Soulmates

This is because of the ship asks isn’t it XD She has one, definitely, and his name is Jaden Yuki! This extends to both romantic and platonic, too.

Honestly, it’s a word even Aoi herself doesn’t think about until Chazz mentions it while under Sartorius’s influence. He’s the reason it’s put into her head in the first place, even if she denies it and teases him over it. It’s not until years after graduation she realizes the truth behind it and really (grudingly) admits he was right.

Even platonic, Jaden is literally her other half; they can read each other like an open book. He’s the first and only man to be able to completely shatter her shell and waltz into her heart and stay there within just hours of meeting her. The only one she’ll run around with hand in hand and sleep with. They spend every night (and just about all of their down time they’re not adventuring, really) flopped on each other to cuddle. Outside of a romantic relationship, he’s the only one who can touch her freely without getting an odd look or her turning defensive - they even just know what the other’s thinking. Even in verses where Elementshipping doesn’t happen, they retain this close bond for the rest of their lives - there’s absolutely nothing that can break it, even if in those verses her romantic soulmate ends up being someone else (Aster/Johan).

But as far as Elementshipping is concerned… It only strengthens their bond and brings them closer together. They already come off to others as dating just by how they are as friends - as actual lovers they only get closer and see their bond deepen. They have enough faith and trust in each other to know they’ll be okay and there for each other, even when he’s traveling and she goes home to Domino. Their home is each other… And they end up finding it and settling down together eventually. It’s even a large part of the reason she simply deals with her intense dislike of Yubel after he fuses with them - He’s her best friend, Her Pup, and she can’t rightfully say she hates them (or Haou) when they’re part of someone she loves dearly.

For Dorkshipping and Destinedshipping, Aster and Johan end up being her romantic soulmates, though she does feel a part of that bond even with Elementshipping in play. Granted it may not evolve into anything past a very tight friendship in that case, but she’s bound to them just as they are her… Although they don’t quite reach the same level as Jaden. Close, but there’s something about having a practical twin in the other Slifer that kindda pushes him up a notch, even if she ends up ridiculously close to and beyond in love with the pro and North Academy boys.
