कोविड-19 महामारी के कारण लागू लॉकडाउन में पुलिस महानिरीक्षक (कानपुर रेंज) मोहित अग्रवाल ने सार्वजनिक स्थान पर मास्क नहीं पहनने के कारण जुर्माना अदा किया. इसके साथ ही उन्होंने लॉकडाउन के दिशानिर्देशों का पालन करने की महत्ता का उदाहरण सामने रखा. अग्रवाल ने थाना प्रभारी(बर्रा) रणजीत सिंह से कहा कि वह उनसे बिना मास्क पहने बाहर निकलने पर जुर्माना वसूल करें. जिसके बाद एसएचओ ने चालान बनाया और आईजी को एक प्रति सौंपी और आईजी ने मौके पर ही 100 रुपये का जुर्माना दिया. अग्रवाल ने बाद में पीटीआई-भाषा को बताया कि वह निरीक्षण के लिए शुक्रवार को बर्रा गए थे और अपने वाहन से बिना मास्क पहने बाहर निकल आए थे.

आपको बता दें कि मोहित अग्रवाल हाल ही में कानपुर के कोरोना हॉटस्पॉट शिवनगर दौरे पर थे और इस दौरान उन्होंने मास्क नहीं पहना था और गाड़ी से उतरने के बाद वह अपने अफसरों के दिशा-निर्देश देने लगे. जैसे ही उन्हें याद आया कि उन्होंने मास्क नहीं पहना है, वह तुरंत अपनी गाड़ी से मास्क लगाकर पहन लिये.

हालांकि सबसे दिलचस्प बात यह है कि आईजी मोहित अग्रवाल ने अपनी भूल मानते हुए खुद का चालान कटवाया. यह चालान सार्वजनिक स्थान पर मास्क नहीं पहनने की धारा के तहत 100 रुपए का चालान काटा गया. चालान कटवाने के जरिए वह यह भी संदेश देना चाहते थे कि कानून सबके लिए बराबर है. और कोई भी इसका उल्लंघन करेगा तो उसे सजा मिलेगी. सिर्फ इतना ही नहीं मास्क पहनकर पूरी एरिया का निरीक्षण भी किया.

5 held for killing abducted Kanpur lab technician

KANPUR: Five persons, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping case of Sanjeet Yadav. However, the victim has allegedly been killed by kidnappers, the Kanpur police informed on Friday. This comes after a police team allegedly failed to stop the kidnappers from escaping with the ransom. Sanjeet’s relatives are claiming that they have given the ransom amount of Rs 30 lakh to the kidnappers.

However, the police claimed that the accused did not receive the money and Sanjeet’s body has not been recovered yet. Yadav worked as a technician at a private lab in Kanpur and was kidnapped on June 22. Revealing details about the case at a press conference, Mohit Agarwal, inspector general (IG) Kanpur range said that two out of the five accused- Gyanendra Yadav, Kuldeep, Nilu, Ramji and Preeti- were friends and former colleagues of Sanjeet. “On June 22, a man named Sanjeet Yadav was kidnapped. The police teams were searching for him since then. On Thursday, five accused were arrested. Gyanendra Yadav, Kuldeep, Nilu, Ramji, Preeti. Gyanendra is the masterminds of the crime. Kuldeep and Ramji were friends of Sanjeet and used to work in the same lab,” he said. After the kidnapping, Sanjeet was kept in a house rented by the accused, he said adding that the man was killed after he made a failed bid to escape. “On June 26, when Sanjeet tried to escape, they decided to kill him. The next morning, they strangled him to death and threw his body in a canal. On June 29, they demanded ransom from his family. The police laid a trap to nab but due to some reasons that operation failed. SHO Barra Ranjeet Rai has been suspended for negligence in the case. We are trying to recover the body,” Agarwal said.

Mr Agarwal later told PTI that he had gone to Barra on Friday for inspection and had stepped out of his vehicle without a mask. “I had discussion with the subordinates, including circle officers, and later realised my mistake that I was not wearing a mask,” the IG added.

“I immediately took out my mask from my official vehicle and put it on,” he said.

“But I felt it was ethical to get myself challaned and fined to set an example for police and public,” he said.

The state government had said that a fine of Rs 100 would be levied on those not wearing face covers in public. This was part of its measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the IG said.

The top brass of the state had also announced that they would strictly enforce the use of face masks by people.

It was also announced that any person disobeying the direction would be deemed to have committed an offence.
