Why I Donāt Want To Talk About RWBY Again
Yes. She decided to show her face again.
And she will probably instantly regret it.
So, this isn't usually the media I talk about. However, I addressed it in my post 'Is Screen Time An Issue For A Character', where I talked about multiple media to gain a wider perspective on a solid critique point to figure out where this possibly came from? And in terms of the RWBY-related stuff I said there, I got... some honest, fair, completely non-personal attacking feedback. No personal attacks whatsoever.
I thought 'okay, maybe I am wrong' if everyone is so insistent that I am 'incorrect' and what they're saying is 'facts'. We all make mistakes. So I decided to rewatch the show in it's entirety and actually see Volume 9 for myself. I actually hoped that maybe I was wrong and they were right and I could see this show for the masterpiece that it is...
Uh, short answer: Not really...? For the most part, the points I made in the past are still how I feel. (I just didn't word it very well in that post. I'll take the L for that one)
I'm disappointed I learned nothing too. I really wish I did.
Okay, so for my background, I jumped on the train of this show just about a month or two before Volume 6 came out. I got it recommended from a classmate in school who was obsessed. And I thought it was... okay.
And then I got bullied and harassed by the person for the remainder of the school year. Cause I DARED not said it was a masterpiece.
(Yeah, this is a running trend for me)
But with every new Volume from there, I rewatched the show as background noise for homework, to the point where I've at least rewatched it 5-6 times, maybe 7 including this rewatch. But with every rewatch where I actually noticed certain details... the certain volume would get a little worse. (Except for one case)
Maybe it's because I'm a jerk. I've been called that more than once.
Maybe it's because Celtic Phoenix's rewrites of the show are a thing. But thatās also a topic for discussion here.
But I know the exact point when I abandoned the show for over two years. When Volume 8 came out.
It was... it was a miserable viewing experience for me. And for me, this was my last straw with the show and I fell to the dark side. There were so many production problems where I could see why it turned out the way it did. There were so many decisions with the plot that I did not agree with.
And the biggest reason why I left. And this is a thing that's been consistent anytime I engaged with the show in any way. And the reason WHY I donāt feel safe talking about this show.
The fandom is terrifying.
It's not as bad as the Dhar Mann situation, I don't think, but it's still a nightmare to engage with.
There are so many toxic entitled people online that feel the need to bully and harass anyone who says ANYTHING about the show that isn't 'I think this was handled perfectly'. You say anything even slightly neutral, or even hint that you may not think perfection, you will get cyberbullied.
And I MEAN THAT when I say cyberbullying, you get personally attacked, you get cursed at a lot, you get accused as homophobic and misogynistic, and you get double bullied and ganged up on when you ask for feedback towards you to be impersonal and focused on the work itself. There is NO breather to this.
People just really love to attack every single being they can find. Over a CARTOON.
If this was some real life documentary or something, then I would get it.
But this is a FICTIONAL SHOW.
It's very unwelcoming and it's miserable for people like me to engage with these people as a result.
NO, I AM NOT SAYING EVERYONE IS LIKE THIS. I'm sure there are still good civilized decent people in this fanbase. But the ones that are like that are the loudest.
There's also a 'hate-fandom' spawned. Which I also despise cause it's basically just the same thing but the opposite approach. And why are you even tearing apart something as sport? That's sick. Do something else with your time. Do literally anything else.
You have to pick a side.
Either you love the show, if you don't you're a horrible person.
Or you hate the show, if you don't you're a horrible person.
THIS is the real reason why I left the show.
And the fact that I'm even daring to say this guarantees that I will get backlashed.
At least I anticipate that this time. (But I'm just gonna ignore this behavior and I will only respond to people who keep things impersonal and just focus on the content. I don't care if you have a valid point against what I say, if you personally attack me or anyone else, and act like you know me, I won't listen to you. It doesn't make you better than me, it's cyberbullying.)
For the sake of this rant post, I am OPTING OUT of the idea that 'I have to love the show or hate the show'.
I'm a neutral saying my perspective as a neutral.
And I will say that as long as you're not a cyberbullying racist/sexist/homophobic piece of garbage, your opinions towards this show is VALID in my book.
If you think this is the best show of all time, that's VALID.
If you think this is the worst show of all time, that's VALID.
If you disagree with either of those two statements, then you can leave my post right now.
I am not going to take either side, as I really donāt want to. I am not the type of person to be openly happy all the time, as when I feel any emotion at all I will say it. And I am not going to hide my emotions to make other people happy. Thatās not who I am.
But I also donāt want to be seen by the public as a hardcore complainer for that. Spending all your time whining is just exhausting and tiring and unrewarding, when you could be doing literally anything else, and healthier stuff, with your time. I should know. I used to criticize Dhar Mann videos. While those were worth critiquing it cause multiple mental health problems for me. So I stopped and did other stuff with my life.
So really, if I were to pick a side, either one, it would be doing injustice to my character. And the fact that people have to be split in fandom sections for a single show is insane. Iād be harassed endlessly no matter what.
And harassment like this over a cartoon is just not worth it. Even if you try to calmly explain yourself and defuse a fight, youāre not gonna be heard. Theyāll just keep arguing until you reluctantly confess to their side. Which is gaslighting.
And this is a both sides issue. So you know. Again, Iām not picking sides when I say this.
This is not a āthis side good ; this side badā issue.
At that point it has nothing to do with the show itself, or a rewrite of said show that some people made.
Fixing RWBY, that rewrite project on YouTube, is not immune to criticism. Itās not better than the original show. Itās not worse than the original show. Itās just a thing that exists. Like all rewrites do. This whole project is just a group of people approaching a story in their own writing style, like fanfiction tends to do. Itās really just a group of artists and writers coming together to play around and have fun.
So obviously that makes this project a crime against nature and a product made out of pure evil spite. /s
FIXING?! FIXING a show? HOW MALICIOUS CAN YOU BE?! YOU DARE IMPLY THAT YOU THINK THE SHOW ISNT PERFECT AS IS?!
Now, take note, I myself HAVE seen the entirety of this fan project. I have my own problems with it, and it certainly did not fix everything. But I can also safely back up that SOME PEOPLE are fat liars with their critiques on this project.
Thereās being critical, and thereās lying.
Thatās it. Thatās all Iām saying about certain users. Because this isnāt really a āone person is entirely to blameā problem so I donāt want to pin blame on one user.
And the worst part about all that is that itās one thing to be a critic towards anyoneās work, you know, looking at their work and giving feedback. Itās another to act like this is personal.
It stops being about the show and more about throwing around accusations on people as though you personally know them.
News flash: ten to one, you donāt.
And itās not just me. There are multiple blog users and YouTubers who said their peace on this and said the same things Iām saying. People will go out of their way to personally insult and harass neutrals to make sure their point sticks and they take it to heart. Because if itās about the person and not the work, they have to change their mind, right? No one wants to be called a gross human being after all.
Thatās not how that works. This is why if you go to my blog you see me more often than not making posts about other media. Not because I think these shows are better than RWBY (Iāve criticized them plenty as well, criticisms that I think are deserved), but because I feel more welcome in their fandomsā¦?
Iām not gonna pretend theyāre perfect, every fandom has some nasty people, but at least Iām not gonna get barraded for every single opinion I have as though my opinions over cartoons are a judgement of my real life character.
Yes people have disagreed with me and given me criticism, but at least itās focused on what Iāve written and the flaws in my logic of writing style. An IMpersonal critique towards me. That gets more through to me than personally insulting everyone and treating everyone that isnāt you like theyāre pure evil.
Even when I try to look at RWBY related tags, itās just this exact stuff.
You say an opinion that isnāt 100% positive? BASH.
You like something about the show? BASH.
You make art of a ship someone else doesnāt like? BASH.
You try to make an analysis post? BASH.
You write a fanfiction? BASH.
You like a fanfiction of the show? BASH.
You donāt like a fanfiction of the show? BASH.
You dare title that fanfiction āfixingā? BASH.
Then people really love to use buzz words fir extra power. āSexistā āRacistā āHomophobicā and all kinds of bad words. Without ever actually hearing an explanation.
You like a certain ship? BASH. YOUāRE HOMOPHOBIC. (Never mind nobody ever said they hoped their ship was canon or said they preferred that ship over a canon one)
You think a villain character is a well written and interesting character? BASH. YOU SUPPORT TERRORISM. (Never mind thereās a difference between agreeing with a characters POV and just liking them as fictional characters)
You like a character that so happens to be male? BASH. YOUāRE SEXIST. (Never mind that no one said they shouldāve been spotlight characters or anything. And the least sexist people donāt even give a shit about the gender of the character)
You donāt like this character? BASH. CLEARLY YOU DONT LIKE THE CHARACTER BECAUSE THEYRE NOT STRAIGHT WHITE MEN.
Completely ignore if the person who says the opinion actually explains WHY they donāt like the character. Completely ignore if they donāt even mention the race, sex, or sexuality of the character once in said explanation. Completely ignore if they even said they like other characters that fit those same categories as the one they didnāt like.
Completely ignore actually checking out the persons blog to see if they like other characters in anything, not just RWBY, that have some sort of diversity to them. Maybe even love those characters and praise them.
Nope. Doesnāt matter. You donāt like one character, clearly you just hate women.
CLEARLY everyone who doesnāt agree with you are dares to say why and how they personally wouldāve done it is a PURE EVIL HUMAN BEING GOING OUT IF THEIR WAY TO SPITE AN ENTIRE COMMUNITY. Donāt even bother hearing the person out or letting them say WHY they feel this way or WHY they changed it, (like the FRWBY writers DO in streams btw) NOPE. PURE EVIL. SOLELY BECAUSE YOU MADE A REWRITE.
Itās not like rewrite fanfiction as a concept is all about people reimagining someone elseās work into their own vision, and multiple fandoms do this with varying intents, whether itās out of fixing a critique they had or trying a different tone or āwhat ifā scenarios or whatever. And again, multiple fandoms do this. (Hell, I did it with Total Dramaās Season 2. I donāt think that show is perfect, either. Far from it.)
But I donāt even trust myself to word this all right, so Iām case you donāt trust my word. Iāll link some people who have said the same things Iām saying but in more detail than I could ever. That way I can avoid plagorism.
Judgemental Critter and Twilight Guardian go VERY in detail of these problems. They go in depth about certain users I donāt feel comfortable talking about myself, they go in depth about how this is a both sides issue, and so much more.
Go look at both of these.
Itās all so unwelcoming and I justā¦ canāt.
I canāt take that.
No one deserves that level of harassment over something so not worth it at the end of the day.
Itās just a show guys.
This isnāt real life propaganda.
This isnāt Election Day.
This isnāt school.
Itās a product designed for entertainment purposes.
You can feel whatever way you want to about it. You donāt deserve to be shut out for however you feel.
I am not a perfect person. That much, I will admit. I will admit to my mistakes when I recognize I make them and try to improve myself. Just like the rest of you, Iām just a normal human on the internet talking about stuff I find interest in. But I will also admit I need to get better at defending myself when I recognize something is just plain bullshit.
Soā¦ yeah. I did a poll on the possibility of me doing commentary posts to expand my blog. I already decided Iām starting that experiment with The Amazing Digital Circusās one episode right now. But I do have a set poll for shows people want me to do commentary on. And RWBY is one of the options. If that wins, then Iād have no choice but to explain all my opinions of the show in as much detail as I could.
No one deserves to feel this unwelcomed and unsupported. Maybe I would talk about the show more if I wasnāt this scared of harassment. But nothing is worth it if itās accompanied by that amount of bashing. It has nothing to do with the show. It has to do with the treatment of said show. Thatās the worst part.
And I personally donāt want to be a part of such an unsupportive and unfulfilling environment. Especially when I can do other stuff with my life.
Maybe I will try to talk about RWBY again one day. Explain my opinions fully. As honestly as possible.
But I KNOW no matter what Iām gonna say, I will NOT be welcomed with warmth, instead with guns pointed at my head.
And to that, Iāll just say, āHit me with your best shotā
*sigh* Welp, if you excuse me, Iām barricading my windows for the mob that I know is gonna come at me for the sins I have committed here.
#rwby#fixing rwby#fandom#No one deserves to feel this unwelcomed#And unsupported#Maybe I would talk about the show more if I wasnāt this scared of harassment#But nothing is worth it#If itās accompanied by that amount of bashing#It has nothing to do with the show#It has to do with the treatment of said show#thatās the worst part

Oh, verbal fight, for sure. I'm so glad for this poll, because I've often imagined myself in the cliche self-insert tenth walker role, for the lols, and specifically the "Yes, Frodo and Sam are going to Mordor alone, and I'm going with them!" version, simply because of how Gollum's behaviour towards Sam - terrible in the Peter Jackson adaptation but not much better in the original books, and only slightly better still in what we got to see in the Bakshi adaptation - pisses me off. (Read: Cattiness is NOT the way to a Frodo Baggins' heart!)
So, naturally, I picture myself white-knighting in Sam's defense. For plot reasons, Frodo has to be the way he is towards Gollum, and Sam needs to put all the energy he has towards (eventually literally) carrying Frodo due to the latter's energy being a hundred percent sapped by Gollum's ex-boyfriend (and let's face it, Gollum did objectively "help" them, but he was taking a share of Frodo's energy as well, in the fees.) But as long as I don't disrupt this, if I'm there with them, there's no reason why I can't have a little face off with Gollum any time he gets a little too high-school-bully.....
The best part is, all I would have to do is yammer on about topics I find interesting; I wouldn't even need to directly insult Gollum! Any time he snubs or takes a jab at Sam, I just butt in, usually non-sequitur, and say, "Funny you should mention that; reminds me of something..." And then I start fangirling about the Orcs (Heads up; mostly Bakshi-centric concepts here). Just how cuddly Ugluk and Grishnakh's dad bods look. How even Orcs with huge beer bellies (that I inevitably digress into how much I'd love to lean against and rub) are so dreamily in shape that they can run for hours, days even, and not even be gasping for breath when they do stop. How much I love the eccentric do's a lot of the Orcs have; is it out of choice or necessity that they style their hair so unevenly, or it is just the grease and matting that makes them look like that? Well, I'll let Gollum know after I've had a chance to ask around. Oh, and let's not forget how wonderfully the dresses so many of them wear, frame their forms. If only more folks would adorn themselves like that... And the best part? Not only is it not considered harassment in Orcish culture to lift up and look, but it's actually deemed one of the most flattering things you can do to someone! Maybe even go into another long digression about how I found this out. (Hint; I wear long dresses and skirts most of the time, myself.)
So, there. Let's have Gollum try that emotional vampirism on for size!
This poll isn't very "silly" or funny, but one thing that always gets me about Lord of the Rings is Frodo's compassion for Smeagol, whether it comes from necessity, pity, or fear that Gollum is a mirror of what he himself will become. In the end, Frodo's compassion saves all of Middle-earth, however inadvertently. But what would you have done? Really, truly, honestly?
Personally, I don't think I could or would be kind to Gollum. I don't think I could even be as tolerant as Sam was. But I am also the sort of person who carefully catches bugs to put them outside rather than squishing them, and whose primary plan in case of armed conflict is "be where the fighting isn't." It's very hard to say what I would have done given the impossible nature of Frodo's task and circumstances, and I'll probably have to do a little soul searching before I can answer my own poll.

women are undereducated for what happens around them
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/dec/06/men-underestimate-level-of-sexual-harassment-against-women-survey
Itās majorly because some people would think the world is full of ready-angels to connect with. And men also lead our mind-process (media and shit) and easily turn to gashlighting tactics. This antiwoman tendences, (where do they come from?) is ready set by men like for ages so now they have no hand no more in doing extra work to set the harmful behavior completely normalized. A girl can go out to a new world completely unaware of the set attitudes just simply on the fact (āfaceā corrected) what type of chromosome they carry. I think the poor, well set, stoneset attitudes needed to be voiced somewhere, somehow, between any type of creature set by the freakish, malicious, sadistic and fairly aphatetic dominant one .
Sometimes a girl person wonāt be sure that what has been was actually a harrasment, but she could have been felt unsafe and uncomfortable, dismissed, etc. Because they wouldnāt be well enlightened to such behaviour, just because such type of abominable culture is only suited to be kept within men in the dark.
Just by only following a single girl on a street is already a harassment (can lead to that or is on the road but whatever, just get effed alright).
Itās only fair to create some form of system to detect this sneakish, irresponsible, immature, dishonorable behavior within men. Similar to how facebook segregates any conversation set by strangers vs your real conversation with ones you certainly have some experienceor willingness to get involved with.Ā Or how you donāt make anyone enter a country,, Jyutrr becAussee Duh, you make them a legal tourist or eff them right off if they do stuff fishy.

No, actually, the lesbophobia has been popping up repeatedly like once every two months even before this topic. It's always something stupid, but that doesn't justify this ridiculous pattern that hints at a deeper issue. A lot of people are now accusing lesbians in the rf community of being quiet about the "harassment" that supposedly came from "their side", but I only just learnt about those particular "blackpilled" blogs (who literally call themselves unfeminist, and some of whom specify that they used to be radfems and left because of the lesbophobia) and I might be a nobody on here but I've been orbiting for ages, which just proves how short the influence of those blogs are. And lesbian radfems HAVE been interacting with those blogs to tell them off (which I also just learnt) which makes the boundary quite clear - so why are some (read: the homophobic) straight women in this community lumping in all the lesbians together when they try to defend that one particular straight blogger for her illogical and frankly ridiculous comparison?
If you read their interactions with lesbians on here, it's clear that they're doubling down instead of saying "hey okay that was a dumb comparison". I think one of them finally said something like that while trying to prove her point but she's literally got a history of lesbophobia. Many of the people popping up to defend dd do.
Sorry but no, straight women living a life without particular relationships isn't akin to lesbians staying single to survive (which is in fact the reality for most lesbians around the globe). And yes, actually, despite whatever Western-centric statistics may say, for most lesbians the safest person in their life IS their romantic partner (if they find one). I'm a testament to that and so are many lesbians in my side and other parts of the world who manage to find a romantic relationship.
No, I don't think straight women should be pressured into forgoing something they truly want in their lives (and here I have to say this is an opinion as someone who isn't a radfem, and that's why I keep out of all discussions), but a bunch of people on the internet from whatever political sphere, telling them otherwise in a world that prioritizes straight relationships - that's not oppression. It's just not it. They're facing some bad potentialities in life, I get it, and it's unfair and they should navigate the best they can while maintaining autonomy. But lesbians face a much more extreme reality, and trying to compare the two is just tone-deaf and homophobic. And so is their follow-up of trying to justify their reactions because literally nonfeminists have been harassing them over the internet - although I agree there is some seriously misogynistic shit on those blogs, and I myself had to block them.
Why the fuck would I want to be around ANY group that can't maturely acknowledge and work through their own lesbophobia
What a fucking joke

Alright so I don't really know how to begin to be honest. This is a pretty serious topic and it's been on my mind for a while. After @kaypeace21 posted about it again today I thought I finally had to share my opinion on the whole thing. As some of you may know there's been a thing going on where certain people on tumblr (and Twitter) claimed that the theories about Will and his father abusing him + recently added prediction about him hooking up with some people in the next season were sexualizing him and that kaypeace is... I'm not even quite sure what they're saying, that she's somehow enjoying that?? That she's attracted to Noah and sexualizing him because of that? It's just so downright ridiculous it's hard for me to understand how anyone could possibly say such things. Now, just to get some facts straight:
- kaypeace has been analysing the show + all of the hints and movies we're getting from stranger writers
-the content of the movies and the show itself has led her to the conclusion that Will is a csa victim (that's just one of many things she's writing about btw)
- people say (because of her analysis!!) that she's somehow the same as a child abuser, they send her hate messages, they belittle her theories, claim she's delusional, mock her for being autistic and try to kick her out of the fandom AND THEY SAY SHE'S THE SAME AS A CHILD ABUSER (I hope ANYONE reading this realises how ridiculous it is)
honestly I'm fucking speechless. As kaypeace herself has said: she's a csa victim. Now doing what some people have been doing to her is under ANY circumstances just downright wrong, it's bullying at its finest (or rather worst) and it's inexcusable. Now to do just that - to say she's like a predator - knowing she's been a victim of it herself - bravo everyone you've reached a new level of asshole-ish behaviour. I'm baffled that people actually say such things. I fail to understand how anyone could actually think that. If anything is delusional, then it's saying such things. To personally attack someone like that... anyone doing such a thing should be ashamed of themselves.
I'm not a fan of conflict, I'm not a fan of starting fights in fandoms and I'm more than willing to have a calm and open discussion about this if anyone out there thinks I've got it wrong and they have an actual reason to do what they're doing.
Unless that happens I strongly suggest everyone feeling addressed by this reflects on their behaviour. Maybe actually read @kaypeace21 theories. They are pretty brilliant. I'm not saying anyone has got to agree with them. You can think it's bullshit or whatever that's not the point. In the end we'll all see who ends up being right. REGARDLESS OF THAT, STOP HARASSING A PERSON LIKE THAT.
Seriously folks go get some loving, bond over byler, bond over the show, share art, share funny stuff or fanfics, share theories give your views and have opinions for god's sake just don't be so full of hate it's horrible.
For the record, anyone attacking people I like and appreciate, people that do great stuff and never ever harmed a fly - you're attacking me too, and you're attacking a peaceful and loving fandom and I will not hesitate to do something about it if this kind of shit continues.
Thanks for reading and have a lovely day.
