A couple of people have reblogged my posts about DougDoug saying they wish he wouldn't use AI... and tbh, I don't agree. This is coming from an AI hater who has the names of every major generative tool blacklisted on everything I use, and the AI features disabled on every tool I use. I hate the ways in which they're advertised and used by the vast majority of people. However, I think Doug is the one of the two good examples of someone using AI in the field of entertainment very ethically and wholesomely.

#replacing editors with AI editing tools? BAD #good job he doesn't do that and still pays his editors #replacing art for thumbnails with AI? good job he's not doing that either!#replacing music from real artists with AI? super bad. good job he doesn't do that either #he went out his way to get a license for a song that became a meme on his channel so he could play it legally while supporting the artist #he literally has to fill in a form every time it's played. he cares about music and artists lmao #AI replacing voice actors? BAD. Dean shows up to Stanford unannounced and the little sister who left home a few years ago is now a not-so-little brother. Dean reacts badly. Of course he does. When Sam says "I was never your sister" Dean hears "I was never YOURS". Because if he got this fundamental thing wrong about Sam for all these years, it means he never really knew Sam the way he thought he did. As far as he's concerned he had Sammy memorized, every aspect of her personality noted down in his brain like a private religion, and Sam's telling him that all of that was wrong. He's losing Sam. He's losing the idea that he ever had Sam. It's all about ownership, his little sister belonging to him, and now he's having that essential part of his world challenged. Dean's response is denial - "this is a phase, she's just confused". Until eventually he has to reconcile the Samantha he knew with this Samuel who's come into his own as a man. He has to recognize that he did know Sam - because despite this missing piece being put into place, Sam is still Sam. And he has to realize that if he wants to have (or frankly, own) Sammy in the future he has to adjust. If he doesn't get his head out of his ass he'll lose him forever.
