Meaning: You deliver me from imprisonment, you free me from suffering, very much lock-key symbolism and establishes a relationship of great importance that is capable of destroying a "cage" that makes up the perspective of narrator. The "cage I've known" seems like another way of saying mind, at least to me, in the context of the song. Could also be closet symbolism as well.

Meaning: The phrase "roots" when referring to relationships typically refers to a close long-term bond, especially when combined with the phrase "we've grown." It could mean "you help me from this place of pain by reminding me of our long-term bond."

Alternatively, when I hear "pull me up" I think of marionette/puppet symbolism (pulling the strings up of a puppet) although I could see it just being easier to flow within the song to use up rather than it having a deeper meaning. BUT if you were to look at the phrase "pull me up by the roots we've grown" you could interpret it as 'string me along with our friendship'. So he's saying "pull me up," repeatedly, basically submitting to the puppeteer and saying they control his feelings because of how much they mean to him. (Tbh the lyrics just reminded me of puppet by Tyler somehow so I had to mention it)

Alternatively, following along with the puppet analogy, when the puppeteer says his lines, the marionette is stuck in its head, being forced to mime the words and be pulled in different directions. When the writer says "wish I could step", they could literally mean they wish they could switch roles and be the puppeteer for once. He wants to feel "in control" of the person in the same way they have control over him.

Meaning: I read this as saying even though the narrator might be physically close to the subject, they're mentally apart. The narrator ruminates over what the subject says, and comes to the conclusion they're "alone" in their feelings. I definitely think the second line refers to thinking your feelings are unrequited, and you're "on your own" with your feelings.

Meaning: "I can't tell what stage our relationship is going, I don't know what you want from me." Basically saying the writer don't know where they stand with the subject, evokes the line "what do you think you're doing?" From the context of the song, I could also see it as the subject pulling away from the narrator, which causes the distress and panic attack of the chorus.

I like dnf /r but like in the end ship war stuff is so annoying 😭 why are you being mean/snide to dnfers just because its the popular thing everytime something dnf happens and why are you assuming they all hate anything but dnf. I definitely don’t think current George would allow the disrespect Dream used to dish out in old streams, I think the reason he took it back then was because he was extremely introverted (he even said himself) aswell soft spoken. He’s way more out going and confident now so I highly doubt he would put up with that shit, probably thanks to quackity too, I think after qnf got closer Q taught George boundaries with drm. I remember Q used to tell george to hang up when Dream called him and would constantly steal george for streams while Dream was PISSEDD. Also that era where everybody thought dnf was one sided (on dreams end) but I think that’s just because george learned to conceal his feelings and became more outspoken,like that time where the dnf pandering was at an all time high (thanks to dream) and george literally refused to bait 😭 I also think that’s one of the reasons old dnfers used to treat George as an extension to dream, because drm would be the one doing the baiting and catering to fans while George just wouldn’t..I’m glad we’ve moved passed all that tho

This is interesting never thought Quackity would be part of why George got more confident. I'm just glad it happened cause as much as shy and introverted George was cute, it was sometimes awkward watching him get stepped on.

Sometimes I listen to music from dteam or george edits I would watch in 2020/2021 and literally sob my eyes out. I instantly associate those songs with them and the fandom during that time and my heart hurts because I miss it so fucking much 💔 even though I'm still a pretty huge dnfer and still keep up with content and all that, it's just... Never gonna hit the same as those early times and that truly makes me want to end it all!!! Like why does time have to pass and why do things have to change. I have been watching old manhunts videos because of boredom and also because seeing how much Dream has improved in his skills is awesome but a thing i have noticed (as a good dnfer) is how George plays manhunts.

The first manhunt ever, George won, but I actually think they were more flirting than actually playing (for legal reasons /hj you know) and then, Dream skills just improved and become better at playing minecraft that he practically need 5 people to try and take him down but, hear me out i don't think George actually hunt Dream.

Look, I'm not saying anything but I watched is POV during MCC all stars during the tag thing and he's pretty good at chasing and hunting, why is he so easily target by Dream?

My guess is that they are each other weaknesses. Every time George screams or something, Dream just respond out of habit and search for George and to cover this, he just attack him i know he has said it's for tactical movements but let me dream lol. Also, I don't think George is actually chasing Dream. Like yeah, he helps the other hunters with his Dream knowledge and try to hunt him down but he's not actually hunting him by himself, he's more like helping Dream with what he enjoys, to spend time with him and also to pressure him to be better at.

Thank you for this in-depth manhunt analysis. I don’t know what I’ve done to attract such smart people to my blog but I’m down.

Also, a couple personal notes. I think Dream finds it a fun game to sort of kill George with the knowledge he will respawn as much as I think George likes to taunt him to kill him. Which makes George the most killed person in Manhunts over every other manhunter.

George also often while striving for perfection and victory has some type of mental barrier over actually killing Dream. Which is sort of he likes seeing Dream win more than he likes winning.

With that George doesn’t really put forward everything for manhunts as he is one of the more vocal manhunters with the mentioned before taunting. When George actually is focusing and “tryharding” he’s really quiet and doesn’t show much emotion.

Other than that it’s most likely Dream can’t exactly say, “yeah I automatically seek out George in any situation where I feel pressure or am in competition.” Probably even to himself. So that might be possible that it is an automatic gravitation to George as a sort of mental connection to positive chemicals in any situation.

And with that another addition to the theory.

It's so refreshing to see that even as a hardcore dnfer and dnf fucking raw on the regular truther you are willing to put forth the (albeit very tiny) possiblity of it being about him possibly crushing/falling for someone else post-voldy since we only know so much of dream's life especially after his face reveal like yes usually the most obvious, instinctual conclusion is the truth in life but you have to be ready to possibly dodge any batshit crazy curveballs that make no sense that get thrown every now and then too

Being around since early 2020 pre-dsmp has been a rollercoaster that never ends and sometimes seems like it's going to go off the rails so I will never swear 100% certainty about anything without concrete proof just out of self-preservation lol

Thank you anon! I've said this since the beginning but the whole reason I was a fwb "truther" for months was just in case they aren't actually dating, well i'd feel a bit less of a clown lmao.

I said this last month but I genuinely strongly regret partaking in the relationship truthing to the extent that I did for a few months because it's part of why I was in such a weird place in the fandom for a few weeks/the last month. Anyway m back now where I don't want to actually truth anything, I'm just explaining what I'm seeing and ALWAYS considering multiple theories and keeping in mind that I do not know Dream or George. I only see the smallest % of their week.

On crit especially it's easy to feel like we have the absolute truth because we know "leaks" and small details that main is either not aware of or simply choosing not to discuss publicly but in reality we really don't know shit 😭
