British people are still a mystery I've yet to solve. they're all "keep calm and carry on" even though this *gestures vaguely at everything* is a situation where it would be far more reasonable to freak out and put society to a standstill. but no British people are all "yeah i guess things COULD be better, but that sounds like WORK so we're not gonna" and it reminds me when I was on exchange in Scotland and the amount of homework was tiny compared to what I was used to from Germany and something something working attitude. i called out the brits for being lazy when i was 16 and in the many years since I've only been proven right time and time again

#the laziest of germans went to the uk and immediately became one of the most conscientious and hardworking #make it make sense #I'm a fucking slob by German standards but over here I've very rarely seen anyone work as hard as I do #uk #British culture #uk culture #English culture #though this is by no means an English exclusive #angry brits in my mentions in 3......2......1....#i need a tag for my own rambles #funnily enough most of the ppl I've seen work as hard as i do #are usually not white and usually 1st/2nd gen migrants #H M M M M M M M M #i think homework is evil and i never used to do mine #until i went to Scotland and it took me all of 10 minutes? maybe half an hour for all my subjects combined #i was like clearly less home work is great but also. but also.#and then the unwillingness to work was echoed in class. at uni. in my workplaces #and especially where societal issues are concerned or collective action #you all fall into despair far to easily and way too many of you don't know how to do and handle real talk #too many of you will never acknowledge how you can be racist and profit from a racist society #too many of you will avoid confrontation until the literal only option you can see is cutting someone off #too many of you are just way too content in your misery
