for the role reversal au: What if Jason was still in the room watching Bruce get beat by a cowbar. I'm imagining a last of us part two type situation where Jason has a small head wound on the ground and can't get back up. And he has to watch Bruce take his place. Has to watch the joker beat his dad in front of him and he cant do anything to help. All while the joker is taunting the both of them. Than after all that. Bruce still somehow has a little bit of strength left to help Jason break a window and get out of the building, but not enough to save himself before the building blows up. And Jason ends up like that next to the blown up building.

Role reversal idea: Bruce Wayne dies and comes back instead of Jason. Maybe instead of the Joker beating up Jason Shelia makes a trade for the Batman. Mostly Jason and his family have to see and hear Bruce getting hit with crowbar and blown up.

Bruce willingly trading places with Jason and enduring being beaten to death via crowbar in lieu of Robin makes a lot of sense for his character, you're so right.
