Regarding the MCU I bring in these bits:
Can you explain the other characters that you’re here with today, kind of in your own words, just break them down?
Sure. We have Volstagg, who Ray Stevenson is playing, and he’s kind of a jolly good time-Um, Tadanobu Asano’s not with us today, but his double is here, and he plays Hogun, he’s Hogun the grim. Actually, Tadanobu’s really funny, but he doesn’t get to be in this part. Maybe a little bit. Um, and, I forget who else is in this thing. Josh. Who plays Fandral. He’s Fandral the dashing, and he’s been loads of fun to work with. And uh, you know, he’s definitely always schmoozing the ladies and that sort of thing. His character. He’s married, he doesn’t do that in real life. Uh, I should shut up. And then of course Loki, who is our hellion And he’s, and that’s actually Tom (Hiddleston) has actually helped me a lot with my accent, because he is the standard RP British accent on his own, so I’ve worked a lot with him to sort of match him and we kind of all match him in the movie.
Can you say what your character thinks of Loki before he becomes kind of an out and out villain? Like what’s kind of their relationship? Are they fond of him, do they not trust him?
I can say, just from—I will be good—from reading the comics, I kind of took it upon myself to sort of follow those storylines more. You know, he’s my buddy, I’ll fight alongside of him, but you know, he’s not as good of a fighter as me. Um, and that’s kind of the attitude I had with him sometimes. Um, but still, the six, the core six of them are very much friends, and it, I think, certain things that happen throughout the film are a little shocking to Sif. [Jaimie Alexander On Set Interview THOR Published Dec 10, 2010 ]
This is what Alexander says about her relationship with Loki PRIOR to the “Thor” movie release.
It kind of fit with how in “Thor: Heroes & Villains” Loki was listed among Sif’s companions although Sif was defined as 'the fourth member of THOR’s entourage’,
However her position changes when “Thor The Dark World” is released:
Where does everybody stand together in this film?
We all unite in this film and follow Thor and support him in everything that he wants to do and all of the decisions that he makes. We even turn on some of our fellow Asgardians to protect him. That loyalty really shows, especially from Sif and the Warriors Three, how much we love Thor and how much we support him and we stand by him. We fight alongside of him…and we also all still hate Loki!
It’s up to speculation if this post reflects Sif or Jamie Alexander’s feelings on Loki when she was doing the “Loki” series.
"'Asgard is not a place. It’s a people…' and one of them is a giant A-hole #Loki ⚔️🛡," [Loki: Lady Sif Actor Jaimie Alexander Blasts the God of Mischief in Hilarious Return Post]
While this is why she ended up in “Loki”
As has become rather infamous, Tom Hiddleston gave something of a lecture about the character to the crew. What was something he shared with you about Loki that you knew you needed to include in the series?
We talked a lot about the first Thor movie and the work that he did with Kenneth Branagh, building that character and everything. Something that struck me was Tom identified Loki's loneliness as a foundational pillar of the character. That was really rich, I thought. I've felt that's been an interesting thing to excavate in the show and particularly in Episode 4 in that interaction with Lady Sif and the time loop and everything. That loneliness, the fact that he's alone, that's part of what makes his life so difficult. That was a thing that came straight out of Tom and I's conversations together.
Why was it important to you to bring Lady Sif back into the fold, as opposed to perhaps another Asgardian character?
“I think it was cool to just do a nod to actual Norse mythology and the story of Loki cutting Sif’s hair, which is a real thing from the comic books and the mythology. Anytime we get to do that, that’s really cool. And Lady Sif is awesome! She’s a badass, fan-favorite character… She wasn’t dispatched by Hela in Ragnarok. She felt like somebody uniquely suited to really kneeing Loki in the nuts and punching him in the face a couple of times. So we were excited to get her in there, and she did a fantastic job.“ [ Loki Head Writer Breaks Down the Show's Biggest Twists So Far ]
I could say many things on how Waldron decided that the best way to explore Loki’s loneliness, what makes Loki’s life so difficult, was having him make a dumb prank and cut Sif’s hair in a twisted stereotypical version of the boy who pulls the hair of the girl he likes so that she can knee him in the nuts and punch him in the face a couple of time in a goddamn time loop so that we could have these two ‘gems’:
Loki: Please, please, no more. Please, I beg you. I'm a horrible person. I get it. I really am. I cut off your hair because I thought it'd be funny. And it's not. Uh... I crave attention... because I'm... I'm a... I'm a narcissist. And I suppose it's... It's because I'm scared of being alone. Sif: You are alone and you always will be.
and
Mobius: Shut up! Do you really think you deserve to be alone? Loki! Loki: You told me to shut up. Mobius: Do you believe you deserve to be alone? Loki: I don't know. Mobius: You better figure it out quick, because the nexus event the two of you caused, whatever that connection is, can bring this whole place down. So we better understand...
-_-
If this is what had birth after Tom Hiddleston talking with him, I don’t know if I should start wishing he hadn’t talked with him at all orI should worry about how the series would have been hadn’t that discussion taken place....
Hi um I consider u as a bit of a Loki expert nd I just wanna no what kind of relationship do Sif nd Loki originally have like say in the comics bc I always though Sif hated Loki bc he was not the normal asgardian nd thought les of him bc diff nd she upholds asgardiajs beliefs nd such but idk the show made it seem like they were freinds bc I don’t see any other reason for Loki to not just have atleast attacked sif once they said he’s a villain for the whole show but he Didn’t even defend himself
Hi! Thank you! :) But I actually don't know much about Loki's and Sif's history in comics. @worstloki can probably help you better with this. As far as I know, the story of Loki cutting off all of Sif's hair happened in comics. Loki then for a time possess Sif's body after Asgardians were reborn. And Sif later threatened to kill kid Loki. They generally hate each other, but I remember in Agent of Asgard, Sif was the only person who kind of gave Loki the benefit of the doubt and said he wasn't the same person she knew.
In MCU, Sif was portrayed as someone who doesn't think highly of Loki. She dismissed his opinions on Thor's personality as nothing but jealousy despite them being true. She was ready to attack Loki even though he was their king. And in TDW she was the only person who threatened him with a weapon. It's possible that they were actually friends at some point but we haven't seen the proof of it.
The scene in the show simply doesn't make sense. First because it wasn't even in character for Loki to hurt Sif like that just because he thought it's funny to cut her hair. I can see him not defending himself the first time if he was guilty though. But in the time loop, it was ooc imo that he did nothing. I think he should have at least defended himself in other times and not let her hit him all the time.
