“Yo, Luke, Prof!” They turned to see Maya racing down the sidewalk, back in her signature robes and sandals, and a small, pink purse slung over her shoulder. She was fast enough that she nearly crashed into them, only sliding to a stop at the last second with pinwheeling arms to keep her balance. “Sorry I’m late! I accidentally went down the wrong street and got a bit lost. Hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long.” In truth, she didn’t. The two of them had only been since five minutes before nine, and much of the wait had been spent solving puzzles. “Not to worry, Ms. Fey. Accidents happen all the time, especially when you’re not in a city you’re familiar with.” Pausing, Hershel looked behind the girl.

Turning, Des watched his brother and nephew interact with their new friends. Maya planted a kiss on Clive's cheek and the boy made a face, exaggeratedly wiping the spot with his sleeve while Maya laughed at him.

Hershel was smiling, hands casually behind his back as he talked to Mr. Wright, who was grinning sheepishly.

But Hershel's fingers were fidgeting and his gaze was soft in a way Des had only seen in old pictures of his brother's university days.

Mr. Wright rubbed at his neck, face flushing slightly and Hershel laughed, ducking his head.

"Oh." Des groaned. "Oh no."

How should I go about writing the Professor Layton antics into "I Beg Your Pardon?" series?

So for I have a the very few people that follow me for my PLvsPW fic fic, "I Beg Your Pardon?"

You see, my initial plan was to focus solely on the Professor and Luke reacting to all the shenanigans Maya and Phoenix have gone through in their canon timeline. However, I have had some people express interest in Phoenix and Maya reacting to some of the stuff the Professor and Luke have gone through.

I never really planned it, but I feel bad about some people wanting it when I'm unsure how to go about it. So I want to ask you guys how you would like the series to go since I have a few options.

Option 1: I continue "I Beg Your Pardon?" as an AA-focused fic and have a sequel fic called, "Wait, What?" set a few months later. In it, Phoenix and Maya were subpoenaed to come back to London to help in the legal case of Labyrinthia, since I added the plot point of there being A LOT of legal trouble (this was really just because of a personal gripe since I've spent an entire summer taking an ethics training course for experimenting. And yes I know it shouldn't matter because it's a kid's game but WE ARE PLAYING A CHARACTER WHO DEALS WITH THE LAW, LET THERE BE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES, DAMMIT!)

Option 2: I have keep this fic to one fic and just have certain chapters in "I Beg Your Pardon?" be dedicated to PL backstory stuff.

Option 3: Don't bother writing the PL backstory and jump from "I Beg Your Pardon?" to the fic idea of the Professor helping a disbarred Phoenix find out who framed him, and have those plot points come up there (link to the relevant posts for those who want to know the idea)

Hello!

For now, it's supposed to be solely the AA side of the crossover. I did a poll a while back because I wanted to see what fans' preference was for the direction of the fic was. I knew many wanted Phoenix and Maya to react to the stuff Layton and Luke went through.

Most people voted for it to be kept to AA and have a sequel story called "Wait, What?" that handles the PL half of the series, so we'll get it eventually!

So for anyone curious about my PLvsPW fic, “I Beg Your Pardon?”

Timeline-wise, it takes place in May 2019, post T&T and AAI-1, and Post-Azran Legacy but Pre-Curious Village. Yeah, I know that Phoenix gets disbarred in April 2019, but canon divergence exists for a reason! It’s also because I want this fic to set up a sequel where the Professor helps Phoenix figure out who framed him for forged evidence (and set up Laywright stuff too). Also, side note, the bonus DLC stuff from PLvsPw is not canon in the fic :P

I don’t have a concise schedule because of IRL stuff and depression, so it’s kinda vague when the next chapter will be (but some of it is already written).

I have some ideas as to what certain chapters will be about (in no particular order) (spoilers for Ace Attorney Trilogy, yo): 

The number of times Phoenix and Maya have been arrested (next chapter)

Phoenix’s death-defying 40 foot fall from a burning bridge into a river

Phoenix’s rivals (and they’re violent court etiquette)

Maya’s spirit channeling

The Magatama

Defending both the Steel Samurai and Nickel Samurai

Eating a glass necklace with traces of poison in it

Getting jumped on by a lion and a monkey (Turnabout Big Top)

Phoenix being an art major 

Mia’s murder

Dahlia Hawthorne (most definitely towards the end and hinted throughout)

Bridge to Turnabout (again, probably towards the end since this would be pretty fresh for both Maya and Nick)

Furio Tigre impersonating Nick

Getting amnesia after getting hit in the head by a fire extinguisher
