Hellsa gives an exasperated little huff as Charlie frets over her. Not only had someone stabbed her but, even worse, she’d have to be extra careful if she ever wanted to get the blood stains on her coat out and, most annoying of all, she’d suffered through this all just for Charlie, a girl who she... she... Ugh, no, Hellsa utterly adored her, but she still was mad about it.

And Charlie’s worry, as sweet as it was, didn’t really help to lessen the gesture she’d just made. (Even though it wasn’t even her first fight or anything and there were only, like, five people so it wasn’t a big deal and most of them were unarmed so it was practically nothing and definitely not some big gesture Charlie should look into.)

“It was basically just a bar fight, Char. You should’ve seen me in my twenties, this is nothing compared to then. I mean, most of the blood isn’t even mine.” Her words would’ve been more effective if she hadn’t let out a sharp hiss immediately after when Charlie’s hand brushes over the wound in her stomach, (she could turn the damn thing into a mouth, why the fuck did this still hurt???) but she tries to save face nonetheless. “Honestly, I’m more worried about my outfit.”

Hellsa breathes out a laugh, quick to return the simple affection, wrapping her arms around Charlie.

The situation is... weird, in a way, or it at least makes her feel weird, but she doesn’t want to care about that right now. All she wants to think about is how, after all this time, Charlie still fits so perfectly in her arms. The thought is sappy and overly sentimental, just like the girl in front of her, and Hellsa wouldn’t have it any other way.

The thought brings a smile to her lips, and she leans back for a moment to press them to Charlie’s forehead. “Clingy”, she accuses, like the hypocrite she is, before holding Charlie tighter.

9. A kiss on the lips

It might be due in some part to the slight buzz she has going on, or the fact that she just loves this holiday plain and simple, but either way when Hellsa runs into Charlie she’s in high spirits. Excitedly calling out Charlie’s name as she makes her way over to her, Hellsa’s quick to drape her arms over Charlie’s shoulders and lean down to press a not-at-all-brief kiss to her lips in greeting.

“It’s been how many years since our fallout and you still insist on doing something for my birthday, even though I always say I don’t wanna celebrate it.” Some things never change. Not that she’s complaining, there’s an obvious hint of amusement in her voice.

It’s true she’d rather leave today well enough alone but she’s more than accustomed to Charlie’s well-intentioned gestures at this point. So, she offers a smile and takes the bouquet in her hands.

“God, you never listen, do you Charlie?” A brief pause as Hellsa kisses her on the cheek. “This is nice, thank you.”
