I think a lot of people, especially younger people who weren't integrated into the otherkin community before they started making their kin lists, don't realize that it's always been at it's base a spiritual identity. I'm not a hard gatekeeper, if someone sees like, Bakugo or whatever, and goes "oh shit he's literally me" and doesn't introspect farther than that, I'm not gonna tell them they can't be otherkin. But if you're going around being like "oh yeah I just relate to him, I'm not like these ✨ crazies ✨ who actually believe they're Eda Owlhouse, or a dog, or a dragon lololol" then congrats, you're both ableist as hell and not fucking otherkin man. You just think a character is neat. And that's okay!

Plus a lot of people are forgetting that otherkin and therian overlap widely. Hell, I bet a lot of newer self identified kin folk don't even know what therian is. When people genuinely new to the kin community ask me for my kin list, they're surprised and confused when I say deerkin, dragonkin. They think when I say I'm angelkin, specifically Lucifer, that I identify as a blorbo from their shows, and no I don't. Otherkin doesn't mean you identify as blorbo from your shows. I mean, it totally can! That's also extremely valid, our old host fully identified as Sam Winchester and The Batter on top of these other kintypes. But it's not JUST that, and in tired of getting erased and added to like, cringe comps by PEOPLE WHO CALL THEMSELVES OTHERKIN because I want to connect to my spirituality.

Also, when I say "people who call themselves otherkin" I mean literally just that- not that I think these people are faking or whatever. But if you're kin-for-fun and are self-identifying and CHOOSING this community, learn your history. Respect the people who's experiences you don't understand. Iirc, otherkin in the form I'm familiar with has existed since the 70's. Therians even longer before, though I'm admittedly not as educated on that one because I don't generally ID as therian despite having deer as a kintype and "qualifying".

It's, at it's core, a spiritual identity, and y'all are forgetting that. It's not a funny little roleplay game, that's being a furry or a cosplayer. Which is fine! I am also both of those! But if you're coming into the otherkin community, as a newer otherkin or an outsider, do your research. Talk to people who've been in the community for a while. I've been here for what, like nine or ten years now. Some of my mutuals and other friends even longer. It's more than just "lol I'm soooo like komeda 🤪" and while yeah that can be part of it, we have such a more in-depth and RICH history.

I used to get death threats and gore because I was openly otherkin. Now, being "a kinnie" is more normalized, but only within a very narrow window of expression that can go TikTok trending. Im glad these kids can express themselves without having to worry about what I did. But so many turn around and make fun of those of us who genuinely feel a spiritual connection to our kintype, and it's disheartening.

final savage reclears this week. for various annoying reasons there was a last minute comp change with one of the healers going melee and me getting shoved into a ranged spot (😒), the upshot of all which was a lot of stupid wipes and having to put off 4 until tonight. which took nearly two hours because people would not stopping shitting the bed (in part due to the fucking. last minute comp change. appo hates). i do hate ending on a tilt session but on the other hand: it's over, so there's that. didnt get any spare weapons/coffers, but the glam this tier is fairly mid and the chances of needing a brush for fru are low so whatever.

to nobody's surprise whatsoever, dsr ended up being a bust. i put in my notice because i was tired of being shit and the group ended up imploding so uh yeah. idk if i can be arsed to try tea again (or go dsr in pf). i'm kinda bored with the game tbh so i will probably just quit until 7.1.

i don't know if im going to bother with fru. ask me again in december. i will go back for the fsh content for sure but other than that? i commit to nothing.

going to look for another blind static for next tier though. i miss blind prog, even if im not the best at it. cringe caster centric strats and emoji raidplans, aw yeah

I'm not trying to excuse theft, I'm just saying committing a crime doesn't mean some guy who's richer than you should be able to make tons more money posting the video of you getting caught to his youtube cringe comp before turning you over to the police who will, statistically, make your life a living hell, if not end it completely.

This is also NOT me trying to blame victims or anything like that, no one should have to worry that their stuff is gonna get stolen, but like...we live in a world where you do have to worry about that sometimes, and this dude has the privilege of it being really, REALLY easy for him to stop this from happening, and instead he's just exploiting the situation for money.

This leads into my real issue here: which is with the cultural idea that criminals deserve to be treated like shit and shouldn't have a say in what happens to their likeness or their families, bcs sure, maybe they did something wrong, but doing something wrong doesn't mean you forfeit your human rights. Even if the people in those videos were all loser cishetallo abled white middle-class teenagers doing it on a dare or for a quick buck they STILL don't deserve to have their bodies, cars, and homes blasted all over the internet before getting turned over to an organization that specializes in Making Things Worse and Killing People.

I don't think people should steal packages, I really don't. It's a form of crime that does real harm and actually affects a lot of poor people, but harsher punishments aren't going to solve things--they never do--the cops certainly aren't going to solve things, and so this youtuber has a choice; either do what he can to prevent people from stealing his stuff, privately or in a video where he builds something if he wants to monetize it, or solve nothing and continue baiting people into committing a crime before blasting them all over the internet for his own benefit and then turning them over to the "Make Things Worse and Kill People" Squad.

And I mean, I have a hard time believing he even cares about stopping package thieves?? Bcs if they stop he's going to stop being able to make money off of them and his glitter bomb videos get LOADS of views so like?? Plus in some of his videos there are multiple people who seem to be the thieves' friends or family and they DEF don't deserve to be put all over the internet bcs of a decision they did not make. It just shows he really isn't thinking long-term about the way his videos could affect people beyond a quick reaction shot or what's on the line for someone in a less privileged position than he is.

But yeah, I mean, you're right, he isn't the Source Of All Things Evil In The World, and it's not his fault the penal system and the cops suck balls and are racist and shit, my rant just focused on him bcs he's the one who's normalizing treating criminals like they aren't human and working with the fucking cops to his 24 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS when he has a choice to simply Not Do That, and idk I just think when you have a platform as big as the one he does you need to recognize the power you hold before you go around using it the way he does.

But it's clearly not about stopping crime or keeping his packages safe to him, it's about how he thinks he has free reign to torment anyone who crosses him and then make money off the carnage. Bcs criminals are Bad and deserve to be Punished. Even if that punishment is blown out of proportion, or inhumane, or life-ruining, or gets someone killed. It's "deserved".

when are you all actually going to take ableism seriously? i mean it. how many fucking times do we have to have this god damn conversation until it gets hammered into your heads that the opposition and oppression we face is serious. i get it, a lot of you think it's funny to watch cringe comps of autistic people having meltdowns. a lot of you like following drama going on with "deluded" disabled tiktokers. if it's funny it's easy to excuse right? theyre cringey so they deserve it. theyre weird so they deserve it.

it's so normal because it's so easy to other us and take advantage of us. exploitation for views for money for sympathy— from parents to teachers to strangers. those of us who cannot speak for ourselves are spoken for by people unlike us and without our best interesgs at heart and those of us who can speak are treated as if we really don't know better and aren't capable of it.

i want to make it clear i no longer a give hit about an f1 driver saying ableist slurs. there will be no closure to that, no one will ever get an actual apology. thats his problem. i made my peace with everything going on with him a long time ago. the only reason i keep up with it is because of my media papers where i am using f1 as an example in my focus on sports journalism.

what IS my problem and the problem of other disabled motorsport fans is when people excuse what he's said because they either 1. don't take ableism seriously (so are likely to commit it towards disabled people because its not 'really' a minority group). or 2. are just straight up openly ableist and want to harm disabled fans.

like i mean it now when i say dont give a shit if you like or dislike this driver. hes a celebrity. i don't care about celebrities, i havent for a good few months now and my god is it refreshing.

i care about being able to enjoy racing while knowing i'm not going to see some half-wit who can't be bothered to learn of their own accord, dropping slurs with the excuse that they're not offensive in english when they're still slurs no matter the language. i am here to watch cars and some funney racing people. not to have people repeat eugenecist rhetoric while i am trying to watch cool overtake.

now that one of his fans is seriously trying to excuse their own use of these slurs and the presence of ableism in their life and their country as a whole; while trying to convince people that there is a hate campaign for their driver going on while comparing death threats to complaints about his bigoted behaviour can people actually recognise this as dangerous to other fans? even within his own fan circle?

if youre a fan of this dude, cool, go for it. it literally doesnt hurt me. just fucking get rid of the people who will PLEASE. because i know there are minority groups who have offered important opinions on this discourse (people of colour, lgbtqa+,disabled etc) as fans of his and they'll hurt those people too.

i seriously feel insane thinking i am the only one seeing this shit. the fan with the openly advertized radfem sideblog when theres a good chunk of his fans who are trans men. this moron who is okay with ableism therefore ableism=okay when ive met and known quite a few disabled fans of his. all the fucking weird anti-feminists hiding in the corners of the fanbase when theres a ton of especially teen women and girls who can be seriously harmed by that crap.

i dont super like that these people like this guy but i also need to put my concern for the wellbeing of people who are within my minority groups and who intersect with it commonly because that mutual support is a lot more important than whether or not so and so likes whatever driver. i'd rather everyone have fan fights about whichever fucking white man of the month drive car good with the knowledge none of us are going to be fucking hatecrimed.

there are necessary conversations to be had about supporting a driver when they continue to act in certain ways or support people of dubious backgrounds. but can we at least as a bottom line look to the people being open freaks over this shit and collectively block and not interact with them. like can the slurs at LEAST be a nono in the fanbase PLEASE

am i insane? what the fuck is happening here? a slur is still a slur no matter the language its in. just because ableism is normalized in a culture doesn't mean its suddenly okay. it just means that ableism is more commonplace and acceptable to people within that culture. disabled people are still harmed by it. refusing to say a slur in english but saying it in your native language still makes you ableist regardless of whether or not you think it's a slur. you do not get to decide that and to tell disabled people to make allowances for when you or people like you use them. i dont give a shit if you as a neurotypical person don't find ableist slurs offensive. using the "it's part of our culture' excuse is an insult to every Dutch person I've met whose learnt what these words mean and have made steps to unlearn these things and do better. you've admitted you're still using them. you're disgusting.
