Then why did things get better
#y'all know how in the beginning of ICID White Noise Will talks about how he's never felt more connected to his audience#i get that he reaaallllyyy wants us to know that Things Are Still Bad#BUT WE ARE STILL VERY AWARE THAT THINGS ARE STILL BAD#reminds me of that tiktok song “a war just broke out overseas but a new award show is on TV”#when was the last time you sat down to watch an awards show#when was the last time you thought about an awards show#and when was the last time you went into a spiral thinking about how horribke the world is#and how corrupt governments and misunderstandings and downright DESPICABLE ACTIONS WITH NO JUSTIFICATION are destroying the workd#i'm gonna bet one of those is a lot more common than the other#Mr. Wood#you give hope#i get if you can't always give it#but don't shy away like a cat looks at a cucumber#i love Will Wood man don't get me wrong my pfp is currently him in a clown nose#but good discussion of an artist's work shouldn't be afraid to dig into The Real Message#ICIMI was the album that let everything loose#all the stuff that he published because he thought he was going to die and he needed to get these songs out#and if there's one thing we should all take away from it#it's that you need to get out of your head#look at reality#and realize that if you are always trying to prune the bad you won't have any branches left

in my eyes, icimi has a lot of songs about love, afterlife, rodents, humanity, and letting go and i think i've loosely conveyed all of those here.
