I really like that they made Jor-El speak Kryptonian and Clark unable to understand him. The whole "aliens speak English" thing that happens in every goddamn media has bothered me all my life. Ik sometimes Clark just gets zapped in the brain for insta-second language but that always felt like a cheap shortcut.

Jor-El had a lot on his mind when he set up that magic spaceship okay. The world was ending and he was trying to do as much as he could before time ran out so he could be there for his son. He was rushing. He likely didn't consider Kal would be raised with a whole different language and not know any Kryptonian nor have anyone to teach him.

thinking about Charles never having learned his mother tongue properly, only being able to speak it in broken bits, because his mother never got to teach him and his father never encouraged it. and he went to some British boarding school where he was certainly not going to learn from either.

then, after death, he wants so desperately to learn it, to speak it, to connect to himself in that way. and he has the time now.

Edwin offers to help him. They learn it together, spending nights going over lessons. It becomes their thing, their way to communicate with each other when they don't want other people to understand them (and for shits and giggles).

thinking about Charles connecting to his culture in this way with Edwin, because Edwin wants to learn about Charles, wants to help him with this.

ps: and then (ty @hartigays for this one teehee) established relationship payneland spending time together, Charles running his hands through Edwin's hair while Edwin tries to get them through another lesson. it becomes too distracting and they end up foregoing it for a bit to fucking kiss about it instead.

I was working on my commission rates post when I realized I'm in desperate need to update my portfolio. Oeps. While I have a lot of fully rendered stuff, my simpler drawings and sketches are all over the place style-wise so I need to get consistent with that. This piece is more or less how I'm gonna handle sketch commissions (if I ever get any).

Fandom-wise I'm completely OOTL so I don't know what's going on here lol. I've watched Ahsoka, TBB too, I dropped Acolyte after episode 2 because I was busy but I don't feel like returning to it yet 😅 Also House of The Dragon and KDramas have completely possessed me. I kinda want to draw HOTD and Game of Thrones fanart too.

I'm trying my best to finish my commission info as soon as possible but I kinda got stuck doing 10 different things at once because I'm desperate to earn some money. I'm broke.

As for what you were saying about The nose and Mouth being on the same line: I'm imagining what you're talking about is the line starts at the tip of their nose and goes down to their chin? Kinda like some anime styles? My recommendation would be to do what I show above: Draw an egg-ish shape. And the make sure to draw the nose as a Spike/Orb/Whatever shape is your dream desire, popping out of it. Kinda think of it like a mountain in the middle of a flat Plane. Sticking out like a sore thumb. Besides that!!! References are your best friend!! Reference other artists!!! Reference IRL people!! And keep on keeping at it!! Like I said, I used to be TERRIBLE at drawing them, and here I am now :D I'm not always happy with them, and sometimes I still hate how I draw faces (working on that tho) but I'm miles better than when I was a kid. okay cor recapitulation 2024 cdrama roundup ranked by how much I personally enjoyed them

1- 莲花楼/Mysterious Lotus Casebook

I've said this a billion times but this one was a masterful mix of tragedy and humor. Easily the funniest one on this list, which is really important to me. I will admit that the antagonist is not as interesting as many others below, but I was enraptured with the story from beginning to end. Truly delicious amounts of dramatic irony. AND there was Fang Duobing.

2- 大梦归离/Fangs of Fortune

Easily the most visually stunning on this list. Cunt level off the charts. There is a difference between "liked the story" and "lies awake thinking about the story" and these first two hit that second category for me. Although I did feel at times like the drama was a bit over the top, I loved the story so much that all is forgiven. I laughed I cried I threw up. Not actually but Zhuo Yichen's dry heaving DID at one point make me nauseous for real. 10/10.

3- 我的阿勒泰/To The Wonder

I think this is the only cdrama I watched that wasn't wuxia, so it's weird to compare it to the others, but I did love it a lot. It left me with a feeling of peace and stillness very different from these others. I loved all the little details. It had a way of leading you to sit with a small moment that was truly beautiful.

4- 长相思/Lost You Forever

I disliked part 2 so much that it makes it hard to remember how much I loved part 1, but I really did hamsterwheel this one. There was so much gender here we should not forget it. AND blood drinking. <3

5- 墨雨云间/The Double

I do love a good revenge story. The antagonist was more interesting than I gave her credit for at the time due to my emotional entanglement in said revenge story. I enjoyed it a normal amount.

6- 春花焰/Kill Me Love Me

I enjoyed some aspects (biting <3) but it shrimply did not ignite my soul. It DID star the most beautiful man in the world although that's just my onion.

7- 花开有时颓靡无声/Meet You At The Blossom

Unfortunately this one used like six plot devices I actively hate but I still did (mostly) finish it out of attachment to a few specific side characters. At one point I did feel compelled but I'm not sure I would say I enjoyed it generally. Sorry gay people.

8- 云之羽/My Journey To You

I will be honest I only cared about Shangguan Qian and pretty much no one else, so I didn't finish it. I will probably try and revisit at some point. For my wife Shangguan Qian. I love you. I miss you.

9- 少年歌行/The Blood of Youth

Sadly this one really didn't resonate with me at all. Which is sad because the most beautiful man in the world was bald. :( I see it compared to mlc and shl a lot but it didn't have that something something that those do imo. Perhaps I will revisit in the future.
