All the details Bells Hells know about Cyrus' death & everything surrounding it
I've been seeing people wondering/forgetting how much Dorian has told Bells Hells about the circumstances of Cyrus' death. So I've decided to go through the episodes!
A couple disclaimers before I start:
Orym shouldn't have made that comment to Dorian. Even if he didn't know all the specifics, knowing Dorian's brother died recently (and at all for that matter) should have stopped him from making that theoretical. Even if Cyrus' death had nothing to do with the gods, it would still be an inappropriate thing to say. He could've made that theoretical to anyone else in that group but he said it to the person with a recently dead family member.
Even though it would be beneficial for Dorian to tell BH (and for BH to learn/understand) everything about that day, he doesn't have to (and` shouldn't be forced to). Plus, it's very in character for Dorian not to tell them.
I don't want to see any comments saying "well it's implied," "BH should be able to connect the dots," or "BH should get the hint because of how Dorian has been acting." I'm bad at picking up hints irl so I won't fault BH for not connecting those points.
This post is about what Dorian has explicitly said (even though I did add a couple parts where he implies what happens).
This is all under the assumption that Dorian has not told BH everything off camera.
All timestamps will be based on the YouTube VOD.
I may miss a couple tidbits so sorry in advance.
Now to the actual information
Episode 93
Cyrus died (3:43:24)
Two of Dorian's best friends became the champions of the Matron of Ravens and the Spider Queen (3:43:28)
It all happened yesterday (3:43:38)
Opal is "not really" okay (3:43:45)
Cyrus died in battle "if you can call it that" (3:53:36)
Until that day he never thought real evil existed (3:53:46)
What he saw in the previous couple days does was "irredeemable" (3:53:55)
They tried to help Opal (3:54:59)
Dorian knows that there are forces enacting on the world that go "deeper than [he] imagined" (3:55:05)
Fy'ra Rai stayed with Opal (3:55:16)
Dariax is "all right" (3:55:20)
Opal is alive but corrupted (3:57:04)
Fy'ra Rai may be walking down the path as Opal (3:57:12)
Episode 94
Dorian doesn't explicitly mention it this episode but there is a moment where he hints that the prime deities may have somehow been involved.
"If you are relying on the help of the gods, champions, I can't say that I trust them anymore" (2:30:17)
Episode 102
No explicit mentions here BUT we begin to get Dorian's opinions of the gods. That's not what this post is about so I will move on
Episode 103
More of Dorian's views on the gods and we finally get another (sort of) explicit mention
"The last I conferred with a god, they cared very little about the feelings of anyone around us." That god being the Spider Queen (1:37:01)
The reason I say "sort of" is because Dorian doesn't say this is in regards to Cyrus' death (even though we the audience knows this). Orym and Fearne could've easily assumed that this was in regards to their EXU times.
Episode 109
Get an idea of what "getting dark" means. Matt describes Opal as "a humanoid shape of white hair and a black crown dripping and black oil and ichor. Opal stands dark and still" (2:19:13)
"Opal the Twice-Crowned, born a fractured, dual soul. A being of unknown potential, manipulated by cult and betrayer gods alike to walk a violent path without agency, a pawn for the gods and their whims." Raven Queen describing Opal (2:19:32)
Opal has a spider form (different from three-armed Opal) (2:49:20)
Episode 110
Dorian remind Bells Hells that Opal is now the champion of the Spider Queen (51:29)
Laudna says "hang on, because didn't, the last time you saw Opal, wasn't she trying to brutally murder you?" (52:22). I guess BH knows it was the Spider Queen? I'm a bit confused because Dorian never explicitly told them this but maybe it was an off screen thing
Dorian: "I'm not certain any information we would get from her would be particularly reliable" (52:30)
What does Bells Hells know?
As far as they know, the day before Dorian reunited with Bells Hells:
Cyrus died in a (sort of) battle.
They tried to help Opal but she is corrupted, she is still alive though
Fy'ra Rai stayed with Opal
Dariax is safe
Opal and someone else are now the champions of the Spider Queen and Matron of Ravens.
Dorian discovered real evil existed
The title "Opal the Twice-Crowned"
Opal's spider form (but different the three-armed Opal that Dorian saw)
Opal is not a reliable source of information right now
What does Bells Hells not know?
Wildmother refused to help
Matron refused to help
The Spider Queen killed Cyrus (? tbh i'm confused about this one)
Dorian came here because Opal casted mass suggestion
Dorian abandoned Dariax
Opal's memories are either gone or altered
Opal with three arms
The whole Ted thing
And much more

This is a continuation of the links I original had in this post here! It reached tumblr's 100 link-per-post limit, so since I had more mlm links than the other ones (... 👀), I'm giving them their own post (which is killing me bc I wanted them all together & it's ruining the aesthetic vibe I had going grrr)
All links coloured in blue are new to the original list! Links with ✨ are personal favourites/recommendations. 98% of the links lead to twt/x, but some go to the hub.

You know what I'm just gonna link the bracket too. It's not very easy to read bc most of the titles are too long, which is why I'll make an actual nice looking bracket later, but it does tell you what the matchups are
Round 1 is over!
I’ve been kind of slacking off on the spreadsheet‚ but here it is ready for round 2!
They are listed alphabetically by show title and will tell you which group of voting they are in. Episodes that are still in the running are in bold. There is also a second sheet listing only those that made it to round 2.
Edit: the round 2 sheet is organized by group bc I thought having that also alphabetical might be a little redundant
Edit 2: oops forgot to link to Round 2
#man on some of these it doesn’t even get to the episode number.#also if the seed number is above like. 100. then its seed was completely randomized.#. i said i'd do the bracket at 32. but now I'm thinking maybe it goes up next round at 64. the only thing is that I am very bad at updating#brackets which is the part I slacked off on my last tournament. actually I still haven't posted the final brackets I'm gonna do that now.#that had five separate brackets tho so this should be fine#hm I'm just gonna keep tweaking my bracket template until it looks good.#the main problem is that I have to fit the entire show and episode title into the slot. It'll be two lines but that might not be enough.

Since I already seen a post about unhinged threads of replies galore from the same person, I'm gonna do that with my thread on the other site about what I'm watching about Super Sentai.
Right now I'm: (Edited at Dec 14th, 2023)
Jetman at ep 32. Things are happening and I sometimes I wish it didn't.
Dynaman at ep 24. Everybody keeps been adorable
Magiranger at ep 15. Introductory arc kinda done I think? Macguffin next episode forward!
Carranger at ep 6. It's a parody, but in a different way Zenkaiger is, I believe. But, I still have more than 40 episodes to go to decide that.
King-Ohger at ep 15. Still not its turn
Finished: Bioman, Changeman, Zyuranger, Dairanger, Megaranger, Gingaman, GoGo-V, Dekaranger, Boukenger, Gekiranger, Go-Onger, Shinkenger, Goseiger, Gokaiger, Go-Busters, Kyoryuger, ToQger, Ninninger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger, Lupinranger vs Patranger, Ryusoulger, Kiramager, Zenkaiger, Donbrothers
The only method to this madness is if I want to watch a crossover or not. Soooo....

Hi there. So I've been firm in my belief that Luke & Nicola are gonna announce their relationship by telling us that they are already MARRIED. I've been conversing with a friend on here and we both agree there's been clues/crumbs that just might support the theory. Some might think it's too soon, BUT I just think their relationship was never a normal dating/courtship. Them being TOGETHER is 4-5 years in the making. Anyway, sorry it's long, but here's our thoughts on possible clues that these two may have tied the knot:
Many of them come from secondary sources, but I found these nuggets too hard to ignore. So here it goes:
8/22 N shares Polin photo. My interpretation of this photo is that this is the pivotal scene where Colin reads her letters and starts to forgive her. Penelope professes her love for him later that day. I think this particular photo was to signal they had worked out their differences and were together. I most definitely could be wrong, but I took it as a positive sign.
(I think 8/22/since deleted) JVN shares TT song and dance to Oh Happy Day. Well that's suspicious...
8/28 N and JVN like Evan Ross Katz Insta post about Catherine O'Hara meeting her husband on set and being married for 32 years. Hmmm?
8/28 Bridgerton Netflix drops the cute Lukola-coded media video on Insta.
8/29-8/30 I saw maybe 3-4 random comments on a few Insta and TT posts mentioning Cabo. In fact, there was a comment on L's Spain post up until recently that said "do Cabo next." So weird and probably not true, but I couldn't stop thinking about Cabo.
8/30 JVN posts the song "They Went for the Gun" from the musical Chicago to TT. I kept thinking what an odd song choice when talking about your remote work team. If you're a musical fan, you know that this is the routine where Richard Gere performs the puppet dance number with Renee Zellweger. The song is about convincing the media to buy in to your narrative by turning them into your puppets. I thought this could be about the JD photo gate distraction or maybe L/N were getting married and they wanted us to think otherwise? Or, this could mean absolutely nothing, lol.
8/31 This is the morning we all saw the JD in the ocean/pool story. OMG everyone panic - he's in Malta with N! I wonder if JD was excited to be on vacation and accidentally posted the pic to Insta and that set off the whole day of possible distractions? Right after, JVN posts a we're home and here's a garden update story. (I almost always wonder if his garden updates are jokingly about L/N status.) Maybe it was previously recorded, and he used it to possibly provide cover for JD's slip-up?
I know my theory is off the rails, but I kind of like the possibility of it. Maybe L/N went to Cabo for a long weekend wedding around 8/30-9/1 with just a few close friends and family? You know JD and JVN would be there. I'm not one of those photo date, location and time truthers. It seems like that is never accurate. The previously mentioned JD photo looked like a pool to me, and it reminded me of this deep blue-colored one that is at the One & Only Palmilla in Cabo. This resort has been featured on many episodes of Real Housewives and N loves that show. I also thought the Insta story from N's work colleague in Malta would be really thoughtless and unprofessional if she was actually there at that exact time. I hope it was an intentional misdirect.
8-31 Days before Chupi has been teasing their new Future Awaits Diamond Arrow eternity band. They have posts pairing it with the Claddagh ring. They release it early on this date. It looks very similar to the one N is wearing in her Polin post from 6/11/21. Maybe it's her new wedding band and she's already married? Squee!
Anyway, this is crazy delusional but it was fun to think they might have been breadcrumbs. Maybe L/N got married quietly in Galway(because she'd definitely want her mother there and her Irish roots/traditons are important to her, and now L) Spain when no one was suspecting it. Regardless, I hope Netflix paid for the wedding if there was one. Thanks so much for letting me share. I hope we find out soon! The rings are still the biggest clues of all. 🥰💍👀
This is all speculation... but interesting theories...
I don't think they are already married, but what does everyone else think?
The rings definitely mean SOMETHING about L/N 👀

Hils Watches Tibetan Sea Flower - Ep 32
Well, I honestly have no idea what to expect from this episode. The main story has been wrapped up including an epilogue. What else is there left to do?
And people have been leaving cryptic comments on my last liveblog post so now I have no idea whether to be nervous or excited. Maybe a bit of both?
Okay, let's see what's occuring I guess...
Oh shit
It's been a while since I watched Sha Hai but doesn't that end with them visiting Pan Zi's grave. Ooh are we going to get what happens between the end of Sha Hai and the beginning of Reunion?
OH SHIT ARE WE DOING TEN YEARS LATER??? I'M NOT EMOTIONALLY PREPARED FOR THIS!
Fuck I'm crying already
Oh, god, they're planning for Yucun I can't
LOOK AT IT! I've written so many fics set here and I've never had a visual reference before. I'm so happy.
Am I just going to cry through this whole episode? They're going to retire together, and Xiaoge is going to join them when he gets out 😭😭
I understand why, for copyright reasons, they haven't used See You Again which is what they listen to in the novels. But I'm still a bit sad about it
YUCUN HAS MEMORY AIDING FLOWERS 😭
HE SAID THE THING 😭😭😭😭
Of course Pangzi immediately hugs him 😭😭😭😭
And now Wu Xie is hugging him too. They all love each other so much 😭😭😭😭
MY OT3 IS FINALLY BACK TOGETHER 😭😭😭😭
THEY'RE GOING HOME. TOGETHER. 😭😭😭😭
Oh my god is Pangzi singing his rap from Reunion while Wu Xie and Xiaoge nap in the back of the car? I love them.
Add chef to the list and that is basically what he does once they retire
Wait, are they moving to Yucun? Like right now?? No, no, no. My heart can't take this.
IT'S SO TRUE
I have written so many fics where the three of them tend to their veggie garden together and IT'S HAPPENING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME 😭😭😭😭
Now I'm just thinking about the fic I wrote where Wu Xie wages war against the caterpillars that keep eating their lettuces 😂
Uh oh
Pangzi deserves all of the massages
I'M FINE 😭😭😭😭
Wow I never imagined that 4 years after I started my first DMBJ drama I would finally get the Yucun adaptation that my heart has yearned for

I find Rampart a funny addition to the last episodes, and I love Noshir Dalal and his interpretation of him, but I think it's important to not forget who Rampart is. The War Mantle program to replace Clone Troopers for the TK troopers was his initiative; he only saw Crosshair as a tool to help him convey his objectives; he targeted the Syndullas, sent Howzer to prison; he always despised the clones and even tried to murder Senator Chuchi, sending one of those X Clone troopers (he knows about that program too); He killed Wilco, He mocked Crosshair when he returned to the Empire after being stranded on Kamino for 32 rotations and possibly lied about Cody's AWOL status; and finally, he made clear his stance in that short conversation he had with Crosshair in the last episode. So, I don't think he is trustworthy. Not yet. Like Senator Organa said to Senator Chuchi, "Rampart is skilled at saying all the right things, especially when he doesn't want anyone looking deeper.".
He is not getting the Kallus arc, and I do not believe the writers are trying to give him one.
Also, I have seen a lot of people say that Crosshair might sacrifice to prove Rampart is wrong about him. But in my opinion, that is bullshit. Crosshair doesn't need to prove anything, and less to that Imperial hydrosnake who Rampart is.
I'm just begging that the writers don't go that route. And if Crosshair is going to die, better not be for Rampart or try to do something for him.
btw I love Noshir and how he engages with the fandom on X. This is not a hate post to Noshir.

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." - Dr. Maya Angelou
This post is about Buck and Timbuktu!
I'm posting this quote by Dr. Angelou because I saw a real interesting take regarding the way Tonsilitis treated Buck in episode 8x5. First off, I don't go into tags with BuckT*mmy posts unless they're clearly indicated as Anti so imagine my surprise when I saw a post that was disguised as anti but it wasn't. The one that I read was over one of my posts and I had to do a double take to make sure I read it correctly. Anyway, the gist of it was "Buddie shippers are really reaching and trying to make Timbuktu seem like he's a bad boyfriend." 😬 Needless to say, I promptly blocked them.
As mentioned above, it was in the anti tag so... that's the only reason why I saw it but the point is if anyone thinks or believes Transparent wasn't being rude, abrasive and condescending... I have no words. If anyone truly believes the way he treated Buck was ok... then it's concerning.
They're both grown men, therefore Tonka Truck shouldn't have done more than 99.999% of the things he did or said. Reminder, that trifling dude told Buck he had five more minutes of screen time. That's not a normal or usual thing for someone to say to another adult. Buck's 32 years old not 3 or 4 and no one should be regulating his bedtime. Also, Toy Story literally laughed at Buck with his trifling co-workers and didn't even try to play it off until Eddie returned a petty smile and a nod at him.
Make no mistake, Eddie wasn't laughing with Tombstone, he was mocking him. If the scene is rewatched, it's clear that's the only time King Petty Eddie Diaz looked at that jerk. Eddie's face was giving, this guy is an asshat.
The purpose of this post is for anyone in a relationship, friendship or whatever type of lopsided ship with someone like Tonka Toy.
If a person who's supposed to like you acts like they don't... BELIEVE THEM THE FIRST TIME!
Trust their actions are NOT an act because they really don't like you and Twiddle Dumb doesn't like Buck one bit.
He wants EDDIE! He always has but Eddie wants Buck, so there!
Evan 'Buck' Buckley, this goes for you too!
Just saying.

Most Unhinged Dropout Cast Member Poll Bracket!!!
Hello! I'm home sick and I'm bored and I've decided to entertain myself by making a poll bracket to determine who amongst the Dropout TV cast is the most unhinged!
Of course, however you choose to define "unhinged" in your voting is up to you, but some things I would consider are these: Do they occasionally (or frequently) behave in ways you've never seen another human being behave? Would they do or say absolutely anything to commit to a bit? When they appear on an episode of a Dropout show, is your first thought "oh dang, this is gonna be a WILD time?" If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, this person might just be a bit unhinged.
I have included 32 cast members to make a nice and tidy bracket - I apologize if you don't see someone you like, obviously there are WAY more than 32 people who at least semi-regulargly appear on Dropout. I did my best to pick a good bunch. The pair-ups are random so anyone can be pitted against anyone! I plan on posting 4 polls a day and each poll will last a week. Once round 1 polls are done I'll get started on round 2! The last thing I'll note before getting these polls started is that I have elected to omit Sam Reich from the running, because the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it's really unfair to pit anyone against the man who came up with Game Changer. (Sam is Unhinged Georg)
Now, without further ado, let's get round 1 started!

so i just read a post explaining why the op (and, according to the op, a lot of other people, even tho the post in question only had 32 notes, some of which were from people who disagreed with them) didn't like the cut to the crown keepers in last week's episode. while i'm totally on board with people not jibing with stuff that just doesn't work for them, i wanted offer some reasons why this seemingly hard pivot to people who are not the main characters of the story being told was a good decision to make (note good decision, not inherently the best decision, which i believe no one, including the dm, at a ttrpg table should ever be expected to make).
matt had an extremely powerful, extremely unexpected character decision dropped in his lap in the final moments of the previous episode. we don't know exactly how much time matt has between recordings, maybe a full week, maybe not, but either way, there's a very real chance that matt just did not have enough time to fully prepare a session to deal with fcg's death and what comes next.
sam now has to create a new character that a) is of a level with the rest of the party and b) makes narrative sense for him to be there. that takes time for both him and matt, and they might just need some space to work on that. when laudna died, marisha was willing to sit away from the table for several weeks because she knew that she wanted laudna to be resurrected, but sam may not want the same thing, and that's okay!
matt may want to fold the crown keepers into his main story, some or all of them—particularly dorian, whom both liam and the fans have been asking to return for a while now. dorian is clearly important to orym and the story that liam is trying to tell, and bringing the crown keepers in may be matt's way to do that.
matt—and dms generally—has always had to straddle a very fine line of making sure that his players are the main characters of their story who feel like their actions have real consequences and effects on the world, while also understanding that in reality, it doesn't make sense for half a dozen chucklefucks to have such an outsized effect on major cosmological goings-on like *checks notes* the potential release of a god-eater. this becomes especially true when you're on your third campaign set in the same world, and your players' previous ultra-powerful pcs are still around and definitely more adept and connected than their current pcs are. i, personally, think matt does a great job at walking that line, and one of the things he does that i appreciate is that he doesn't shy away from the fact that a) his players are powerful but not the most powerful and b) his players aren't the only one who care about what's going on in the world and who are taking actions to effect change. the current plotline re: ruidus is absolutely world-shaking and is causing all the divine girlies to cower in their demiplanes, so of course even the evil ones are going to be calling on their champions to help out. it makes more sense for opal to be involved (which, btw, matt has been hinting at for a while now) than not.
matt might need a fucking break! he's been doing this consistently for nine years now, and shit is complicated! handing over the reins to aabria for a week or two or three may be what he needs to not get burnt out.
dnd is an emotional game, and the entire cast might have been rocked hard by fcg's death. some space away for a week or two could help them process and regroup to get back into a story that is otherwise very stressful and action-packed.
or it's none of these! what do i know! i'm a random idiot on the internet! matt doesn't consult me on these matters! (though my dms are open if he wants to chat, i do have ideas)
i think it's tempting to think of the decisions made in and around critical role (or any ttrpg show) like those made for a television series, because the episodes are serialized and we love them so much. but this show is, first and foremost, a group of friends playing a game together, and not a carefully constructed narrative with the primary goal of entertaining an audience. the audience always has been and, frankly, always should be second to the wishes and fun of the people around that table. matt would not have asked aabria to step in and dm a crown keepers side arc if he didn't think it was a good decision for him and his players, and that priority is the correct one. we are being invited in to watch these friends have fun together, and that's a privilege that we're super lucky to have. as long as the cr story isn't doing things that are outright abusive or harmful to the cast or the audience, i don't think we should begrudge them the choices they make in the name of their own game.
again, it's okay if you're not vibing with the crown keepers! i didn't love the aeor arc of c2! not everything is for everyone! but i think accusing matt and the cast of narrative malfeasance is a bit much when, tbqh, they don't answer to us. they answer to each other.

people have hyped this up so much I'm scared (ii s2 post-s3 liveblog)
(/silly)
ahem. hi. post-watch Knight here, with a big tw: there is a suicide mention and intense death wishing at the end of this post. you can guess who it's directed towards but if you've already seen the episodes I don't think you'll get it wrong.
since there's only 3 episodes this one is going to work slightly differently, I'll have Big Text separating each of them and timestamp each different part of the liveblog. there will also be screenshots.
15:
(intro) wait Taco's trying to steal the win without even being a contestant? (4:48) "Don't Mention That Again" I've said it before it just feels like he speaks in capitalized words sometimes
(5:08) song?? THE SONG FUCKING SLAPS???
(8:02) hold on a moment I need to do someth[finds the song in isolation and adds it to the playlist Good Music]
(10:19) taco!! come on, bringing up beef at the show!
(12:48) "yes :)" oh what a bitch /affectionate

So... SKs...
I need to talk about my positioning on the Zenix/Vylad/Malik Death thing too because i may have changed that opinion a teeny bit with a tiny bit of speculation... but i digress. that'll be another post, i'm just warning you that the yap travelling circus is coming to your city
anyways
SKs!
tw, this is discussions about SKs, and so will be talking about themes involving death, torture, and manipulation.
Lore about Sks really becomes defined after Laur becomes one, because he's a major character and it really makes sense that way, but we do get a lot of lore even before he becomes a recurring character, really. Especially through Zenix and the storylines adjacent to him. I really do think that Sk lore was peaking when Zenix was one of the major antagonists for the series, because it was just very interesting to have to explore that he was experiencing it away from the main storyline, and Aphmau would have to make an active effort to understand and build that knowledge, and even as she is starting to know more she is still kind of in denial that he is capable of the things he is doing.
And this becomes especially interesting that she is learning this through other people, when we compare it to what Zenix himself says about being a Shadow knight.
SKs have been around since episode one, maybe not in the way they were later developed to be, but the idea of this little band of antagonists that follow 'The King' and want lords dead, and are stunting villages, and we don't really know why except for monarchism. And as we build upon our knowledge over the episodes we find out they don't live in an active monarchy, but that the King is some supernatural force, and that the little band of villains are too, and they're trying to bring him back.
And then we get, in episode 31/32, that not all SKs are guards, and they don't only kill lords. Of course, the baker is only a knight in training, but the idea remains. The following of the King is ideological, they don't only recruit guards off of some need for the bond between lords and guards, they will recruit whoever is willing to do what they want, kill who needs to be killed.
In fact, the first time we ever really get the guard/lord talk in regards to Shadowknights is in episode 35, by Zenix. Zenix seems to have this idea that Guards and Lords are intrinsically connected, that the life of one is dependant of the death of the other, and there is always this idea that guards are expendable and so they are the ones to die and the lords live. However, if the guards kill the lords instead, they become the King's loyal servants, blessed with power, with immortality.
He cannot be killed like when he was human.
This is the origin of the idea that Sks are not only immortal, but have to kill the one they love most to transform into that immortal state. And it's not exactly what he's saying. He's saying that guards are always expected to die for their lords, but then the King tells them 'hey you kill your lord, i'll let you live forever' and then they're like 'oh neat' and kill their lords to gain that immortality and power.
I understand how this little rant of his later turned into that lore, but i think the implications here are much more interesting. Again, he says 'No one can touch me! No one can kill me like when i was human' and whilst you can take that to mean that he is no longer mortal, it also kind of reads like he has been killed or at least severely harmed before before... which has been implied by Azura earlier on, and sort of himself in the same conversation, where he says 'Garroth told you... didn't he? How he found me?' 'I wasn't in such good shape then either.' What this all overall implies upon SK lore is that the King preys upon victims to find followers, he takes those who have been victimised before, and he offers them the chance to not have to suffer that way again, they just have to do as he tells them to.
It's not some urge they cannot shake off, it's not this feeling deep inside of them that they cannot remove. They have been hurt they have been offered to not have to never be hurt again. It's a choice, through and through, but in the same way it isn't. It's not this primal hunger for blood, so much as a scrabbling for survival, it's fear, and desperation, it's a needing to not suffer through that trauma again and so they say yes. They say yes, because they will do these awful things because it's better to do bad to others than them do bad to you.
Later lore has them do these things because Shad has taken their bodies, and brought them back, changed their memories and given them the urge and the want to kill. He preys on victims because he can only turn those in his clutches into Knights. Earlier lore has him turning people by ideology, he is preying on those who he knows are already vulnerable, he is not limited by scope of domain, but merely by how convincing he can be. And that is terrifying.
Guards aren't killing lords because they need to kill who matters most to them, because they can't stop themselves no matter how much they try.
they're doing it because he told them to.
#maybe everyone already knew this stuff but noticing this all on my rewatch was CRAZY#aphmau#aphverse#aphblr

I haven't written an Old GMMTV Challenge update in SOOOOOO long, and I was just about to write a short screed compelling folks to think about taking up The Miracle of Teddy Bear, which I'm watching now for the project. I've also made some changes to the list, which I'll report below:
1) I paused Miracle for a couple of weeks to catch up on 2022's Triage, the second in a trilogy of shows by the Y novel writer, Sammon (most recently known for 4 Minutes, and better known for premiering with 2019's Manner of Death). I wanted to catch up on Triage before Spare Me Your Mercy airs, the third show in the MoD/Triage series trilogy. (Sammon has been posting on Twitter recently in anticipation for SMYM, thus my urgency in watching Triage.)
I wasn't intending on including Triage on the OGMMTVC syllabus, but I am, not even indulgently, but because I think if someone's going to situate themselves as a student of Thai BL, then this show should be watched as simply a TOTALLY REMARKABLE queer drama that plays not just with some BL tropes, but with a ton of other television tropes as well (as so wonderfully listed by @dragonsareawesome123!) TRIAGE IS SO FUCKING, FUCKING, FUCKING AWESOME, and I screamed in my liveblogs about it, so fuck yeah, I'm gonna review it soon (after I finish and review Miracle for the sake of chronology).
2) After I get reviews of Miracle and Triage out, I'll finally review GAP, which I watched this summer, and I'm glad I've given myself a lot of breathing room to think about GAP and its longterm impact, because I was gently unhappy with the show as it ended and how its script worked. I know some Idol Factory shows, like The Sign, are known for being bloooated, and I don't think GAP was bloated per se, but it was messy enough for me to think about it more critically than I expected in regards to celebrating Thailand's first GL. (It seems like The Loyal Pin is faring better by way of being a better script? But I haven't conversed with anyone about this yet.)
In any case, this breathing room, along with watching more shows from 2022, allows me to take the full step back I need to to celebrate GAP in its historical glory, notwithstanding the weak script, so that I'll do after I write up on Miracle and Triage.
(By the way. 2022 was a HELL OF A YEAR for Thai BLs. Bad Buddy ends, we got KinnPorsche, Triage, The Miracle of Teddy Bear as Thailand's first queer primetime drama, Secret Crush On You, The Eclipse, Moonlight Chicken is filmed but not aired, My School President premieres. 2023 and 2024 can only weep in jealousy, unfortunately.)
3) Finally, the real reason why I was going to put pen to paper today is that I am not done with The Miracle of Teddy Bear, and it's truly a HEFTY COMMITMENT to watch it, 16 hour-and-a-half-long episodes (meaning, 32 normal episodes) (New Siwaj drools in envy) but part of my thinking, as I start episode 12 tonight, is that I might need to compel my fellow Bad Buddy girlies to give Miracle a try.
If Bad Buddy was remarkable for existing in the no-homophobia-bubble, and using family rivalry and intergenerational trauma as sophisticated stand-ins for homophobia --
Miracle follows in BBS's footsteps as
1) not at all a BL, but a queer drama, Thailand's first major primetime queer drama,
2) a show that absolutely grabs all kinds of homophobia -- internal, external, social, familial homophobia -- by the neck, and reckons and analyzes each kind of homophobia through brilliant writing and character development,
3) a show that STILL, like BBS, grapples with intergenerational trauma, the trauma of adults coming from broken families and committing future harm on their children; as well as reckoning with the impacts of misogyny; as well as reckoning with the impacts of individuals standing up AGAINST social biases, including social homophobia, corporate demands against the environment, interactions with the police, so so much, and
4) a show that STILL commits to realistic development of romantic bonds among multiple couples, using flashbacks intelligently and sensibly, and leveraging romance often to sensibly lighten heavy moments.
I'll let y'all know how I fare as I get to the show's end, but let me just say at this point in time, before I dive into the show's last five episodes, that at least contemplating a watch of Miracle will be utterly satisfying for folks looking for incredible watches as we plod through a few mediocre shows at the present moment. I didn't think it would happen in the course of this syllabus, but I think Miracle is going into my top three of all Thai queer dramas I've ever watched, with Bad Buddy and He's Coming To Me at the top of that list.
