L: I told you to leave me alone
R: I know Sir, but I'm your advisor and I (unfortunately) have to supervise you too.
Raymond sighed as he read the papers in his hands while following Leshy.
L: Do you think I need your supervision? I was doing just fine before you arrived. I'll continue to do so. Leave
R: I can't. We still need to go over a lot of things, we're far behind schedule to discuss real matters which is urgent, I need you to sign the agreement of imported goods from Anchor Deep and the people in the neglected villages are revo-
L: Fine! How many!?
R: Pardon?
L: How many papers, Raymond?
Leshy turned to him with a momentarily anger. To him, Raymond was simply, yapping.
R: Uh, about... 1, 2, 3...
He began counting, sounds of the paper coming to Leshy's ear.
R: 86 papers, sir.
L: Well good luck to you with that. Just copy my signature.
R: Wait, me? Sir I can't just decide on the matters of the whole kingdom!
L: Aren't you my "advisor"? That's your thing, to decide.
R: Yes, I give advice! I don't rule over a kingdom!
L: Too bad so damn sad, I don't feel like listening you talk about dumb problems I won't be paying attention to anyway.
Leshy chuckled a bit and walked towards his work room. Raymond followed right behind, a bit panicked by the king's nonchalant decision. Leshy closed the door behind him, Raymond nearly making it inside.
R: You can't just ignore it! I promise it won't take long... Don't you care about your people? They are suffering! They are doing their best but barely surviving with what you let them have! Not only that, you've added taxes when I was gone!
L: My people are doing fine. You're worrying too much for something so lame, Ray. If I'm really that shitty of a king, go on. Fill my "so important" papers. And I thought you were smart enough to think that.
Raymond rubbed his temples after setting the papers aside. He took a deep breath. Leshy just sat one of the comfortable chairs and leaned back.
R: (God, I prefer hell over trying to convince this man child to do anything) It won't be long before everything breaks down to chaos if you continue to neglect your duties, sir.
L: ...
R: Maybe the other crowns were right about you after all...
Leshy immediately got up and turned towards Raymond.
L: What did those old bastards say about me?
R: Just the usual sir.
He smiled. Good thing Leshy was, well, blind.
R: That you were too young and naive to understand how a kingdom works. The red crown even said he was surprised that you haven't got hunted by your people.
L: That... Grim faced cat! You know what!? I rule my kingdom just fine! I'm the best king out there! They wish they were me! I can rule their kingdoms along with mine if I wanted!
R: Yes sir. You could...
L: Read me the damn papers Raymond! I'm gonna finish these papers faster than any of those living corpses!
R: (Works every time)
___________________________
It was night time when they were able to finish all those papers. Raymond had lit a candle long time ago to read better and Leshy seemed to listen.
R: This is the last paper... It's, it's over
L: Finally, for fuck's sake...
The worm yawned and leaned back. Raymond put the papers in order and set aside, before leaning back like his King.
R: Sir your profanity.
L: Ray I'm too tired to care.
R: You're right... I should be too tired to ask.
L: What's the time?
R: The moon is up by a hand. It's too late.
L: You don't say.
The advisor yawned and drank a glass of water. The King on the other hand rubbed where his eyes should be. It was rare but, sometimes, his eyes would bleed again, his wounds so easy to tear open. The cat panicked at the sight, immediately his tiredness vanishing by worry that overtook.
R: You're bleeding!
L: Don't-
Leshy hissed at him when Raymond tried to touch his face so he backed away. Raymond looked at the blood with sadness for his King.
R: Does it... Does it still hurt? Does it hurt bad?
He asked with a shakey voice as he reached for Leshy's face again. Surprisingly, the short tempered king didn't pull back the second time. He leaned to the touch, to the feeling. Raymond's palm got bloodied as he wiped it.
L:Not anymore. Not like the way it used to...
R: It's good... I think. Is it just pitch black..?
L: People assume so. But no. My vision is my thoughts. I can see just, not in the way you'd expect
R: How so? How can you just- See?
The King chuckled at the advisor's weirded out question.
L: I already know what something looks like. I know colors, I know shapes, I know sounds, the materials, the feelings. And, if you know it like I do, it feels like your whole imagination is your sight.
R: That's... Not as bad as I thought
L: You think about going blind?
R: No, heh, of course not... I think about, how hard it must be for you.
L: You think about me? Now that just makes me shy~
R: My King-
Raymond gave a tired and short giggle as he blushed. Even though he hated his job, he didn't hate the worm necessarily.
L: What? Can I not be curious about why you think about me Ray?
R: With all due respect, that's not the point, sir. I work for you, it's natural that I worry for the one I'm working so close with.
L: And somehow I'm someone you must worry for? The levels you bring me down to.
R: You make it sound like everything is just fine! Is there really nothing bad about being blind?
L: There are bad sides of it of course
R: Like what?
Leshy smiled, putting his hands on top of Raymond's.
L: Knowing I'll never actually see you

At this stage post-op we are about three weeks out from the surgery. Things are healing fine, but not without some complications:
Wound dehiscence at the front of my canal. It'll heal on its own but kind of slowly. Plus according to the trans care nurse I saw it's likely to develop granular tissue, which is treated very easily but it's profoundly inconvenient nonetheless
Urinary tract infection. Search me how I contracted the fuckin' thing but we caught it early it seems. I was given some antibiotics at my last medical appointment, and I hope to christ they kick in soon cuz I had a fever of about 101.6 this morning. Cannot remember the last time I felt that physically weak and miserable. The other day I didn't have the strength to keep my legs prone to air dry properly
There's a hematoma underneath my vulva on my right side. It sounds worse than it is, and it seems to be going down on its own. Still, it is lengthening my recovery time for longer than I want, and it bleeds out of a pinprick sized wound on right side
Ughhhhhh.
Mentally I've been all over the place. I've been going through phases of regret and fear, which as I wrote about earlier this month I experience when I feel particularly bad. It passes just as i expect it too once the pain and dread stops. It doesn't make it any easier to deal with in the moment though. Sometimes you just have to ride the feeling out.
I get asked sometimes what it feels like to be cockless. The honest answer is that is that I don't know yet. I like how it looks and I love not having something dangle between my legs, but it still hurts. I won't be able to use my new parts the way I want to for at least a few more months. I'm still a little too swollen to find my clit too, and quite frankly I miss being able to cum.
I'm not fucking around with my health so despite all of the pain and fever I'm going through I'm still dilating on schedule four times a days and doing my hygiene routines as required. There are consequences if I don't, and I don't want to become complacent and stop. I've downsized to the blue and green dilators for the time being due to the pain caused by my dehiscence. I can always work back up to the orange one once everything heals up more. Right now I want to be sure that I maintain my depth and do so with the least amount of pain possible.
There's someone I follow online who has a Q&A section about their own gender affirming surgery on their social media who has a very salient point in one of the entries. I'm not gonna tag them and risk embarrassing them (but if you happen to be reading this please know that I think very highly of you!), but essentially their point was that, if you're asking someone if you should get bottom surgery of any kind, the answer is no you should not. Asking that means that you're still uncertain about whether or not it's the best decision. If you ask yourself if you want bottom surgery and the answer you come up with is "I don't know," that isn't good enough. For your own safety you need to wait until you are certain. That could take a very long time but it's still the most responsible thing you can.
I had several appointments with therapist and doctors in order to be sure this is what I wanted. When I am in my right mind I am confident in my choice and I don't regret it. You need to be sure you won't regret it too.
Anyway. My next appointment with the trans health care nurse is friday of next week. Luckily my husband is able to drive me since my brother isn't available this time and I really do not want to take transit for that long in order to get there. Ideally my UTI will have gotten better by then. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

The Rebels Last Stand
Chapter LXXVII: Battle of the Third Moon
//////////////////////////////////////
To start from Chapter I, go here: https://how-do-i-turn-this-thing-off.tumblr.com/post/169184041771/oh-my-god-you-know-what-i-want-i-want-rey-to-be
////////////////////////////////////////
Rey walked into the belly of Ben's flagship trying not to act as overwhelmed as she was beginning to feel. Somehow it helped that everything around her was chaos, since it made her mental jumble feel far less important, especially when she turned around after disembarking to make sure Ammu and Ani got off okay and saw Ben already leaving them, headed toward an officer who stood to one side with several others, a datapad in hand. Finn noticed about the same time she did and turned that way immediately but Rey held back as Ammu stopped so close to her he almost brushed her arm, looking very unsure and very, very small.
“Excuse me,” Rey said, reaching out to one of the red stormtroopers who was passing her. He stopped and looked back, his mask unreadable. “Could you take this child and his... akk dog companion to medical? I'd like him to get checked out.”
“I have no orders concerning the child,” the stormtrooper replied, his voice made mechanical through his helmet's vocoder but still not sounding remotely sympathetic.
“Well can you find someone who can give orders, then?” Rey asked, not feeling particularly patient as she glanced between Ammu and the meeting that was happening just fifty feet away, Ben and Finn both bent over the datapad as the officer spoke rapidly, gesturing to different parts of the screen.
“Only the Supreme Leader can give orders concerning his... guests,” the stormtrooper said, and Rey wondered if he'd have said 'prisoners' in other company. Either way the soldier shrugged her off, going about his business whatever that might be and leaving Rey hesitating as everyone else seemed to also be rushing off to do very important things elsewhere. She shook her head and grabbed Ammu's hand, giving him a quick smile that she hoped was reassuring.
“Come on, Ammu, let's go see what's going on,” she said, tugging him towards Ben. Ani followed, oddly helping her clear a path before her even though he was behind; apparently even on a First Order flagship in the middle of battle, there weren't many who wanted to deliberately get in the way of an akk dog going wherever it wanted to go.
By the time she reached the little group that was her target every expression was grim, and the datapad the officer was holding, traced with red crosses and other insignia, didn't really seem to have that many red crosses at all in comparison to everything else around it.
“Hux is putting up a fight,” Ben said, looking up at Rey. “It's going to be a tight squeeze to get out before he cripples enough of our craft to make retreat impossible.”
“No, Poe won't want to,” Finn said, shaking his head. “I'm telling you if there's a chance--.”
“We won't be able to wipe out the rest of the First Order here, and we don't need to!” Ben exclaimed. “A third of his fleet didn't even show up, he's bleeding support and he knows it! An uncertain battle today isn't preferable to a certain battle tomorrow.”
“You could ask Poe what he thinks?” Rey suggested.
“He isn't responding to comms, the Indomitable has been badly damaged and half its systems aren't operating. The Resistance flagship,” he added in response to Rey's questioning expression. “The Rebels got back in much more quickly than we did, and now I almost wish they hadn't.”
“You can't make this decision on your own!” Finn insisted.
“I'm going to have to,” Ben said, taking the datapad from the officer and keying something in.
“Wait-- R2!” Rey said. “If they took Leia and R2 back with them to the ship, R2 will be with Leia and he has separate comms! Do you have his comms signature on file?”
“Potentially, as a spy frequency,” Ben said, sounding doubtful.
“Try hailing him.”
“If his system doesn't automatically reject a First Order hail, that is,” Ben pointed out, but his fingers were already moving on the datapad again. “We have it,” he said, and then a moment later he frowned. “It's transmitting, but there's a lot of interference from the battle.” A ping sounded, and Ben's eyebrows rose as Rey edged toward him, Ammu still in tow, trying to see the screen. “We have them, I think,” he said. “It's just showing an empty room. R2? Are you receiving?” There was an affirmative series of beeps and whistles, and he frowned. “I don't know why he's sending me this.”
“Here, give it to me,” Finn said with a sigh. “Hey, R2, it's Finn, you there?” Another affirmative whistle, followed by inquiring beeps, just as Rey finally squeezed in close enough to Finn to see the grainy blue-gray footage of what did seem to be just an empty room. “Yeah, Solo's not on screen anymore, he's... gone to get some more blasters or something, I don't know,” Finn lied, glancing at Ben. “Is there anyone in command there?”
“Finn?” someone said on the other end, and the feed went blurry then came back into focus with Poe nearly filling the screen, covered in black soot like someone had tried to blow him up, a cut across his hairline liberally bleeding down a good portion of his face. “Finn, is that you?”
“Poe! Poe, I'm on the Reservoir, we've been trying to hail you.”
“Yeah, comms aren't working,” Poe said, wiping at his eyes. “They hit our bridge while we were still on the way back. We're still firing, but all the rest of our power is diverted to just keeping us in one piece.”
“Solo thinks we should retreat,” Finn said, no longer looking certain about the issue.
“Well if he does he'll be hanging our asses out to dry. We try to go to lightspeed like this, we'll be ripped apart in the first parsec.”
“General Dameron,” Ren said, grabbing the screen and tilting it so his face was in shot again. “Where were you hit exactly?”
“Um, the bridge is wiped, there was a hit in the training quarters, and I think twice in consumables-- R2, what are you doing?!” he demanded as the camera jolted away and Poe went out of sight. A moment later Poe had yanked the camera back to him and R2 was beeping at Poe rapidly and accusingly. “He's not trying to contact Leia!” Poe protested. “Ren, tell R2-D2 you're not trying to contact Leia.”
“I only need to speak to someone in Command, it doesn't matter who,” Ben said impatiently. “General Dameron, if the Reservoir locks you into a holding tractor beam, do you think that will keep you in one piece if we go to lightspeed?”
“Go to lightspeed in a tractor beam?” Poe repeated, looking around for a moment as several alarms went off behind him, then looking back. “Depends, how strong is your tractor array?”
“Three Q-Series arrays, seven Cantwell class,” Ben replied immediately, reaching across the screen to tap something that would project the information he needed. A holo of the Reservoir appeared in the air in front of him, the relevant tech highlighted, and Rey could only stare; back on Jakku she'd been continuously overawed by how titanic and inscrutably complex the Empire's ships had been, but even this bare outline of the Reservoir made everything she'd been scavenging seem almost feeble by comparison. Ben, however, seemed to read it like a manual. “The largest Q-Series array is at the rear of the ship,” he narrated to Poe, enhancing and selecting that portion of the holo through the screen. “If you can maneuver the Scythe at least that far, we can redirect enough power to hold you stable even if we go to full lightspeed on our Class 2 hyperdrives.”
Poe considered, looking away from the screen for a moment; there was the sound of voices from behind him, and he seemed to watch something absentmindedly. “It's a risk,” he said, looking back. “If you're wrong, just the jump will drag us out of the beam and destroy us.”
“If I'm right, Hux can't follow,” Ben pointed out, his voice steady, calm. “Not with as many ships as he's brought. Not all of them will be able to make a Class 2 jump and he won't risk leaving dignitaries stranded if he wants to shore up his support.”
Poe sighed, hard, then nodded. “Alright, but if that's the case I'll tell my light craft to dock in the Reservoir. If the Scythe doesn't make it, at least they will.”
“Then you should put someone from Command on any light craft you still have to spare,” Ben replied evenly. “In case.”
“Yeah, as if she'd agree to that,” Poe seemed to mutter, then his gaze lit on Finn and unexpectedly, he smiled. “Well, if I go down Finn's in charge,” he said. “How's that? Field promotion.”
“To what rank?” Ben asked, looking surprised for the first time as Finn stared then shook his head for a moment, hard, as if trying to shake off a fever dream.
“Considering how few Rebels will be left if the Scythe goes down, Supreme Leader, he can call himself anything he wants,” Poe said, rummaging around with something on the other end of the screen then his own datapad coming into view. “He can call himself God-Finn the Magnificent, for all I care. I'll send out the orders now, through R2-D2's comms; if you can boost the signal, we'd appreciate.”
Ben nodded. “Force be with you, General.”
“Yeah, it better be,” Poe muttered, ending the transition. Ben started giving orders immediately to his nearest officers as Finn turned away, looking around like he was hoping for a place to sit down for a moment, but seeing Rey right there next to him instead.
“God-Finn the Magnificent?” Rey asked, pretending skepticism. “It's a little clunky.”
“Yeah, we'll workshop it, we'll workshop it,” Finn muttered, looking around. “Guess I should be here when the Rebels get in. Welcoming party, or something. Just so they don't land in a sea of stormtroopers. What do you say, kid?” he asked, looking down at Ammu, still holding Rey's hand. “You can be my first officer for now, if you play your cards right.”
“No, thank you,” Ammu said, looking tired.
“Well, maybe not right this moment,” Finn said, glancing between Ammu and Ani. “First in the akk dog cavalry might be more your style. Anyway, let's go find somewhere to sit that's out of the way, okay? I need the break.” Ammu shrugged and nodded to that, but Rey still had a little trouble sliding his hand out of hers, even as she was mouthing 'thank you' to Finn over his head. Finn raised his eyebrows, pointing between him and her and mouthing 'you owe me' as he put a hand around Ammu's shoulders and led him away.
“Rey,” Ben said just behind her, and she turned around to see him with a helmet in his hands. “Poe's going to have to bring the Scythe the long way round to line it up right. He needs the light craft to clear a path for him, and I could use someone fresh out there.”
“Oh-- I've never flown a TIE before,” Rey said hesitantly, taking the helmet from him and feeling a little foolish that at the sound of her name she'd hoped for rather more than a First Order pilot's helmet.
“If you can fly a bucket like the Millennium Falcon, you can fly a TIE,” Ben said firmly. “Same basic principles. But I can't go myself.”
“Right, of course,” Rey agreed, turning the helmet around in her head and starting to put it on. Ben put out a hand to stop her and she glanced up, about to ask if she was putting the helmet on wrong somehow, but by then his other hand had come up to touch her just under the chin and he'd bent down to kiss her on the lips. It was a momentary kiss- a fraction of a moment, really- but she melted into it, and into him. They broke apart a million years too soon, and Ben took both hands away.
“Buy us some time,” he said, then turned back to his officers and was immediately surrounded. By the time Rey had the helmet on and thought to look around for where the TIE fighters might actually be, he was gone.

You know, I’m not usually an easily pissed-off person but something that really, really ABSOLUTELY BLEEDING PISSES ME OFF EVERY TIME is MEDICAL WORKERS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY, AND IN DOING SO, ENDANGERING PATIENTS.
TAKE THIS FOR EXAMPLE:
My long term followers will know I’m a doctor. I came off a 24 hour shift this morning. In the last hour of this 24 hour shift, a patient went into supraventricular tachycardia and his heart was going 175 beats per minute while his systolic BP dropped to 54 (for reference, 100-120 is usual for SBP) Concurrently, in another ward, another patient was going into septic shock and had a systolic BP of 65. Patient 2 (sepsis) was awake and coherent. Patient 1 (SVT) was not.
I get called for both within 1 minute. I tell the nurses in Patient 2′s ward that I have to handle patient 1 first as he’s in more danger, and to give a bottle of IV fluid full rate to patient 2 first so she survives until I get there later.
“Can you input the order into the computer,” the nurse says.
I tell her I can’t, because I have to handle this urgent case right NOW (and to be honest EVERYONE knows the protocol for shock and this bolus of fluid is standardised???)
She says ok, doubtfully.
I run into patient 1′s ward and slam two IV catheters into his arms and when 1 dose of the required med didn’t work shocked him. He slammed back into awareness with a yell, SBP jumping up to 102.
At this point, as more than FIFTEEN MINUTES have passed from my verbal order to patient 2′s nurses, I get another call.
It’s the senior night nurse at Patient’s 2′s ward.
“Sorry, could you confirm that verbal order for fluid? The nurse you talked to just now was pretty junior.”
I hold myself back from screaming into the phone THE PATIENT HAS BEEN AT A SYSTOLIC BP OF 65 FOR FIFTEEN FREAKING MINUTES NOW and repeat the order twice, firmly, and tell her to give the patient the fluid NOW.
I put down my phone and tell patient 1′s nurses I have another urgent patient. I run down two levels to get to patient 2′s ward. The nurses are just barely screwing in the IV line to the patient’s saline IV connector as I run in.
I bite back a howl of frustration and set about making sure the patient survives another day.
Now, if you’re reading this, you might be wondering why the nurses didn’t want to give the patient fluid without a computer input, even if the patient died because of it.
It’s because they didn’t want to take the responsibility for the verbal order.
All they really had to do was write in the patient’s notes that I had verbal ordered it, and legally I’d have been responsible. But they didn’t want to even take a chance of giving a medication without a doctor’s writing in front of them, even if it meant either patient 1 or patient 2′s life would be put at risk if I stepped away from the practicalities of lifesaving procedures to enter something into a computer.
Both patients, as I’m so far aware, survived.
My trust in those nurses has not.
I’m nearly two months into this rotation to this rehab hospital and already I’m wondering how many patients have come close to death because some of the nurses here act like idiots who can only reach out a hand to confirm a button instead of moving as a coherent team.
Nurses from acute hospitals freak out when they rotate here because it’s so. utterly. idiotic.
I cannot. I have a month more at this hospital and then I’m rotated elsewhere. I cannot deal with this level of stupidity anymore
#doctor#junior doctor#medicine#Did you know the on call doctor is the only one in the hospital capable of setting an IV line past 9:30 pm at night til 9AM#I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN DRAW BLOOD FOR FIVE HUNDRED PLUS PATIENTS AT NIGHT#BECAUSE THEY DON'T TRAIN THE NURSES TO DRAW BLOOD THERE#I'M A FREAKING RESIDENT BUT I'M NOT GOD#I CANNOT BE IN TWO PLACES AT ONCE#SO DO YOUR FREAKING JOB#IF YOU WON'T MAKE DECISIONS THEN LET ME MAKE THEM BUT FOLLOW MY BLEEDING ORDERS THEN#personal#my post

Title: Sweetheart Part 2
Pairings: Armin x fem! reader
Part One
Warnings: None
Word Count: 2000+
••••••
“Fix your postures!” you commanded, your hands are on your back as you walk in front of the Cadets. Levi stood behind you with a smirk on his face, he's been a little gentle with the Cadets these days but now that you're back to kick ass with him this would be so fun.
“Kirstein! Straighten up your back!”
Jean immediately obeyed while Connie was staring at you with wide eyes, this was not how they remembered you few days ago, you were soft spoken then, all sweet and all smiles but now they are seeing the tigress that Levi was talking about.
Levi was even more gentle in handling them because Levi rarely shouts yet his words carries heavy emotions but you, you can do both.
“She's the sister of the commander that's why she has the guts but I bet she's all cry and whine if she faced a Titan.”
You have a good sense of hearing and you heard what the Cadet has said about you, it wasn't the first time that someone underestimated you because of your gender and because you're Erwin's sister, it's one of the stereotypes, you don't actually mind but what you heard next took every single strand of patience inside you.
“Bet she's a good screamer in bed.”
Levi balled his hand into a fist, he may call you brat and have endless argumentd with you but he treats you like a sister and hearing the Cadets say those filthy words to you makes his blood boil but then when he saw how you tilted your head in both sides and how your eyes went blank he already knew that you can handle it yourself, you're not a simple girl after all so he let you do what you want.
Your eyes wandered around the Cadets, you were hurt by those comments, you hated being looked down just because they think you had it easy because of your brother when in fact you almost die a lot of times in the past and those wounds from Titan attacks heals in time but those words that serves as daggers stabbing your heart won't.
After a minute of searching you found the pair that you heard, the two men were standing beside Armin Arlert, it would've been a great view if the assholes weren't standing beside him, Armin Arlert's face screams peace, those blue eyes are calming.
“I bet she's been sleeping with the Captain.”
That was the last straw, Armin immediately threw hard punches towards the two guys who are both taller, and probably a couple of years older than him, he had enough of their dirty mouths, he knew that he's not suppose to do that but he couldn't stand them talking shits about you like that, his knuckles got red because of the impact and when he looked down at the two fellow Cadets, both their nose were broken as they lay flat on the ground.
Levi was shocked to see Armin straight up punch his fellow Cadets but he secretly smiled, he knew that the kid is promising. Everybody just need a little push to unleash their demons, seems like Armin Arlert has been unleashed just now.
Eren and Mikasa immediately went beside Armin to put a hand on his shoulders trying to calm him down silently, the blonde teen was heavily breathing, “I was taught by my grandfather to treat women right, you don't talk dirty shits about them like that, respect a woman the way you respect your Mother.” Armin growled through gritted teeth, he's surprised of the damage that he had done to the two men, those broken and bleeding nose gives him some sort of satisfaction but as he tore his blue eyes away from the two, he met your eyes.
You were frozen on your position, you were planning to do punch them first but Armin's action made you stop, you see the blonde guy as a soft one, the type of person who wouldn't even dare hurt a fly but here he is proving that he knows how to throw a good punch, when your gaze met, the anger on his eyes vanished, his face softened as his cheeks turned bright red including both of his ears.
With a small smile you made your way towards them, Connie, Jean and Sasha were standing behind Armin now too, checking up on him, you've deduced that he's like the baby in the group, suits him, he does look like a baby.
You looked down at the Cadets lying on the floor and grabbed their collars so you could lift them off the ground.
Everybody gasped at your action but no one dared to interfere. “I would love to have you two on our squad next expedition but we're the one leading the whole team which means...we're the first one to encounter titans and if we're unfortunate we'll be the first ones to get eaten too. I'll show you how I cry in front of the Titans then.” you let go both of their collars and let them land butt first on the ground.
You turned to Armin and smiled at him genuinely, “I appreciate your efforts for breaking their nose for me, Cadet. Thank you.” you smiled as you pat his head, Armin looked up at you with a smile, his cheeks flaming red, “It's natural human decency, M-Ma'am. No need to thank me.” you smiled at him and pursed your lips before walking away so you could go back to the center of the scouts.
“Captain Levi would take over now.”
Levi stood beside you and the Scouts saluted at him, “Take care of some written reports for me, brat.” he ordered and you nodded as a response as you walked away from the training grounds but before you could even went further, you heard grunts and gasps behind you.
You saw how the sole of Levi's boots collided with the face of the Cadets, you winced and bit your lower lip as you see how Levi kicked them hard.
“I'll make sure you two would learn how to respect your superiors now and women in general.”
You started to feel bad because you're damn sure their jaws would be dislocated because of Levi's signature kick but you remembered that they're assholes and they deserved it so you proceeded to go on and take care of the written reports instead of watching their ass get beaten.
°°°°
It was already dark when you've decided to take a walk to try and breathe some fresh air, you looked up at the dark sky, the moon was shining brightly.
Your eyes settled on the mysterious moon, you've always been fascinated of the moon, when you were a kid you often cry to tell Erwin that the moon is a creep because it keeps on following you, your brother would always hold back his laughter and would assure you that he'll protect you from the moon.
A part of you wishes that you two should've stayed as kids then, your brother has been seeking to find out the truth and as he gets closer to that truth, you're slowly losing him. You immediately wiped a tear away, you should just be happy for your brother and make sure he'll be safe, that would be enough.
You lifted your arms towards the sky as if reaching the moon, it is beautiful yet awfully frightening but the stars cast out those fears, as the stars shine brightly in the night sky you felt at ease and you smiled to yourself before putting your hands back to your pocket. It's getting colder now.
The cold wind embraced your whole and you shivered strands of your hair escaped from your messy hair bun. When the cold was too much for you to handle, wearing thin clothes is not a wise decision so you've decided to go back inside just to hear a hissing nearby, if you're right the hissing comes from the tree nearby.
Out of curiosity you slowly made your way towards the tree, you just silently prayed that it's not Cadets that are making out outside because you've witness a pair making out behind trees before and you wouldn't want it to happen again.
But as you got closer to the tree you confirmed that it wasn't a couple doing something nasty outside, it is an angel silently sitting down.
“Aren't you suppose to be sleeping by this time now?”
Armin's eyes widened as his head snapped on your direction, his mouth gaped open as while his brows raised in surprise. "I c-can't sleep Ma'am.” he stammered and looked away from you, not that he doesn't want to see you, it's just that the thin material that you're wearing is revealing your cleavage. He had to gulp and remind himself that it's not appropriate to look at women like that.
“Mind if I sit down beside you? I couldn't sleep either.”
“I-I don't really mind.”
When your arms accidentally brushed, Armin wanted to flinch but he didn't because he wouldn't want to offend you and when you looked at him you can still see how red his cheeks were even if it's dark. “Thank you for what you did, earlier. I don't really mind such comments anymore, it wasn't the first time and it probably wouldn't be my last either.” you chuckled bitterly, you've worked hard to be a skilled fighter so you could prove to everyone that you're not a woman living as your brother's shadows.
But sometimes life is fucked up, actually most of the time it is fucked up.
“You should inform Commander Erwin about it. I mean they're crossing the line, they're talking as if they know you.”
“How about you, do you know me?”
“It feels like...I do.” he silently whispered as he looked down on his hands, you followed his gaze and your mout gaped open when you saw that there's a bandage covering his knuckles. “By the walls, Armin...w-what happened? You shouldn't have done it, I could've taken care of them myself.” you grabbed his hand and examined it, not that you can see through those bandages but you just feel like doing so.
Armin could've taken away his hands from you but he didn't, feeling your soft skin against his is comforting, he's forgotten that he shed a tear when Mikasa put those bandages around his knuckles, he didn't break any bone but it's red and sore, he's not really cut out for scenarios like that but it was worth it because he was able to defend you at some way, in the little way that he could.
“It's just sore. I'm not really good at punching, you know. I used to get beaten up as a kid, they'll steal my food and Eren and Mikasa would come to rescue me but now, I finally...I finally get to do something for someone.”
“Why didn't you fight back before?”
“Because I can't and I'm not as brave. You know, when I came face to face with a Titan, I—I was frozen. Eren got eaten and it was fortunate that he's alive.”
You didn't notice that you stared caressing his knuckles as you listened but it seems ljke he doesn't notice too so you let it be, “But look at you now, I've heard from Erwin that you're a smart one. You've figured out who is the female titan right?” Armin looked at you and his blue eyes widened in shock as he saw how close you two were.
He knew that in one wrong move he can finally know how would it feel to have your lips press against his, if he'll move his head forward maybe he can feel how soft those lips are.
But he stayed back, he respects you. He's attracted to you but he knows his boundaries, his grandfather told him to grow up as a gentleman and all that and he thinks of Mikasa, if Mikasa would be treated so inappropriate by a man he wouldn't like that, he wouldn't like that to happen to his sister.
That's why he would behave himself around you and he'll choose to be contented of just staring at you, it's more than enough.
“W-Well it was a gamble and I was already late...it was—”
You kissed his cheek to shut him up. The poor guy looked at you as his whole face reddened, both his ears flaming up.
“W-Why d-did you do that?” he whispered as he looked away.
“I just want to. Can you promise me one thing?” you asked as you leaned away, Armin looked at you with curiosity before he opened his mouth to respond, “It depends, make me promise something that I can fulfill.” he told you. When he promised someone, he'll always make sure that he can fulfill because he hates it when promises are broken and he wouldn't want to break any promise to anyone, especially to you.
“Each one of us has our own expertise, I want you to focus on yours and if you find yourself in a fucked up situation, don't hesitate to go to me, call out my name or somethin', I have your back now, Armin.”
“Then call out my name too if you need me.” Armin told you bravely, he doesn't have any idea why he felt this way but the moment he saw you after bumping into you, he already know that he's attracted, he told Eren about it, Eren teased him and he's not amused, not that he hates it but he's afraid that you'll hear.
He often watch you from afar, most of the times you are found with the Captain, probably why some thinks the two of you are in a relationship but as you sat beside him under the moonlight, his heart was filled of hope.
“Good night then, sweetheart.” you whispered as you gently press your lips on his cheeks again, as usual, he was frozen and you stood up to walk away so you could go back inside already.
Armin followed you with his gaze as a sweet smile made its way across his lips, his eyes sparking with glee.
“Good night, sweetheart.” he whispered.

hi! i hope you won't mind if i send this! can i request steve rogers x teen reader where the reader had a really bad week and after a mission, he scolded her but the reader accidentally screamed and cried? thank you ^^
Love you For Infinity- Steve Rogers x Teen!Reader
Warning: a little dab of angst, fluff, Steve being a cutie 🥺
Summary: you’ve had a really rough week and you didn’t exactly follow orders on the mission so Steve scolds you, like the father figure he is, and you break down to him
Your whole week had been a bust. You had lost your phone, broke your finger, gotten yelled at by Fury, gotten an F on your test and your Aunt Flo visited.
To top it all off, Tony had you, Steve and nat going on this mission. You really don’t want to go. your stomach was cramping like all hell and you just hurt. That morning you started at the ceiling and heard tony walk down the hallway near your room. You covered your ears with your pillow in an attempt to block out the noise and fall back asleep. Just when you were closing your eyes, there was a knock on your door and you heard it open. “Raise and shine, mini Rogers. You got that mission today.” You groaned and threw your pillow across the room in a attempt to hit him. He looked at the pillow pass him by inches then cast you a sarcastic gaze. He sighed and walked right out of the room, mumbling something about an attitude.
You got up very slowly and got dressed. You put on your boots, grabbed your weapons and walked down into the common room. You gave Steve and nat a fake smile and you guys headed out.
The mission was a cut throat one; you guys get in, get a flash drive and get out. Except, there was way more people than you guys had originally expected. You had made the stupid decision to run in the middle of a group of them and take them out. In the crossfire, you got shot in the upper arm. You barely even noticed until blood rolled down your arm. You ripped a piece of your shirt and wrapped it around the wound to stop the bleeding. You made a mental note to see Bruce or Doctor Cho when you got back to the compound.
You had mostly forgotten about your wound until you got back to the compound and tried to walk to your room. Steve called out for you. “Hey y/n, can I talk to you for a second?” You turned around to him. “Sure, I guess.” You slowly walked over to the couch and Steve followed, sitting next to you. “You did a pretty stupid thing today. Running into danger like that.” You scoffed. “Now you’re scolding me? I know it was stupid but i got it done.” He sighed and rubbed his forehead. “You got shot. I think you should take a break from missions for a while.” You looked at him, in shock. Just then, your emotions you had bottled up just exploded like a volcano. “ITS NOT MY FAULT. I’M SORRY I’M SUCH A HUGE LET DOWN TO YOU GUYS. I’M JUST TRYING TO BE BETTER.” Then, the tears came. Steve was shocked for a few seconds then he pulled you into a comforting hug, being careful of your wound. “I’ve just had a terrible week and i hate it. You’re right, I shouldn’t have done that.” He sighed and rubbed your hair. “Y/n, your like a daughter to me. Well, you practically are my daughter. Anyways, you’re the best person I’ve ever seen in my life. You’re so inspirational and you’re doing great things. You don’t have to better yourself.” You smiled and wiped your tears. He smiled at you and looked at your wound. “Let’s go get Bruce to check out your wound and make sure you don’t have an infection.” You smiled and laughed a little laugh. You were glad to have such a good father figure in your life
A/n: i hope you like it. also, i got the ‘reader running into battle like an idiot’ part from my little 8 year old cousin. on fortnite, he runs straight to the bad guys and gets himself killed most of the time. he’s iconic though

No one's POV
Year 845: The day when wall Maria fell
"(Y/N)! Thomas! It's time for breakfast!" Gloria shouted from the dining room. Thomas, (Y/N)'s father, was sitting with (Y/N) in the living room. One of them busy with paperwork and the other with an interesting book borrowed from Erwin. (Y/N) didn't have training sessions with Erwin for a while, as he was on an expedition. He was supposed to return by now, but, he would be going to Wall Rose directly. (Y/N) kept her book down and followed her father out of the room to the dining room. "(Y/N), I cooked potato pancakes for you. Aren't they your favourite?" Gloria, (Y/N)'s mother told (Y/N) with a smile.
"Thank you" (Y/N) said softly, with her usual frown etched up on her face. It pained both Gloria and Thomas (L/N) that their adoptive daughter, no, they saw (Y/N) as nothing less than their own child, couldn't show emotions properly. It started after the incident with Jacob, one that they regretted ever since it happened. Only if they had the faintest idea of what that wretched man was doing to their beloved daughter... They consulted doctors from wall Rose to make sure (Y/N) is back to normal but the doctors only told them to be careful and not let (Y/N) get hold sharp objects.
They assumed (Y/N)'s aggression had something to do with her past in the underground, much like her self harming habits. They didn't know, however, that this would only push (Y/N) away from them. It's true that (Y/N) couldn't show emotions properly, but, that didn't mean the (L/N)s would love her any less. The day passed by normally, and just as Gloria was washing their plates for lunch, with the help of (Y/N), there was the sound of a huge explosion. "Gloria, stay with (Y/N) inside the house. I'll go see what that was" Thomas told the two of them before getting out. They waited for about fifteen minutes before a Garrison soldier knocked at their home.
"The wall of Shiganshina is breached! Gloria-san, your husband is helping with the evacuation. We need you to go to the barracks and gear up." the soldier said hastily. "Okay. Cadet Schultz, take (Y/N) to the evacuation boats. I'll catch up later" Gloria told him calmly. (Y/N) was witnessing everything. She knew enough about titans. She read about them in the books of Erwin's library. "Mom, I want to go with you" she told Gloria. Gloria looked at (Y/N)'s eyes, surprised that her eyes showed more emotions than she ever saw her express. There was fear, concern, love... "Honey, it's dangerous. I promise I'll be back before you know it with your dad." Gloria smiled as she felt (Y/N) hug her tightly. She knew that the chances of making through this was low. Very low. "Go now. We will be fine." she told (Y/N) before sending her off to the boats.
(Y/N) was sitting on the boat, hugging her legs. There were too many people here and she couldn't see any of her parents. There were no other soldiers here on this boat. "Maybe the soldiers are coming on a different boat?" (Y/N) thought. When the boat docked in Wall Rose, (Y/N) saw Erwin Smith standing there on the dockyard. She pushed through the crowd to go to him. When she reached him, she asked, "Are my mom and dad okay? Where are they?". "(Y/N), we don't have news about the soldiers fighting there yet. We will know by the next day. Right now, I need you to come with me. You won't be staying with the refugees as it is not safe. I arranged a home for you. You'll get good food, good clothes and a good place to sleep there." Erwin explained with a smile.
(Y/N) held his hand and went to the place he mentioned. It was a government run orphanage. Erwin mentioned that he had to pay money to let them take an extra child at this time. The matron looked like a kind motherly looking woman to (Y/N). "Be nice to everyone. Okay? I'll bring news about your parents as soon as I can." Erwin told (Y/N) with a kind smile before he left. (Y/N) remembered that something like this happened before.
"Don't be scared. You are safe now. No one will hurt you again." the blonde man told (Y/N) as he used a hairpin to unlock her cuffs. (Y/N) was huddled into a corner, scared that these men will take advantage of her like every other time. "It's okay. Everything will be okay. What's your name dear?" he asked with the same kind smile. "(Y/N)" (Y/N) managed to croak out. "Nice to meet you, (Y/N). I'm Erwin. Everything is going to be okay." he said, smiling. Everything didn't become okay.
"Was it happening again?" (Y/N) thought. "No. It can't be happening. They promised me that they will be back" (Y/N) brushed away the thought.
The next day
It was dawn. (Y/N) was sleeping on the bed assigned to her. The other children didn't talk to her yet as she spent most of her time in the matron's office. The matron was an amazing woman. She was nice to (Y/N), tried to give her as mental support as possible and made food almost as tasty as her mother. "(Y/N) dear? Wake up. Erwin Smith is here..." the matron called (Y/N), her face concerned. The whole orphanage was quiet, none of the other children were awake yet. (Y/N) walked towards the matron's office with the matron, a walk that seemed to go on for eternity. When she reached, (Y/N) saw Erwin sitting there, looking tired. "(Y/N)..." he started but (Y/N) interjected by saying, "They are dead, aren't they?".
There was no visible emotions in (Y/N)'s eyes. After all, she felt dead. Just her body was still functioning. It happened again. "Yes. Your parents died heroically, saving many citizens with their lives" Erwin told her, trying to make her proud. "They broke their promise. They left me too. They are no different from other people. They are just as bad as everyone else." (Y/N) stated, as if she was in a daze. "(Y/N), I'm sorry.." Erwin tried to say but (Y/N) stopped him. "It's not your fault, uncle Erwin. It's them." she told him, before walking to the bathroom. "I need something sharp..." she thought as she searched the bathroom for a blade.
A week later
The matron introduced (Y/N) to the other children as she decided that (Y/N) couldn't curl up in her office with a book forever. After all, (Y/N) was a permanent resident. There were twenty other children in the small orphanage. (Y/N) of course, didn't give any heed to their names at first because, of course, it was all pointless. What was the point of being alive anyway? What did she have left? Except her uncle Erwin? She was sure that he was strong enough to deal with her death anyway. He was the one who made her as strong as she is now.
It's because of him, she's still fighting. After the matron went away, telling (Y/N) to talk to the other kids, (Y/N) simply went to a corner of the room and start reading the book in her hand. It was the books and the agony in her body from the cuts she made on herself that kept her mind at bay from the death of her parents. She, of course, stole bandages from the matron's office to keep the bleeding at bay so that she wouldn't die. The cuts weren't too deep, just deep enough to sting for a whole day and heal up. She just had to make more cuts after it healed up.
"Oi brat, you think a newbie like you can just sit and read shit without working?" a young boy, much bigger than (Y/N) walked towards her, with another girl and a boy with him, all of them bigger than her. (Y/N) merely looked up from the book with a vacant expression. "Don't give me this look, you shit! Go do the dishes!" he shouted. "Isn't the matron supposed to assign chores? I remember doing mine this morning." (Y/N) answered to him calmly. "Listen, newbie, we make the rules here. Go do the dishes!" the leader of the group tried to speak in a menacing voice.
"I refuse to do it unless the matron asks me to" (Y/N) simply answered but just as she did, the boy took the book from her hand and tore it in half. "You two, get her" he ordered the other two kids who started kicking (Y/N). (Y/N) could’ve easily beaten them up but she remembered the advice from Erwin. "Be nice to everyone" he said. (Y/N) didn't flinch even when they hit her in the areas with cuts, she was accustomed to pain. After all, she always had these habits and also went through training with Erwin.
These went on for a week. When those kids, Sean (the leader), Lena (the girl) and Paul (the other boy) found out that (Y/N) doesn't react to beatings, they started picking up on her in different ways. One day, they poured horse shit in her drawer full of clothes. The other day, they burnt all her books. (Y/N) still didn't move from her decision to do their chores for them. After a week, Erwin came to visit. Erwin decided to visit (Y/N) every week, to brush up on her training. Her training was complete before the fall of wall Maria, but, he still decided to spar with her sometimes, so that she wouldn't loose her practice.
Erwin also was fond of the small girl, almost as if she was his own daughter. It's true, Pixis asked him to train her in the first place and also got (Y/N) the place in the orphanage using his power in Trost, however, as Erwin trained her, he realized that she was going to be a deadly weapon if she ever joined the military, or the survey corps. Erwin, however, wasn't keen on her joining the survey corps due to the mortality rate. He didn't want (Y/N) to die as she was almost like the daughter he never had. Erwin was a ruthless person but, (Y/N) seemed to be one of the very few soft spots he had. As he sat in the matron's office, he saw a calm but angry looking (Y/N) enter the room. He figured something was wrong. "(Y/N), is everything okay?" was his first question to her.
"I don't like this place." (Y/N) simply replied. "Why is it? Did someone bother you?" Erwin asked, concerned. (Y/N) explained everything that happened in the past week to Erwin. "Why didn't you fight back then?" Erwin asked, quiet surprised that (Y/N) took a few beatings. (Y/N) wasn't the type of person who would take beatings without counterattacking. At least that was how it was during training. "You told me to be nice to everyone" (Y/N) grumbled. "Well, did you complain to the matron?" Erwin asked. "I did. She scolded them but that only increased the problem" (Y/N) explained.
"I see. Well, I know I told you to be nice to everyone but that doesn't mean you won't use self defence when required." Erwin advised. "So, I can beat them up?" (Y/N) asked, with an evil glint in her eyes. "Yes but stay in your limits. Don't make any permanent injury." Erwin said cautiously. (Y/N) was still a kid and kids couldn't be trusted much when they are angry. "Oh don't worry. I'll just scare them a bit." (Y/N) answered with a sly smile that worried Erwin even more. With that, they went to a nearby field to brush up on the training by sparring.
That night, (Y/N) sneaked into the matron's office to find a stack of newspapers. She saw the stack in the matron's shelf before when she took a book from there when she first arrived. After searching for a while, she found the newspaper she was looking for, the one from 6 years back. The one with the news of the murder of Jacob. After taking the newspaper, (Y/N) sneaked into the kitchen to get a knife.
She walked into the boy's dormitory to find Sean sleeping on his bed. "Oi, Sean" (Y/N) called out. "Huh? What?" Sean got up, still sleepy. "What the hell are you doing here. Are you really itching to get beaten?" he growled after seeing it was (Y/N) who called him. "I don't intend to have a single scratch by you on my body, Sean. However, I can't say the same for you" (Y/N) answered, putting in a psychotic smile on her face as she brought her knife out in the open as it glinted in the moonlight coming from the window in the room. The whole room of boys were awake now. (Y/N) suddenly threw the knife backwards, which stuck to a bed post along with the fabric of the night shirt of Paul near his hand, thus keeping his hand in place.
Paul was white with fear as it happened and (Y/N) simply said, "Paul, don't try to move or come at me with the knife. It's going to get in your stomach in that case". She then threw the Newspaper at the now intimidated Sean's face before saying, " Read the headline.". The whole room of boys were watching, scared by (Y/N)'s sudden change in demeanour. "8 year old brutally kills soldier". Sean read before pausing. "(Y/N) (L/N), an 8 year old child from the Shiganshina district, killed Jacob Meyer, a garrison soldier from Thomas (L/N), (Y/N) (L/N)'s adoptive father's squad. Jacob's eyes were gauged out and throat was slit and his head was almost severed by what seemed like at least 20 stabs. About (Y/N) (L/N)'s past, all that is known is that she was rescued from a whorehouse in the upper class pleasure district in the underground..." Sean continued but his voice faded.
(Y/N)'s picture was drawn on the newspaper. They had no idea who they were messing with. "Well, that's enough. Now answer me, who else wants to end up like that piece of garbage?" (Y/N) asked in a cold voice. No one answered. "That's a good choice. Now," (Y/N) started as she moved towards Paul and pulled the knife out of the bedpost, "all of you, don't mention that I was here tonight. And yes, no one will be listening to these two worthless garbage here anymore or their so called friend. No one will do one extra work than what's assigned to them by the matron. Am I clear?" (Y/N) finished. Some kids were crying as they were intimidated but all of them nodded or muttered yes. "Good. Oh, and, don't bother me when I'm reading. Just leave me alone okay?" (Y/N) told before leaving the room with the newspaper and the knife so that she can keep those in place again without anyone realising.
Year 847:
It had been two years since (Y/N) started living in the orphanage. After that day, no one messed with (Y/N) again, and, no one listened to those three bullies ever again either. However, every good thing always came to an end. "Commander Smith, (Y/N) is already 16 years old. She's an adult now and we usually look for a groom for anyone who is of age in our orphanage. If you gave me the permission, I would've looked for someone suitable" the matron told Erwin. Erwin was called to the orphanage after (Y/N)'s so called 16th birthday according to her birth certificate. "Well, I suppose? I just didn't think that she will get married so soon..." Erwin started but (Y/N), who was also sitting in the room and listening to the conversation, stopped him and said, "Exactly. I am not getting married so soon.".
"But (Y/N), you're of age and it's against orphanage policies..." the matron started but was interrupted by (Y/N) as she said, "I understand that. I'm joining the military.". "(Y/N), you are not joining the military." Erwin simply answered. "Why not? Am I not of age? Am I not allowed to make decisions now? If I'm old enough to get married, why am I not allowed to join the military?" (Y/N) asked casually. "(Y/N), it's dangerous unless if you join the military police." Erwin sighed. He knew where it was going. "You really think I will join the military police, Uncle Erwin? I'm joining the Survey Corps. I'll kill those bastards who took my parents away from me." (Y/N) said as the matron shouted, "Language (Y/N)!".
"Very well. I have to ask you though, (Y/N). Could you die if you're asked to?" Erwin asked (Y/N). "Depends on why you are asking me to die. If the reason is valid enough, then I am ready." (Y/N) answered. "Well, (Y/N), on missions, I can't look out after you. I might have to send you to your death if required because on expeditions, I'm your commander, not your uncle." Erwin told (Y/N) coldly. "I understand." (Y/N) answered. She enlisted to the 104th trainee corps the next day. "I won't let myself be hurt again" she thought as she wore her uniform, leaving the orphanage for good. The (Y/N) from four years back didn't know that it will keep happening again (Jacob) and again (death of parents) and again (death of squad Levi) and... Again...
To be continued...

I think I've never been that ready to break some skulls before. I took more weapons than usual, having two on my hips, two others on my thighs and finally, two again in my shoulder straps. I've never been a huge fan of knives, but still got one joining the strap on my leg.
Ran and Rindou were ready, Ran still had his unfamous baton. The others, Kakucho, Koko, Sanzu and Akashi, had guns like I did, ready to pull them out if needed.
Looking over Dante and his men, I noticed the same thing. But one of them looked particularly heavily armed.
Hey Dante, he's your sniper isn't he?
Yeah, we always bring one with us, someone who could change the course of our lives from afar. Also Manjiro, if I can call you that?
Nodding, I got inside the van, him sitting by my side.
Perfecto then. La Cosa Nostra bases its values and morals on their allies. Back in Osaka, I didn't intend to kill you nor severely hurt you. I hope it didn't bring too many inconveniences yeah?
Nothing I'm not used to. But I appreciate your help and concern though
Did you change your hair for your girl?
Cocking an eyebrow at him, I stayed silent.
My girl?
She is, isn't it? Look, I wanted to talk to you last time but I needed to check your strength before. We have minutes ahead so listen to me. In our family (note: the term family refers to the mafia here), women play an important role, and I'm not talking about their pussy. In La Cosa Nostra, we're not ashamed of parading with our girls, our wives. Some of us even have children, like me. I don't understand since when being with a woman in the underground scene made you look weak. Women give you strength, something to fight for. I don't know you very much, but I know how to spot an enamoured man. You're deep into it Manjiro. We have nothing but genuine intentions with Bonten, and we want our allies to be healthy and happy. If I could give you a piece of advice, when your girl will be freed, and I'm saying your girl because she's not a bitch or an animal, tell her how you feel. Life is short as the falling of snow, you could die tomorrow. Don't live with regrets buddy, that's the worst, trust me. Cherish the moments you've with her alright?
After his monologue, Dante smiled cheekily at me, patting my thigh. He wasn't wrong, I knew that. I knew that I'd feelings for Vee, but I was afraid she didn't. I let her enter my life and warm my heart of stone, and it could seem selfish but I didn't want to let her go, never.
You don't have to he ashamed of having feelings for a woman, or a man if that mattered. Partners influence our decisions on a daily basis, and without women in La Cosa Nostra, let me tell you, it would be a mess. They keep us on tracks, scold us when needed. My wife, showing me his ring right after, is my everything. She keeps me sane, Manjiro.
My men were in the other cars and only Dante and I, except our driver, were here.
I don't want to bring her in this life, she doesn't need more-
Sorry to break it to you buddy, but she's already deep enough. Her face is all over the news, you must have seen that yeah? Nodding at him, I kept my gaze on the window.
Then you know, the best thing you can do now is protect her from your world, by staying by her side. That way, these events won't occur ever again. The Yamaguchi-gumi is pulling a nasty move right now. Ones of our few rules are; never look at friends wives; respect wives. The Yamaguchi-gumi disregarded all of them.
Venus isn't my wife.
But you want her to be yours don't you?
Silence settling between us, I tried to imagine myself with her, having a future together.
Do you see a future with her ?
... yes
Here you go. When she'll be saved, you'll have to present her to me, the kitten seems feisty enough to make you go crazy for her
Smiling a bit at his words, I took a decision. As soon as this shit is over, Vee will move in with me. Officially this time. And I won't prevent her from having her life, I'll give her the freedom she wants and needs.
My phone vibrating into my pocket, I took it out. Vee?
But what I heard after made my blood boil. She was screaming, begging me to come and save her. Eyes opened wide at the sound playing in the car, I gripped the phone tightlty, breaking it in the process. Gritting my teeth, I lowered my face down, nails tearing the skin of my palms open.
I'm gonna kill them all, I swear to god, these bastards will regret the day they were born.
Dante's hand on my shoulder, I turned to him.
We'll get them. No one touches our wives, remember? You even dyed your hair to please her. They'll pay for it, no worries Manjiro.
And that's precisely when we arrived. Opening the van's door, I was met with my executives. Ran and Sanzu had a wicked smile on their faces. These two will probably have fun.
Destroy them. I don't want any of them alive at the end of the day. I don't fucking care how you process, break their neck, pierce their eyes, rip their bodies apart or burn them to hell, I want blood. Understood?
And as I gave them my orders, they bowed.
Your wish is our command, boss.
-Mikey
I've changed the presentation, it's easier to understand that way 😌
it’s so nice!
The pain had me passing out, waking up only from the slaps my torturer, who so generously told me to call him Koda gave me. I’d wake up, see the handle of the knife sticking out of my bloody, trembling thigh, get woozy and faint.
This time when I woke up, I didn’t even get to follow the routine established between us because Koda was in my face, gripping my cheeks roughly. It hurt from all his prior roughness, his finger edging closely to the lip he had split. C’mon, Vee. You know I don’t want to hurt you. Just tell me what you know. I’ll even let you go.
I knew nothing, just like I told him every time he asked, but since he wanted a different reaction, I’d give it to him. Nodding my head, I watched his face slack into a grin as he let mine go, granting me free rein to speak and move my head. The first thing I did with it was cock my head far back and send it slamming into his own, head butting the shit out of him. The impact made my vision blur for a bit, but the sickening crack I heard made it all worth it.
Venus, I corrected, spitting blood onto his now-bleeding nose. I might have broken it. It’s Venus to you, you piece of shit.
You stupid bi— Gunshots. An entire slew of them. Natalie burst into the room, body slick with sweat, eyes wide and nervous.
They’re here! Bonten’s here! My heart leaped. Mikey? They found out about our hideout much earlier than we expected them to! The sound of rapid fire rounds echoed around us, each one sounding closer than the last. If they kept that up, they’d be in this room in no time. The thought of Mikey raining hell down on their skulls made me much happier than I thought it would. They deserved it. I hope they got it. My cackle, sudden and wheezy, startled both Nat and Koda.
I stared Natalie dead in my eyes as I calmed down. You should run, I advised her. She had endangered my life twice, and although I would probably have little say in what happens to her now—she’d burnt too many bridges; Mikey wouldn’t hesitate to put a hole in her skull— so the least I could give her was a head start. You might be able to get out of here if you run now, because if Mikey gets his hands on you… I don’t even allow myself the pleasure of blinking as I speak, wanting my words to resonate deeply with her. So much so that even if she survived, she’d see my face. He will kill you, and I won’t be able to stop him. And you know the worst part, Nat? I don’t think I’ll want to.
The fear in her eyes was palpable like it was that day in the hideout, but I had no sympathy left to offer her. I also could have told her what Koda told me, let her know she’d done this all in vain, but I didn’t, allowing her to walk out of the door and my life for what just might be the very last time.
So, Koda, I turned my head back to look at him pacing. What’s the move? You gonna run too?
Somebody else came flying through the room as I asked him, an underling of his perhaps, yelling the same question I had just asked him in more or less words and a much louder volume. They’re coming, Koda! We have to go!
A certain bang made even me jump. It sounded like it was just around the corner from us.
What’re you gonna do, Koda?
I’m gonna fucking kill you, he snarled, putting the cold nozzle of a gun he yanked from his pocket to my head.
I tried to hide my dread with fearlessness. I don’t mind that, you’ll be coming to keep me company wherever I end up in five minutes. Maybe less.
I could hear the gun clicking as he turned off the safety, eyes level with me. I was about to die, and the funniest part was I wasn’t afraid. Perhaps I knew deep down that even if I did, I’d be avenged. That nobody who tortured me or sought to hurt me would leave this place with their lives or their limbs perfectly in tact. I don’t know what kind of person that made me, but with this gun to my brain, I don’t think I’d have much time to ponder it.
Mikey flashed in my head, my last memories with him. I didn’t even get to kiss him goodbye. I’d have to add that to my never ending list of regrets, not telling him how much he had come to mean to me in such a short time. That he mattered, that he wasn’t cursed. That he deserved to be happy.
A small smile came across my face as our memories played out in my mind. We had come so far, and I was proud of it. If it all came down to it, I lived an overall good life with some really big lows. Pretty alright for me.
Kill them, Manji, is the last wish I made to myself mentally, making sure it got out before my brain matter was splattered across the wall. Kill them all.
