not to be a fucking nerd but I absolutely adore when authors (fanfic and published) include little details about the characters in their writing because it just feels so fucking real? like they add nothing huge to the plot but they’re there for the character?

like Casey McQuiston is one of my favorite authors ever and I’m re-listening to their three books, and I’m so stuck on the lil detail that Shara Wheeler’s signature nail polish is Essie Ballet Slippers. or that Alex Claremont Diaz listens to rich girl by Hall and Oates because of his dad. Or that Jane Su and August love the strawberry milkshake pop tarts. like they’re tiny inconsequential details but they just??? they get me so hard??? Does this make sense???

and Yes CMQ has been arguably one of my biggest inspirations ever since I read RWRB in like 2018? 2019? I cannot remember the exact year

okay i realized i never shared this here, but i am an avid (read: obsessive) collector of casey mcquiston's books. i got sick of checking goodreads for details and wanted a clear snapshot of my collection and what each edition looks like/includes, and wanted something sharable for my friends who were starting to build collections to reference.

enter, the google spreadsheet.

this has every known (to me) edition of red white & royal blue, one last stop, i kissed shara wheeler, eternally yours, and the pairing with different artwork than the standard us/uk ones.

ill keep it continuously updated. feel free to save a copy, and feel free to share it out with anyone who wants a reference guide.

if you've been around my page for a while you've probably heard about my i kissed shara wheeler marauders au w marylily as shara and chloe and jegulus as smith and rory

but i was just rereading what i had written for that au (all of chapter 1 and about half of chapter 2) and it felt way too similar to the original book... and then i had a thought for how it could be changed even more than just putting marauders characters into the story

same cast as before, which is as follows -

non-binary james potter (can't be smith parker without gender fuckery)

non-binary pandora rosier (same but with ash)

lily being friends with (most of) the slytherin skittles because they happened to fit the personalities of chloe's friend group the best

I like to think Brooklyn is a White House Intern during the last year of Ellen Claremont's 2nd term. I reckon Smith and Shara would be on the front lines of the "History, Huh?" movement. I think Chloe cheered so hard she spilled her soda on her roommate's carpet when she watched Alex's speech and heard him say "I'm the First Son of the United States and I'm bisexual. History will remember us". I think Ash and a few of their uni friends painted a mural of Prince Henry in an underpass after the story broke and it went viral (and I like to think Alex printed it out and has it stuck up on his desk through the better part of his time in law school). Idk I think it would be fun if they were in the same world
