OKAY so what happened was paz hit the water and was rescued by a belizean fisherman BUT was YOINKED by cipher's strike force XOF. Cipher is led by a man named Zero. Zero mysteriously disappeared some time ago. A man named Skull Face, a dapper genocidal maniac whose heavy burns make his face look like a skull, who dresses very smartly in all black, a wide brimmed hat, a trench coat, and wields a sick as hell sawed off lever-action, was torturing her for the location of both Zero and MSF. Skull Face loathes Zero for reasons I don't entirely understand but it all leads back to the will of The Boss, Snake's mom from MGS3. Zero went completely off the grid some time ago, but Skull Face knew Paz had met with him in person, so she would know. There's some uncomfortably well-done cassette tapes that detail the torture scenes which make me VERY uncomfortable but whatever. When the player as Big Boss finds her in-game, she's still muttering things to herself "Pain is in the mind..." the whole way back to the chopper. Despite all that though, it's revealed in a tape that she did tell Skull Face Zero's location. The bombs are a little treat from Skull Face to Big Boss.

MGS1, 2, and 3 have all been rereleased for the Nintendo Switch, Peace Walker and MGS4 can be played on the PS3, and MGSV: Ground Zeroes and MGSV: The Phantom Pain can be played on the PS4 or on PC iirc.

in mgsv venom snake temporarily psychically links with a 9 year old psychic who summons a giant flaming sperm whale in the middle of cyprus which leaps out of the ground and eats an attack helicopter whole. this is immediately followed up by a chase scene where snake (on horseback) (has one arm and one hook hand) (wielding a shotgun) and ocelot (also on horseback) have to run from a flaming demonic man (can shoot bullets out of his own body) who rides an equally flaming unicorn (has wings made of fire)
