Peace should be that sweetener that enables everything to thrive, one that makes everything that divides us a blur and consolidates all around us into an unstoppable unit of coherence and good will for we still have a chance to progress. Let's move past all and make a pledge for peace. #iPledgePeaceUg picture credit @kibuukaphotography #HH4S2016

Is it peace or Justice that Ugandans need right now?
“I wonder if all these peace pledging campaigns are missing the point, or are they intentionally trying to mislead the population? Requesting people to remain peaceful without in turn asking for justice seems some what hypocritical and one sided to me. I feel like these campaigns are tricking people into submission.
If you have read/seen/heard anything about violence in Uganda this election period then you know, in no way has there been any citizen initiated form of violence, it has always been the government and state institution provoking the people. So whom exactly are these campaigns targeting?

It is very clear that with justice the peace will inevitably prevail, why I wonder, is everyone choosing to ignore that fact? Why is everyone putting in such amounts of effort to massage the symptom but paying very little attention to the disease?
Do I want peace? Of I course I do. But aren’t these campaigns asking a different question? Do I want peace at any price? Do I want peace at the expense of my freedom, my human rights and my dignity? I feel like that is what these peace pledging campaigns are preaching. Why is none of them talking about the justice? Why are they trying to trick people into thinking that one could exist without the other?
So NO, I don’t pledge peace alone, #IPledgeJusticeUg - Come the 18th, go and vote, stay and protect your vote. But most importantly, don’t let anyone insult you, don’t let anyone force a ruler on you. Choose your leader and only pledge peace when the justice is served.
“The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who in time of moral crisis preserve their neutrality” - Dante

#IPledgePeaceUg thinking about the children today as I go to cast my vote. How they can easily be left out. You see learning is not only limited to classrooms. A child actually learns more out of it than in it. Let's teach our children the path to Justice, the calmness towards making decisions. Let's teach them that Democracy has a chance and that this country is part of an entire continent whose narrative should be changed by us. Let us teach them that there is a future whose face is beautiful one that we are contributing to just so they can follow and paint one beyond us with values that they have picked up. Never have I considered my ballot any deeper than this. Let it count, it is for the children, they are defenseless and shouldn't be forgotten. Violence means we consider them not #ThinkSeed

#QuestionTuesday #iPledgePeaceUg the many reasons to fall in love with Uganda over and over again. What would you celebrate about Uganda? My favorite meeting place has allowed me to meet mostly foreigners that have spoken so highly of mainly the Ugandan people. Warm welcoming and hospitable too. There is so much to celebrate especially this week when many people will be celebrating each other. Wouldn't that be more powerful over any form of violence #Ugandadecides let's pledge peace in Love with Uganda all over again.
