I’ve seen some talk about the fanon version of macaque and I wanted add that on top of the interpretation of him being a poor little victim as just kinda being wrong, it’s also incredibly boring. At least imo.

like you can say what you want about his redemption arc but I find turning macaque into this poor little victim who was pushed around by wukong incredibly boring. It’s bland. Not in general, just for lmk macaque.

I just think wukong and macaque’s dynamic is so much more interesting when they are both equally very flawed people who have hurt each other in different ways and could probably use the tiniest bit of couple counseling.
