Am I homophobic if I ship jimin with a different man? (Rhetorical)
That jikooker is insane. I kind of feel like it’s secretly a tkkr or kth just trying to cause problems. Notice there are no KTH or other member solo blogs. Only shipper blogs. It must make them jealous people love jimin for his artistry and not just for a ship.
Exactly, if I say I ship Jimin x Saeon I guess I'm clear of all charges. JIMIN SAEON OTP!! (joking)
I don't think that person is a secret tkkr, it's just a very extreme jkkr. Unfortunately shipping sometimes causes these types of reactions because it's based on their own spin of reality, so anyone challenging that will be seen as an enemy, even if happens to be the member himself. The same way an obsessed stalker can be dangerous for an artist, even if they are technically a fan and follow/ buy all their work. Boundaries are necessary.
And you open a very interesting discussion with the last part of your ask, one that I agree with. Maybe someone could correct me, but I really haven't seen solo blogs for other members, at least not that many or relevant. I've seen shipping ones, and I saw one for Th that says they aren't a shipper, but all their followers and interactions come from tkkrs, and they hate Jimin, so if we follow the breadcrumbs... Yet with Jimin we have so many blogs, and even more recent ones like @scholarinbookland @luci-da-mente @jimins-fairy that I'm enjoying so much!
Considering the maknaes are the most popular members, the different type of reach or demographic they have is interesting. And this makes me remember when I first got into twt in 2021 and I was trying to understand this kpop thing, I saw armys with the ⁷ in their names, and I knew it was bc of the 7 members in bts. But I also saw this little 13 in a lot of people's users and thought wow I wonder what band has that many members. And it didn't hit me until years later, that those were Jimin solo fans, and even at a moment when the group was at their peak with rumors of a world tour and massive comeback (that never happened), they were already a very established solo fanbase. He hadn't even debuted as a solo artist yet. So this is VERY interesting to me, and if anyone wants to chime in and give their theories about why this happens it would be really cool.
I personally think it's about Jimin himself and the spectrum of what he does, that as I said is very rich and unique. I want to explore this more later, but if someone wants to contribute you're more than welcome!

I haven't listened to (any new) kpop for like 4 or 5 years, but just looking at your playlist quickly I had to say my favorite is either Shangri-la (my absolute favorite vixx song bc that music video is gorgeous, and my sibling's fav vixx is voodoo doll) or Monster bc when that came out I was obsessed with that song for what feels like weeks. Honestly looking at all the vixx songs I keep remembering just how good they all are and how fun it is to watch their mvs. But I'll definitely have to check out the other songs on your playlist I don't remember listening to!!
Vixx is just great, for real peak kpop for me (maybe I'm a tiny bit biased because they are my ult group) is you like the vixx songs I would definitely recommend listening to some of the TXT stuff from the playlist, some of their songs give me similar vibes to some vixx stuff!!

I gotta rant about this bc my brain won't let me rest
I'm really curious about how dOpamine will sound and how the sound will support the message of the song. I'm always impressed with how good they are at expressing the lyrical message with sound. The peak of that is obviously (in my humble opinion of course) skinz, since the fact that it sounds both aggressive and soft adds a ton of depth to the lyrics.
From what Wookjin said before the brain wave game, I think it's very likely that the topic of the song will be the need for a constant increase in stimulation, maybe it will touch on the theme of obsession as well. Their creative direction seems to be that each new release recontextualizes the previous ones and helps connect them into one larger theme, and this would definitely add more context to stuff like dOra maar or gaslighting.
I think dOpamine could go in two directions in its sound. The first direction would be something to increase the dopamine of the listener, a song that stays exciting by constantly escalating and surprising, maybe by messing around with traditional song structure or adding unusual and unexpected elements. That might be the reason we've gotten a sneak peak of only the first few seconds, both in the MV teaser and album preview. What makes me hesitant as to whether this will happen is that they've never done this sort of thing before and musical plot twists aren't really their thing. Since the album was described as the peak of their musical direction, I don't expect them to suddenly whip out something completely new. I think there is a chance they might use elements we've heard in the art pop remixes, random synths, unexpected pauses, but not anything overly in-your-face like we might be used to with other kpop groups.
The second direction they could take is that the song sounds fairly chill, like something that could have come out in the first two years of their career, and that will shift the meaning away from searching for a dopamine rush to trying to manage and contain excitement. While the first option would certainly appeal to me more musically speaking, I think analyzing the second one and how it connects to their themes would be very interesting.

18. fav variety show ooo for me it's got to be p1harmony's harmony forest season 1 !!! the content writing was so fun and the editing was sooooo funny i have never laughed so hard throughout an entire variety show. i also really love watching horror content and Universe app used to have this series called Stressor Things (it's on KLAP entertainment's yt channel now) and i've watched so many different kpop groups on it ! i'm definitely going to hell for how hard i laugh when watching scaredy cat idols get jumpscared when i'm not exactly that brave myself LOL i think the ateez one is especially memorable, but i haven't had a chance to watch cravity or wei and both of those group have some legendary cowards (affectionate) so i really should LOL

Which artists do you like besides BTS?
What a question! I could talk about music for hours, but I'll try to be brief.
I used to listen to a lot more kpop artists, but decided to take a break because I found the fandom side of things quite exhausting. I particularly liked girl groups such as Red Velvet, Twice, Mamamoo, and a smattering of some solo artists and a couple of songs by other gg's and bg's. I have genuinely no idea what's happening in 4th gen and quite frankly I don't have much interest in following the careers of teenagers. I'm not that old, but the culture makes me feel old. The years of 2017-2019 were my peak interest and everything after is a blur.
I refrained from listening to kpop for a long time because I knew I would get obsessed, and I did. I found BTS in 2017 and changed as a person for the worst (lol) still they did change my life and impacted me as a person and even the music I listen to. I listen to and appreciate so many genres more due to them, especially those not in the English language. I am a cliche ARMY.
Otherwise, I listen to mostly western artists. I have a hard time breaking down who my favs are. I don't stan anybody, because I listen to mostly indie and alternative and that's not really part of the culture. An idea of my favourite artists are: Glass Animals, MorMor, Aldous Harding, Blood Cultures, Young Fathers, Alabama Shakes, Arcade Fire, David Bowie, The Smiths (yeah I know), Talking Heads, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs...I could go on with about 20 more bands. Yes, I listen to a lot of Dad bands. I get excited when I find a band where the artists are actually in their 20's.
If you or have any artists/songs that you would recommend, please share :D

im actually doing a lot better these days (literally just for 2 days, but thats better than nothing) so thanks for wishing me luck.
i actually dont know that many Tauruses eirher... im not super into astrology so idek how theyre supposed to act . i just know that im super super compatible w taerae & thats all that matters 🤷‍♂️
ive been on the grind 💯 lagely so i barelt bave anh time to keep up w kpop and to vote and stfeam and check what jebi r doinf every second anymore. it makes me sad too bc i used to be rly obsessed (i still am bur significantly less) and id know their schedule and everything and check twt every day for updates. for boys planet too. Man in love genuinely changed the trajectory of my life like ik its basic but the momrnt i saw taerae do the hand thing it was over for me. now im a crazy kkultarae.
idrc abt jay tbh. he doesnt rly appeal to me but hes so talebted and so so good at singing. have u been watching build up?
xoxo 🎻
honestly, you're right. being compatible with taerae is literally all that matters. i promise i'm working hard (kinda, sorta) to get that taerae bully chapter out... i hope it's as devastating as i want it to be.
i'm not really a vote/stream kind of person so i understand. there's a lot to be done in life, but i appreciate everyone who does vote/stream to help out my faves. i just am kind of "march to my own drummer" in the way i support and just listen and watch variety content and write my little fics and stuff. but i wish i had more friends to talk to about kpop. it's hard to hold my tongue around my irl friends all the time 💀
i love jay bc he's a new jersey boy tbh. i live one state away so i could easily maladaptive daydream about bumping into him some day in the city 😭😭 i'm not watching build up, even though i like a bunch of the boys on it (i was a huge peak time fan last year too). but i don't want to see my faves stressed out anymore, i've had enough for now lol.
i'm glad you've been feeling better!! sending more positive energy your way 💕💗

It's really interesting how Kingdom and E'Last have like... The same loved spot in my heart as favourite groups. Like, sure I have multiple favourite groups but around those my brain is always revolving around the most when it comes to the concepts and theories and the designs and everything.
They're just really special to me and have concepts like, imo, no other group. Obviously, a lot of groups have darker/mysterious concepts but especially Kingdom just really GOT ME with the lore. The theories. The characters. The settings. The outfits.
And then E'Last, especially Tears of Chaos, Dark Dream and Creature had such a great mysterious vibe and the outfits are just top tier.
Also, both bands I discovered randomly on YouTube, which the further I got into kpop, got less and less frequent because I end up hearing about a group a couple of times before checking them out. For Kingdom, when Excalibur came out and for E'Last, Tears of Chaos. It just peaked my interest immediately, the title, the thumbnail and when watching them I was immediately sold and got sucked into the fandom. :'D
And whenever one of the bands has a comeback I come back to obsessing over everything around it as in talking a lot about them to friends, looking for new content, listening to the music all day, making theories (more just for Kingdom but hsjshd)... It's like when a show you love airs a new episode in a way. But also, when one band has a comeback I will eventually also go back to focusing on the respective other one all over again and then it will jump around in my head between them.
Doesn't help that currently I am absolutely obsessed with Tokusatsu which won't stop anytime soon, and still are so much into Yakuza so all of those 4 things are rotating in my brain 24/7 help .
At the same time I'm also sad both Kingdom and E'Last don't get NEARLY the fame and hype they deserve. But it seems that they're happy (which I hope is also that way) and that's what matters.
OH, two other groups I'd place very high around a similar area are definitely A.C.E, P1Harmony and Golden Child. They're all also so dear to me with both their content outside of music videos and the music itself while being way too underrated for how insanely good they are!
I'm almost scared to say this but this isn't Twitter where stans see everything as it being personal- but P1Harmony have been so far pretty much the only band where I love every song in albums. I'm sure this isn't an unpopular opinion because obviously you can't love every song but still. But I just can't stand songs that are cheesy and/or fan-servicey (which I think. Is probably bc I'm aroace and it just makes me uncomfortable and cringe- but still,) they're just the worst. BUT if the song is catchy enough I will still love it, just ignoring the lyrics is something I need to get better at :'D Kingdom's Warning is a good example of a song having lyrics that make me physically cringe but I jam out to this song because it's such a bop. So yeah.
I mean, Monsta X is one of my all time favs and they're so full of cheesy songs and fanservice, so I think somewhere along the road my resistance went up. :'D
Even after some years, kpop fans are still wild to me. Like, the amount of delusions and elitism going on seem to be more than for any other fandom, but that's not really a fun topic to talk about. But man, watching live performances can be painful with how loud everyone's screaming their lungs out which alone is enough for me to never go on a kpop concert, even though I'd love to. But the only non-metal concert I ever went to was already hell when it came to the fans just screeching and making it completely unable to understand what the singer is even singing. So yeah, I uh, I'll stick to metal concerts,,,
But!! Even though I am not the biggest fan normally of watching live performances, I still really love watching them for specific groups, coming back to Kingdom and E'Last because those were kinda the main focus before I got sidetracked (and I would just add more and more I feel like fhkgfg), I love their lives and choreographies in general so so so much. They are very, dare I say it, aesthetic and just fascinating to look at. Plus, both bands are so full of visuals it's insane.
I also noticed both Kingdom and E'Last often have some kind of ropes and cloth in the performances, which is a thing I really love because it's just really pleasing to look at, especially if they dance with it in such a smooth way. (Gah, like that one amazing Stray Kids Side Effects performance)
Both also have those beautiful and mysterious settings, I especially love the misty forests.
And also, AMAZING instrumentals/intros! 🙏
I'm just gonna. Go ahead and post some examples of parallels I love and think it's so beautiful that both of these bands I have so much brainrot about share so many similarities dfjghjfdg But I am just SO NORMAL!!! ABOUT IT!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Whether it's just same vibe or similar posing it's just a lot of fun.
Gonna put...
E'Last on the left and Kingdom on the right :)

It was a lot of fun just finding so many parallels now when skimming over the E'Last performances with that in mind, because for Kingdom I feel like I've got every frame engraved in my brain because I'm working on a big archive + lore essay about them so like...Yeah my mind at this point is a Kingdom archive help,, Next on the list for that will be E'Last tho soooo...
Also, for the end, a fancy group pose for E'Last and Kingdom :)

I feel like I've been MIA for a while, so a short update:
Finished the Kingston Cycle! Loved it, though I wish books 2 and 3 were longer bc it felt like there were too many subplots for such short books! Aside from that though it's a wonderful queer fantasy series and I'll definitely reread it!
Started the Micah Grey trilogy bc my goal was to finish those 2 series by the end of November, though I've been pretty slow to start it. I think I'm just not really in a reading mood right now. Might try and force myself to just read for a half hour a day or so (I need to start doing a half hour on the exercise bike anyway) and see if I can chip away at it slowly.
I've been into a lot of other stuff lately: nanowrimo, rewatching/finally finishing Twin Peaks, playing video games, and kpop (Blackpink, mostly). Work has also been busy since I got back from vacation, and all the snow means my commute has been extra long and stressful, so when I get home I only have the mental energy for writing (sometimes) and staring at a screen lol
That said, this is the first nanowrimo in 2 years that I'm not failing horribly at! It's not particularly well written, but I'm just glad to be getting words down on the page, and my brain didn't quit just because I had to think up some new characters (like it did last November)
Started listening to the podcast Wizard and the Bruiser, which is about pop culture/geek history, and it's reminding me of a lot of stuff I used to love or wanted to get into as a kid but couldn't, and now like every three days I have a new thing to obsess over
At least I'm quite far ahead on my reading goals for this year and I'm trying to let myself have Other Hobbies and not get stressed out for not finishing a trilogy in one week. As long as I finish the Micah Grey series by the end of November I'll still be on track.

me and nox concluded our nct marathon and im feeling oddly bittersweet about it. it was such a good experience. we still have so much more stuff to watch (we call together frequently to watch cinderella movies, we plan to listen to every new nct release in the future, and we also have more kpop marathons left) but OUG. THE NCT ERA IS OVER.
ether way it was such a good time and i'm glad we did this. it was honestly a rlly interesting ride. they had a rough start, like everything sounded SO weird initially vnfjvnjf with a few exceptions here and there. and then suddenly they had their hashtag slay era as noxia calls it, where they kept releasing consistently good music. of course highway to heaven was released during that era, literally nct's peak. and then everything went downhill again NVNJFNVJFVN THEY RELEASED MAKE A WISH. WHICH IS SUCH A MID, LEANING TOWARDS BAD SONG, BUT ALSO ONE IM KINDA OBSESSED WITH, ITS MY GUILTY PLEASURE. me and noxia had only listened to the english version but the lyrics in the korean version are so different??? like they actually make sense. whoever translated the song legit just pulled shit out of their ass and tried to make it rhyme. there was so much unmemorable shit, and then we got to hot sauce and OH MY GOD, HOT SAUCE IS SO BAD. i've heard it so many times before but idk why it rlly got to me this time. i think it was noxia's reaction to it but i started laughing so hard i had actual tears in my eyes, i was sobbing. and then the most devastating thing happened.
noxia looked at one of the guys and said "DUDE, THAT GUY HAS A SUPERM SHIRT" and she kept going back trying to find the frame and it was a fucking SUPREME shirt. i lost my mind at that.
then we got to sticker. we've all heard sticker. it certainly is a song.
and as for the more recent releases, i actually thought they were pretty good. a lot of nct's stuff is kinda just generic and unmemorable but occasionally it's kinda fun, and i do think after sticker there's been some improvement here and there. the world is healing. as noxia put it by the end of it: "their music just isn't for me. most of the songs aren't bad, they're just so generic, and i wouldn't ask someone to turn it off but i would also forget about it by tomorrow. every once in a while they release a BANGER and every once in a while they release the worst songs known to men."
yeah, i agree. i no longer think they suck, is just that when they give them bad songs they're SO bad vnfjvnjv. but there's redeemable qualities in their discography and for the most part, they're okay. overall their music is a 6/10 i think, but they have some rlly good songs here and there.
SPECIFICALLY i love wayv. wayv stayed consistently good all the time??? not a single miss. i was terrified when we got to the nct flop era and a wayv song started playing and it sounded kinda off. i remember noxia going "THEY GOT WAYV!!!" but it was fine, the song actually picked up a bit as it went along.
in conclusion: nct is. alright. not as bad as some people say it is, and also not as good. it's just okay overall. but i do think they have some potential, so i'm excited to see where they go in the future in terms of their music. maybe they'll get a full redemption arc.
NOOOOOO, THE END OF THE NCT ERA....I'm not surprised that ur rating of their discography was 6/10. I wonder if nct is more of an...experiment for sme. Bc they already have a unique group dynamic (Idk of any other groups that just keep adding new members bc that's their gimmick + them having so many subdivisions + having one of those subdivisions be dedicated to just putting the members on rotation), so maybe they're throwing things at the fans and seeing what can be marketed and what can't. Seeing how much bad music the fans can take before they start dipping gjskfkfj. I don't have any evidence to support this, I'm just musing here
Also not the supreme shirt.....it would be so funny actually if that had been a superm shirt. Imagine if sme was trying to promote superm thru nct 😭😭
I'm happy to hear that wayv stayed consistently good! I might check out their full discography then, I rlly like what I've heard of it so far

🎵 🎧 ✨🤭 💭 roller coaster by nmixx
🎵 recommend a song based on your vibe/blog
can i recommend two?? black soul dress by tripleS and je ne sais quoi by odd eye circle ! first of all ur vibe/blog is immaculate also the fact that ur asking about rollercoaster confirms u have immaculate taste aksdjflsdf so i hope u like these recs ! i've been soooo obsessed w both albums that these songs come from, and imo the vibes match rollercoaster! (well at least i have them all on the same playlist askldjflaksdjlfasdf)
🎧 put one of my kpop playlists on shuffle and share the first song that plays
summer ride by sevenus! sevenus is a recently re-debuted duo (originally were in the group MASC together) that placed 2nd in peak time ! summer ride is such a bright b-side from their debut album!!
✨ tell you about a group i'm getting into more recently
nine.i ! they're always sort of at the back of my mind but i've been trying to listen to their recent album more bc it's rlly cute and i love a lot of their previous songs too! the members r adorable and their song concepts match well (bright and high teen)!
🤭 tell you about a bias that came as a surprise
the boyz jacob!!! i watched tbz content for about a month without having a clear bias, and then all of a sudden it hit me that it was jacob! which was so unexpected because he's a pretty shy, soft-spoken, angelic member and normally i tend to be drawn to loud, mischievous types (haknyeon was my initial tentative tbz bias)!
💭 send w/ a song, and I’ll give you my thoughts on it
like i said above i do love rollercoaster!!! she's such an underrated song :') i'm not very plugged-in to nmixx, but this song didn't seem to be making the normal rounds on tiktok the way their other songs do, but honestly i'm kinda relieved. she's a hidden gem!! she's on my playlist with a lot of tripleS, newjeans, and odd eye circle songs <3 im rlly into this genre of song rn so thank for asking about rollercoaster!!!!

Did Kr*s W*'s news affect you at all? I remember following you back in like 2011 and you were THE stan. I just hurt knowing and remembering what that pos meant to you. Sorry if this is intrusive
It was EXTREMELY upsetting to see. I'm only relieved that I'd already let go of the idealized version of him that (clearly) only existed in my head many years ago. Because I really don't know what Krystal circa '12 would've done had this come out while he was in EXO and I while I was in the peak of my "wu-fan" days. She would've been inconsolable, for sure. She truly believed Kris was this magical, wonderful, perfect boy. How very wrong she was, how wrong we all were.
Kris (somewhat abruptly and much to my disappointment) stopped being the "uwu soft sweet shy boy" after he left EXO (at least his image no longer portrayed that and he no longer presented himself in that way). And, looking back now, I'm very glad he showed his "true" colors when he went solo. It made it easier to let go of that intense infatuation I'd had for him.
There were times, in these past few years, where I'd try to get back into my hardcore Kris stanning. I'd watch old EXO content and I'd feel nostalgic. I'd remember all those feelings I had, how good they made me feel, just to see that cold shy tall boy being goofy and soft with the members, and I'd think "let's watch some of his current stuff and see what he's up to! Maybe that Kris I loved is still there somewhere!" but when I'd see him in his recent interviews and stuff he just seemed so....conceited and dumb. That, and his constant cultural appropriation was just a massive turn off. He gave me such intense airheaded, fuckboy vibes and it just would not go away, try as I might! lmao.
Anyways, all of that led to me growing quite indifferent to him. But when this news came out, of course my brain immediately went "wow, you spent YEARS obsessed with a rapist. COOL." and I felt sick to my stomach. I was worried to come on tumblr tbh. I was afraid that I'd have a ton of messages from all the people who'd sent me anon hate back in those days, or who'd spent their free time making fun of me and "dragging" me on twitter with their friend groups, for being "in love" with Kris. In fact, if any of those people are still involved in kpop, I'm sure when they saw the news, they probably thought of that ~crazy~ Kris stan "wu-fan."
And I think that's something that really bugs me. That I'll always be associated with him on this site and in the kpop community. I was "tumblr famous" because of him. Many of my friends I have because of this blog, because I was "wu-fan," because I wrote essays and dissertations about how much I loved him and worked hard to make others love him as well. That's my legacy. And it's completely tainted now. I'm very uncomfortable knowing that my legacy on the internet is stanning a now confirmed serial sexual abuser. Especially considering I myself was sexually abused, and actually found HEALING in becoming a Kris stan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, okay. I need to stop dwelling on it. This all screams #firstworldproblems and the reality is, my lame insignificant internet blog means nothing compared to the actual women who were physically hurt by Kris Wu. They have all of my love and support.

Hello! I'm a (former?) star wars fan who was utterly devastated by TRoS and had to take an indefinite break from the fandom as a result. During lockdown I discovered kdramas and they're my new obsession! I saw that you recommended Coffee Prince and My Love from the Star in a post. I've already seen and loved those (and my own current favourites include Are You Human and Hwayugi) so I was wondering if you could recommend a few more? Thank you!!

Her Private Life- my new favourite. The curator of an art museum leads a secret double life as a hardcore kpop fangirl; both her identities get off on entirely the wrong foot with famous artist Ryan Gold who has been suffering from an art block caused by the same mysterious painting she’s determined to buy for her idol oppa. If you want a funny, fluffy, character-driven romance where you can really love the leads and will never want to strangle them: this is your show. It is the most purely enjoyable romcom drama ever imo, there’s none of the frustration over ridiculous behaviour or contrived stakes that you typically have to deal with and it has a satisfying, perfect ending. The villains all aren’t so bad after all, everyone gets an arc, the gentle little mystery has a happy resolution, and it’s just about some people facing their issues and helping each other grow. It was very healing to watch in this media climate.
The plot is nothing to write home about and includes a unneeded kdrama cliché towards the end (well-handled and not dragged out, so I forgive it), but the real ‘story’ is the character development and the plot is just a frame to hang that on. Overrall, it’s incredibly refreshing because of the high quality characters and the emotional maturity of the relationship. The leads have insane chemistry, the sexual tension is legit palpable, and the intimacy once they get together is genuinely next level; they are so natural and so endearing it feels like they’re not acting. Ryan Gold is also the best boyfriend in kdrama history and is played by the world’s most beautiful living man, Kim Jae Wook, whom you’ll recognise as our Waffle-kun Sun Ki from Coffee Prince. So it’s got that going for it as well.
Other romcoms: Sungkynkwan Scandal (historical disguise romance! girl needs to dress up as a guy to take the national exam so she can support her family, shenanigans ensue), My Princess (normal girl discovers she’s a lost princess, the guy her ascension will disinherit is in charge of grooming her for the role- it’s cute), Prime Minister & I (contract marriage), What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (I think this show is pretty overrated but it’s definitely a fun, low-stakes romance with lots of fluff and lots of kissing and we probably all need a bit of that right now).
Change of pace:
Tell Me What You Saw- this is for my clannibals. Crime drama about a green country cop getting tied up in the apparent resurfacing of a famous serial killer who is officially supposed to be dead. She was driven to become a police officer to solve the hit-and-run death of her mother, but she hasn’t made it out of her home town. Then a body is dumped in her neighbourhood and her photographic memory of the scene draws the attention of the big city team leader. Said team leader takes her to meet the reclusive, ex-detective criminal profiler who originally worked the serial killer case.
A bond develops where she acts as his eyes and ears in the field and he trains her to observe like a detective, but our recluse is a very damaged dude and he’s not exactly being forthcoming about his real agenda.
This show has plot and logic issues, sometimes to its profound detriment, but the characters are extremely strong and everything else about it is fucking A+. Atmosphere, acting, action, pacing, intrigue, etc. are all fantastic. The ending was also unexpectedly wonderful and I was so grateful for that. Oh Hyun Jae (the profiler) is a secretive, broken, lonely, manipulative genius who is always fifteen steps ahead of everyone else and I find that very, very sexy of him. He is an anti-hero for most of the series and contrasts with our more idealistic protagonist both in that and in other more subtle ways. Their relationship is super interesting and I ship them really hard.
My Country- I’ll just tell you that the main characters are a mess and the plot leaves a lot to be desired, but watch it for Bang-won. He is a sad angry murder prince and he’s amazing. The whole show is peak eye candy throughout, every episode looks like an epic film with insane production value, so if you want quality action spectacle with a dangerous hot woobie way more interesting than the leads who seems to have wandered in from an infinitely better story to replace the ST- you’re set. Great news, he’s a real historical figure and became king, so they can’t kill him off.
