My pelvic floor PT taught me a different technique than the ones described here. She told me to start with 10 diaphragmatic breaths, then rest your right hand on your lower right abdomen for 10 more diaphragmatic breaths. Then make radial motions from your navel across your belly in every direction, like you're drawing the sun, as many times as feels right. Then knead yourself like a cat would, starting low on the left and pressing toward your groin, moving your hands incrementally up your belly and still pressing toward the groin, then switching to the right side & pressing towards your ribs when you get to the top of your belly. After massaging each of the left quadrants, slide your hand down the whole quadrant. After massaging the top right quadrant, slide your hand upwards and across the top of your belly. Slide your hand upwards after the lower right quadrant. Then, starting at the bottom right and moving counterclockwise, press & slide your hand across your whole colon 10 times. Her thinking is that it's like a traffic jam, and to clear a traffic jam you'd want to move the cars in front first.
She told me to do this massage before bed so that I'll have a good BM when I wake up for the day; we do a lot of our digestion overnight. Sometimes it takes me 10 minutes, sometimes it's more like 30; it depends on how "knotted" and gassy my guts are. It's quite effective at getting gas out immediately, and it definitely helps some with stool, though I'm still much more likely to have a BM late at night rather than soon after getting up, cuz that's just how my guts work.

time management
time management is all about planning and controlling how you spend your time to be more efficient and productive. some key strategies to help you manage your time better include:
・prioritize tasks: identify what's most important and tackle those tasks first. you can use methods like the eisenhower matrix to categorize tasks by urgency and importance.
・set goals: having clear, achievable goals can help you stay focused and motivated. break down larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks.
・create a schedule: plan your day or week in advance. allocate specific time blocks for different activities and stick to your schedule as much as possible.
・avoid multitasking: focus on one task at a time. multitasking can reduce your efficiency and increase the chances of making mistakes.
・take breaks: regular breaks can help you stay fresh and maintain high levels of productivity. techniques like the pomodoro technique, which involves working for 25 minutes and then taking a 5-minute break, can be very effective.
・eliminate distractions: identify what distracts you and find ways to minimize these interruptions. this could mean turning off notifications, setting boundaries with others, or creating a dedicated workspace
for example, sometimes i get so caught up with talking to my friends online that i forget to start my homework when i get home. an easy solution is to simply move my phone out of the room.
・review and adjust: regularly review your progress and adjust your plans as needed. this helps you stay on track and make improvements over time.
do you have any specific areas where you struggle with time management?
there are several great time management apps that can help you stay organized and productive. here are a few popular ones:
todoist: a comprehensive app for managing tasks and projects. it’s available on multiple platforms and integrates well with other tools like gmail and slack.
toggl track: ideal for tracking work hours and managing schedules. it’s great for freelancers and small businesses.
forest: a unique app that uses a gamified approach to help you stay focused. you grow a virtual tree by staying on task, and if you get distracted, the tree dies.
notion: an all-in-one workspace that combines notes, tasks, and project management. it’s highly customizable and great for both personal and team use.
clockify: a free time tracking app that helps you track work hours across projects. it's useful for individuals and groups.
trello: a visual tool for organising tasks and projects using boards, lists, and cards. it’s great for collaboration and keeping track of multiple projects.
thanks for reading! remember, mastering time management is a journey, not a destination. stay focused, stay organized, and make every moment count.
feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need more tips!

Hullo!! Just wanted to give a belated thank you for all the well wishes, I really appreciate them all :'D I definitely seem to be on the mend! I've been having an...interesting health time this year, but I'm working on it. I've started getting more sleep, at least, which is helping — sleep deprivation makes my digestive issues way, way worse. And also makes it more likely that I'll get sick in general aksjdfksjdf
But yeah, anyway! With luck I will be able to get more things done this week, as long as I can avoid making my body rebel against me again!
#I have had IBS for around eight years now and yet I still struggle to manage it sometimes aksdjfksdjf#not sure if there are food triggers I'm missing or if it's just a combination of stress and sleep and other environmental issues#ah well#...I also need to be more careful when I'm exhausted lol I injured my right hand twice this week#one while trying to cook and one while trying to unhook my cat's claw from a blanket he was stuck on#I need that hand for drawinggg#senhart rambles#health mention

The Role of Sleep in Managing IBS and Other Digestive Conditions
Sleep is an essential pillar of health, impacting everything from cognitive function to immune strength. i know i keep this blog mostly positive and i just generally try to be upbeat and cope the best i can. but. at times like this, i am just so exhausted of being chronically ill. i don't know what's wrong with me really. i'm so tired but i'm in too much pain and discomfort to sleep and laying down is definitely not a good idea. i'm just so tired. i've been trying so hard, i don't really know what i did wrong. i'm so tired.
#puppy barks#vent#negative#gerd#ibs#spoonie#chronically ill#i just want to feel physically okay for longer stretches of time. sometimes i really think i'm managing better and then a flare up hits +#and this one is so bad. i feel so awful right now and i just want to sleep
