Okay I started Harlan Coben's Shelter and I just watched three teenagers each taken out one air pod and put them in their ears, and literally was watching thinking "oh what is that. Is that gum. Wait is it cigarettes, why are they putting them behind their ears. It doesn't seem in character to write them as smoke- ohhhhhh. It's air pods. I'm just out of touch with the youths."
