What type of powers/personality(?) you think children of Cloud Nymphs would have? (Planning to make an oc who’s the child of a cloud nymph)

I actually have an oc who's a child of a cloud nymph! Cade! (link to his tag on deadangelos here and link to his wip wiki page here)

I'm a bit light with how much nymph parentage influences their kids, since in Greco-Roman mythology nymphs are more or less functionally human or minor gods/daimons, depending on situation.

For Cade, I did think it'd be fun if he got cloud-like/misty hair when his hair is grown out or when he's older, kind of a la Zeus in Hades game.

My friend also has a child of Persephone from our old rp who cameos on Deadangelos (with tweaked godly parentage), and one of her major design things is that she has flower petals in her hair, so we've kicked around the idea of her Deadangelos iteration being the child of a nymph/dryad a bit.

So appearance-wise, generally I think it's fun to have nymph characters with some kind of visual indication of that, and I'm always a huge fan of nonhuman-appearing demigods. Powers-wise, I think they'd generally have a slightly weaker version of whatever their parents' primary ability is (presuming we're having a nymph parent function a la godly parents) - so like, a cloud nymph kid might have some control over forming small clouds or fog and mist, or a dryad kid might have some control over whatever plant their parent is, and both would have general better connections to those sorts of elements than most demigods. Maybe also just general minor stat boosts, like a aurae kid being stronger or more steady under windy/rainy conditions, or a dryad kid getting bonus energy from the sun.

Personality-wise: I don't usually use divine heritage as a major theme for personality basis, just personally. I might use it for like, overarching themes or some interests/hobbies but I don't like to restrict myself too much with that, just cause I think it's fun to get funky with it. Overarching themes-wise though, for nymph kids, them having a great deal of interest in/care for ecology is a given. For a cloud nymph/aurae kid specifically, meteorology interest is a definite possibility. If you want to lean more into cloud jokes - them being broody/constantly grumpy (jokes about stormclouds hanging over people), them being a daydreamer/spacey (head in the clouds), being an air-head (joke self-explanatory). Honestly just getting into the weeds with cloud puns is probably a good basis to start from for personality inspo. Goodness knows most characters in PJO have a pun to them somewhere in there.

So we went to see the new Aliens movie Alien: Romulus. I can honestly can say I'm not a huge fan of the Alien(s) franchise I like them and I have seen them all and have some of them on disk and in the digital collection. I say I'm not a huge fan I just like Predator more. I think Predator is more interesting design/style wise and story wise nothing against H.R. Giger of course its just a preference as a fan thats all but yeah we went to see this new terrifying chapter. Also yes there was collectable goodies which you can see here.

Anyway about the movie I thought it was great I really liked it. I felt it was very reminiscent of the original 4 movies like they took aspects of them and put them into this even some stuff from the two prequel movies Prometheus and Covenant.

but I would have to say this movie drew more on the first 2 movies Alien and Aliens then any of the other ones. Also this is like a direct sequel to the original Alien being it takes place like 20 years after the events of that movie being they talk about in this.

the basic story for this a group of people are wanting to escape their lives working in the mines on a mining colony planet and discover what seems like an abandoned ship and they are going to use cryo pods to escape to another planet. So they go up to the ship and find out that it is a derelict space station which unknown to them had found the remains of the Alien Xenomorph from the first movie and were doing experiments on it. So while these people are looking for the cryo pods they inadvertently unleashed the aliens and now have to survive in order to get off the station.

I knew this was going to be good being it was directed and co written by blank who did both Don't Breath and the recent Evil Dead which were both amazing movies so I knew that this was going to be very good and being he is a horror director this movie played up the horror alot which i think this franchise should be. It did have some actiony bits to it but was as actiony as say Aliens which was good. like I said it should be a horror franchise.

The the visuals were of course impressive the production and set design were all really good and felt like the same time period as the first movie. also the creature effects were excellent. There was an amazing amount of of Facehugger action which was cool I think maybe this is the most you seen them scurrying around on screen? I'm not sure but you actually got to see them almost stalking the human characters. Also the character called the "Offspring" was crazy weird and creepy and its kind of hard to believe that the character is not CGI but an actual person in a suit with like prosthetics?!? That alone is a bit terrifying in itself I was shocked to find out that was a real person in a costume.

In the end the movie was great I enjoyed it alot and I think any fan of the Alien series would enjoy it being it brings the movies back to their horror roots.

Sure thing, dude! I'll make this the last post of tonight's Tales of Sunday, too. Let's set this up the same way I did on this post.

Emil: He's baby boy baby! I know a lot of people who play (and dislike) DotNW can't stand Emil's cowardice and hate towards Lloyd at the beginning. Besides the hating Lloyd part, I always found it very relatable! Admittedly it's still a character flaw for him to get over, but I don't find it as annoying as others do. But I love him, I love his development, and his eventual friendship with Lloyd. I think his character was handled really well. And dude. Especially how he feels responsible for Aster's death and stealing his life? Relatable, I would feel the exact same way 100%.

Ratatosk: Spicy baby! Honestly his character development was a lot of fun to see through the story, especially how it all comes to a head when he fights Emil in the true ending. (I also love the detail that he's just as good a cook as Emil, he just doesn't care about presentation lol). The way he gets soft for Marta is very sweet, too. I have mixed feelings about how his character is handled in the crossover games, though.

Marta: Haha, like I said, she's not my favorite Tales Heroine, but she's not bad. I also loved her as a kid! She was like a silly self-insert for me at the time. Her weapon has always confused me, and her battle combos aren't great, but bringing optimism to contradict Emil's pessimism was always a nice touch. I especially love her relationship with Tenebrae, and her eventual friendship with Colette. I'm not a ~huge~ fan of her reading too much into Emil's interactions with the other female members of the party ("I see you're into older women now" like what the hell), but when she's sincere I really appreciate her.

Tenebrae: love him, snarky doggy boi :3 His clothes are the same as his skin... always bothered me, ha! Besides Repede, I think he's one of the better designs of a dog character in the series. LOVE his tail hand. Iconic design. 10/10.

Richter: He's fine, he serves his purpose. I wish I could love him as much as other fans, but much like Yuan, I never really clicked with him. His motivation and how much he believed in Aster is very moving, though! And his theme? Top tier.

Aqua: she's a character. Love her design!

Alice: a really good character to hate! Her baby voice makes my skin crawl, her malicious innocence is entertaining. All her nicknames for people suck, and I think that just adds to it. To be clear, I don't hate her as a character that exists! I'm glad she exists, she adds to the plot and to fleshing out Marta. It sucks she gets dropped for a good while after the raid on the Vanguard base. But man. I hate her.

Decus: he's fine. I tend to have a bias towards characters that have a lot of jewelry (due to my phobia) in not liking them as much as other people? He's in the story to exist as a Lloyd-framer and a mirror to Emil, but otherwise they don't do much with him that matters. He's comedic. Too much so. You can't take him seriously even when they want you to because he's too goofy.

This next section I assume you mean like, shipping wise?

Emil x Marta: They're cute! I like them a lot, as characters, but not so much as a couple, I guess? They're a cute high school couple in a Christian School setting, but once they head off to college either they're going to need to really make things work or settle with being friends (close friends!). That's the vibe I get from them. I don't see them completely separating, but I also don't see them like. Having kids. At least, not without problems.

Alice x Decus: they're a mirror to Emil and Marta's relationship! That's... about it. I'm going to be completely honest, I don't really have any thoughts about them other than that is a toxic relationship. They're okay!

Have you heard the news about Till yet? Does it ruin the band for you anyhow? I've only found out about it 2 hours ago and I'm pretty stunned :/

Hey sorry for the delay in replying to this! Yes I've been following the various goings-on. I've stayed out of the discussion on it mostly because I really don't care that much - I'm way past the point in my life where I get so attached to bands that any news of 'gasp! Male rock star is shitty to women!' would have me sobbing on the floor. I mean, my favorite band was Korn for many years, enough said lmao.

Having taken in the various perspectives, news sources, and other insights from fans, it's looking very likely that Till did not actually engage in this behavior for the particular circumstance he is being accused of. I'd be surprised if he'd really go so far as to do all of that. There appear to be multiple witnesses that deny the accuser's claims. I don't inherently take sides on this stuff, I just try to judge whatever facts are available. Rammstein is a well-oiled machine with a huge crew that try to regulate their events and make it safe for everyone. That doesn't mean things can't happen, esp when Till has separate afterparties than the rest of the band, but they've been at this for almost 30 years with very few issues.

Is Till shitty to women? Often, and I'd call him a sex addict, and from what I understand in the past several years he hasn't been surrounded with great people outside the band (i.e. his solo stuff) and they've enabled or fed the worse parts of him. He has seemingly cultured an environment around himself - largely separate from the rest of the band, at least at present - where he can engage in his preferred activities. I don't agree morally with a lot of the things he does (hell, I can't stomach most of his solo project music videos), but that's nothing new, because while he may honestly be worse on this front than in the past, he's always been like this.

But in this particular circumstance, I'm inclined to say the media is spiraling this way out of control. I hate the entire culture surrounding rock band afterparties, older men seeking out young groupies, and Rammstein's 'Row 0' antics. I'd like an outcome of this whole thing to be that they stop doing that once and for all, given that the band is in their 50s and for Till, 60s. But even with whatever headspace Till has been in recently, he has a great love and respect for his fellow band members who are like family to him - and I need not expound upon just how monumentally stupid and detrimental it would be for the whole band for him to have done something illegal here. The last time he was arrested (along with Flake) was in 1998 for one of their stage acts - he's been clean otherwise (and that whole thing was idiotic anyway on the part of the MA police), and that is a testament to his carefulness and desire to not impact the band and the lives of the band members. He got pyro certified to design their stage acts and ensure the safety of everyone during their shows after an accident in 1996 - he's a man that shows commitment and perseverance, and he is very intelligent.

This entire thing has had a massive impact on the rest of the band, with some people relating it to the Mutter era where the band was having major disagreements and almost broke up - but there, they got through it stronger with a better understanding of each other and how to work together. I do feel Till is not in a great place mental health-wise, and needs to surround himself with better people re: his entourage and personal&professional friends outside of the band, and his antics in general sometimes cast a poor light on Rammstein. I hope this whole thing forces some re-examination by Till of his lifestyle, because he himself often doesn't seem very happy (without me reading any further into things I know nothing about). I think he's treated women poorly in these environments from a ~just being shitty~ point of view, undoubtedly. But ultimately, I don't think he committed the illegal activities he's been accused of in this instance.

I hate how much of this has become about taking sides, like hashtag 'I stand with Rammstein' or whatever. I don't stand with or against anyone - I think this sucks for the rest of the band being put through this no matter the outcome, I think it will have a lasting impact on the dynamics of the band and their interpersonal relationships, and I'm glad it sheds light on Row 0 and various shitty practices that Rammstein and many bands have engaged in.

Groupies will always exist, and so aging male rockstars will probably always do this sort of stuff - plenty of female fans welcome it, seeing as no one is forced to accept an invitation to an afterparty, and any Rammstein fan who finds themselves in Row 0 knows what it's about. In general, I hear overwhelmingly positive experiences about fans meeting Till and if he was consistently poor-mannered I doubt people would hold good opinions of him. The band's made it clear (via Scheider's recent statement) that any guest is welcome to leave these environments if they're uncomfortable and will be chaperoned by security. They have a huge crew of 100+ people making sure everything runs smoothly. There are changes that I think should be made to separate and/or regulate Till's private parties (or better yet, don't have them), and I personally will never understand going to these parties, but that's just me. Less than great experiences can and do happen at those parties, but that's a far cry from criminal acts. I think Till goes way overboard much of the time esp when left to his own devices, but being a lewd ass is again, not the same as forced coercion.

Personally, I honestly just think this is a shitty way to go out, seeing as the band is taking a hiatus after this tour and I get that nagging feeling we may not see them again for a long time, or ever, at least in terms of new albums or concerts (they do have a dvd coming out in a year or two). Rammstein has always tried to shock people with controversy, but not in ways like this. Various media outlets love to jump on this band, waiting for them to slip up on anything. Even if all charges are cleared, which it's shaping up that they will, much of the damage was done to Till's reputation, with multiple collaborations dropped/promos cancelled. I hope this gives him pause and a chance to re-examine where he's at in life, and that his fellow band members can help him find support where he needs it. Again, I don't defend Till, and I don't deny shitty things may happen at afterparties. But I'm weathered when it comes to rock scandals and I try hard to stay out of the personal lives of band members. So to me whatever happens happens and I just want some lessons to be learned for all involved.

Although, to be honest, as much as I love those two (being laid-back and "looking for a dream boy" are two things I can heavily relate to), in terms of personality so far my favorite is perhaps Alizée, and design-wise it would be Noah. Like seriously, when it comes to Noah I can't decide if I just want to look like them or date them??? *fanboy scream* THEY'RE TOO COOL!!! (>////<)

Regardless, I just adore your comic, and everything about it. Everything looks great, everyone is adorable, the diversity is just AWESOME! Bianca and Penny's interactions are just so awkward, funny, cute, and relatable! I just love it! Compliments aside, though, there's something I want to say. I just recently noticed you changed how you identify as, and I have to ask - how did you realize you were aro AND ace? If I remember correctly, you used to identify as aromantic and lesbian (sorry if that's not true, btw). Was it a case of you realizing you only liked girls in the aesthetic sense in spite of being open to intimacy and/or a relationship with them?

Sorry for the weird questions by the way, you don't have to answer them if you don't feel like it. I don't mean to be invasive, I'm just genuinely curious about such things, considering I am neither asexual nor aromantic exactly, and I have never felt any true semblance of being a lesbian (since I'm a trans boy who likes more than one gender, I could not feel any connection to the word "lesbian" when I learned about it even though I'm really into ladies).

If it somehow alleviates whatever discomfort I might have brought to you by bringing up a (possibly) unpleasant subject amidst such praise, I'd like for you to know that I have kind of aromantic/asexual -ish values myself. That is, in spite being a huge fan of romance and, er, "bedroom bonding," I think platonic love should always come first, and I always feel aces, aros, demis, and everyone in the ace/aro spectrum deserve better both in real life AND in fiction.

I actually realized I am definitely asexual recently - basically w/o getting too explicit someone offered me the option to try "it" and it freaked me out so much it kind of set off an "ohhhh okay, I'm definitely not a sexual person" moment. Honestly, I kind of grew up being told I was too young to identify as asexual and to just wait until I'm older, but bro I'm older now and I still feel the same way so 🤠🤸‍♀️ Honestly I think my thoughts are if a label is resounding w you - give it a try, nothing has to be permanent! New Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, my thoughts! Spoilers obviously.

A bit of a disclaimer but I haven't seen most of these in motion, and sometimes a species' entire quirk or charm appeal is conveyed by gameplay, so it's very possible I may change my tune about many of these later on.

So, for starters... the starters! I actually think they are all pretty good this gen!

*Sprigatito line: you know me, I was hoping it would go bipedal and luckily it got a pretty cool theme going on as a magician. That's fun.

*Fuecoco line: HONESTLY in love with these. I thought the egg that the second stage carries was a sombrero when I first saw it, so I was worried it'd be another Ludicolo situation, but I love the idea of a croc Pokémon that also comes with An Additional Creature to mimick how crocs will sometimes ferry a bird and allow it to pick stuff off their teeth. It's a very inventive idea ESPECIALLY for a starter! My first playthrough pick for sure.

Quaxly line: The ugly duckling of sorts evolves into a very flamboyant peacock-duck hybrid. It's got pretty cool animations, seeming to always be dancing. Miror B is sweating.

*Pawmi line: Honestly a pretty good visual demonstration of why Pikaclones don't usually evolve. I like the idea of its ability, but design wise these could have very easily been one or two stages.

*Smoliv line: Honestly? Outsold. The final evolution was one I didn't think they would have made that cool, but it actually rocks.

*Wattrel line: The first stage is pretty boring, which is kind of a pattern this gen, but I love the second one being a frigate bird with an electric sac. Another one I want for my team.

*Nacl line: MINECRAFT.

*Maschiff line: Honestly my first disappointment. I liked the first stage, but the second doesn't change a lot except for losing the fun coloration? they both kinda just look like an irl dog. Not very exciting.

*Greavard line: I think the first stage was universally beloved, but the second is gonna be polarizing. That said, I'm a HUGE fan. I love how it actually evolved into a spooky creacher with a skeletal look, and I can't not admire the gumption of how its disguise-candle became A TOMBSTONE.

*Lechonk line: Lechonk evolving to be yassified was unexpected but very fun. I like both its gender dysmorphic (maybe) forms, they're simple but very cute.

*Fidough line: Honestly just very good and cute. Making it a dachshund was a good decision and it has a fun ability to play off its design as a toasted bun.

*Tarountula line: I've seen a lot of hate for it but while the first one is kind of underwhelming, I was the only one in that group who got the soldier motif and I think the evolution is great. This gen has great bugs and I'm always happy to see that.

*Nymble line: Kamen Rider grasshoppers. I don't think I need to explain why that's cool.

*Flittle line: BABY. A LOT of mons this gen are microorganisms, and it doesn't always work but I do love this one. Garrish colors match the psychic type well, and its ostrich evolution is super cool.

*Finizen line: First form is cute and simple and we were late indeed for a dolphin Pokémon... sadly, its evolution kind of sucks, not gonna lie... I don't think anyone in the thread liked it at all. Everyone was saying it has an alternate evolution, but it turned out to be more of a form change that makes its evolved form BECOME the Super Hero Dolphin.

*Gimmighoul line: This is one I don't quite know what to think of yet, but if anything, I admire the creativity to make That what it turns into, even if I'm not personally sure I like it. Certainly one of the more outlandish designs this gen.

*Tinkatink line: VERY fun to have a pink cute creature wielding a huge steel hammer. I like that it's going through its Joker Arc. And with THAT move? Girlboss.

*Flamigo: Guys this is quite literally just the animal. Like, outright. I'm not sure what was the idea, but also I DID hear it looks more fun in motion so who knows.

*Tandemaus line: Just Two Guys. I think they're cute, and the fact that they just have kids when they evolve is cute, but also their individual designs are too simple in my opinion.

*Squawkabilly: VERY good. So good, in fact, that it was also my idea for my own fanregion, so... so much for that! The Rockabilly aesthetic is fun.

*Rellor line: I thought I wasn't going to like what they were doing with the dung beetle 'mon but damn that evolution looks amazing.

*Bombirdier: AAAAUGGGG BOMBER CRANE MY BELOVED.

*Bramblin line: Same deal with Rellor that I think the base form looks whatever but the evolution is great.

*Orthworm: I agree with a friend who said it shouldn't have eyes or mouth (certainly not both bc it looks like a snake otherwise) but I'm more mystified by how it summons pseudofeet from its collar. I dig it though.

*Tatsugiri & Dondozo: VERY FUN. A fish Pokémon who pretends it's a teeny piece of sushi but then commandeers a big catfish from inside? It even comes in different colors.

*Glimmet line: I need 7 of these in my room Thank You.

*Varoom line: The Team Star car engine WAS a Pokémon all along! We were right!!!

*Shroodle line: WHAT IS UP WITH GRAFAIAI'S PRE-EVO LMFAO

*Frigibax line: LOVE it. Classic case of awkward first and second stage dragons who become great, an ice type spinosaurus in their case, let's goooooo.

*Paldean Wooper line: GREAT remix of a great Pokémon. A large plush of Clodsire could fix me.

*Paldean Tauros: I had a feeling we were gonna have less Regional Variants from how they've only shown us 1 officially thus far. This said, I think the base form for it is very boring - it's just a black Tauros with slightly shorter horns and one less tail... LUCKILY, this one has two separate forms. Fire/Fighting and Water/Fighting and I do think both look very cool.

*Annihilape: Primeape got so angry it died oh my god. It looks very badass, too.

*Kingambit: Super cool. Bisharp was a good pick for an evolution. Don't have much to say on it.

*Dudunsparce: While I think Dunsparce getting an evolution will make a lot of people happy, I've seen many disappointed it didn't turn into like a Dragon or whatever. I think the idea of a Big and Bigger Dunsparce is funny. I like this one and think it's a better fit for a tsuchinoko.

*Wiglett line: Wiglett is a funny fella, and Wugtrio turned into pretty much exactly what I imagined it would.

*Toedscool line: The other convergent line, Toedscool is amazing, honestly. A mushroom Pokémon that looks like a Tentacool and Tentacruel is such a cool idea. To see what you assume to be a jellyfish walking on land is great.

*Legendary Quartet: Rapid-fire thoughts but I like the idea that all of these are sealed and their vessels are incorporated in their designs. Individually: Snow Leopard outsold. I don't know what I'm looking at with the Deer. The flame Fish seems like it could use more workshopping. The Snail is an absolute legend (literally) and my friend.

*Paradox Pokémon: REALLY COOL MECHANIC. I like them more than megas tbh. I have no idea why they waited until now to reveal them. I know some are disappointed that Violet's all share a theme of looking robotic, but I still think they look better than other Scarlet ones and I think robots are cool. I understand that they have Titles instead of names and I do think it's cool but I'm gonna refer to them as the Paradox forms of the Pokémon they're based on, even if they're not form changes per se. Individually:

*Paradox Donphan: I think the Scarlet version one looks cooler, because the Violet one kinda doesn't look like an elephant anymore.

*Paradox Volcarona: These are both amazing. I think a Volcarona that takes more after Larvesta is a good idea, and the Violet one looks almost like an angelic robot which rocks, and the Poison type is a plus.

*Paradox Jigglypuff: I do really like how not all Paradoxes are fully evolved Pokémon but I do think this one's a flop.

*Paradox Misdreavus: See above and what I said about Scarlet's.

*Paradox Gallavoir: This one is. Awesome! Essentially an androgynous robot version of a Gallade+Gardevoir fusion who's Fairy/Fighting. Nothing could be cooler.

*Paradox Delibird: HOW they managed to make Delibird cool is beyond me but they sure did do it!

*Paradox Magneton: Magneton with legs is CRAZY. I Iove it.

*Paradox Hariyama: Not my favorite still but it looks much cooler than its OG self.

*Paradox Salamence: The clear favorite and for a good reason, too. It looks amazing. I get why many Violet preorders were canned over it. It's cool how it kinda retroactively explains its Mega too.

*Paradox Hydreigon: I am legit surprised they made a Robot Hydreigon but DIDN'T use its beta design from BW's development, as it was going to be a tank. That said, it still looks dope

*Paradox Amoonguss: I love this thing. Not the most dramatic change from its present self but it's ok by me.

2 ~ DO YOU REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME YOU MET YOUR F/O? WHAT WAS IT LIKE?

I do !! If talking about the first time irl, it would technically be when I first listened to Les Mis ( the first time i heard him, at least ! ) , which was years ago. my friend was really into it before i hardly knew about it, and she showed me the soundtrack years before i actually became a big fan ( which we still joke about to this day ) . the first time i saw him was when i watched Les Miserables ( 2012 ) , which was just me hanging out in my room one day and deciding to watch a new musical for funsies !! little did i know that i would quickly come to love it as hugely as i do now :D

now talking about actually meeting him, of course i do !! i remember it vividly — it was actually an accident ! i had no idea enj was having a friend over, and accidentally interrupted their study session . . . i'm glad i did, though, because otherwise it might have been a long time before ferre and i met !!

it's so hard to pick just one ! he's done so many sweet things, and i honestly count his merely being with me as one of the sweetest things he has ever one. something in specific, though ( physical gesture wise, at least ) , is his gift of a locket for me. he knows i have a soft spot for austen romances, and what is more quintessentially romantic than a gift of a heart - shaped locket with one's lover's sentiment in it ? the front is engraved with swooping designs that look like flowers <3

in regards to a sweet action, though, was his begrudging agreement to join me in the rain ! i adore walking through rain and splashing in puddles, but he strongly objects ( not wanting to get soaked in the cold and all ) . though, seeing how much fun i was having one day after running outside for some joy after a long period of struggling for smiles, he couldn't help but join :)

It hurt so much to see the way they flattened Nick's character, to a point where my friends who didn't read the book felt nothing when he died on the show. Meanwhile, that was one of the most traumatic book deaths for me EVER. I cried so much. To be honest I like Henry Zaga as Nick, but that might just be because I think he's so beautiful... but I feel like he looks the part! And I don't know how you feel about Ezra but I'm a big fan of his and was so excited when he was cast as Trashy (1/2)

(2/2) And I really think he could have done the role justice if they'd given him ANYTHING to work with. But they really didn't. I know some of the decisions were his, but I definitely can't blame him entirely, most of the blame lies with the writers/showrunners. He is a good actor and based on his past work, he can play very dark and traumatized characters with great nuance and emotion. So it could have/should have been so good. But it wasn't :( I like him for Trashy look-wise too though

Okay honestly I could’ve written this ask to myself bc ALLLL of this!! Gonna get long...

First of all, I liked Henry Zaga as Nick too and yes he was very very pretty. I was bitching to my mom about how Nick’s death had so little impact bc of what they did to the character, and she was like, “But at least he’s pretty,” and yeah. He surely nailed that one, and in a totally different way than preppy, clean-cut Rob Lowe--who was, let’s face it, also very very pretty. But there’s a reason in my fic I’m imagining Nick as a Henry-Zaga-Dev-Patel combo rather than Rob Lowe. And honestly I like Henry Zaga’s look much more as Nick than when he’s clean-shaven w short hair; then he’s just kind of a generic pretty boy.

I was wondering how ppl new to the material might react to Nick’s death, and I’m sad to hear it’s exactly how I suspected. How were you supposed to be gutted by it when he barely existed? Cute, yes, with big puppy eye(s), but not much more than that. I watched the miniseries back in 94 before I read the book, and when Nick died I’m p sure I screamed at my TV. I was so gd upset and that was the end of the episode and I was just like “it’s a mistake, somehow he’s okay, he’s not dead, it’s gonna be okay” bc denial.

I guess it’s not cool to like Ezra Miller anymore, bc of whatever that bizarre incident was with that girl, and I guess that pro-cop movie he made that time, but honestly I’ve always been a big fan of his as an actor, and I think he’s absolutely beautiful. My tag for him is “renaissance prince,” and I stand by that, bc sometimes Renaissance princes got up to some shiiiiiit.

Anyway. He can be over the top, but he can also deliver subtle, moving performances (We Need to Talk About Kevin), and while yeah I think some of the Trash stuff was him, a lot of it wasn’t. He didn’t design the costume. If the director had thought he was too ott, he would’ve pulled him back, or used a different take in the final product. Like clearly what he was doing was what they wanted, and it was just...a mess. I haven’t delved too deeply into this topic bc it was so bizarre and disconcerting and left me so nonplussed. What the fuck was even happening??

When I first learned he would be playing Trash I was like “wow, young, but that seems to be the theme with this cast,” and otherwise I was p excited. I read a review where the reviewer mentioned him and said he was “doing everything, and it was a lot” or something like that, and that got me a little...worried. Concerned. But I never could’ve anticipated what we got.

During your time at TTG, what exactly was the logic behind not making choices actually matter? Especially for a company that more or less advertises "Oh YoUr ChOiCeS tOtAlLy MaTtEr GuYzZz..." (I'm sure new hires were always confused during the training process.) "So your job is to make this game, and have the choices matter.... but don't actually make them matter." Just curious cause as a Fallout fan it was always hard to take TTG seriously about that philosophy, and honestly it pissed me off.

I wasn’t a part of the design team for anything but TFS, but I personally would never have pushed “your choices matter” as part of TTG’s marketing so hard. 

If you look at TWDG S1, your choices don’t really “matter” if you define mattering as actually causing changes in the overall plot, but everyone still loved it. They love it because it’s a great story, and the “choices” are really just a device to engage you with the characters of a linear adventure game with a fresh coat of paint. The Choices are a storytelling tool, not a goal in of themselves. Over time the public message and perception of how choices worked in a telltale game twisted this idea into something unattainable by a studio with the limitations telltale had. 

If you want a simple reason why choices didn’t “matter” in the sense of plot deviations, it’s that it’s too expensive to actually build branches. TT games are these highly crafted animated films, essentially, and for everything in the game to meet that level of quality, and to get the game done on time, you simply cannot have that many large differences in the game’s story. It’s actually insane that some telltale games change as much as they do based on choices, these games are like sometimes 3-4 movies worth of content, and most were made in around a year, when actual animated films take more like 2-3 years for a large studio with a big animation team to make. Man just Batman TEW episode one is almost 3 hours long (not counting all the branches and choices), and we made it in like…. 6 months if you count pre-production? And then 4 more films of similar length before the season was over? And one of them is 2 FILMS AT THE SAME TIME? It’s insane these games got made. 

I honestly think the “choices matter” thing became toxic to Telltale’s design philosophy, where it was given so much build up for the players, that when it really failed to “matter” it caused a vicious negative feedback loop. GOT has some of the worst of these, where a big binary choice just goes “lol nope” seconds after the button press (fakeout choices non-withstanding, some of those rule) 

Choices were never going to have a huge impact in TT games. As you mention, big budget RPGs like Fallout and Witcher have the kind of “player agency first” philosophy that actually causes branching narratives to feel reactive. Games made by massive studios on much more powerful engines. TT games were always a polished interactive narrative first, a game where choices caused deviations in the plot second. The best way to construct a telltale style game that feels like your choices matter but don’t affect the plot is to have your relationships with characters change, but still get mostly everyone in the same place at the same time, regardless of choices. 

I actually think some of the games that spun off from Telltale like OxenFree did awesome stuff with the choice mechanic, where the “choices” with rare exception are just there so you can enjoy interacting with characters and far less about the big stakes of the story. On the flipside, I personally really dislike games like Detroit, where a linear story game respects player choice so much they let you actively ruin the plot, and just go “there it is” when you’re done, but they have so much budget and time they can actually make all those branches.  

TDLR: Choices didn’t “matter” plot wise because it’s too expensive to make branches, and I don’t think choices were actually that important when compared to a good story (see TWDG S1), and Telltale was a victim of it’s own messaging.

I know this was already answered in the replies, but I've been in this fandom since the start, so I'm gonna pull out my FNAF veterans card and elaborate for newer fans who are curious.

So why back in the earliest days of the fandom, when FNAF was at the peak of its initial popularity, there was a user called Rebornica. Now, Rebornica ended up being a whole drama-filled can of worms, but I'm not gonna go into that. All you need to know is that they had a FNAF AU, which was their take on the lore, and starred their personal interpretation of the game's characters, mainly the night guards. They frequently drew art and comics for it, and it became very popular. Anyway, FNAF 2 comes out and we're first introduced to William Afton... except he didn't have a name yet so we all just called him Purple Guy. Since no one knew anything about him at the time outside of him being the killer, he was essentially a blank slate for anyone to interpret as they pleased, which is what Rebornica did when they added him to their AU, giving him his own design and name. And thus, Vincent was born.

The bitch in question

Personality wise, I don't actually remember too much abt him, except that he was obsessed with toast, and had a one-sided infatuation with Phone Guy. Iirc, the fact that he's a child murderer was rarely addressed, and when it was it was usually (but not always) done as a joke about his love of violence. Overall, he was portrayed as a young guy who's funny, sometimes relatable, likes to mess with his co-workers... and also just happens to like killing ppl because he's crazy I guess?? That, combined with his design, caused fans to quickly latch onto him. People started adopting the name Vincent for their own versions of Purple Guy, sometimes even giving them similar designs. It got to the point that some people thought Vincent was Purple Guy's canon name.

And then there were the The Simps. The Vincent simps were everywhere. I see all this simping for Sun and Moon in the current fandom, but honestly it's been pretty tame compared to the sheer amount of T H I R S T that people had for Vincent. Iirc, Rebornica themselves kind of started going in that direction at first, but it soon got very weird and uncomfortable. Not only did Vincent fangirls start sending Rebornica these creepy and sexual messages directed at the character, but smth similar happened to another Tumblr user who was a voice actor. He had his own Vincent impression and took requests to quote lines some of Rebornica's comics and whatnot. Then the fans started trying to get him to say some really nasty and inappropriate stuff as Vincent. Yeah, it was bad.

This, combined with drama Rebornica got into around this time and some other reasons I don't remember, caused them to jump ship from the FNAF fandom completely sometime right before FNAF 3 came out. They even went as far as to delete their blog to purge their FNAF AU completely, but by that point Vincent was a huge part of FNAF fanon. I remember even after William's name was finally revealed, some people still insisted on calling him Vincent, and he still has quite a few fans to this day. Even though Rebornica deleted all their FNAF stuff, you can still find comic dubs of their AU on YouTube

I'm living for your little pirates verse! What about Wes being jealous about Beth being born and Harrison comforting him?

Thank you so much for being a fan of my Little Pirates series. I’m really glad that people are enjoying my darlings. With that being said, your prompt is a little on the tricky side, mainly because when Beth is born, Harrison is 4 years old and Wes is 2 years old, and while Wes is totally capable of being jealous of Beth, I don’t think Harrison is quite old enough to provide that comfort for him yet. So, for this one, I’ve decided to venture outside the Little Pirates side of this universe and into the Ever After side, which is all stories about Harrison, Wes and Beth when they’re older and very much coming into their own as people. So in this one, Harrison is roughly 31, Wes is 29 and Beth is 27. It’s mainly focused on Harrison and Wes reminiscing on their childhood and comparing it to Harrison’s own children in regards to jealously. Anyway, spoilers (I guess?) to the fates I have designed for all three of them. So here’s 3,600+ words on older!Harrison and older!Wes talking about…a variety of things but mainly childhood jealous towards siblings (thanks Laura for letting me bounce ideas for this prompt off you. you’re my mvp.)

Wes Jones arrived at the Rabbit Hole early Friday afternoon for his night shift to see his older brother Harrison sitting at the bar, a row of rum glasses in front of him. Wes raised his eyebrows, assessing the scene with increasing curiosity. Harrison, ever the black sheep in the Jones family, was never much of a rum drinker. That honor normally was bestowed upon their younger sister who drank rum like it was water. Harrison was very much a beer guy and generally stuck to his lagers the same way he stuck to his calf brown bomber jacket, which was to almost absurd daily routine.

If Harrison was drinking rum, it normally meant he was upset about something, but what he could be so upset about, Wes didn’t know. Harrison had his life put together. He had taken over for their mother as sheriff of Storybrooke, married a smoking hot Princess of Agrabah and had three adorable children, one of which was newly born. Harrison was the picture of stability; an unmovable, unshakeable mountain. Wes, on the other hand, was a volcano ready to erupt; half in love with the mother of his daughter, half in love with his childhood best friend, his music store was barely afloat and he could barely keep up with all the requests for magic thrown his way now that the citizens of Storybrooke realized that they now had options in regard to local magic users. All and all, Wes was amateur juggler playing with chainsaws instead of plush balls and he had far too many of them in the air.

“What do we do with drunken sailor? What do we do with a drunken?” Wes sang as he approached his brother, swinging himself over the bar and offering Harrison his signature smirk.

“Hilarious,” Harrison replied with a roll of his eyes as he threw back another glass of rum.

“You know for someone who doesn’t like being compared to Dad, you are doing an amazing rendition of Killian Jones right now. I mean, honestly, the resemblance from the face and scowl right down to the throwing back rum shots like it’s water…I’m just so impressed right now.”

“You are literally the worst bartender I’ve ever come across in my life,” Harrison replied with a roll of his eyes and if Wes was feeling a little more dick-ish, he would have taken that moment to point out that the eye roll was also very their father.

It wasn’t that Harrison didn’t like their father, quite the opposite in fact. Harrison admired the man, but he didn’t necessarily want to be him or the expectations that came with being Killian Jones. The citizens of Storybrooke however? They never seem to get that memo and loved to regale on the fact that Harrison strongly resembled their father. It always had amused Wes that they thought that. Sure, they looked similar, but that was as far as the resemblance went. Harrison was more of the same vein as their Grandfather David personality wise - morally upstanding, dependable, loyal and a tad self-righteous. It was Beth really who was all Killian Jones from her excessive use of manipulative charm to the fact she was an actual goddamn pirate complete with her own ship, adventures and a goddamn pirate husband/boyfriend/fuck buddy/whatever the hell Jim Hawkins was.

Wes, on the other hand, took after no one really in particular. He was the wild card and had always relished in that role. He never felt the need to live up or live down any one’s legacy; it gave him a sense of freedom to do with himself as he pleased. Maybe that’s why his life was comparative to a dumpster fire.

“I’m probably maybe one out of like five bartenders that you actually know, so it’s not like you have a huge pool to pick from,” Wes replied, focusing his attention on dirty glasses that were littering his side of the bar. Honestly, the new kids they kept hiring were sloppy as hell and he was getting too old for this.

Harrison frowned for a moment as if he had never thought about it before. Wes didn’t understand how he didn’t because aside from occasional cross-realm trips, they didn’t leave Storybrooke much. There was just too much going on in this ridiculous small town for either of them to leave. Sometimes, Wes envied his sister in that regard. She was the one that got away.

“You might actually be right there.”

“I know I’m right,” Wes replied with a tiny smirk. “But that doesn’t tell me what you’re doing at the bar at 4:30 in the afternoon when you have a gorgeous wife, two cute rascally sons and a painfully adorable newborn daughter at home…”

“I needed a break,” Harrison said after a moment, staring down at the bar like he was ashamed to admit it. “I need a break from everything and that’s why I came here…to unwind a bit…I guess.”

Wes nodded like he understood, which of course he didn’t. When Wes wanted to unwind and take a break from the world, he would get drunk by himself, eat cheerios out of the cereal box and watch whatever trashy reality television show his television had to offer. He didn’t go to public establishments where other people could see and, even worse, talk to him. However, that was all a matter of personal temperament. Harrison actually liked being around people, craved it even. Wes, more or less, was tolerant of people at best and while he occasionally enjoyed company, he could do without.

“Unwinding is something I can understand,” Wes said finally after a small silence fell between the two brothers. “But what the hell do you need unwinding from, Superman?”

As he glanced up from the glasses, Wes caught their reflection in the mirror located on the wall behind Harrison’s head. Night and day, they were both in coloring and demeanor and Wes was always reminded of it whenever he saw pictures of them together. Harrison had taken their father’s looks and darker coloring while Wes had taken after their mother with his near-white blonde hair and pale skin, but on the inside they were reversed. Harrison was, unfailingly, light in heart and in deed. Wes had some shadows on his soul and more than a few dark spots on his heart. He never pretended to be a saint however. No, Wes Jones wasn’t always the nicest guy on the block, but he never pretended to be otherwise.

“Sami and Kam are being awful about the new baby,” Harrison finally replied, breaking Wes from his morose thoughts, rubbing the back of his hand over his eyes. “Every time Kam sees us looking after Hana, he throws a fit, starts crying and will cling to us for hours. Sami asked me the other day if we could give her back and get a puppy instead.”

“Oh,” Wes blinked for a moment and then gave his brother a casual shrug. “They’re just jealous. It’s normal.”

“Normal?” Harrison looked incredulous. “How is that normal? Shouldn’t they be excited? She’s new and she’s their sister. Hell, I was excited when you guys came around.”

“Well, that’s because you’re a freak of nature, Superman,” Wes replied with a roll of his eyes. He just couldn’t help it. Of course, Harrison wouldn’t understand the concept of sibling jealously. He had been the golden boy when they were growing up. He never had to really compete the same way that Wes had to. Middle child syndrome was a very real thing and Wes had never felt a bigger kinship to his nephew Kam than he did that moment. The poor kid was going to have to deal with Sami as the oldest and Hana as the youngest. “It’s normal to hate your siblings. I mean I hated Beth for the longest time when we were little. Bitch got away with everything when we were kids. Still does.”

“You hated Beth? But you guys were close growing up,” Harrison said, staring at Wes like he had been replaced with an alien. On some days, Wes wished that was true particularly on days when he and his ex-girlfriend Bobbi couldn’t decide on a schedule in regards to their two year old daughter Gina.

“We were close when we were teenagers,” Wes corrected. “Because Beth kinda became cool about things and you weren’t, but when we were little, I kinda hated her because she was the baby and everyone adored her, especially Dad. Beth could have committed murder and Dad would have still looked at her like the sun rose and fall on her ass.”

“You say that like you never got away with anything,” Harrison responded, taking his last glass and draining it. He then made a gesture for Wes to pour him another line.

Wes paused for a moment, studying his older brother. He got just gotten to the bar and Harrison had seven glasses in front of him. Harrison was a relatively large guy who would look comfortable on a college football line and he could certainly hold his liquor, but Wes wasn’t sure exactly how many shots he had prior to the seven empties. To be safe and somewhat responsible for once (irony of this was not lost on him), Wes poured his older brother a pint of lager instead. Harrison scowled in response, but said nothing about the change.

“I did get away with things, but it wasn’t because I was the “baby” like she was. I got away with things because I got good at getting around everyone and it’s easy to ignore the middle child. Especially in our family. I mean you were the golden boy. Beth was Daddy’s little sweetheart. Me? I was just the bad kid. The disappointment. Still kinda am,” Wes replied honestly.

“Please tell me that you don’t believe the proverbial pile of shit you just laid on this bar.” Harrison slammed his fist down on the bartop and the sound of it thundered throughout the Rabbit Hole. A few patrons a few seats away looked at Harrison in a mixture of fear and startlement. They took their drinks and located to another table. Smart people. Harrison was known for breaking things when he wasn’t being careful and breaking a bar top would not be out of character for him.

“It’s not shit. It’s the truth,” Wes replied. “I mean, look at you. You’re Sheriff and you’re married to your true love and you’ve got three beautiful if slightly bratty children. And Beth? Beth’s gonna surpass Dad as scourge of the seas, she’s been to more realms than probably everyone that has ever existed and she’s got Jim fucking Hawkins wrapped around her finger. We won’t even touch Henry because he’s just a level of perfection that not even you, the golden Jones boy, can obtain. Me? I’m just-“

“The most powerful magic user in Storybrooke who has surpassed the Dark One, Regina, Gideon and Bobbi in ability if anyone in this damn town would be honest about it. You’re the most cunning and adaptable man who can survive anything that’s thrown at him and not in the bullshit way that Dad survives strictly because Mom won’t lie him die, I mean, like actually survives through sheer force of will and wit. You’re also the most honest man I know. You’ve never pretended to be anything you weren’t. You never tried to be perfect. You were always true to who you were and I admire you for that,” Harrison said fiercely looking Wes straight in the eye. “And you’re absolutely the best father that Gina could ever ask for and she looks at you like you are her biggest hero and you are. She could not have asked for a better father.”

“I’m pretty sure that Gideon might be slightly higher on the Best Dad scale than me,” Wes answered quietly, looking anywhere but at his brother because he honestly can’t handle the emotions that are welling up inside of him. Wes was never big on handling emotions. Emotions weren’t his department. Sarcasm, anger and lust were things he understood and he could handle those three. Anything else was foreign territory.

“No, you’re Gina’s world,” Harrison asserted and the sincerity in his voice made Wes want to crawl in a hole and die. “Seriously, I don’t understand where all of this is coming from, Wes. You’ve always been the cool one out of all of us. You were incredibly popular in school. Everyone always turns to you when they need help, myself included, and I don’t think there’s anyone in this town wouldn’t drop everything to jump in bed with you…still. Honestly, it’s ridiculous how many girls, guys and whatever would line up at the chance just to talk to you.”

“That’s because you would never give them the time of day and I would, Har. Every girl in high school used to look at you and you never noticed. How you managed to realize that Nasira was into you, I will never know…” Wes replied, shifting uncomfortably.

“Well, she made herself very clear,” Harrison replied with a heavy blush that piqued Wes’s curiosity. Perhaps he needed to pay his sister-in-law a visit and ply her with some good wine to get the story out of her. “And it’s not that I didn’t notice…I did…it’s just…”

Harrison trailed off and decided to finish his beer in a fashion that Wes could only describe as speed chugging. Wes waited patiently for him to finish and when Harrison slammed the glass down, Wes immediately took it and started to clean it instead of pouring another. Harrison gave him a dark look.

“You didn’t finish your story,” Wes explained. “And you’re not getting another beer until you tell me why you never hooked up with anyone outside of Nasira.”

“You really want to know?” Harrison looked down at his hands, color rising high in his cheeks. “The real reason is because whenever anyone looks at me they don’t see me. They see Dad. And one time, at party, I was kissing this girl and she called me Hook.”

Wes couldn’t help the disbelieving laugh that escaped his throat. He stepped back, his arms spread protectively across his stomach in hopes that he wouldn’t bust a gut from the force of his laughter. Harrison glowered at him, obviously not happy with his brother’s response to the confession.

“No! That didn’t happen!” Wes snickered, wiping the tears that had sprung from his eyes.

“It did,” Harrison responded grimly.

“Oh man, oh man.” Wes shook his head, trying to stave off his laughter. “Oh god, that…that’s both the most hilarious and the most disturbing thing I have ever heard in my life. I hope you discussed that trauma in therapy.”

“I did. Still do in fact,” Harrison responded. “Archie and I have discussed it much at length. I think he’s almost as disturbed by it as I am.”

“Jesus,” Wes shaking his head as he picked up a glass and poured his brother another beer. He deserved it after that big reveal. He’s not sure he would have survived if the same ordeal had happened to him. It explained so much about his older brother and why he had been so gun shy around women and so uncomfortable taking comments about his appearance. “I gotta know though. Who was it?”

“I’m never telling you that. It will literally change your entire perception of her and I don’t think I can do that to you because once I say it, you won’t be able to think of anything else,” Harrison replied.

“Do I even want to know what you lads are talking about?” Killian Jones asked his sons as he sat down at the bar next to Harrison, regarding both of his sons with an arched eyebrow. Speak of the Devil and he shall appear.

Harrison and Wes exchanged a look as they regarded their father. Wes couldn’t help letting out one last snicker and Harrison gave him murderous look over his pint glass, silently warning him that he wasn’t afraid to pick up his younger brother and toss him over his head WWE style. Wes took the message to heart. He knew better than to test Harrison who could probably bench press twice Wes’s weight.

“We were just discussing Harrison’s brat problem,” Wes said casually as he poured his father two fingers worth of rum and passed him the glass casually. “Sami and Kam aren’t happy about little baby Hana. They’re a bit jealous.”

“Ah. That’s normal. It will pass. Both of you didn’t take too kindly to new additions,” Killian responded as he took the glass, tipped his head in thanks and took a healthy drink. The old pirate smacked his lips a bit as the liquor went down his throat and Wes someday hoped to get on his father’s drinking level.

“Wait! Both of us? I thought Harrison was all excited for us,” Wes remarked, glancing at Harrison out of the corner of his eyes. Harrison looked confused by his father’s comments, thick eyebrows knitted together in puzzlement.

“He was excited about Beth because Beth was a girl and he didn’t have to share his toys like he did with you,” Killian corrected, fixing them both with a small smirk. “Harrison nearly threw a riot when we came home with you and refused to even look at you. He hid all of his toys for weeks because he thought you were going to steal them.”

“And right, I was,” Harrison muttered under this breath. “I never got the firetruck back.”

“Oh, fucking hell! You’re not bringing up the firetruck again! I honestly have no recollection of a firetruck! You cannot keep giving that up, Har! You’re thirty-one fucking years old!” Wes responded in annoyance, raking his hands through his long blonde hair in frustration.

“The firetruck?” Killian frowned for a moment. “You mean the one that Dave got you when you were five that made the siren noises and lit up? I hated that thing. I threw it out. That thing was a menace.”

“So I actually didn’t steal it?” Wes blurted out the question before he could even think. He cringed internally at how that question sounded. “So Harrison has been holding this over my head for years for no reason?”

“Not the firetruck no, but you did take a lot of things from Harrison and Harrison hid a lot of things from you. Your mother likes to call it call the Four Years Treasure Hunt whenever we talk about it. However, we’re getting off topic with this firetruck nonsense,” their father remarked, giving them both pointed look over his glass. “The point is that it’s completely normal for kids to be jealous of new arrivals in the family and it’s your job as parents to remind them that new additions aren’t going to replace them or take their toys or whatever the issue is.”

“How do you suppose we do that, oh wise silver fox?” Wes asked with a raised eyebrow and Harrison nearly choked on his beer. He glared at Wes as he coughed, giving himself a thump on the chest.

Killian set his glass down and Wes watched as his eyebrow rose nearly to his hairline in response to the name that he had been given. His blue eyes darted between his sons as if he was trying to discern what exactly he had missed prior to his arrival to the bar. Half of Wes wanted to tell his father Harrison’s story just to see his reaction, the other half that desperately wanted to live to see Gina graduate from high school knew to refrain.

“I’m not going to even question where that came from,” Killian responded finally. “I’m going to stay on track here and just advise you to bloody talk to your children and let them know that they’re still special and have a place in the family. Maybe even find an activity to bond over. I would like to think I at least tried to bond with you lads.”

“You did. We just sucked at sword fighting,” Harrison responded with a casual shrug. “Though learning to sail was pretty cool growing up. I’m just hoping Beth doesn’t steal the Jolly before my kids are old enough to learn too. You did good, Dad. If I’m half the father you were, my kids will turn out alright.”

“Beth isn’t stealing the Jolly anytime soon. Beth also isn’t going anywhere anytime soon either so you can relax on that,” Killian replied cryptically. Harrison and Wes looked at each other in puzzlement over that statement, but when their father didn’t elaborate, they let it drop.

“Suck up. Thirty-one years old and you’re still sucking up to Dad,” Wes responded with an affectionate eye roll. There was no heat behind his words. “Though, all kidding aside, yeah. You did pretty okay considering the three hellions you were dealt. I mean Henry is the biggest success out of all of us, but I’m not sure he counts in this regard because he was what? Ten? When you met?”

“He counts and you’re all successes,” Killian responded in a tone that brokered no argument. He flourished it with an eye roll of his own and for a moment Wes considered that he might actually have inherited something from the old man. “Now, the lot of you need to stop focusing on the past and focus on your lives as present. Harrison, your wife just had a baby two weeks. Go home and be with them. Talk to your boys and tell them to that their sister isn’t going to replace them. If they don’t listen, send them my way and Grandpa will spoil them for a day. And you!”

He cut his eye towards Wes for a moment and gave him a grave expression. Wes felt a lecture coming and braced himself for it.

“Stop taking Friday night and weekend shifts at this shithole,” Killian said seriously. “You have a daughter now. You need to spend time with her or you’re going to miss everything. I know that you and Bobbi have brought Gideon into the fold for raising her, but she’s your kid, Wes. You need to step it up. Do I make myself clear, lads?”

Harrison and Wes shared a look for a moment before responding. It seemed parenting didn’t necessarily stop when your children were grown. “Yes, Captain.”
