So I just finished binge watching Something in my Room and OH. MY. DAYS. It is amazing. I think it might be on my top ten list for best Thai bls I've ever watched.
The cast is stellar! I mean they put their whole actorussy into it! Especially Nut, Plan, and Green.
The story is just on another level. As expected, as it's from the same director who gave us the beautiful gem that is Lovely Writer.
Can we talk about Nut Supanut and Green Phongsathorn for a second. I feel like these two actors are so underappreciated and underused. Like their storyline was *chef's kiss*. I was hooked on those three episodes. These two deserve leading roles, man. They don't even have to be paired together. I just want to see them in more leading roles.
And Took Chanokwanun??? Her performance brought me to tears multiple times. The way she expressed the different phases of grief, the love for her son, that fear of abandonment and being left alone... It was so raw and so real and intimate.
There are so many moments like this in the show where I didn't feel like I was watching a Thai drama. Rather, it felt like I was watching an intimate moment between people. At some points, I felt like I was intruding.
I lost my father two months ago. I still remember the sound of grief from my mother the moment she found out, the sound of my own grief. I am still grieving now. There are so many scenes, so many small moments, where these characters are shown in their grieving process and I saw glimpses of myself in such a visceral way.
All of it was so beautiful and just ugh you have to watch it, man.
Don't get it twisted, it isn't perfect. The editing is kinda choppy (if you want any chance of understanding the plot make sure you watch the uncut version otherwise you will be lost), there is an alien side plot that literally made zero sense, and the ad placements will give you whiplash. For me though, it didn't take away from the story. If anything it was a nice break from the very dark and hard to swallow themes.
I honestly cannot recommend this drama enough it is so good. Sosososo good.
If you know any other dramas similar to this one, please let me know. I want to watch more dramas like these!!
Okay ramble over.

After the CheckOut IcexTee special episode, I'm so incredibly salty they didn't give us enough Ice Tee for those 12 shitty episodes. Ice and Tee are so adorable, and even their kisses are so much hotter than Daonuea and Nine! I guess it's because the chemistry between the Ice and Tee actors is really good. They deserve another series to them. FYI though, Boat's desk needs to be sanitized, it has seen too many things.LOL
So, I apologize for taking so long to get to this. The idea of watching more Check Out just kind of... did me in for a while, honestly. But I've finally sat down to take the plunge back in. So you can have a bit more of a live watch. Also, alas, I cannot comment on acting chemistry. Just the plot and characters.
And they really, really should have been given more screen time. They're genuinely adorable and Tee's urge to take care of Ice while Ice is like 'dude, I am capable of caring for myself' is such a nice contrast to how Daonuea handled... everything.
I really did love his little imaginary date with Ice talking about Singapore and the idea of being missed was so very cute it hurt me a little.
Ah, yes, the random part that's not subbed and why I stopped watching the first time around. Why isn't this subbed? I remember getting here and giving in and hoping it would be subbed someday. Nope. But also they're still adorable. Tee is smitten and Ice seems mostly just confused and I appreciate that.
I do deeply appreciate that Ice is just so lost as to Tee hitting on him. What a great contrast to Daonuea and Nine's BS. But poor Tee, he really knows how to pick 'em, doesn't he?
Poor Tee's jealousy and sadness. He spends so much time being heartbroken because he has this awful habit of liking people who either like other people or are just super oblivious to him. I do really like Tee. He's probably still my favorite character from the entire show just as a whole, honestly.
lol and the way Nice just looks at Tee amuses me deeply. Oh, Ice, you're an idiot and Tee definitely knows how to pick them. Poor Tee, the guy he doesn't like has a crush on him and the guy he does like is totally and utterly oblivious to him.
No hesitation, this episode has brought me the most emotion towards the characters in the entire series. Tee asking Ice to stop setting him up with other people and Ice taking that very personally against himself even though it's Tee desperately wanting him... Ugh.
And, of course, an immediate comedy scene to ruin the emotions. Ah, Check Out, you can't help yourself.
I wish we hadn't had such a pointless 'leaving the phone behind' comedy scene. Unneeded.
But otherwise, they really are cute and I wish they'd had more time during the show itself. Working this dynamic in alongside the Daonuea and Nine would have been amazing, honestly. To watch Tee struggle with his love for Daonuea that's falling apart, his growing care for oblivious Ice and then Ice constantly trying to set him up with other people while Tee has already fallen for him... why were we robbed.
The special is definitely the best episode of the series. Pretty much the only part worth watching, tbh.
