💖 Day 3.5 is now available! 💖

For the last couple of months, only Server Boosters had access to the 3.5 update... Buuuuut now it's available for everyone to play in the 14DWY Discord — and soon itch.io once I'm happy with the QA and state of the game — so please don't feel pressured to join unless you want to!!

What's been added to the 3.5 version?

📺 Streamer Mode!

I've been told that it's difficult to stream and monetise age-restricted videos on YouTube and Twitch, so I added an option to remove the sexual content and strong language used in the demo.

Now y'all can invite Ren into your bed for cuddles without putting your streamer career on the line /silly /lh

This won't affect the 18+ rating or dark themes/elements of the game, however! Although Streamer Mode will prevent you from seeing any "gruesome" CGs in the future, most of the core elements of the game will still be tied to the choices and decisions you make. So you won't miss out on the overall experience by using streamer mode!!

⚙️ Custom Pronouns!

It only took me one entire year to get around to it, but you can finally choose your own preferred pronouns (or use a set of pronouns instead)... At the cost of being able to change them mid-game ^^;

Since the original pronoun screen wouldn't update until a new scene was displayed, I temporarily disabled the feature. But once I find a workaround, I'll bring it back!

💗 Choose how others perceive you!

You can now choose how the cast and narration perceive you! Originally, the narration was kept strictly gender-neutral (outside of pronouns and genitalia picked by the player), but this will soon change in future updates.

For more clarity: you don't get to choose the words specifically, but you can choose between masculine, feminine, and androgynous terms!

📋 Separate top and bottom genitalia!

You can now choose your tatas and pps separately! >:3

Alongside that, you can also choose your preferred body type!

I removed the "both" genitalia option because a few players still assumed it was an obscure version of "intersex". That wasn't my intention and I don't want to mislead anyone, so I took it out for now ^^;

I also didn't want to include a screenshot of the new genitalia choices in action (because it's NSFW), so y'all get the same character menu screen for the nth time instead lmao

📱 Relationship Screen Overhaul!

You can now change your own status for more immersion, and long-term Server Boosters will eventually be able to submit and use their own icon within the game as well!

Stalking finding your friends has now become easier by using "Buddy Maps"; a new app that allows you to see the location of all the cast members!

I want to offer players more incentive to check the relationship screen since they tend to miss the status updates, so hopefully this might help ;v;

It also says it "updates every few hours" so folks don't go overboard and check every 5 seconds to see where Ren is gdsghf (also keep in mind that he's a hacker lol)

🖤 Additional Scenes Update!

Day 2 received a brand new CG!!!!! Originally, I planned on only adding a few CGs sporadically throughout the game, but it didn't feel right to leave Day 2 so... empty... so I added a brand new CG to (hopefully) make things feel more balanced and natural!

If you decline Teo's offer on Day 3, Leon will now call and try to convince you to reconsider. However, players are still allowed to decline, and if they do, they'll reach a dead end.

After listening to feedback on itch, I changed some of the dialogue during Days 1-3 to make it seem more consistent! They're only small changes though, so it's honestly not worth looking for sdgjssga

🎶 Updated BGM and SFX!

I wanted to try out a different style of music to see if it fits the vibe of 14DWY more! The BGM features more acoustics to suit the "beachy" theme of Corland Bay, though I made a conscious effort to include piano elements as well to stay true to the original!!

I figured it'd be better to give players a live example before I make a poll (to see if they prefer the change or not) and publish it to Itch.

Some new SFX have also been added, though it's very minimal and honestly not that noticeable.

How to download and play the update?

(warning: clicking on the following links will open Discord!!) To download the Day 3.5 update, simply join the 14DWY Discord server, verify your age, and visit the "14dwy-updates" channel!

Alternatively, you can also wait until the update is publicly released on Itch to play it as well!! (It normally gets released shortly after a round of QA testing/getting feedback from the server, though I may release it earlier if I feel like it hehe ^^)

The Fantasy High player characters get in so many combat situations where I would just leave. I would just be like 'this isn't our problem' and encourage the rest of my party to withdraw as quickly and safely as possible. They're teenagers. Apologies to all my GMs but if I don't have to be in a fight and there's no clear benefit I simply will not be. I would've prioritised getting my party out of the nightclub and left the zombie DJ to his bloodbath. Now they're facing a concrete golem, fuck that. I would just leave.

The only way to use non-gendered pronouns here in greece is to call people 'it', as in the 'this is an object' type of 'it' which obviously isnt what most people are looking for

Everybody loves Yandere Zhongli, I get it. His character's perfect for it. He's got the authority and everything, being an Archon and 6000 years old. You can't outsmart this man. He's got a million tricks up his sleeve and can read you like an open book. Heck, he's even got the erosion debuff that slowly eats away at his mind in obscure ways. He's practically asking to be written as your yandere love interest. The Gaze of a God

You were immediately taken with the handsome consultant and him with you. He was unlike anyone you had ever met. The two of you were inseparable after that stroll, seeing each other nearly everyday. Zhongli exuded a sense of mystery and his patient demeanor invited you to pry and tug at his layers. Everything came off effortlessly as if he had been waiting for you to come into his life and do exactly that.

One lazy morning after he had stayed the night, Zhongli whispered into your ear that he loved you and promised that he always will. You believed him because you really thought you knew him then. It wasn't until you peeled back those last layers that you realized how little you actually knew about the man lying beside you on your bed. What a fool you had let yourself become. After that moment, everything changed, simply because you found out that your charming lover was in fact Rex Lapis, the supposedly dead Geo Archon. Were you really his lover, or just his temporary fixation? At first, he did everything in his power to soothe the insecurities in you, reassure you repeatedly that you still have him in the palm of your hands. You'll never believe him again, of course.

What if someone else manages to catch his eye when he leaves your sight? How unreasonable for a mortal to hold the gaze of a god for longer than the blink of an eye. Your entire lifetime would pass by just as quickly, much less your fleeting youth. What then will you hold Zhongli's gaze with? He would be free to look away once your time is up. Was it that selfish to demand his undivided attention for this tiny sliver of his life? Every time he agrees to another unreasonable demand to appease you, the invisible binds would get tighter. He'd apologize for not giving you the security you so craved for, but you knew better than anyone that there was no way he ever could. Just the thought of growing old alone terrified you. He would be right beside you, holding your hand, but a god could only be a witness, not a true lover to you. Everything you asked him to do, he agreed to, but it'd never be enough. He would only sigh and hold you tightly every time he found out you did something foolish out of your unfounded fear of losing him.

By the time your hair had turned white and wrinkles covered your face, your lover had all but sealed himself inside the subspace he created for the two of you, isolated from the rest of Liyue. Upon his disappearance, a few of his closer acquaintances did approach you to ask where the Wangsheng consultant had gone. You reassured them with lies. Zhongli was simply fulfilling his contract to you. You weren't obligated to disclose it with anyone else. As you lay on your deathbed, eyes straining to gaze upon your lover's handsome face, youthful as he'd always been, you wondered if he ever regretted being with you. Perhaps he really shouldn't have approached you and introduced himself that summer afternoon by the dock.

Your lover planted a tender kiss to your forehead and gazes at you as if you're still that beautiful, radiant person he saw that day so many years ago. He still loved you, but for how much longer, now that your time was finally coming to an end? You wondered how it was possible that this man had not left you when there was no way you could've stopped him. Through the years, you continued to spiral, sabotaging the relationship and everything joyful about it. His promise to love you never faltered. He was your bedrock and despite your fears, he never crumbled. If you couldn't even trust the God of Contracts to uphold his word, perhaps you couldn't trust anyone at all. Maybe in your next life, you'd be able to trust him. It was too late this time. How foolish of you to spend all these years testing his love for you instead of cherishing it. A lifetime of doubt, what a cruel way to spend the precious time you were given. Even if he was still willing to find you in your next lifetime, maybe you didn't deserve to be found.

Are you disappointed that they didn't show Eddie freak out even a little when he was in that chopper? I feel like they're still ignoring his trauma.

Hi Nonnie, I wasn’t expecting Eddie to freak out on the helicopter. So, I wasn’t disappointed. We’ve seen Eddie deal with helicopters on multiple occasions. Bobby even needed him to shut one down during an emergency. They’ve never seemed to faze him.

As far as acknowledging his trauma, we did during his arc in S5 which resulted in him returning to therapy. Probably with a trauma specialist dealing with PTSD vs someone like Frank.

Personally, I don’t see helicopters as a trigger for him. Triggers are not necessarily black and white. His trauma (regarding being shot down) is more related to his feelings of survivor's guilt and fear and helplessness experienced when they were about to be over-run and killed.

He associates being shot down with failure and guilt. Survivor's guilt after the fact, guilt at not being able to save Greggs, but mainly for almost leaving his son to grow up without a father. (And before Eddie ever had chance to actually raise him). Eddie has always been drowning in guilt over Chistopher which was also fueled by his parents' lack of support and ridicule.

The first time we saw Eddie flashback to being shot down was when Chris brought him his Silver Star. That medal is more triggering than a chopper. He also looked at it before his phone call to Mills right before his breakdown.

His second set of memories were triggered when he was trapped inside the well. A situation which threatened once again the thought that he might abandon his son. (And we see what perfectly rational reaction that produced...lol) And also triggered his feelings of being out of control.

I hope one day, he’ll be able to look at that Silver Star without guilt. And if he is successful with his therapy, he probably will. Look at the process he's already made! Just like I’m sure he’s processed and is still processing his traumatic memories and replacing his flight and fight responses with those of healing. Which is the goal of EDMR therapy.
