Primrose gently put her hand on top of Ophilia’s shoulder, stopping her in her tracks. “Ophilia, please hold for a moment.” The two girls were about to head outside, but something had caught her attention.

“It would be a disservice to your beauty to let you go out like this. Pray, let me...”

As she was speaking, Primrose readjusted the blouse her friend was wearing: starting with the collar, then moving to the sleeves and straightening them. With a final movement, she took both sides of the garment and made sure there were no more unsightly creases on it.

Satisfied with her work, Primrose smiled. “I know it isn’t clerical duty, but you must still care for your appearance. If not for yourself, for me.”

She took Ophilia’s hand in her own. “Come on, let’s go.” With spring in her step, Primrose led the way, as she so often did.
