It's hard to get away from her, Wednesday constantly has her eyes on you. Enid has noticed Wednesday's agog behavior and decided to subtly, or not so subtly, try to help. Both, Enid and Wednesday, take different approaches to get to know you. Enid taking the "making friends" route and Wednesday taking the direct route. Unfortunately for both, you showed animosity. It may not have been long since everyone stopped talking to you but long enough for you to get comfortable in the loneliness.

Neither of them stops though. Wednesday's inquisitiveness knows no bounds, and Enid doesn't stop because Wednesday doesn’t stop. Both seemed determined to get something out of you, what it is you’re not sure, but you're not willing to give them an inch. Whenever you spot them in the hallway you turn the other way, and you ignore them no matter how complex their attempts are. The closest they'll get is in shared classes or waiting for lunch. Luckily for them, all three of you are chosen for a group project. The fun can finally begin.

How you managed to get so unfortunate is beyond you, but here you are. Stuck with the very people you spent all your time avoiding. Sitting on the opposite side of the table to maintain some space. Eyes flickering between your groupmates while they bicker, that's certainly a way to ask someone why they're an outcast. You’re not surprised to hear it worded that way though, it’s blunt, just the way Wednesday is. Debating whether to be vague or precise, you decide on the former.

"I have powers."

Both their gazes snap to you, unwavering and burning into your skin. Wednesday's eyebrows furrow in the slightest while Enid's lips stretch into a bright smile. You spoke. Neither thought they would feel accomplished by simply making someone speak. But, they both knew you had powers, that's the reason you're here. You've only spoken to Wednesday once, saying only two words, she supposes this is an improvement. 

Before anyone gets another word in, the teacher comes around to give the paper explaining the project. That's good, you feel like you spoke too much. Each of you read over the paper and quickly realized that it'll take more than just a couple of minutes to finish the project. Both Enid and Wednesday are elated, they can finally get somewhere with breaking down those thick walls you built. Wednesday looked up just in time to see your shoulders sag a minuscule amount. Why? Is it her or Enid? If it is her, why were you so bothered with the idea of being close to her? She has barely spoken to you, what did she do to make you-

"Hey, why don’t you come over to our dorm tonight?" Enid finally pipes up after reading the paper, "We could knock out some of the project and get to know each other a little! Wednesday and I are roommates and our dorm is pretty big,"

Wednesday's eyes never left you, she saw your shoulders sag earlier and now she watches as you tense. It's not much, she's sure Enid didn’t notice. She can see a debate behind your eyes, another thing she's sure Enid didn’t notice. It's a quick debate, she's sure you didn't want the decision to take long. "Okay, yeah that's fine. Just tell me when and where," it's softly said, almost as if you were hesitant to say it.

You start packing your things while discussing the finer details for tonight, once you're about to walk away Wednesday says, "If you don't show up I'll introduce you to the sharp end of my knife collection.", does she realize the threats don't bother you much? Maybe she just likes to threaten people, either way, you face them to see Enid's distraught facial expression, worried Wednesday would scare you away. Laughing softly you say, "I look forward to it," all your prior animosity is completely gone.

You're eager to get this little meeting over with. You'd never admit it, but you're nervous. You check the time to realize you're at their door a little early. Deciding there isn't time to do anything else you knock on their door, it's solid enough to disturb the clacking you hear inside, but it wasn't hard enough to disturb neighbors. You hear quick footsteps before the door is yanked open, revealing Enid. "Wednesday's writing time isn't over yet so we can get started when she's done," with a nod she lets you in and you take in the contrasting decorations. Immediately knowing which side belongs to who, the next thing you notice is the hand.

"Don’t worry about him, that's Thing," he waves at you, you've seen him before. You've never spoken to him though, too busy trying to avoid him or lose him in the sea of students. Simply waving back as a greeting, he seems satisfied and turns his attention to the magazine in front of him. You're quiet after that, not knowing what to do or what to say. Enid takes notice though, inviting you over to her side of the room. Taking a seat on the floor and pulling out a book and just as you're about to open it you hear Wednesday's chair scrape against the floor. Looking up to see her staring right at you, it's slightly unnerving. Deciding now would be a good time to start on the project, you pull out your textbook and put it on the floor in front of you, and open it. The others followed suit, even Thing decided to perch himself on your shoulder and just hang out there.

The night goes by without issues, they don't try to pry into your life even if you can tell they want to. Wednesday's stares don't stop unless she looks away to write something down or to look in the textbook. Throughout the night you learn Thing is quite funny, pointing to things in the textbook that looks funny or saying something not relating to the topic at hand. Every time Thing managed to pull a breathy laugh or a small smile from you Wednesday's eyes would soften just slightly, not enough for you to notice but enough for Enid and Thing. Enid managed to get in on the stuff Thing was doing and was laughing along as well. Enid claimed we did enough for the night, a good portion of the project already done.

 "We made good progress, depending on the speed you'd like to continue the work, we could be done in a couple of days," you said stretching your legs and extending your arms over your head. Enjoying the stretch and the popping in your joints, noticing the balcony you ask, "Is it alright if I step out onto the balcony?" after receiving the affirmatives you head out into the night air.

Wednesday notes this is the most you've ever spoken, even if not directly to her. This is the most she's heard your voice, the most she's been able to look at your face without obstructions, the most she's been able to just soak in your presence. Wednesday would rather cut her tongue out than admit she likes it, any of it. Thing starts to tap on the floor and make wild gestures,

"He's not wrong Wednesday, don't think we don't see it," Enid says in a teasing voice.

"See what exactly?" Wednesday responds, voice tight with annoyance.

"You like her-" immediately cut off by Wednesday, "Allude to anything like that again and you'll be sleeping with one eye open until we're no longer roommates,"

Wednesday walks towards the balcony with the intent to join you. The first thing Wednesday notices when she steps outside is the chill, it's too cold not to have a jacket. The next thing is the fact that you're not wearing a jacket. "You'll get sick if you stand out here without a jacket," slowly turning your head to meet her gaze you nod in agreement.

"I didn't notice how cold it is. It feels nice though."

"Is that part of your powers?" Wednesday asks quickly. You knew it was coming, but you still don't want to answer.

"No," the moon was coming out, signaling you to head back. Turning on your heels, sighing, heading back towards the warm room, "I think it's about time I leave."

"Why?", stopping in your tracks. What? Why what? That's such a vague question. You don’t know how to properly answer. You think about just letting her hear some of your thoughts, you'll be stuck with them until the project is done anyway. 

"I haven't talked to people in a long time, but you guys are warm. I don't think it's something I deserve to be around...", turning to look at her, a despondent look on your face. Wednesday never wants to see that look on your face again. "Goodnight Wednesday.", resuming the way inside to gather your things and say bye to Enid and Thing. That's not what Wednesday was asking, not the answer she wanted, but she thinks you're completely wrong. Wednesday desperately wants to prove you wrong.

You learned a couple of things tonight. Wednesday's warmth will burn you if you're not careful, you think she fits the "Cold hands, Warm Heart" metaphor. Enid's is a warmth that's gentle if you're on the right side of it. Coming to the realization you're cold, too cold to be near people like that. You wonder how long it will take for them to realize you'll suck their warmth right from their chest.

This is obviously BEYOND MY WILDEST FUCKING DREAMS AND I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH HOLY SHIT. I didn't even realize it until I added it all together. (On top of this, we sold several fucking tens of thousands of games for Games for Gaza!! Hell yeah!)

For my fellow solo devs out there, this comes to Slasher U making a total of about $6,000 + $2,000 net USD through sales (the former) and crowdfunding (the latter, for Slasher U: Act 2) over the last 11ish months!! The game started off being free for the first 6ish months, then went to $6.69 for the Beta (with dong! whoa!!), and now at its full size, stands at a good ol' $14.99 for 15 hours of primo datin' sim!

This is objectively the most money I've ever made off of anything I've developed in my entire life, and paid my whole ass rent for the entire year, so THANK YOU HOLY SHIT. No, okay, but for real, I started working in games professionally in 2009 (yeah yeah i'm old. i am 32 and i am dying and they're coming for me in the corpse wagon etc) and I burned out in 2016 and came back two years ago with THIS THING and I can tell you RIGHT FUCKIN' NOW that, if you have ever wanted to make a game and the big guys aren't gonna do it, grab yourself and/or some friends and fuckin' make a video game. I have worked for a bunch of AA and mobile companies and I can tell you right the fuck now that this is the most fulfilling experience I have ever had writing a video game. I taught myself programming logic to make this thing! And sound design! I fucking learned to animate sprite sheets!! YOU CAN ALSO DO IT given the time and energy (pace yourself don't die)! And there won't be any execs around to tell you your weird niche game won't sell!! BECAUSE IT FUCKING WILL

Anyway, my entire career as a game designer, nobody let me write shit for them. You don't need permission to make stuff or write stuff. If you write it, they will fuckin' come, Field of Dreams style (also don't forget to tell everyone you made stuff and share it around. super key here. lmao). Turns out writing is all about sharing yourself with people, and who knows, you might just find that a fuckton of people ACTUALLY relate to you. (And that you're a pretty good writer. Which you knew. so in no particular order, here are the five fics i liked the best/am the most proud of!

considering that everything i’ve written on this account (240k words of it good lord) was published since february 23rd, i’ve got a lot to work with!

i was in the fandom back in 2012-2013 until 2016-2017, and when i rewatched it recently with some friends, i realized just how many words and feelings had been broiling since. i wrote a LOT for spn back in the day (not published, just for the pure joie de vivre), but everything on the ao3 is completely new since feb!

1. tell me, why are you still so afraid?

or, the "what do you want, sam?" fic. this one might be a surprise! it did moderately well, but i'm really happy with it! i love writing weechesters/pre-series, and i hope this fic did them justice! it hit a lot of points i liked, and i had so much fun writing it!! i'm proud of it! :)

2. you're pretty when you don't speak

or, sam's wife pov. i was shocked!!! aghast!!! frankly agog!!! at how much folks loved this one! i had the idea in the shower of all places, lmao, just the idea that wait, being sam's wife must be so lonely. it was not the usual fare (and written in second-person pov), so i was expecting it to gently and quietly flop. but no! i wrote this fic in two sittings at one a.m. the night before a paleopathology exam, so i'm shocked any of it was coherent in the morning. thank you, dear reader, if you interacted w it at all! :)

3. romans 3:10-11

ahh, romans. to other folks that write, this was one of those fics that scratched in my bones until i sat down and wrote it all out. does that sound pretentious? it was stifling; it was all i could think about. even now, i look back on it and feel like there are things that are missing, extended scenes and extra themes that i wished i had teased out. the response was overwhelming and positive and i'm so glad you lot liked it! if you ever want more...idk...lemme know...

4. we didn't get it right, but love we did our best

or, the Heaven fic! this one took awhile to make, and a lot out of me to do! it's the longest fic i've made this year, by a lot! the planning process was a lot of fun (even though charlotte was mostly asleep), and i even colour-coded themes and turning points i wanted to include. the sense of accomplishment when it was done was a great part of this year!

5. there's no such thing as a clean break, when your heart starts bleeding out

or, the stanford!era fic where dean bleeds out on the highway and decides to not tell sam about it. one of my favorite things to write is a character getting more and more out of it as they lose control (or blood), and this one was a fun challenge! i love stanford!era dean, because he's so mangled and angry and sad. i feel like that one tweet that william shatner posted where he said ELECTROCUTE HIM!!! this also feels the most like the things i wrote back in 2014, so it brings nostalgia :,)

this was WAY harder than i thought! i loved and was so proud of so much of my work this year! a top ten would be easier, but i'm happy with this list!

Yeah, I feel like I could dip my toes in a little. Marco and Ace are adopted brothers, and Sabo is Ace's honorary brother with Luffy, and Sabo and Luffy live with the other boys, and they're not like, outsiders, but the vibes/connection between Sabo and Marco isn't really brotherly.

Sabo's a little too independent and I feel like he has weird feelings about Siblings because of Stuffy, or Sterry or whatever the heck that guy's name is.

Sabo and Marco are both pretty open minded on top of it, so they're not likely to get physical with one another without the reader there, but they're not against adding to whatever pleasure is happening, even if it means interacting with one another. I feel like Sabo calls you his little dove, or songbird, and Marco calls you pretty bird, and they'll refer to you as their little bird or sweet dove when it's relating you to both of them.

There's gonna be at LEAST one time where the Reader gets a leg up on Marco and Sabo - and probably only because Thatch, Izou and Ace help her set everything up. XD Some kind of surprise or something and they both come home at the same time and are just agog by it and it's her victory until they pick their jaws up off the floor and turn the tables XD

Similar as they are, Sabo's a little meaner behind closed doors, enjoying teasing and overstimming and edging and please do cry oh so sweetly for him, but just for him, no one else is allowed to make you cry.

Marco's a little sweeter, he loves to hear you sing for him, struggling in whatever binds or sensory deprivations he's got going.

The two of them together are overwhelming, which is a reason why most of your forays with either are 1:1 and not 2:1.

One of the first real issues between the three of them is Shanks, who is just as sweet on you as he is on Marco, and that first little pang of jealously when he starts wooing Marco that the reader feels is the first "oh, I'm jealous." A little self-doubt like maybe you shouldn't try to get near Marco cause Shanks is closer to his age, and gorgeous (and maybe you shouldn't get near Sabo cause Koala is closer in age, and gorgeous)

this show has absolutely floored me btw. i am agog. the themes were themeing, the performances were performing... i honestly think s2 was better than the first series and that's saying something because I really enjoyed s1. definitely one of the better tv shows i've seen in a while

i'm just gonna get out my thoughts so spoilers for s2 of iwtv

i was mildly spoilered on here but not in a way that matters ❤️ (also I'm not someone who cares about spoilers that much lol so I wasn't blacklisting) like it really made no difference, because the things I saw were either very predictable (claudia dying, lestat returning in general) or made no sense out of context and the main beats were still as impactful as they were meant to be, I think. I could NOT have predicted lestat returning the way he did, either in new orleans or at the (count olaf voice) theatre

speaking of the theatre, what a GREAT device that was. from a technical standpoint the set and visuals were absolutely gorgeous and just so effective. and SANTIAGO. what a delight to watch him on my screen. great chemistry with the other cast members. i particularly enjoyed how he was played off lestat at the trial, the tensions were crazy and you could see this guy who was used to the limelight being suddenly dimmed by lestat's command of the audience. his death was great but kind of a shame just because he was so entertaining to watch lol

lestat. like i said sam reid was born to play this character and he absolutely eats up the scenery like WHAT a performance, start to finish. ive seen some "discourse" about he sucks and i feel like that's not the point. they are all evil because they are vampires who kill people so let's start there. Anyway, he was brilliant as always, his vulnerability AND his exuberance and all of it. lestat they could never make me hate you❤️

the scene at the end between between louis and lestat amidst the hurricane in new orleans... i had my hand over my mouth the entire time, i was GASPING i was heartbroken. jacob anderson another impeccable performance as louis, absolutely smashed it. the chemistry between reid and anderson is WILD whenever they're around each other i am going insane

armand, i'm so obsessed with him. he really got to let loose this season after being somewhat understated for most of s1 and assad zaman DELIEVERED. boy did he deliver. i absolutely love him, i am naming my three children after him

claudia 💔 it was obvious what was coming since she was introduced in s1. delainey hayles brought such complexity to the role. i can't believe she's english like jacob anderson, admittedly my familiarity with new orleans accent is limited so idk how well they did. madeleine was also excellent. im insane about it

daniel molloy both younger and elder.... so good. loved seeing the friendship growing between him and louis and their history. loved seeing him and armand being insane in a room together. daniel molloy the accidental couples therapist that you are ❤️

other notes:

i am glad i'm not french because i think their accents would bother me lol. (gus fring breaking bad's spanish really took me out of what was otherwise a great performance). Even while not speaking French I could tell a few were meh, especially secondary actors. But I also know this must be difficult to do, and if it doesn't impact the performance too much it's fine.

the sartre cameo and daft punk reference.. im lmao. but apart from that the level of detail and care given to recreating post war paris... just phenomenal

i'm starting to think maybe i just like vampires. I was always like 'vampires arent really my thing and buffy is the exception' but idk idk maybe i'll read the books

Day 3 of playing Love and Deepspace and I have to say that I'm still enjoying it! There're a lot of things to do here. I feel like the gacha system is okay, compared with other gacha-based games. Though I'm not sure if that will change when the official version is released.

As for the storyline, I don't know lmao. I'm just going with the flow, and so far it hasn't incensed me in any way. The combat feature prevents me from bulldozing through the chapters, though. Is there a lock-on feature during combat? I don't think I saw it. I just dread when the battles require minimum levels -- I haven't invested much on levelling up my cards lol.

But, see, the thing that I'm most invested about in this game, is the dating feature LOL

There are so many ways that you can interact with your fave man! Social media, text, call, coffee date -- god, you can even touch his ass and he reacts so cutely I wanna cry 😭🙏 The 1st-person POV here is interesting! And since you can customize MC's appearance (at least the face), you can somewhat feel that you're truly involved in the story (or at least the romantic ones).

So while the SR and SSR cards both have featured stories, it's different in that SR cards mainly have audio stories (like a drama CD! my drama-CD-loving self is agog with joy) and SSR cards have the full set, so to speak.

I love these features, I really do. But you know what makes me love it more? CN voices 😂 I think for this beta version I can only access the EN voices and hoo boy. Unfortunately it's a miss for me. I don't think the EN voices had captured the nuances of the characters' personalities. Like, take Rafayel (Qi Yi) for example. In the CN and even JP versions, he has a slightly higher (nasal?) voice pitch, and he's a little bratty and a diva (affectionate). You can glean from the way he behaves and moves in the interaction feature that he has that kind of personality. His EN voice diminishes that, however. His EN voice is deeper and has this tone and accent that is distinctively American (Californian? I ... don't know, but it's def American), and it's taking me out so much 😂😭 He could also be a little brattier in his enunciations. He didn't even react similarly to CN and JP versions in that famous face-grabbing interaction. I'm inclined to think that the voice actors were given the scripts with just a brief character description without showing them some extensive scenes, and these are not the final versions. Hopefully the EN voices improve in the official game. (Still, CN voices all the way for me.)

What else? The music. The soundtrack of this game is absolutely gorgeous. I can listen to it all day.

I hope that there's a way to keep the items we get in this version for the official game? I understand going back to square one, but I do want to keep the diamonds and other materials (and the cards? lol) because they're important haha.

legit wonder if "Shame Itself" is doing an incredible job of branding itself to look Bigger and Spookier than it really is. i mean. it's worked? i talk about it like it's a Super Special Member Of The Brain Family, like it's the singular ghost that haunts the whole crew.

because yes absolutely, every single other part of me is scared of it. nobody wants to have shame's attention.

but i'm here a little bit like, ah, you're pulling a Wizard of Oz. my partner's here all, "hey bud uh. you wanna take a leaf out of all the books you keep recommending and work to shrink that inner critic?" and there's part of me that is a little agog, as though it's a shock to hear this beast, this shadow-creature, reduced to something as banal as an "inner critic"

another young and helpless part of me that has got incredible at putting on a Spooky Monster Voice so we never do the things that it learned were Bad and Wrong? pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. it's literally playing that whole, "you don't want to talk to me, i'm a DANGEROUS ASSHOLE, look, i'm making loud noises at you and i know you're scared of loud noises ,so if i do this you'll stop trying to do the thing i'm scared of" thing. and i don't think it is, actually, a dangerous asshole.

i think it's a very standard inner critic with access to a stupendous light-and-shadow show. it's a part that is really, really good at playing the villain for the "greater good" - i expect if i do manage to enter dialogue with it, it doesn't actually feel great about the level of manipulation and threat and name-calling it uses to keep everyone else in check. i'm sure it'll probably be there all, "i don't want to do it like this, but i have to, terrible things would happen if i didn't" exactly like every single other protector.

(writing this, i can't help thinking about the dynamic between my parents - i see my mother's view of, "i had to put that pressure on you, your dad would've been worse, i needed you to [go to school/behave/etc] so he would stop telling me all these terrible things would happen if you didn't" in there.)

by framing itself as the Thing That Must Be Obeyed Or Else, it disguises what it's actually scared of: other people shaming me first. almost like it's somehow kinder because it has rules and doesn't want to hurt me really, whereas the outside world could hurt me in ways it can't control. for as long as i'm fighting to be internally accepted, there's no danger of me facing external judgement or shame. it's some really broken logic, but i can't fault its effectiveness.

literally it had this behaviour modeled to it all my life: the best way to not be scared for my wellbeing is to restrain my ability to explore or self-express. just like how my mum thought the best way to process her fear of me experiencing homophobic abuse was to question whether i should really let someone know something like that about me, and that the fear of The World Hurting Me Somehow was to convince me i couldn't manage anything without help - that way i'd never try. if it has to say to me, if you express this part of yourself, everyone will think you're a disgusting childish cringe freak weirdo and want nothing to do with you, you'll be rejected and abandoned, it doesn't consider that saying this makes it sound like it thinks i'm a disgusting childish cringe freak weirdo that nobody should want anything to do with and deserves to be rejected and abandoned. much like either of my parents, it would vehemently deny it thinks that - because it doesn't. it doesn't at all.

it thinks other people might. and that's scary. because it's not wrong - other people might! and i'm sort of working this out on my feet here, but the work is gonna be convincing "shame itself" (lmao) to consider that it's better to tell me i am okay as i am, and if someone else shames me that does not mean i am shameful, and that it wants to see me live uninhibited in the world - it's just that it doesn't want me to be taken by surprise if someone's a dick about it. not everyone is comfortable in themselves and not everyone likes to see someone else doing the things they can't do. that's the message i'd like it to learn is effective.

I'm also a big fan of some Older Games like Jet Set Radio Future. But these days, I really just play Animal Crossing, Pokémon, Mario Kart and Mario Party because we use the Switch as our main console!

OH MY GOD. I was using my last 30 return tickets for the wish tree event, on a quest to hit 144 pulls to redeem a final Kiro - but I pulled TWO in one go?! Plus, leading to this, I finally pulled Gavin and another two Lucien?! Wtf kind of luck omg. Going in I only had pulled Kiro and Lucien and then redeemed for am additional Kiro. oh anon, i am SO excited!!!!! all of the titles have so much potential???????? i’m literally 👀👀👀👀👀 at every single one of them lmao. i haven’t thought through them much yet but let’s go down the line and see what we can come up with:

6x01: Let The Games Begin - i am still Agog over this i can’t decide where it’s gonna go??????? i do think it’ll be bobby/athena heavy and i’m also convinced it’ll be fun but in the kind of chaotic way that leads into the opening disaster

6x02: Crash and Learn - Very intriguing, likely related to the opening disaster in some way so the “crash” part is especially curious if we are going down the cruise route where something happens during the honeymoon. it feels a little like “sink or swim” to me in the sense there’s obviously a double meaning since they’ve reworked the phrase but also that it's gonna be somewhat literal as well

6x03: Animal Instincts - this one is just????????? whAT DOES THAT MEAN?????? if we’re still in the middle of the opening disaster i have no idea where we go with this or how it ties in???????? if we’re not then it’s????? calls about animals??????? but also related to the characters somehow?????? i have no idea lmfao

6x04: Evil - i mean this could literally be anything this is so vague sdkjfhs what i will say is that some of my favourite eps have single word titles and 911 has never written a bad episode 4 so i am Excited

6x05: Home Invasion - definitely henren heavy and likely ending on a cliffhanger to lead into 6x06. i’m assuming there will be a literal home invasion of some sort but they could definitely do a play on words with this too to relate it to a more lighthearted storyline (*cough*buddieroommates*cough*)

6x06: Henren Begins - I. CAN’T. WAIT. this is all i’ve wanted and asked for for literal MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!! i want to see their first date and them adopting denny and their first wedding and also, per a post i made 3 months ago, i need girl on the moon to play by foreigner to play during their first date scene bc karen is a rocket scientist and hen is falling in love w her

6x07: Cursed - i know it’s airing in november but i really hope it’s a proper halloween ep!!!!! if we’re not getting a christmas ep we dESERVE a halloween ep. let it be fun and full of shenanigans please!!!!!

6x08: Pilgrimage - very, very interested in this. i think it’s likely going to have something to do with bobby but possibly also eddie???? also i just feel like it’s going to hurt but in a good way (i think) skadjfhsa

6x09: Warning Signs - i’m scared of this one lmfao. that is a Very Stressful title for a midseason finale ep sakdjfha i do think it’s gonna hint at a character breakdown, be that bobby or buck or hen (as i saw someone theorise earlier) and perhaps the other characters’ not realising (or finally realising) something is wrong. i think there’s a lot of potential here and tbh i wouldn’t be surprised if we’re left with a midseason cliffhanger
