[seolinah]

Her shoulders shrug, half a grin forming over her face. "To be fair, it was Julie -- not exactly a saint. But god, she was definitely pissed about it. At least the other girls got a small reprieve from her." The idea of drinks sounded nice. It would certainly be better than all the skulking and avoiding Rosaline's been doing as of late anyway. "Yeah, drinks," she said with a nod. "Drinks would be good. Where're you thinking?"

brinley’s unable to hide the smile forming across her lips as the other seems to ease into the idea. the last thing that she wanted was to scare the other away in any aspect, beside the kiss, brin thought of rosaline as one of her closest friends at work, finding that it wasn’t as enjoyable without her there. “you bully someone?” she teases, laughter escaping her lips. “perfect! well, in the meantime what do you say we go out for drinks?”

"Okay. That sounds fine." It's a better reaction to this all than what Rosaline had given to her. Does it have her feeling a tad foolish? Yes. But she didn't want to spare it much more thought; she's done more than enough overthinking despite her claims of being indifferent towards what they're doing (almost doing). "I can see about it," she says with a shrug. "I did, maybe bully someone into switching, so I'm sure they'd be fine going back to their usual schedule. Might make the customers happier too."

eyes flickers over towards the female, a slight relief washes over her hearing the other's answer. nodding her head slightly, "exactly -- it's all for fun.. if you're not feeling it anymore just tell me.. no hard feelings." shrugging it off, figuring that they were both grown adults. they could do as they please as long as they both had an understanding as to what they were. bumping her shoulders with the other, "you going to switch back your shifts? kinda miss having you there with me."

Rosaline refuses to let this be a weird thing between them. Feelings aren't something she does nor has it ever been a problem for her before. This isn't going to be the start of that. "It's all right..." she says casually .There's determination in her words this time. "It's all just fun, right? I can do fun. I happen to like fun."

brinley figures that there were lots of walls build up within the female, it wasn’t going to be easy to break them down. especially with how she’s willing to run away after a simple kiss. eyes glances over towards the female, sigh falling from her lips. “i’m sorry if i made you uncomfortable or anything.. if you don’t want anything to happen between us then they won’t.”

She doesn't answer that particular question, pretending it's merely rhetorical. If she didn't want to share her adverse reaction to something happening between them now, Lina certainly isn't going to explain the tragedy of her life. Nodding once more when 'it's all just fun' is repeated, she's nearly convinced (or wants to be convinced) that it can be just that. But she falters at the teasing comment, caught off guard enough to not answer immediately back jokingly. "Nothing like that..." Rosaline laughs dryly. "Guess the topic just never sits well with me."

“someone like you?” brinley questions in confusion, wondering when did things get so complicated. sure, they shared a kiss, but it’s not like they had to get weird about it the way that rosaline had with her. “it’s all just fun,” she repeats again, eyes flickering over towards the other, but it was uncertain if she actually fully believes it. “scared you’ll fall in love with me or something?” the female teaser, nudging the others shoulder.

"Maybe for some people," she remarks. "Not so sure that's in the cards for someone like me." Her job alone feels like a complication. And sure, maybe some people wouldn't care or could be supportive about it, but it isn't as if that's the only baggage Lina's carrying. "Just having fun," she repeats, uncertain if she should believe that. Even if that is the truth for Brinley, Rosaline's not sure how well she can stuff her own feelings down. But rejecting her again would certainly make it seem like this is specifically about Brinley. "I guess if that's the case, I wouldn't be opposed to having fun."

there was a piece of her that wanted to know if all her relationships ended like that -- making her believe that all relationships are the same. "you do realize that it doesn't always end up that way, right? sure there's complications, but if you're really into the person i'm sure that it'll work out in the end." slight shrug, eyes glancing away from the other for a split second as a sigh fell from her lips. "of course nobody wants to go through heartbreak, but really that's part of life." brinley quirks a brow at the female, lips tilting upwards slightly. "i mean i don't know about you, but i don't think i'll catch feelings if we're just having fun."

She shrugs a shoulder as if this all means nothing to her. The tense expression on her face says otherwise though. As if she's expecting some kind of 'gotcha' moment from Brinley even if Rosaline has no real reason to assume so. "Relationships just end up being too complicated. Someone ends up disappointed or resentful or unhappy because of the other person," she says in jaded explanation. "I don't see the point in putting yourself through that." What feels like a lifetime of watching failing relationships growing up and being in one disastrous one has Lina more than willing to not be in one. Her brow raises, lips down turning slightly. "Would it be just that?" she questions.

brinley's eyes glances over towards the other, giving her time to try and articulate her words. "and what's wrong with relationships? i mean.. i'm not looking for one, just curious as to why you seem to be running from the idea.." she wonders if rosaline would tell her the truth. "well, it's a good thing that i don't have any expectations, right? why couldn't this just be meaningless fun?" desperate to say anything to keep her from shutting her out.

The conversation was becoming convoluted because of her, but she didn't know how to get herself out of it. "They're easier," she managed uneasily. "I'm not the kind of girl that sees the point in relationships anyway..." It should have been simple - We shouldn't see each other, I don't feel the same way - but they would be words of lies. And a small part of her did want something when it came to Brinley. Not knowing what exactly was what was making Lina so uncomfortable. A small sigh escaped her, arms crossing loosely in front of her. "I know... I just don't want you to have any expectations... Because I'm not going to be able to meet them if you do."

maybe brinley shouldn’t push for a connection when she was clearly uncomfortable. but she couldn’t help it, there was something more to them — or at least that’s what she felt. “so, you are interested in meaningless hooking up?” it was confusing, but she was taking anything that she could get. brinley hopes that she doesn’t totally shut her out, after all the two were somewhat friends. things were good between them before they kissed. “and i’m not forcing you into telling me anything you’re not comfortable with.”

Her head shook. "I'd prefer a meaningless hook up..." Lips pursing, she fell silent. The last thing she wanted to do was allude to feelings that might be brewing on Rosaline's side. It was pathetic, she felt pathetic, or at least cowardly in how she was acting, especially to someone she considered a friend. A sort of friend anyway. "There's just things I don't like having to talk about, okay? Maybe that's unfair to you, but that's just the way I am."

it just wasn't adding up, there was definitely more to the story -- something she's withholding from her. as much as she wanted to get to the bottom of it, brinley was going to take what she could get. "so, you don't want it to lead into meaningless hooking up, so you just flat out ignore me? you get my confusion here, right?" it was frustrating, they were old enough to be real about how they felt. "you could've just spoken to me, it doesn't have to be complicated."

There isn't a great answer she can provide that would explain it away. Maybe it would've been better to have outright ignored her while working, but Lina had made her choice. "Look - I don't do this. I don't bond with people and I certainly don't just kiss people without it leading to some meaningless hook-up." She doesn't pay attention to the words coming out of her mouth. "You make things complicated for me is all."

hearing the words shatters her completely, yet she remains unphased. getting the answer that she needed to hear — to completely let go of whatever it is that they were. “if it doesn’t then why are you so scared to talk to me?” brows rose in frustrations, arms crossing over her chest as she lets out a sigh, “and you couldn’t just come to me about it? you had to go switching shifts and avoid me?”

Her lips pursed. It was her own fault for being questioned, because Brinley technically had a point. "I didn't think it meant all that much," she said casually. Coolly. But it was a complete lie of a statement. Lina's gaze slid away from hers. "Mixing business with pleasure doesn't seem like the best idea. I don't want to give you the wrong impression of what our relationship is."

"you don't, i just think it's weird how after we shared a kiss you're suddenly avoiding me? saying that you're busy." maybe it was her way of telling brinley to fuck off, that she didn't want to talk about it, but she wanted to push. needing answers, "just a question.. why? what's the purpose of all of this?"

"I didn't realize I needed to run my schedule by you first," she mumbles with a slight huff. Gaze sliding towards her, Lina shoots Brinley a pointed look. "I'm not avoiding you. We're talking now, aren't we?" Sucking in a breath, she tries to relax in her presence. "So what's up? Did you need me or something?"

"busy? are you sure about that because it looks like you even changed your work schedule.. why the hell are you avoiding me?"
