arisu.
Ah, so you survived…
He was peering around, searching for someone. Then he stilled, before racing across the poolside towards his friend - the climber. If they were both back already, that meant the games would be over soon.
It wasn’t difficult to locate the footage of myself entering Niragi’s room, but erasing it took some tinkering. It was unlikely that many people were aware of the security cameras at all, but I couldn’t be sure of where Niragi stood, so it was simply more convenient to erase the footage regardless.
All this just for her… I surprise myself sometimes.
Speak of the devil, the central monitor switched to the camera overlooking the patio entrance.
And there she was.
Dishevelled and shoeless, but still very much alive. Niragi had one arm around her shoulder, forcing her forward as their group made its way through the patio and in the direction of the pool. I didn’t bother sticking around to see what would happen next. Pulling up my hood, I left the security room and headed back upstairs.
The lobby was empty. Everyone who wasn’t in their room had gathered outside to witness the events happening. I slipped around the back, making my way behind the row of recliners where Kuina, Arisu and the climber were sitting. Where she was.
She hadn’t spotted me yet, as she was standing by Niragi’s side, raw eyed and shaken. Nobody was interested in her anymore. Not when Aguni was addressing the newcomer directly.
‘What a shame,’ he said to Arisu. ‘So only the small fish survived.’ It appeared as if he were going to go inside, but his gaze lowered to the climber. ‘Bring that woman over,’ he instructed Niragi.
The moment Niragi’s arm left (name’s) shoulder, she ducked away, moving to stand behind the recliners. Niragi grinned at her, but didn’t seem too interested. He instead tried to take the climber by force - something I had seen a number of times since arriving here. It was almost strange that people would gather to watch this, especially as it was such a regular occurrence. Just as I was getting bored, however, Arisu stood up, stopping Niragi in his tracks.
The boy has guts. A little unexpected, considering how soft he appears.
Kuina tugged Arisu’s arm. ‘Hey, don’t get involved with this.’
Niragi just snickered at him, and stooped to the climber’s level. ‘Our boss says he wants to have a taste of you—’
‘I said stop!’ Arisu ripped Niragi’s arm away before he could touch her shoulder.
Before me, (name) was still, her fingers gripping the plastic recliner. Even from behind, I could read her so easily, the way her body was angled towards the climber, but her eyes were on Niragi, who seemed more amused by Arisu than anything.
‘Boss, what should we do with this brat?’
‘Take him away and break his legs so he’ll die in the next game.’ Aguni’s lack of hesitation was remarkable. The militants proceeded towards the climber, while Niragi dragged Arisu away by his collar.
Now what will you do.
Surprise, surprise, Arisu yanked himself out of Niragi’s grip and ran back to his little friend, standing between her and the militants.
Before me, (name) took a step backwards, the residues of pool water seeping into her bare socks. I quietly approached her from behind, tracing two fingers along back of her forearm, and feeling the warmth emanating from her. The action served its purpose well. As soon as she noticed my presence, her fingers relaxed around the recliner.
‘What’s going on here? Is this a fight?’
Hatter’s appearance only made things more interesting, but I didn’t bother clocking into anything they were arguing about. It wasn’t obvious at first glance, but Hatter and Aguni were far closer than they originally appeared, and Hatter’s only purpose for intervening was to instigate his role as a peace-keeper. Although it was rather entertaining watching him square up to Aguni.
But then he called for an executive meeting, and just like that, the fun was all over.
Boring.
Once Hatter disappeared into the crowd with Arisu, the music slowly started up again and nearly everyone forgot about what had just happened. Bypassing (name), I pointedly asked Kuina, ‘So, what do you think about him?’
Her eyes glinted. ‘I like him.’
Although we hadn’t discussed Arisu’s use properly before the games started, Kuina caught on rather quickly. As if the thought of replacing her friend position in the plan had triggered a memory, she twirled around to where (name) stood, sending her braids flying into my face.
‘Hey, what was that about before?’ Kuina asked. ‘And where the hell are your shoes?’
Like her clothes, (name’s) socks were caked in mud, and now they were sodden from the pool water too. Her eyes were red and watery. Niragi had probably just scared her, but it was enough to arouse some rather interesting whispers from the people around us.
‘He tried something during your game, didn’t he?’ Kuina prompted, but it was best (name) didn’t answer. The grapevine was already ripe with the rumours of what Niragi had done. And soon, when my plan took action, things would only become worse.
‘Kuina,’ I said, ‘take her to your room. I’ll join you both after Hatter’s meeting.’
It was all one big headache to me. I was aware of the eyes glancing at me over drinks and cigarettes as I strolled back into the hotel. It wasn’t so much that I cared what they thought - they could invent whatever stories they liked about my involvement between (name) and Niragi.
None of it would matter once we finally left the Beach.

Ok
So
I’m working on something similar that 60/40 will leave my drafts somewhere between now and never
But… in my imagination, it probably happens kind of a lot. So, here we go
I am basing kind of off the soft niragi hours thing that I’ve managed to dump out of my brain. They’re both soft nerds inside, but are also feral weirdos.
Anyway, niragi and y/n just came back from an exhilarating game and have visa days to spare so they decide to get hammered and enjoy a few days off from almost certain death
Y/n goes off drinking, dancing, and carrying on, not meaning to leave niragi behind. She’s independent and he’s an adult so she figures it’s all good
But unbeknownst to her, he’s sulking, drunk, horny, watching her and feeling increasingly insecure and jealous
I know you’re uncomfortable with smut, so as light or heavy as you feel like, but
Sexy chaos ensues!
And maybe some cuddles, after care, and talking about feelings like evolved adults
Then a nice sleep
I hope you have fun with this! I always enjoy your writing and appreciate your support for my keyboard mashing xo
[No Doubt]
Niragi Suguru
THIS IS MY ONE OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD AHHHH-
ok, I'm fine. And I'm just not confident in my smut writing skills. I can read it just fine. Writing it is just a bit harder. But there's slight smut
Warnings: Swearing, blood, jealousy, Niragi being insecure, slight smut
You laughed, giving Niragi a quick kiss. "That's some fucking power!" You shouted. He laughed, watching you be excited over the game. The only thing you weren't happy about was about your shoes getting blood on them. Other than that you were ok.
"Woo! We just fucking did that!" You shouted. He would never be able to get over how excited you got. "Yeah we did!" He laughed. You smiled, feeling the excitement running through you. "5 days added to our visa, that makes how many day babe?" You asked, grabbing your knife out of the guy you had stabbed. "If I remember correctly, 9 days," he answered. You nodded. "Can we take a few days off of games? Pleaseeee?" You begged. He nodded. He couldn't say no to you.
After getting situated back at the Beach, you two had decided to head down to one of the never ending parties. Music blasted from every which way. It was loud, but that was exactly what you needed right now.
Usually you stayed close by Niragi. Usually.
But today, you had gone off, chatting with people, drinking, partying, dancing.
He watched as you swayed your hips to the music, dancing in rythym to the beat. You were so cute. So perfect. It was almost too perfect how you fit perfectly in his arms every night. But, that was just you. Utter perfection.
He saw you talking to someone and scowled immediately at it. Why were they talking to you? Weren't they aware you were his? He had made sure everyone knew. Marking you up, giving you hickeys and the occasional bruise that everyone could see. He also wasn't shy with PDA. So why the hell would anyone talk to you, knowing full well you were his? He trusted you, he loved you, so he wasn't angry at you. In fact , he didn't know if he felt angry, sad, or rejected. He couldn't tell the difference between all three feelings.
So, in order to sort of forget about it, he decided to have a drink. And another. And another.
Now, Niragi, when drunk, isn't horrible. He's extremely quiet. But, that's only because he gets trapped in his thoughts.
'Does she even really like me? Or is she just scared I'll hurt her if she tries to leave?'
'I'm so worthless, all I do is hurt other people. I've probably hurt (Y/N) without realizing it.'
'She doesn't hate me does she? No, she doesn't... Maybe she does? I mean she was talking to that guy... no! I can't be jealous... I don't really have the right to be jealous, I talk to people.'
'I deserved the years of torture I was put through. I mean... maybe it was a payback for now that I didn't understand back then...'
He stood in a dark corner of the room, watching as bodies moved on the dance floor. He found you, smiling and having a good time. You looked so happy... So cute... And hot....
He shook his head, ridding himself of the thoughts he had.
'I should just pull her away from those guys. They know she's fucking mine. Maybe I'll just fuck her in front of them so they get the message. Why are they talking to her? I can see their intentions in their eyes.'
'Bitch, you're halfway blind you can't see shit. And I don't think (Y/N) would enjoy that very much.'
'Oh, that's great, I'm having multiple conversations in my head, somehow insulting myself in Chishiya's annoying ass voice. And I'm not blind, I can see perfectly- why am I defending myself against my conciousness? Holy fucking hell...'
You smiled, feeling the music. That's one of the things you liked here. No one really had bad music tastes.
Besides that, most people were really care free here. The only time they really needed to put effort in was at the games. Even then, a lot of them didn't, leaving them to an untimely demise. Sad, but it's what you get for drinking yourself to exhaustion.
You swayed to the beat, feeling the bass of the music in your bones. You missed the normalcy of parties.
People talked to you, actually being friendly since Niragi wasn't around you, but you didn't notice that. You were lost in your own world. And plus, whoever had a problem with Niragi, would definitely have a problem with you.
"So, no boyfriend tonight?" You heard someone ask. You turned to see a guy standing there with a smile. "Oh... um, my boyfriend is here... I just went off dancing," you said. ''He won't mind if I keep you company, will he?" He questioned. You thought for a minute. Niragi wouldn't mind, would he?
He would. And you knew it wasn't a good idea. So, to spare yourself an argument and the hurtful words of an insecure Niragi, you decided to decline the man's offer. Also, the man didn't seem to kind from how he approached you.
"Oh, no thank you. I'm alright," you said politely with a smile. His smile immediately fell, and a scowl took its place. "Why? Your boyfriend's not here, so gives a fuck?" He spat. You stared in shock. His hands grabbed at you, and you pushed him away. You looked around for Niragi, finding him standing in a corner. You sighed with relief, running to him through the mass amounts of people. Most drunk, so if you pushed them out of the way, you didn't really care. They'd probably think they tripped.
"Suguru!" You shouted over the music, hugging him. He looked down, and his mind broke out of the state of sadness. "What happened?" He asked, placing a kiss on your collarbone. "Nothing," you assured him, pulling him out of the room.
He knew what had happened, he was watching you the whole time. Although he couldn't hear what was being said, he could tell it was an uncomfortable situation for you.
That made him even more insecure. You didn't trust him enough to tell him what had happened.
You didn't mean for him to take it that way, but you also weren't aware he was feeling that way.
As soon as you two got to your room, he pushed you down on the bed. You squealed, holding onto him. He kissed down your neck, softly pushing your hands down. You giggled, making him look at you. You kissed his lips, feeling him slowly let go of your hands. You brought them up to his face, gently bringing him closer.
"What's going on with you? So sweet," you muttered against his lips. " 'M always like this," he whispered back, before kissing you again. "Alright if you insist darling," you whispered, kissing him back.
It seemed every time you would kiss back, he would pull away. It was so not like him.
"Mmm... Suguru, you gotta tell me what's up," you muttered. "I think you know what's up. But you'll find out soon," he teased with a smirk. You blushed at his words, and looked away. "Don't look away (N/N)," he said, his voice soft. "I won't..." you promised, sitting up. He backed up, sitting on the bed. You crawled into his lap, and placed your head in the crook of his neck. He could feel your hot breath on his skin, making goosebumps rise. You kissed up his neck, tracing his jaw with your fingers. "You know how to rile me up, you know that right?" He muttered, his hands squeezing your thighs. You laughed softly. "Of course I do. I need to know what makes you feel weak. 'Cause I love you," you said. He sighed, leaning back on the headboard. "I want more... a lot more. Suguru, can we...?" You asked, messing with your hair. "Yeah... definitely," he said, pulling you closer to him. His hands travelled up and down your body, desperate to map out every inch of your skin.
His hands found the back of your swimsuit, and tugged on it. "I want it off," he ordered. You nodded, quickly undoing the straps in the back. You took the top off, and watched his smirk grow in amusement. You started unbuttoning his shirt, and we're surprised at his hand stopping you. "That's not fair. We have to be even," you pouted. "Who said about being even?" He asked, letting your hands finish unbuttoning it. He shrugged it off his shoulders before taking it off completely. "Hands out," he stated. You did as he told you to do, and he slid his shirt over you. "My beautiful (Y/N)... only mine," he whispered, before kissing you. His hands got tangled in your hair and you grinded down on him. He hissed in pleasure, pulling away. "What do you think you're doing?" He asked. You smiled. "Wanna make you feel good. Something on your mind, but since you won't tell me, I guess I'll have to make you feel good," you explained. He laughed as you got off of him. "I don't think we even need to do anything before hand. I'm so needy, aren't I Suguru?" You teased, running your hand over your breasts covered by his shirt. "You are. But I like that," he said, crawling on top of you. He pulled off the bottoms of your swimsuit, leaving you completely vulnerable to him. "Even if you wanted to make me feel good, have to make you feel good first," he muttered, kissing from your lips, down your chest, over your stomach, and down to your inner thigh. He left a few marks on his journey down, making you wince in pain and pleasure. His kisses and markings felt hot. Like fire dragging across your skin, burning and branding you for him. It was a weird sensation for sure.
He looked up at you, making you smile. You softly grabbed the back of his head, pushing hum forward. "Please?" You whispered. "You don't have to ask you know. Just wanted to see your reaction," he stated.
You panted, your legs falling from his waist. All that partying and drinking had really made you tired. You wiped off the sweat from your forehead. You forgot Niragi's shirt was still on you, and you smiled. He slowly got besides you, kissing your neck again.
"Suguru, we- we're both tired, let's just sleep," you said, pushing him away softly.
A part of you did want to continue, another part was tired. On the other hand, there was something off about this. About him.
He just nodded, and left it at that, holding your body tightly close to his own.
Now you knew something was wrong. Niragi would never WILLINGLY admit he was tired after just once. It took way more convincing than that usually.
"Ok, what's up?" You asked, turning around to face him. "What do you mean? Nothing's up," he said back, hiding his face in your neck. "Oh yes there is. So what's wrong?" You repeated, playing with his hair. "Nothing," he muttered.
Everything was wrong. In his eyes anyway. He didn't think you would be to happy about him doubting you and your relationship.
"Suguru, it's ok to tell me what's wrong. You know I won't judge you," you whispered. "Everything. You just... you look so happy without me, and then every guy and girl seems to think that because I'm not around you, you must be up for grabs. No one talks to you with me around, and I wonder if you're lonely without friends. Then you wouldn't tell me what was going on with that guy, and I could tell it bothered you, but you wouldn't tell me. It made me think you didn't... that you didn't trust me," he answered honestly. It suddenly made sense. He was feeling insecure.
"You know... I really do love you. And the fact people fear you is a stupid reason not to talk to me. I really don't mind. As long as I have you, I'm ok. And most people here think 'no rules? Cool, I can do whatever the hell I want to anyone without consequences.' If anything like that is bothering you, please tell me... I will always be here to listen to you," you whispered. He finally un-hid his face, looking at you. "You mean that?" He asked, caressing your face. "Of course I do baby," you giggled, kissing his nose. He smiled, hugging your body closer to his.
"What did I do to deserve you (Y/N)?"
"You were just made for me. Deserving isn't the right word... Fate. Destiny. How about that?"
"I like that better... Love you (Y/N)... goodnight."
"Goodnight Suguru. I love you too."

After he was shot down, Chishiya found refuge behind a car while Arisu was hiding behind another just across from him. He really should have made sure that Niragi died back at the hotel. Now, karma was coming back to bite him.
As he checked his own wound, Chishiya was listening to Niragi rant. He talked about how the three of them present were similar to each other: unable to adapt to society, selfish, no touch with reality yet they desired the real world experience. How sad was his life to be boiled down to a few words?
A battle royale was to ensue between the three, and Chishiya was oddly intrigued.
Not Arisu, however.
“Stop it, Niragi! What good will come of this?” he shouted. “Stop involving others in your own self-abandonment!”
Arisu’s words struck a chord in Chishiya.
Self-abandonment...was that what he had been doing this whole time?
All the things he did, he thought it was because he did not care enough but all this time, it was because he was abandoning himself? What exactly was he doing here?
“I’m just doing what I want to do!” Niragi said. “You two are the same! Whenever you open your mouth, it’s just me! Me! Me! For people like us, it has always been all about ourselves.
“We continually stare death in its face and survive. We’ve experienced countless deaths, and we feel like we know everything. Does that make us smart? No. We’re just pieces of trash who’ll never grow up. No way it’s for someone else’s sake! The only thing that’s certain for people like us is our worthless ego! We can never change, so the only thing to do is embrace it!”
“You’re right…” Arisu said, his voice just about loud enough for them to hear. “For pieces of trash like us, a shootout amongst ourselves might be perfectly apt. That’s why, right here, we have to change.”
Niragi’s words hit close to home. Everything he did, up until this point, had only been for himself. Chishiya had been selfish from the get go, but somewhere along the way, something changed. Niragi was wrong. They were not similar after all. Because Chishiya met Kurenai.
She showed him that even in a world of desolation, there was light. In her, he saw the change he wanted to make. Self-preservation, yet at the same time saving as many as she could. That was the type of person Kurenai was, the person he should become for her. For himself.
Arisu was right. They were pieces of trash, but right here, right now, they should change.
Refusing to participate in this sick battle royale, Arisu stood up from his hiding spot and put his gun down. Chishiya watched him, though distracted when someone else unexpectedly joined.
“Usagi…”
“What are you guys doing?” Usagi asked, shocked to see Niragi alive while Chishiya was hurt.
“It’s you…” Niragi slowly raised his rifle, pointing it at Usagi. “Because of you, this kid will never come to our side. If you disappear, the three of us will return to being the same. I don’t want to be alone anymore!”
Bang! Bang!
Two distinct gunshots went off.
The first was from Arisu, shooting Niragi down. The second gunshot came from Niragi pulling the trigger. But he did not hit Usagi as intended. He did not hit her, because she was pushed out of the way by Chishiya.
“Chishiya!”
Rushing over to his side, both Arisu and Usagi were shocked that of all people, he would have stood to protect her. As he collapsed on the ground, however, there was only one thing on his mind. He knew he was done for, this time. His body moved before he could think it through, and he did not know why. Maybe he did. Maybe it was because of what Arisu said before…
“The bleeding is not stopping,” Usagi said, trying to tie a tourniquet around his abdomen.
“There’s likely internal damage. Without the proper facilities in Borderland, I probably have a few hours left, maybe half a day.”
“Why...Why did you protect me?” Usagi asked. “That’s very unlike you.”
“Maybe I just wanted to be unlike myself,” Chishiya smiled.
They went silent for a moment.
“You said you wanted to talk before, what was it?” Arisu asked.
“I used to view humans as foolish beings. I despised the sincere ones, and I couldn’t help but berate those who put in all their effort. I couldn’t stop the psychological abuse, I couldn’t get by without hurting someone, I couldn’t help shunning people’s good will and intentions. I was probably jealous...they were things I didn’t have. For what purpose do I live? Whose purpose? To what end? It was like I existed to show just how empty a human can be…”
Was that why he chose Arisu to sacrifice? Because he was jealous of the effort Arisu was willing to put in just to survive. What a sad excuse…
“Arisu…” Chishiya called out, his voice weak as his life was draining. “If you see Kurenai, could you please tell her…Never mind, she knows.”
Moving both Chishiya and Niragi somewhere more comfortable, Arisu and Usagi left to participate in the last game. They had no idea what would happen if they were to clear the game, but they had hopes that it would bring them back to the real world. Then Chishiya and Niragi would have a chance at living.
Closing his eyes, Chishiya let out a soft sigh.
What was the last thing he said to Kurenai before they parted? Did he tell her he loved her? Surely she knew he did. He had plenty of regrets, though if he were to die here right now, his biggest regret would be not seeing her.
His light in the darkness.
He had no idea how much time had passed, though he had been in and out of consciousness. He had been trying to hold on but it was getting harder by the minute. That was when he felt someone holding his hand, and pressing their ear to his chest. Chishiya smiled.
It was her.
“Hey…” he whispered.
“Hey,” she replied. “We meet again.”
She was crying, and he did not even have the strength to wipe her tears for her. “Sorry I couldn’t keep my promise.”
“Don’t say that,” she cried. “Please don’t say that...you promised you will stay alive. Don’t be another liar.”
“Kurenai, when we get back to the real world...let’s date.”
With a soft laugh and a smile, Kurenai nodded. “Let’s date.”
He felt at ease just having her with him. Using whatever strength he had left, Chishiya squeezed her hand as hard as he could. She squeezed right back. And for God knew how long, she stayed with him, holding his hand while laying her head on his chest.
“Congratulations, with the last game cleared, players have now cleared all games.” The long awaited announcement. Arisu did it. “All surviving players, please individually answer the following. From now until forever, you have the right to continue these death matches as a citizen of Borderland in the next games with permanent residency. You now have the choice to accede or abdicate the position. Will you accept it or refuse it?”
“I refuse.”
As soon as they refused, a bright light shined in the sky and everything blacked out.

Yes, yes I can bb♡
I went through the same thing earlier this year, sending only happy thoughts your way, here you are
He hated the fact you weren't home with him. It was your anniversary, and no, you didn't forget. Your boss was keeping you at work. You had even asked for the day off, but no. You couldn't do that, because they needed you. Not only that, but they were keeping you way late.
He was disappointed, of course. It had been three years you would be together, and this was the first time you wouldn't spend your anniversary together.
So, he, in an attempt to make himself forget the fact that you weren't there, got drunk. As you do. Problem with that was, the alcohol only made him think more about you. And how much he missed you. How much he wished you were there with him.
You hated your boss. Not only had they made you come into work on a day you had asked off on, but they were keeping you extremely late. Your shift had started at 7 in the morning, and was supposed to end at 4 in the afternoon. It was currently 10 pm. There was no one else there, except you and your boss. Nothing else to do, no customers. "Would you mind if I left? My shift was only supposed to be from 7 to 4," you informed. Of course, you weren't rude by any means. You had always covered for people, came in early, and stayed late. But today was supposed to be a special day for you and Niragi. You didn't even get to have coffee, or say goodbye to him this morning. You had texted him a 'happy anniversary' just so he didn't think you had forgotten. "Is there really a rush to get home?" They asked with a sigh. "Well, um... other than the fact my shift was supposed to end 6 hours ago... it's my fiancé and I's anniversary today. I was really hoping to spend the day with him, and he was really excited... it's the first day off he's had in a while, and... we were just hoping to spend our anniversary together," you explained, playing with the engagement ring on your finger. "Oh, love... ick. You'll get over it soon enough. You can celebrate it tomorrow, no? I'm leaving closing to you. My shift just ended," they said, getting up to leave. You stared in shock as they left, clocking out. How could they do that? Closing wasn't until 12, and they were making you stay? Your shift was over hours ago and they were making you stay?! This wasn't fair. You almost cried from how frustrated you were, but you didn't.
Suddenly your phone buzzed.
It was Niragi.
💖Bubs💖: (Y/Nnnnnn)
You: Yeah?
💖Bubs💖: imdssayoi
You: Suguru? Is something wrong?
No answer.
You: Suguru? Are you alright?
You didn't get an answer and decided to call him. "Suguru, what's wrong?" You asked when he picked up. "Miss you... when are you getting back home?" He said. His words were slurred together, already telling you he was drunk. "I'm sorry baby, they gave me the closing... they left me here," you explained sadly. "But why can't you just leave? Your shift was supposed to be over hours agooo," he whined. You frowned at the thought. By the time you got home, your anniversary would be over. There was no point in celebrating the day after, especially since then it wouldn't be as special. "Because I could get fired for that... 'm sorry... I really wanted to spend the day with you," you said through the phone. "Fuck that. If you get fired... you still have me, and I can... you don't need a job is basically what I'm getting at," he stammered, the fog in his brain from the alcohol making it hard for him to form a thought. "I just want- no, need you home. Now. Please,'' he said. You looked around, and saw no one inside the store. Nothing needed to be picked up. "You're right. I'm coming home. I'll be there in a bit."
The best part of your day was coming home kicking off your shoes, and Niragi running up to hug you. He was like a dog that hadn't seen its owner. You hugged him back, sighing at how content you felt. He was hapoy, and so we're you. "Let's go take a bath, and watch our favorite movies until we fall asleep," you suggested, wanting the last hour of your anniversary to go by as slowly as this day had.
"Yeah... sounds good. I love you (Y/N)"
"I love you too Niragi. Happy anniversary."
Also, like, I know you're pet is sick, but I did right this a while back when I was deciding about whether or not to put my cat down. It's kind of sad, but if it'll help, I'm happy I wrote it
I hope it at turns out well in the end though, and you won't need that chapter. Much love♡♡♡♡
